Anime What is the best anime? (This should be interesting)
Queen Asuka replied to Kyo no Ryu's topic in Otaku Central
Originally posted by Morpheus Where the hell is Dragonball? And G-Gundam? Sure GT has been mentioned, but the people made a horrible choice not letting Toriyama do the plot. No other anime went for 600 episodes, and DB/Z pioneered the,"Why the hell did you kill off the main Character style" So many people die that most can litterally say,"I died like this first, this second..."
Yes, but the same storyline was repeated over and over again for an unoriginal idea. Goku would fight, get hurt, eat beans, and then continue on as if nothing ever happened. Five minutes on the show would be the equivilant of 5 episodes running at 25 minutes each. The character designs were ugly and the backgrounds were awful. The action was lacking since it was just the same predictable thing happening over and over again. The only thing that DBZ has going for it is that it helped people to find out what anime is and then to expand and find new, better series. The sad thing is that it had to be such a crappy series as DBZ.
Originally posted by Dagger IX1 Oh, and mal, I've got a question for ya. I'd love to see X (the tv series), but would it be more worthwhile to read the manga? You said that the manga was better, and I was just wondering why. Thanks!
Well, I can answer that for her. I recommend a manga series over an anime series anyday. Sure, you don't get the music, the colors, or the voices. But the plots are richer and the artwork is amazingly beautiful. I wish you would read the X manga before watching the TV series. It's WONDERFUL, as is most everything else put out by CLAMP. -
Originally posted by Heaven's Cloud Although this may seem insanly girly, the only manga I ever really thought was great is Chobits. The story line is just so warm and fuzzy, like a good Disney flick. The artwork is also pretty spiffy.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I thought it was nicely done and CLAMP always does well on their artwork. They have such a unique style, and in this series, they added a new edge to it. I recommend Chobits to anyone. The manga series, anyway. The tv series seems so watered down to me.

Tori went and placed her sketches back up in her room. John was still sitting on the bed, but this time he was watching something on their small television. Tori thought nothing of it and made her way into the closet. "What are you doing?" John called out to her. "Well, I thought I would go swimming. Jenna's out in the pool and I don't like to swim alone, so I thought maybe I'd join her." Tori smiled as she picked up her favorite pink and white bikini. "Swimming, huh? In the pool? When you know the ocean is out there?" John asked. "Yes, the pool. I will have plenty of time for the ocean...oh yeah, did you know Charles is in jail?" Tori said. "What?" "Yeah, he just called a little while ago and asked us to go pick him up. D'Ann just took off. She said she needed to get out and no one really wanted to argue with her. She's the type you just need to let have her way." Tori smiled a bit, sighing happily as she began to change into her bathing suit. Embarrassed to be see in it, she put on a tank and shorts over it. She walked out of the closet and stood in front of the bed where John was. "You and I need to go do something..." Tori said, pretending to pout. "Like what?" he asked. "I don't know...but we need to be spending alot of time together. I think that once the business gets started up, things wont be so relaxed. Oh yes, and we have to give Jen our cell number." "Don't you mean MY cell number?" John said, raising a brow. "Well, I don't have a cell and since we're almost always together anyway I figured it would be most convenient." She smiled innocently. "Okay well, give her the number and maybe I'll meet you out by the pool," he said, giving in. Tori smiled and jumped on the bed and hugged him tightly. "I'll see you in a little while!" she said and she made her way out of the room and down to the pool, where she found Jenna. ---------- OCC: Mitch, that was hilarious.

I have the Powerman 5000 CD "Tonight the Stars Revolt" (at least, I think that's what it's called?) and I can safely say that I haven't listened to that CD in well over year. It's fun to pop in every now and then, though. I like that the album had an overall theme to it.
Originally posted by Epid3mic I think it has something to do with it's association with The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack, the Matrix tends to make everything better for me...
I was pretty disappointed with that CD. I feel like I really wasted my money when I bought it. I think I should just give it away. I never listen to it. *Sighs* That stupid song "Da Dip" or whatever is one of my current obsessions. Yes, it's VERY old. But I choreographed a routine to it once and it was so super awesome.

Tori had finally finished it. She was very happy and went dashing out of her room to find Jenna. John was left sitting on the bed alone, reading something. He looked up for a moment as he saw her head out and didn't think too much about it. She seemed pretty sporadic. Tori bounded down the stairs happily and made her way through the house, calling out Jenna's name happily. She finally found her, accompanied by Jordan. "Jordan!" Tori said, taking him by the hand and shaking it enthusiastically. "Nice to meet you, too," he said. Tori just beamed happily and then turned to Jenna. Jenna actually jumped at her sudden movement. "I'm done! I've completed it!" Tori said to her excitedly. "What?" Jenna said, a bit puzzled. "The design for the waitress outfit! Just look!" She thrust a piece of notebook paper into Jenna's hand. Jenna looked it over, smiling widely. "This is perfect. Now all we have to do buy the materials to make the costumes. I'm sure someone here knows how to operate the sewing machine in the basement." "There's a basement?" Jordan and Tori bothed asked. "Of course there is. A house this big and you don't think there'd be a basement?" Jenna laughed slightly. "Oh well, I guess I just didn't think about it," Tori said. "Well, I'm planning on getting the group together tonight at dinner to discuss tomorrow. We're going to take our list and go look at all the possible locations for our restraunt. We need a few people to volunteer to drive." Jenna explained. "Oh, sounds like a ton of fun. I know I'll be driving," Tori said. About that time, the phone began ringing. The three of them looked over at it curiously. "I wasn't even aware that we HAD a phone yet," Tori said. "Someone want to answer it?" Jordan said. Jenna walked over to the phone and the wall and answered it. "Hello?" she said. "Hello, is this Jenna? This is Charles...I'm in big trouble..." he said.

I'm with the majority in saying that Autumn is my favorite season. I love the crunch of the leaves, football season, and the crisp air. I like being a bit chill, but not freezing cold, as it gets in the winter time. I love Halloween and the sort. I don't know, and I love the name Autumn. Next is Summer. I love to go swimming and I love sunshine. I always look forward to the summertime after bleak winters and mild springs.

Ha, this thread is so amusing. I'm not really embarrassed or anything, but when I was in the sixth grade my favorite "bands" were Hanson and the Spice Girls. Yes, I was the typical sixth grader at the time. I think of songs now that I like that aren't what I usually listen to...and I'd have to say that it's mostly songs that we danced to on my dance team. A couple of N'Sync songs, a Monica song, Bombs over Baghdad, gah so many others I can't even think. I have this huge obsession with "Baby Got Back" and all the many different versions of it I can find. ^_^

I don't know if I can believe that, lol. The movie comes out in theatres on the 24th of October, but then is released on DVD on December 1st? Doesn't that seem a bit sudden? But if it is so, I am a big Leiji Matsumoto fan, so I will try to watch it if I can. ^_^;

Yes, I'm pro-life, but of course, it's hard to be strictly one or the other (in other words, I'm not an extremist). I only believe in it if it endangers the mother's life or the woman was raped. That's about it. But I just think it's sad that they just wont accept having a female and will give it up so they can have a male. It just seems so inhumane. And Mitch, contraceptives do matter. Now they have the shot. You only have to have the shot once every three months. And no pills or condoms to worry about.

Alright, I decided to quote these out of past diary entries: "Well, I had the weirdest dream the night before last. I dreamed that I still lived where I live now but that Ken lived next door to me in this little white trailer. Apparently where he lived was where I used to live and the room he used was the room that used to be mine. My mommy liked him and didn't mind if me and my sisters spent the night over. So I drove next door in my Pink Corvette, just like the one Barbie has. I don't remember anything else except that in my bottom driveway between my house and Ken's, people from the Otaku would draw banners paying homage to the Otaku Boards. Well, I ran down there and scribbled out all the banners and wrote "I LOVE JAMES!" on them and ran away so no one would know it was me. See what stupid Otaku Chats will do to you?" -AND- "Last night I had another dream about people from the OtakuBoards. I haven't had one in a while, but this one had to be the best one yet. The part I can mostly remember is the part with James, hence the name of this entry. Anywho, here's how it goes: I was about to go walking in the woods in day one of the dream. It was pretty dark but the moonlight was very bright. I saw James come out of the woods in front of me. For some reason we were talking and I was joking around and he dared me to chase him. So yes, I chased him through the woods in the dark, both of us laughing, until I tackled him from behind. I remember he was wearing a tight white T-shirt and as I tackled him, we sort of floated in slow motion into this clearing where alot of deer were. Most ran off, but some just stared and we stared back. We stood up, but I was still clinging to James, holding on to his waist. He was skinny and cut, and I didn't want to let go. All I could think about was how beautiful his body was... >.> So he said something about how this wasn't right and left me... Day two of the dream was me having some sort of party. I can't remember why, but I know I was the Guest of Honor. I was on a bus and I knew that PiroMunkie was staying in the house three up from mine. I was very nervous because it would be the first time that we would get to hang out with one another. As I got off the bus at my house, bursting with excited energy, Ryan came walking towards me. My spirits sank because I didn't want to have to choose between him and Piro. Ryan was wearing this weird tuxedo that made him look fat. His hat was ugly and his hair was long, but my sister Brittney, who happened to be standing beside me, said she liked it. I just shrugged. I was pretty nervous, so I ran away. I remember I was wearing a cute polka-dotted dress. I remember having a trampoline. I remember seeing Transtic sitting on my trampoline with PiroMunkie, and I was scared to go talk to them... I think I was at the point where I was going to approach them, but alas, the alarm clock went off. All I remember of miscellaneous details is that when I had ran away, people from the OB were inquiring of my whereabouts. One of them was Ken... So yes, too much OB for the Queen." Heh, I am indeed the Queen of Strange Dreams. Edit: After reading these, I have decided that I have a strange obsession with James. He's my dream lover.

OOC: You guys can't let this die. I have tried to incorporate numerous characters into each of my posts and to just give up on it now is just plain laziness. Now come on, people. Someone get Charles out of jail.

Actually I think that women aren't having as much babies as they used to due to new technology in women's contraceptives, also known as birth control. I think it is so awful how in China they will abort a female child if they would rather have a male since they are limited to two children. It's horrible...

Both of my younger sisters love anime and manga and my mom would watch some of it with us. I think she really enjoyed Fushigi Yugi. And I'm glad she did since she had pay for most of the series. ^_^; Yeah, it's all in the family here. :)

Yeppers, I love that song, Possum Kingdom, a LOT. I also listened to the Tyler song and I thought it was okay. But I still liked the other one better. Whenever I hear PK I always think about when me and my sisters were really young and we would be slideshows on this program called KidsPix Studio. And we used that song in quite a good bit of our slides. Man, we were AWESOME KIDS!

Starting a thread off like that is spam and should normally be deleted... I like the series well enough, but my younger sister is obsessed with it. She has pretty much all the DVDs and most of the manga, too. We are big Yu Watase fans at my home. ^_^ I've only watched the first volume of the TV series, so I couldn't give you a really good opinion. But what I saw so far, I liked.

Ooooh manga, something I used to hate, but now I'm into. So weird...yes, I am. Chobits is my absolute favorite. I have the entire series now and I just loved the uniqueness and the flair of it. It was predicatable, yes, but it was still a wonderful read with great art and beautiful detail. CLAMP rocks. Magic Knight Rayearth is another series by CLAMP and the manga is great. I love the concept and how there was this twist of irony when it came to the Princess Emeralda. It was so sad, but I loved it. Hikaru, however, was quite annoying. Paradise Kiss has got to be my second favorite. It's very cutting-edge with a unique style. It's about fashion and romance and the fifth volume hasn't came out here yet because it's not even released in Japan yet! But I highly recommend it. Parasyte is one of the first series I read and even though it's more of male/mature thing and is pretty freaky, I LOVED IT! It was so awesome and I hated that they quit printing Mixxzine because I'll never be able to finish this series...*sighs* Peach Girl is a fun romance that always ends up making me angry when it comes to Momo and Sae. Sae is the most devilish and evil girl and she always just HAS to ruin everything for Momo. I'm also irritated that Toji and Momo didn't workout for WHATEVER reason, but I am kind of excited for her and Kiley. ^_^ Mars is about this shy girl named Kira who falls in love with this bad-boy named Rei and all the stuff that comes out of typical romance. It's so sweet, though. I can't wait to see how it turns out... Sailor Moon is not a only a good anime series, but a GREAT manga series. Just read it and you'll see the different. The artwork is beautiful and elegant and the storyline has more flair to it. And of course, the Evangelion manga is excellent. I haven't read it all, but I love how Shinji and Asuka seem to have more of a relationship. ^_^; That's just me, I'm pro-Asuka+Shinji. Then, I also recommend X by CLAMP, too. It's beautiful and intriguing. OH! And Marmalade Boy! It's so cute and depressing and always leaves me on edge, but I love reading it. If you can't tell by now, I'm a big fan of romance series. Okay, so I'm sure there are more and I'll post them later, but you should all read these! ^_^

I'm a big Sailor Moon fan, just so you'll know. Admittingly enough, my favorite character was Usagi. And my cousin, was Rei. And we used to pretend we were really them and always draw pictures. My best friend at the time was Minako. I miss those days, yes I do...I would kill to be a child again... I love the storyline. It may get repetitive in the villian scheme of things, but the love story is priceless. Especially when Chibi-Usa comes along and they don't even realize that's their daughter. Man, I miss watching that show...

What would you do if life had an "undo" button?
Queen Asuka replied to Kieko's topic in General Discussion
Well, I guess the things that I might consider "undoing" were things of stupidity that I don't blame on myself, seriously. My parents didn't graduate from high school. In fact, only one person in my entire family did. And that was one of my Aunts. Anywho, I didn't have any clue that at the end of your senior year you would be ranked based on grades. If I'd have know that, I would have worked a WHOLE lot harder so that I could have been higher in the class rank. It just aggrivates me that people who didn't even take Honors classes were in the top ten. I'm sorry, but at least I challenged myself in high school. Also, I would have developed good study habits in high school instead of struggling to do it now that I'm in college. I hate being a procrastinator. *sighs*
