[spoiler'] And by the way, I really do wish it was a misunderstanding with Snape.. but I can't see any way around it. If he didn't want to break the Unbreakable Vow, then that's too bad. If it's him or Dumbledore, then it's not too hard to figure out who's more important. Surely Dumbledore wouldn't have wanted Snape to kill him to continue with the plan.... would he?

Well, I'm PURELY speculating, but I feel like that has to be something that's going to be big in the next book.
The way that there was an entire chapter dedicated to Narcissa and Bellatrix going to see Snape and her making the Unbreakable Vow with him. That vow had to be kept, or else he would die. I think what happened exactly at the scene when Malfoy chickened out and Snape killed Dumbledore is not exactly as it looked to Harry. I just have a feeling that it was beyond Snape's control. Of course, I do see what you are saying, which makes me think my speculations are kind of silly. I mean, I would think that if Snape was working for Dumbledore and the Order then he would sacrifice his life instead of have Dumbledore still around. But THEN, perhaps he did this to show his "loyalty" for Voldemort, and knew, somehow, that this was necessary to have Harry continue on with what had to be done. For only Harry can kill Voldemort, and with Dumbledore gone, it leaves the door wide open for him to get things together and do that. Think about it. When Harry and Dumbledore got back to Hogwards, Dumbledore told Harry to get Snape. And then he said, "Severus, please." or something like that, because he knew that Snape wasn't going to want to kill him. MAYBE it was all a plan from the beginning because Dumbledore told Malfoy that he wasn't the one that was going to kill him. He already knew what Malfoy was up to, and I'm sure that therefore he knew what Snape was up to.
I'm sorry if this is hard to follow, I'm just LARGELY theorizing. We wont know the truth until Miss JKR herself sends the last book our way, but it's always fun to think about. ^_^

I'll probably edit this later, but the one thing I wanted to say is that I still have faith in Severus. I really do. I hate him, and I think he's a bastard, but I have absolute faith in him, like Dumbledore did, until the end. I know, I'm retarded, but I really do have faith.
THAT'S RIGHT EVERYONE. I TRUST THE HBP. SO THERE!!!!!!!
I feel the same way as you, Roxie. I believe that
the only reason that Snape actually killed Dumbledore is because of the Unbreakable Vow, and once he did, he knew he would have to scram. Of course, he's probably not going to be in the Order anymore, but we'll just have to see where that goes in book seven.
And I just wanted to say that I'm really disappointed in most of the posts that I've read here so far. It seems that everyone just wants to find something wrong with the book so that they can have something to bitch about. Even though I felt that the book did start off slow, I felt that a lot of this build-up was necessary, and when I did get to where I started putting everything together, the book was just as exciting as usual, if not more interesting than the others before it. I wish everyone would just quit complaining about this "dream book" that they imagined. Just because things didn't turn out so awesome for your favorite characters doesn't mean that the book was horribly written. I enjoyed the book thoroughly. I enjoyed watching the relationships bloom and fade, I enjoyed being so thoroughly pissed that
I couldn't figure out what the hell Malfoy was up to
, and I enjoyed
the death of Dumbledore, as sad as it was, because it was so amazing all the same.
Quit picking the book apart and enjoy it for it is. It's a set-up for book seven, which I liked. I thought it was a nice change.

... We think it my be Neville because his parents were attacked by The Dark Lord also. We don't know for sure about the scar. He could have one also just don't talk about it much.
[/COLOR']
It can't be Neville. They already stated that at first they THOUGHT it might be Neville, but it ended up being Harry because that's the family that Voldemort attacked. So yeah, Neville is out of the question. I wore my Ravenclaw shirt today because I felt it would be TOO dorky to wear it tomorrow and EVEN dorkier to wear it on Saturday when I go get my copy of the book. >.>;

I have highly anticipated this book, although it just hit me MONDAY that the book is released Friday/Saturday at midnight. For 4 and 5 I was at the midnight parties, waiting for my reserved copy to be handed to me. But now, being in college and in the middle of planning my wedding, I really forgot all about it, and I wont be able to get to Barnes & Noble. I don't have a car, I don't want to be there by myself at midnight, and I don't have any money until my fiance takes me to buy it on Saturday evening. So I'll be a day late, but I don't think it will hurt me very much. One thing that sucks, though, is that I have a huge test coming up next week and instead of reading Harry Potter, I should be studying for it, but I don't want to! In preparation for the sixth book, I'm re-reading OotP since I re-read all the others just a few months ago. I figure I might as well read the closest one to what's going on because I've only read it twice, this being my third time. I am so happy for Harry Potter. Ravenclaw for life! I don't really have any expectations going into this book, except that I am SO freaking excited to see how they did on the O.W.L.s!! That is the most anticipated thing for me, and I am such a dork. All the other stuff I'll read when I get to it. I want to know about those dang tests! And Percy. I want to know about Percy.

Well, I'd be more of a Barbie type figure than an Action Figure. I'd be the Queen of Plushies Barbie, with long blonde hair and pink streaks, a big Ruffly Dress, a Magical Plushie Wand, a minature version of the Retarded Cow, and an assortment of Plushies, most especially including Mini-Ken. Yes'm. And THEN, if I was a villian, I'd be Scissor Girl, but that's a whole different story for my dining hall and a different day.

I'm about to ask the woman i love to marry me
Queen Asuka replied to Lightwing's topic in General Discussion
Wait until you're much older and have a steady job... like the military.
Yeah, what a GREAT steady job that is. "Hi, hon, I love you, so let's get married. In the meanwhile, I'll go overseas for months at a time, leaving you all alone, and with a very high risk that I'll be killed." Sorry if I sound bitter, but yeah. -
James, if you want some help writing the last post for this chapter, I'll be glad to step in and see what I can do, since I know you're busy and whatnot. I'm about to have a good bit of free time and it would be nice to have a little project to work on. And perhaps I could converse with Tony and get some ideas about his character and maybe where he wanted to take his post or such. Just let me know, Jamesness.

What Does your sig, avi and username say about you.
Queen Asuka replied to shinji172's topic in General Discussion
Well, like most people have probably already stated, I would say that you are REALLY going through a Peach Girl phase right now, seeing as how your username is Momo and your banner and avatar are both of her. She tends to be flirty, and fights for what she believes in, and a hopeless romantic, and so you live vicariously through her, wishing that your life was her sort of fairy tale where no matter how many bad things happened to her, her man would always pull through for her. By they way, I love Peach Girl, lol. -
I don't know what I would do if I visited Japan. I want to visit, sure, just because back when I was kid into anime the culture fascninated me to the extent where I would like to see many of the references first hand so I could actually try and get the full meaning, but yeah. I would hate to feel inferior, like some "tourist," which is all I would be. Poor blondes.

I know that there isn't a set amount of time between each post, but I was just curious why it's been almost two months since the last update. James, I have all faith in you to see this thing through to completion, I was just hoping that if I said something in this thread, it would spark some motivation. ^_~
I've had a lot of crushes in my life. My cousin and I had plans to marry each other, once. We were three. :) Cute, huh?
I had a cousin like that, lol. Glad to know there is yet another way to relate to Miss Sara. As for me, my first love was named Jeffery. And we grew up together. Our parents were friends and we had known each other for so long, he was at my first birthday party. His little sister ended up being my best friend. When we were really young, I used to play with them, but then I didn't see them for years. Then all of sudden about the sixth grade we were reunited and it was so blissful. I just KNEW that Jeffery was the one. We dated on and off ALL during middle school, which was sort of weird seeing as how we went to different schools and such and he was good at "cheating" on me. But I was so obsessed with him. He was my Han Solo and I was Princess Leia. When we were together he would make me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. It was a good feeling at that age, I would think. So pure and nothing sexual. Then he started getting into the "pretty girls," girls with nice hair, tight clothes, and lots of make-up. We just weren't meant to be. We settled down being BEST friends and I can happily say that I still feel love for him in my heart, even though we haven't spoken in years. He went into the military, so I'm not sure exactly how he's doing, but I heard he's got himself a nice girlfriend. And hey, I got myself a nice boyfriend, so it's all happy and such. I do miss his friendship, though. And the nights where we would stay up ALL NIGHT playing Tekken 2 at my Aunt's or watch Star Wars like there was no tomorrow. Sadness.

I always imagine flying as a very magnificient sensation and regret that I have yet to experience, unless you count airplanes, which I don't. I would fly to classes, not having to bother to walk or try to get on the bus or anything stupid like that. I know that is such a silly answer, but getting to and from classes using a city bus is SO SO SO SO SO annoying, especially when there are pissy bus drivers. I don't know, I would just want to fly for the sake of flying, I think.

What a fun thread. My hair color is naturally dark blonde, and since I have VERY long hair, if I were to get my highlights done at a salon it would cost me over a hundred dollars. So instead, I buy a kit (usually Clairol, I think) and I pull it through the cap (by myself, which takes hours) and then bleach my own highlights. It's kind of fun to be able to say that you did it yourself. This summer I took some tinfoil and put pink streaks in my hair. It was so very very very fun. Then, about three weeks ago, I re-highlighted my hair and decided to re-do pink streaks. So I used the rest of my pink dye (Special Effects-Cupcake Pink) on the front part of my hair. At first I really didn't like the way it turned out, but it has grown on me. People say it brings out the blue in my eyes. So, here is a HORRIBLE pic of me (after romping around all day, so yeah) and it was right after I did my hair so it is VERY bright. It is much lighter pink now, and lots prettier: And, in the same day that we did my hair, we did Ryan's hair blue (Special Effects-Blue Haired Freak). Since he has black hair, we had to bleach it first and that was SUCH a scary ordeal. And then we put on the blue and it was absolutely beautiful. His is more of a cyan color now and almost grown out, but here's what it looked like when we first did it: So YAY for colored hair! ^_^

I thought of about two or three more of these that are SO SO SO annoying: *When people chew their gum with their mouth open. What the HECK?! Especially when it's dumb blonde bimbo-looking girls and they look like cows chewing cud. Everytime I see someone doing this I have to refrain from telling them this fact. But it bothers me SO BAD. *People who call themselves ugly or fat for attention. Now, on occassion I will say that I'm fat and sometimes I feel like I have the right to because of my pudgy-stomach. But when little beanpole flat-stomached girls call themselves fat I just want to MURDER THEM. And when girls call themselves ugly, how can they expect anyone to think otherwise? It's the highest form of vanity, I think. *People who walk slow. When I have 15 minutes to walk from one class across campus to the other, you better believe I'm booking it and you better get your *** out of my way. I hate having to get in the street off the sidewalk to pass someone who is walking slow. That's all for now! ^_^;

Last semester I read a book called Left Hand of Darkness which touched on this topic HEAVILY. And so, I wrote my paper for that class on this subject alone. And many of the points you brought up the same things that I talked about as well. See, in this book the main character (it is in the future, mind you) travels to this planet to get them to join some sort of alliance of worlds. He finds that all of the people on this planet are genderless except at a certain point every couple of weeks called kemmer. When in kemmer, they can take on either a male or female reproductive organ so that sex is possible. It touched on so many issues dealing with this because the main character was considered a pervert because he was in "permanent kemmer." But yes, it is so funny to me about how babies are treated. All babies look the same when they are born, boy or girl.

Well, by the way you guys seem to be taking this thread, I guess all the music I listen to just about fits into that category. And it is very disgusting to smell. That's not what grunge was all about, okay? Anywho, my favorite band of all time is Stone Temple Pilots, and they are pretty much from that era. Other bands that I am constantly listening to include Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, and other such nifty bands. As for Nirvana pissing on Alice in Chains, well, I guess that's what all the cool kids who ONLY listen to Nirvana say. Nirvana is just way too mainstream. I love their music and I love the availability of their merchandise, but I hate all the kids who think they rock music's world. And Mitch, I would never have thought of Tool as grunge. Interesting.
I don't do myO in blacks, reds, whites because my "life sucks". My life is just fine, I just happen to love the colors, and the pictures I use inspire me. If that's terrible, sorry.
Maybe I generalized too much. It's not so much the people I know: as for you Annie, I've seen your website in every color of the rainbow. I'm saying it's the people who time and time again you see them and they ALL have a black website with red font (and no I'm not referring to Ken, either). Also, they have either Kenshin, InuYasha, or Trigun avatars. Of course, this website IS based off of anime fandom and such, but there are such other pretty colors out there. Like yellow. Or green. Or blue! OR! Well, there are just so many.

What box sets of TV shows do you have, and why did you buy them?
Queen Asuka replied to Morpheus's topic in Noosphere
SailorMoon seasons one and two Simply because sailor moon was my first anime. I really wanted to see it raw (of course it had subtitles, but can you blame me?)
Where did you find those? I've been looking for the original uncut subtitled episodes of Sailor Moon for quite sometime. I haven't researched seriously, but I would love to have them. So yeah. The only boxed set that I own is The OC: Season One. And apparently I am way cooler than everyone here because I own it or something. O_o As for anime series, I own the entire Fushigi Yugi collection, but I bought each volume INDIVIDUALLY for over a year, ALL on VHS, and so technically it's not a boxed set. But it is the whole series, including the OVAs. -
I think I can come up with a few of these: *I hate it when people try to use sexual things to win popularity. Like all of these horny OBers in orgies is just freaking ridiculous and quite frankly disgusting. But then again, what else can we expect from the society were are raised in? *I hate theNorthFace products. *I hate girls who fix their hair every single day. *I hate make-up. *I hate roaches. Especially ones that I bring home with me from my parents house. -_- *I hate it when I make the effort to reply to a thread here on the OB and I get ignored. *I hate it when people assume that my parents live in Utah because I'm LDS. Newsflash: My parents aren't even LDS and are the biggest potheads on the face of this planet. *I hate Hot Topic goths who are so angsty. *I hate how almost every OB site out there is done in red and black because of these "gothic" kids who are so freaking depressed because their life just sucks! Wow, I'm going to quit there before I step on anymore toes. And I didn't even get to fat people yet...haha, just kidding.
-
I'm glad to see you back! All the OB oldies have seem to left us for the most part, so it's good to see you return. You're still on my buddy list! ^_^
I'm totally with you there, babe. Like Tori, I work at a campus dining hall. I'm actually barely working at all this semester (every other weekend, basically), because school does come first--and holy cow, do my classes keep me busy during the week.
Yeah, I only work three days a week and those are pretty slow days so I can really focus on my classes and such.
Working at UDS (University Dining Services) isn't exactly glamorous, but it's an okay job. There are full-time workers and student workers, everyone's pretty friendly (except those NUTTy students who simply must have their ranch dressing *rolls eyes*), and the pay is lovely. My boss is a great guy, and I get along with all my coworkers. The shifts are only four hours at a stretch, and while they're at set times, you completely set your own schedule, choosing which days you can work.
YES, I love our full-time workers and such. And I am TOTALLY feeling you about the ranch dressing thing! I really hate working the salad bar, especially when our toss of the day is the chicken caesar salad. People are like, "Can I get one without chicken?" And I'm all like "If you want it without chicken, the ingredients are already around the salad bar...make it yourself. I aint your mama!" Okay, so I don't say ALL of that, but yeah. And my managers are the coolest people freaking EVER. And dude, how much do you get paid? My pay sucks...only $5.75 an hour...sadness.
It's probably the best "first job" experience I could possibly have. Plus, I eat free whenever I work. (Granted, after spending four hours working in the cafeteria, the food isn't really all that appealing, but still.) My dorm actually has pretty good food, though (others have worse), so it's a pretty good deal. off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of UDS, Sara
FREE FOOD is the main incentive for me to work there. And our dining halls have AWESOME food (The Award-Winning UGA Food Services. Winner of the Silver Plate and Ivy Plate awards and over 55 more awards. Yeah.) and so I feel like a cow eating there. Do you guys have to wear smocks? Heh, so off-topic, but then so not.
