The reason why X: the Movie was so horrible is because they tried to make a 15+ volume manga series into a one hour movie. You just can't do that. And all you Fushigi Yugi fans should know...could you imagine if all that storyline and everything was just chopped up and edited and redone to make Fushigi Yugi a ONE HOUR movie? You CAN'T do it. It doesn't do any justice to anything. That's why I'm so glad that they are making a TV series for X so that people can really experience what X was all about.

The animation in Trigun is really good and detailed and the woman are pretty but they aren't whorish, so it's a good show for anyone to watch (all except for the occasional language and suggestive themes...) But yeah, I mean look at Meryl and Millie. They are some of the coolest heroines ever, and do they have to be super attractive? NO... and look at Rem. She's beautiful and graceful, but she definately does not have the whorish quality that you see in alot of anime heroines nowadays. It's like the animaters are thinking "The bigger her boobs, the more we'll sell..." It's so ridiculous that they have to consider stuff like that to market anime. But like I was saying, and the male characters are very attractice themselves, especially that blue haired guy...but I can't remember his name...I'm thinking Zero for some reason, but I know that can't be it...but he is SOME kind of sexy... (I think they were trying to appeal to the women there... *sweatdrops*) ANYWHO, and Kuro NEKO is so CUTE! Like I always say! :)

The reason that Zechs looks so much better than Char is because GW's animation is about twenty years MSG's superior. You have to consider things such as that.

Yeah, all of the people in Fushigi Yugi have suffered. If you want to look at it from the angle of all the pain that Amiboshi, Suboshi, Nakago, and Soi suffered making them villians, well you also have to look at it this way. Tamahome's family is very poor. They are always targeted. His whole entire family eventually gets slaughtered. He gets made into a bad guy. He inflicts enormous amounts of pain on his one true love and his comrads, but he's not a villian. Hotohori lost his family and was raised as the Emperor at a very young age. He lost the only woman he ever loved to another man who was supposed to become his comrade and suffered emotional pain because of it. He wasn't a bad guy. Chichiri killed his very best friend because he stole his fiance and has the most horrible scar ever (Of course, that scar is very appealing to his character...) and he's not a villian. Mitsukake lost his lover to a disease and he barely missed her, and he could have saved her life. He felt guilty about that and suffered and suffered. He's still a protagonist. See, I could go on and on, but I think you see my point, right?

I wouldn't really say that Amiboshi in ANY way caused the death of Tamahome's family. He wasn't dead and he didn't play as though he was dead, and I just wonder how in the world Suboshi couldn't feel his life force anymore. I think it's all Suboshi's fault, the whole entire thing. He didn't even KNOW if it was Tamahome's fault or not that his brother was "dead", yet he goes and kills his entire family anyway. That was just plain out stupid, and killing for fun, it seems like. That's what Nakago does...he kills for fun.

In my opinion, it's more of their upbringing and how their parents treated them and so forth and stuff like that. Although I'm sure the media doesn't help to influence them somewhat when they are already in a weakened state.

When I go to my nanna's they are always watching some British comedy because my Nanna was born and raised in Scotland, so that's what she prefers. I like Monty Python and the Holy Grail and I think Mr. Bean is funny, too. There is another show that's I've watched that's hilarious where there's this woman named Mrs. Bucket and she doesn't want anyone to know her family is poor. I forget what it's called.

I just don't like him because I just don't tend to be too fond of bad guys. I tend to favor the hero type, the good guy, the one who's going to save the damsel in distress, fall in love, be chivilrous, etc etc, and so NO, Nakago, the evil villian that he is, does not fall into that category. Yes, he had a hard life with a tragic childhood, but hey look at Amiboshi. He saw his parents get killed right in front of his face, and you don't see him trying to get revenge on the entire world. In fact, he's all on Miaka and Suzaku's side and wants to do things peacefully. So I really never considered him a villian. Now his brother on the other hand, Suboshi, he was some kind of evil, but his was more like a cry for help. He was in love with Yui and he saw her slipping through his fingers. Then he thought his only family, his twin brother, was dead. He was just very hurt. That's why he went and got revenge on Tamahome. Not the entire world, that's my point...

So who exactly are the new members of this RPG and are there any special things that we need to know before we get started?
-
What in the world do you consider evil then if it's not a person that's bent on nothing but revenge! That's almost the defintion of an evil person! And so yes, Nakago is very evil. He is the epitome of evil! And that is why I don't like him. Is it just me, or do you want to associate with someone who just grabs up and innocent little bird and squeezes it to death for no reason?

Well, I wasn't in the other one, but I figure this one should be fun. Name: Angelina. Age: 17. Race: Half Elf. Weapons: An ancient looking bow and a short crystalline sword, given to her by her grandmother, who was an elf. Bio: Angel's mother's side of her family are elves. Her father's side is human. Her mother met her father and fell in love with him, marrying him, despite the wishes of her race. Angel has had to live a hard life because of this fact, torn between two separate races who don't seem to want her. Appearance: She has long silvery blonde hair and deep blue eyes. She wears a white outfit at all times, a representation of innocence and purity. Alrightness then...sounds good enough to me.

Anime Which anime do you think has stood the test of time?
Queen Asuka replied to Ben Holiday's topic in Otaku Central
And I have to say, expand your horizons and watch more anime than what's mainstream. -
All of the elves so far have signed up to be in the same location. I think I'm one of the only ones who didn't. Now my character is all alone and stuff... The avatars are pretty to me. I can't believe no one has thought of doing that before though. And ALSO...watch this smiley. Just stare at it. It's mesmerizing.... :worried:

Well, I'm glad to say that I have a life and it doesn't revolve around watching Fushigi Yugi all the time! :toothy: But anyways... I do not like villians, not in any show really. Especially Nakago. I mean, sure he was pretty, but he was so vile and so evil. And he basically used Yui and lied to her and didn't really protect her like he should have. That wouldn't be the type of people that I'd want to be associating with and everything. I'd need people around me that I could actually trust and everything. And ALSO, it wouldn't be any fun just to get the Shinzahos and then summon the beast god. Then you wouldn't be able to make a set of remarkable new friends who love you and care for you and protect you with their life. That's what the whole point of the story was, not just to summon the beast god. So yeah...

Alright, here's my sign up and everything. Character Number: 12 Name: Arianna Starbreeze Age: Appears to be 17. Location: Nuroa Village. Bio/History: She grew up on the ocean, in the town of Nuroa Village. Her mother and father bothed were killed in an accident on the sea when she was a very small child, and so she has a fear of turbulence and storms. She grew up with her mother's best friend who had a son who she was very in love with, but she could never tell him how she felt. He was soon married to another girl from the village, and so she felt as though her soul was broken. Personality: Aria is very quiet and seems almost melancholy. She doesn't really have any friends although she hates to be alone. She searches for companionship, for someone who can understand her and the things she's been through. Weapons: A very beautiful bow crafted by the son that she was in love with. He gave it to her as a parting gift because they shared such a close friendship. She treasures it always. She also has a quiver of arrows. She doesn't prefer to use weapons, though, as she wants to search out a peaceful solution instead of resorting to violence. Items: A small carving knife, some healing leaves, a mystical mirror that was left to her from her grandmother, one emerald ring, and a bit of rope. Black Magic Spells: Has to power to create a tsunami in times of fear and anger. Ability I: Healing power. She can heal deep injuries, although it takes away lots of her strength. Ability II: She has the ability to use dance moves to hypnotise her enemy and weaken them. Alright...I hope that's good enough and everything. If there's anything wrong with it, let me know please.

I don't know if I had ever even heard of this series until now, but I really want to see it! Just reading about it here has me convinced that this is my type of anime show right here. Of course, I'll just wait until I can get it on DVD so it will be subbed and dubbed together. I have a big thing about waiting for DVDs all of a sudden. But yeah, does anyone have any pictures of the characters and stuff because I want to see what the characters look like to see if I recognize them or anything.

Chiriko never seemed to risk his life for Miaka and he was a celestial warrior. Man, I wish I could have been Miaka and went back into Ancient China and had seven gorgeous guys pampering me. I wouldn't mind being the Priestess of anything (except Seiryu...), as long as I could have those kind of people devoted to me all the time, risking their lives for my well being. And then, I could fall in love like Miaka/Tamahome and the Priestess of Genbu I believe it was that feel in love with that one warrior guy...GRR...I really need to watch the series over so I can get all my names straight again...

Well, if we want to go based on looks then Shinji (Eva), Makoto (El Hazard), and Tenchi (well...DUH..) all have that same generic look about them. Also, Lum (Urusei Yatsura) and Shampoo (Ranma 1/2) have almost the same exact hair. Of course, they have the same creater, too. Same with Makoto and Tenchi, they were both designed by the same person. Personality wise...HMMMMMM...I'd actually have to sit down and think and get back to you on that one. Situation wise, Tenchi and Akito (Nadesico). How can they have so many women around at all times and not like ANY of them???

Anime Which anime do you think has stood the test of time?
Queen Asuka replied to Ben Holiday's topic in Otaku Central
I still think Urusei Yatsura, even though it's not all that popular. How can anyone resist Lum? She's so cute, with her green hair and little horns...YEAH, I like that series. I like Mendou...he was an awesome character...ANYWHO... Yeah, Gundam is alright, but I still think UY. -
I actually agree with that. I like the point you made. Tasuki always had a thing against Tamahome because he remembered how he had hurt Miaka back when he was evil (and how he also seriously kicked his butt, too...). So yeah, the little sister thing is a really good theory.

See, I just never was a big Hotohori fan, and I never really will be, no matter how many times I watch the episode about him and his son. And I think I actually laughed on the episode where he died. Not laughed, but I was slightly amused. Now, a character we haven't really discussed is Tasuki. I just don't know what exactly to think of him since his whole, falling in love with Miaka thing. I believe that was quite absurd. I mean, he's never been the type to even seem like he's in love with a woman, and I surely thought him and Nuriko was going to have some sort of a thing together. I don't know, it just shocked me and everything. Tasuki, I figured, was the one who was supposed to skip over the mushy stuff and just be sort of the comedic relief. Of course, the OVAs are much more deeper than the actual TV series. I've only seen the first two volumes, though.

Manga usually comes before the anime, like it leads the way or something. Then they read the manga, realize how great it is, and want to make it into a TV show or movie. That's USUALLY how it goes down. Of course, with Evangelion they did it backwards. They saw the VERY AWESOME show and then decided to follow it up with a manga series, which is quite good, I might add. It's really cute and slightly altered from the TV series.
-
I have a problem choosing because I fall in love with almost every manga series I read. Right now I think my favorite is Paradise Kiss, published in Smile magazine monthly and Peach Girl. I also like anything by CLAMP, especially X and I like Sorcerer Hunters, and the Sailor Moon manga, and Inu Yasha, and Fushigi Yugi, and Marmalade Boy was cute, and Parasyte was awesome, and I could just keep going on and on, but yeah, I LOVE manga. It's AWESOME!

Anime Which anime do you think has stood the test of time?
Queen Asuka replied to Ben Holiday's topic in Otaku Central
Well, you ask for Anime, and then you say please no TV shows? I think you lost yourself in your own confusion and forgot what you were talking about. For one thing, anime is Japanese and there couldn't be any American film anyway! GEEZ... Well, I'm still going to name a TV show. And I'd have to say Urusei Yatsura. It's slightly old, but it has stood the test of time and it's still very good animation with a really cool storyline. Ah how I love Rumiko Takahashi's work. -
