Why do I see no Haruhi in this? D: Besides Haruhi 2, I'm probably only going to watch Genshiken. I have trouble getting to watch new anime, and if I do manage to get into one, I can get horribly obsessive. Right now, I currently have no interest into starting a new anime unless I start to find a large amount of memes generating from it. I do love Mokke's art style though. ;D
I can't decide which is more shocking, that you were in that situation, or that I actually broke my eyes attempting to read that affront to grammar. Well, I'm not sure whhat you're really looking for. I guess it would be an oportunity to share negative con experiences, but I myself have never been to a con. I've never heard any stories as wild as yours either. I do know of one incident where a guy fell on his hand and it swole to the size of an orange and he still pressed on to buy more doujins. Eventually he got bumped into and fell uncoscious, and they wheeled him off on a stretcher.
Something seems Genshiken~ @Topic: That must've been a very bad experience, but personally, I wouldn't recommend talking back and acting smart to the security/police. They have the power to ruin your vacation and your record, so I would just follow suit with what they say. May I ask what convention this was?

God this is hard. >_> It's so difficult to determine what popular series does have extraordinary super powers, and what doesn't. What makes it even more arduous is the fact that most shounen anime, the kind that I like, has that kind of stuff. 1. Azumanga Daioh 2. Cowboy Bebop 3. Black Lagoon 4. Genshiken 5. Ouran High School Host Club 6. Hana Yori Dango 7. Lucky Star, just for the heck of it.

(,,#゚Д゚):∴;'・,;`:Help me, Erin~ Firefox crashed on me while finishing up my last attempt to make this thread. So I will keep it short. \(^▽^*)Welcome to the OtakuBoards Touhou Project Thread~(*^▽^)/ Click on the picture above for the full 2127x600 pixel version of (almost) all the inhabitants of Gensōkyō, the setting of Touhou~ Sadly, I can't name all of them for you, but it's a wonderful picture to look at anyway, right? What is Touhou? Also known as Toho Project and Project Shrine Maiden. Very popular in Japan, and there are very notable danmaku/shoot-em-up games in the series. It's created by Team Shanghai Alice, but so far, the only member ever recognized is one called "ZUN". This sparks up the rumors that the entire project is made by one man. Part of its popularity is due to the fact that the storeis of the characters are focused on more. And as you can see above, there are quite a lot of characters. Here are the games according to Wikipedia: * 2.1 Highly Responsive to Prayers * 2.2 Story of Eastern Wonderland * 2.3 Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream * 2.4 Lotus Land Story * 2.5 Mystic Square * 3.1 Embodiment of Scarlet Devil * 3.2 Perfect Cherry Blossom * 3.3 Immaterial and Missing Power * 3.4 Imperishable Night * 3.5 Phantasmagoria of Flower View * 3.6 Shoot the Bullet * 3.7 Mountain of Faith * 3.8 Scarlet Weather Rhapsody All of them are shoot-em-ups except Immaterial and Missing Power, which is a fighter created by both Team Shanghai Alice and Twilight Frontier. As you can see, it can get pretty chaotic. Screenshot from Touhou 10 Screenshot from Immaterial and Missing Power The Fanbase One of the great things about the Touhou Project is the fanbase. There are so many beautiful doujins, fan art, and music for it. An honorable mention is IOSYS. This group is most well-known for making the incredibly popular Internet meme, Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, based off of a song in Perfect Cherry Blossom. "Stops at the diseased part and melts quickly - Lunatic Undongein" and "Usa Tei" have also been parodied a fair amount of times. In fact, why don't I explain a bit about them? 患部で止まってすぐ溶ける~狂気の優曇華院, or "Stops at the diseased part and melts quickly - Lunatic Undongein" is another of IOSYS' works that became a somewhat famous meme on the Internet. Click here to see the animation of it. I would link to IOSYS's flash directly, but right now it doesn't seem to be working, so I'm relying on YouTube now. It parodies "Invisible Full Moon" and focuses on Reisen and her bullets. More specifically, what her bullets look like. One of my favorite parts occurs when the two girls start talking about how horrible going on Easy Mode is. It definitely proves that IOSYS, or at least someone on IOSYS, is a major 2channeler~ (Although it was pretty much proven with their "theme song") "Usatei" is IOSYS's new release and it's already being heavily parodied. Click here for the flash animation of it. Another mention is TAM/TAMUSIC. They have made several beautiful orchestras and compositions with their "Touhou Violin" songs. Other individual songs... "Tsurupettan" by Silver Forest. A cute song focusing on the "flat-chested" characters. Reimu, Suika, Youmu,... etc. It references several memes like iDOLM@STER's"tokachi tsukuchite", "Let's Go! Onmyouji", Higurashi's "Oyashiro-sama", etc. It has become a meme on 2ch/Nico. Click here for a flash animation of it. "Help me, ERINNNNNN!!" by COOL&CREATE. Another song that has become a rather big meme amongst 2ch and Nico Nico Douga. In fact, the whole theme of it was inspired by a 2ch chat. Because the character Eirin is a nurse-like person, you can probably assume why it's called "Help me, ERINNNNNN!!" _, ,_ ∩ ( ゚∀゚)彡 えーりん!えーりん! ⊂彡 As for doujin games for Touhou, one of the more popular ones is Super Marisa Land, but I don't know much about it because I really didn't feel like getting it D: Resources Here's some links for people who are interested in playing. Immaterial and Missing Power Gameplay Video Mountain of Faith Gameplay Video. Fortunately, I believe this is the hardest mode >_> Shoot the Bullet Gameplay Video Phantasmagoria of Flower View Gameplay Video Anyone play these games? Favorite characters? Etc? I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I do like both the fanbase and some games, including IaMP and PoFV. My favorite characters are probably Eirin (Only because of the fan-made song "Help me, ERINNNNNN!!"), Sakuya, Suika, Youmu, Reimu, and of course, Reisen.
Konata, if your picture is stretching OB's layout, please us a link instead. I changed it for you this time. ~indifference
Σ(゚Д゚|||) Ack, it was stretching the layout? I didn't notice that D: Because 640 pixels is usually the largest width size that doesn't stretch the page on forums, I thought it'd be okay, haha~ But now that I look at my signature, always 500 pixels long, that picture would stretch the layout, not the page. Sorry for doing so~ (。_。) Resized to half the size for convenience~ (Do I just delete this conversation if it's been fixed?) Still editing for more updates.

I used the Search function and there wasn't anything about Melty Blood, so I guess I'll make a topic for it. So, without further ado... \(^▽^*)Welcome to the OtakuBoards Melty Blood Thread~(*^▽^)/ What is Melty Blood? To put it simply, it was a doujin fighting game made by Type-Moon based off of Tsukihime. I know that some of the characters are pretty popular in the MUGEN community, like "Shieru" (Ciel), Kohaku&Hisui, Hisui, Kohaku, Warachia/Warakia, Warcueid/Red Arcueid, etc. There have been several versions of this, the main ones being: Melty Blood - The original. Melty Blood ReACT - Second version that had a completely changed look and fighting system. Better balanced, and many errors were fixed. Melty Blood ReACT Final Tuned - The final version of Melty Blood ReACT. Some fans developed a NetPlay for it as well, basically allowing people to fight each other online. However, unless both of the fighters have very good computers, then they were most likely going to lag horribly or desync. Melty Blood Act Cadenza - This was released on PS2. The look was changed again, and the characters Neco Arc, Aoko Aozaki, Neco Arc Chaos, and Kishima Kouma were added as playable characters. I think that's it... New stages too. Story Mode was taken out. It's also available in arcades. Melty Blood Act Cadenza Version B - Released about a month ago. It's practically MBAC put on the PC, but it has some new additions. White Len is now playable, Neco Arc Chaos is very easy to unlock, and you can also unlock a mode where you fight MBAC's version of G-Akiha: NecoChaosBlackG666. Some new stages were added, Tag Mode and 2-on-2 Mode were made. Although a NetPlay isn't implemented as of yet, the makers of the Immaterial and Missing Power NetPlay, are rumored to have trying to make one for the game. NetPlay For those who have Melty Blood ReACT Final Tuned and would like to know how to use NetPlay: 1. Download NetPlay here. 2. Register and download Hamachi here. 3. Make sure that you don't have any Replay folder in your Melty Blood ReACT folder. If you do, then move it or delete it. 4. Open Hamachi and either create a network or join an existing one. Unless you know of a specific one (like a network on a forum), then just create one. Let's say someone else has joined your network. We'll just call him "Shiki" because it's easier to type that. 5. Decide whether Shiki or you are hosting the battle. If you are hosting... 1. Open up NetPlay and press Enter, Enter, a number through 1-9, and Enter again. The number represents the frame skip. Experiment a little with the number because it's different with a lot of computers. I personally choose 7, while some may choose 4. 2. Wait for Shiki to do what he's supposed to do, and if all goes correctly, the game should start. If you are not hosting... 1. Open up NetPlay and type in your opponent's Hamachi IP address. Then press Enter. Make sure Shiki has already hosted before you do this. Then the game should start. What is DeSync? DeSync is short for De-synchronization. When playing in NetPlay, you might experience this. Here are some common things that happen when desync-ing. 1. If you are in Windowed mode, it'll say "Desync?" on the tab. 2. Your opponent will repeat the same attack/move over and over 3. You can't run longer than a second. 4. When the round ends, the game will freeze until you or your opponent has exited. Resources Some links of videos for those who are interested. Melty Blood Act Cadenza Arc Drive and Last Arc Exhibition Video Hisui vs. Nanaya Shiki Video NecoChaosBlackG666 Gameplay Video --------------------------------------------- Anyone play any of the Melty Blood games? What do you think of it? Favorite characters? If you have MBR, do you NetPlay? If there are some of you out there, we could create an OB Hamachi Network ;D As for me, this is my favorite fighting game. It's very easy to excel at because of the easy controls. I love the characters. Kohaku, Hisui, Hisui&Kohaku, Neco Arc Chaos, Ciel, Red Arcueid, Miyako Arima,... I like them all. (・∀・ )

I've tried to make a manga before but one of the major problems I had was starting it. I'm very uncreative, and I'm never satisfied with my work. If I wasn't such a procrastinator too, that'd probably help. I'm not sure what you mean about the basic steps. As in drawing it? Overall? Or something else? Right now, I think you already have a good start because you're labeling the foundation of it. Right now, the main thing I'll suggest is to find inspiration or some kind of strong motivation for drawing. Then, if you're a procrastinator like me, set a schedule for yourself. And then just draw. Sorry, I would give a lengthier suggestion but... I'm a bit distracted now with Wario Ware >_> Sorry I couldn't help much ^-^'

Some people have asked if I had a Facebook so I recently signed up for one =D I just recently discovered the Graffiti wall. This is my first picture: This was mostly experimenting =3

I got an iPod Video, 30 GB version, recently. Seriously, I haven't used any space for video, because I need it for the music. I used to have an old iPod Mini, I think. But my mother lent it out to someone while I was sleeping, and I never got it back. He admitted a year later that he lost it. or broke it, I dunno.

To put it simply, a lot. =P Let me note a few. Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu, sung by Katou Emiri, our lovely Kagamin~ CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA, sung by Hirano Aya/Konata Valentine Kiss, sung by Fukuhara Kaori and Hirano Aya, a.k.a. Tsukasa and Konata Shouri da! Akumaizer 3, sung by Hirano Aya/Konata. And a lot of other Lucky Star renditions of songs. (Doraemon~) Lately, I've been also listening to Katamari Damacy songs. "Que Sera Sera", "A Crimson Rose and a Gin Tonic", and "Katamaritaino" are a few examples. I love the irony of hearing a man singing lyrics like "I'm so in love with you, I want to wad you up into my life~"(?) while battling it all out in fighting games. Another song is "You" from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Such a peaceful song~ "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing" - IOSYS. Rather, the other parodies of it. One of the ones that I almost always listen to now is the Higurashi version of it. With the constant Rena's "USO DA!", Mion's horribly hilarious laughing, etc. Of course, that 2ch/Nico Nico Douga MAD remix song, although I don't know the name of it. Ketsumeishi... Been listening to them too. And now I'm listening to Junkyousha no Yubi from the ALI PROJECT.

Wii - WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Oh, that is such an entertaining game, but it's such an embarassing thing to play as well. One night, my mother walked in the room to see me flailing my arms around at the TV. Gotta love those interesting stances. My personal favorite is "The Mohawk". DS - Pokemon Diamond. Although my party consists of only the pokemon I find cute, leaving it horribly unbalanced, I still like to play the game in my free time. GameCube - Super Smash Bros. Melee? I think that's where I put it. PS2 - ...Well, I'm sure there's not a game that I can play in there. If anything, it's probably either a DVD, Tsuruya's character CD, or that Motteke! Sailor Fuku single. PC - Guild Wars. Although I haven't been playing at all.

It really depends on you, but yes, this is definitely a difficult question to answer... So this may be bias, because I'm in high school too, but I am a college student as well. I would personally say that it's never to early to start working towards the future. I mean, the earlier you start, the more doors will probably open to you, I should say. And just because you didn't do too well in the past, it doesn't mean you can't change and become successful. It's if you don't change that it will affect you more horribly. As one of my teachers says, "You can get it if you really want it". Almost anything, you can get if you are willing to put forth an effort to obtain it. The only thing that you can't get more of, even if you want it badly, is time. So I would start now, before it's too late. Edit: Hope that helped at least a little bit >_>

I love traditional music as well. I can't name any groups or anything though, sorry. I will note that I liked the songs in last year's AcaDec Music section, regarding China. They had one or two modern songs, but most of them were traditional or 70's ish.

Well, there hasn't been any official updates regarding what the season is about, I don't think. But I think it's highly likely that it will be The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. Basically, it's about how Kyon discovers one day that Haruhi is no longer sitting behind his desk, and no one in his school except him remembers her. Not even Mikuru or Yuki, who don't even remember Kyon. Itsuki has also disappeared, and Yuki's not her usual self. What happened to Miss Suzumiya? Where did Itsuki go? Why is Yuki not Yuki? Why is Shamisen normal? Can Kyon escape from this and return back to the real world where Haruhi exists? Or is this really the real world? And why is She here... Just of bad synopsis of the DoHS that I wrote very quickly. Of course, like the tMoHS, there's probably going to be several in-between episodes that cover some of the side stories. I'm 99% sure the episode Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody will be there because not only did they show a live-action version of it on the main SuzuHaru website during the day of Tanabata, but it is also an important episode that needs to be seen in order to understand a lot of Haruhi material.

Played it for a bit because my friend had it one time. To me, it just seems like a D/P version of Pokemon Stadium. Most of the time, I just clicked one or two buttons the entire time, while hearing the redundant yelling of the NPC announcer. "RIPPED BY ROAR OF TIME!!!" or... "SINGED BY FLAMETHROWER!!" I can't say I really enjoyed it. I admit, I was somewhat impressed by some of the graphics, but other than that,.... No, I didn't care for it.
OMG I can't believe I missed that... I was at AX too but since I got both dvd's at AX I didn't really know who they were. When I heard something called "SOS Brigade Invasion Tour Concert", I thought it was a real concert with a singing group that was popular in Japan. Im pretty sure their not going to do something like that next year right? Or are they?
Eh... Well, it was a real concert. With a real singing group that is popular in Japan. It was like a mini Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara, and Yuko Goto version of Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekisou with English actors involved. Now, although I doubt the same thing probably won't happen again, Aya Hirano did mention in her blog that she was very sorry for performing bad at AX(I personally thought it was pretty good, even though she didn't seem very prepared), and that she promises she will make up for it. We can just wish that there will be a major Lucky Star launch during next year's Anime Expo, so Aya will return ;D

I'm a big fan of fighters, especially doujin soft. Melty Blood ReACT Final Tuned and Melty Blood Act Cadenza Ver. B are my absolute favorite games. (Btw, if you have NetPlay for MBR, let's battle =D ) I also like Immaterial and Missing Power, Guilty Gear, and Super Smash Bros. Melee. As for the MB series, I just found it extremely fun because it involved characters that I could actually know about (If you read Tsukihime), and because it's so easy to learn how to play. IaMP is fun because it's almost like a fighter/shoot-em-up, since the Touhou characters attack with a lot of bullet-like projectiles and what not. Sakuya = =3 I j/k about that one. [strike]I only haven't played LKS because I don't have any more room on my HD D:[/strike]

Hmmmm... I bought Haruhi Suzumiya's uniform cosplay for about $400 over in the Shibuya district. And all together, I think I have spent around $900+ on Haruhi merchandise? Oh well. I love the uniform. It's good quality.
That might be true in Japan, but are most of us on here Japanese OR living in Japan? No, no we're not.
>_> Actually, I'm half... (Ironically half korean too lololol =( )

Actually I was a bit reluctant to coming here because it had "Otaku" in it. But it seemed like a reasonable and good community, (not to mention TheOtaku is a pretty good news source) so I'm fine with it ^-^'

Hm... About 99% of my playlist is Japanese songs. Some of my favorite singers/bands are: (This might be a bit long) GO!GO! 7188 - I just love how the lead sings. Favorite songs include Kangaegoto, Kunoichi, Umashikamono (lol) Shiina Ringo - I like her songs, especially ones with a precise, but soothing instrumental background. Kabuki no Cho(?) is an example... Although Yami ni Furu Ame is my absolute favorite. ORANGE RANGE - I started liking them with Asterisk, but now I like most of their music, although I can't specify what songs at this moment. ALI PROJECT - Oh God, their voices,.. the background music... Their composition is just beautiful. I like GOD DIVA, Kinjirareta Asobi, and.... forgot D: Chiaki Ishikawa - I will always regret not going to her concert despite having tickets. Her voice is awesome. Especially in See-saw songs and Uninstall. Tsukiko Amano - Well, I don't like all of her songs, but the ones with a traditional Japanese feel to them make me smile =D BoA - Well, don't know if she counts, lol. But her work is extraordinary. "Duvet" was probably my absolute favorite song of hers. Scoobie Do - I love his voice. In fact, I'm going to listen to his music right now. "Parade" and Gungrave's "Akane iru no Moeru Toki" = awesome. SEAMO - Okay, maybe not my favorite band, but "a love story (Album version) with BENNIE K" was so great, I'd listen to it on repeat for long periods of time. RIP SLYME - I have listened to 黄昏サラウンド 107 times.
Ah. Too bad. :( I have that poster too. They were giving them away at Anime North. It's hanging in my girlfriend's basement cause I don't like it enough to keep it for myself. xD -r2
XD They were giving them out like crazy. I got my first one over at Fanime when I bought the LE box set and I got my second after doing that HHY impromptu thing at the Anime Selects booth at Anime Expo. But I gave that to a friend. I could've gotten my third at the Bandai Entertainment booth too but decided against it, so I got my thrid for the autographs.
-
Anime Expo was really strict when it came to photography and recording, especially at the SOS Brigade Invasion Tour Concert and Aya Hirano and co. Panel. Not even Press could take pictures at the panel... I would've asked if I could take pictures in the autograph signing room but the atmosphere was way too intense, AX Staff were everywhere, and... I was just satisfied that I got to meet them in person, thank them, say a few words to them, etc. The closest thing I could get to photographing them was me taking pictures of my autographed poster XD That's not even close, either... Below is the image of the full poster. I would link the closeups of the autographs but I'm typing on a very big Japanese keyboard (I'm used to typing on a small keyboard) so it takes me so long to type D: Plus I don't think the other pictures are really necessary. Embarrassing & Yet Fun Things That You Do
Konata replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
I go to random places and if I feel like it, I start dancing to Hare Hare Yukai or Motteke! Sailor Fuku. At first, I had thought to myself that I would never go outside and perform such a weird dance. Bute now...So far, I've danced HHY outside Borders, all over Anime Expo/LBCC, in the park near I live, inside Barnes and Nobles at the Harry Potter 7 event, outside Barnes and Nobles at the Harry Potter 7 event, and of course, at home, and outside of my house. Oh, and at my college. As for Motteke!, I danced that all over Anime Expo/LBCC, home, all over my college campus,... And I think that's it. =3 It's very embarassing but I am the type of person that cannot show their enthusiasm for anime and my favorite things to do by screaming "OMG I LOVE (insert anime character or something here)!!!!!!!" or anything, well..., outgoing. I cannot scream for one, and two, I don't act very girly. >_> Instead, I just dance, I guess. And that's how I show that I like the anime. ヘ(^_^ヘ)(ノ^_^)ノ Oh, and cosplay. Although the only time I cosplayed (as Haruhi/Yuki) was at Borders, Walgreens, Anime Expo/LBCC, some cafe, home, during Halloween, and at the HP 7 Barnes & Nobles event. It's totally embarassing. But it's fun~ After all, as they say, "it's better to make a fool out of yourself than to live your life worthless"~ (-ω- ) -
Geez, YouTube's kicking off a lot of those Abridged Series creators, aren't they? Like what happened to LittleKuriboh ='( or whatever his name was. I haven't seen the Naruto Abridged Series, but I'll see if I can find it somewhere else like DailyMotion. =P
