Discuss A Fantasy RPG Concept, with a Christian Twist
Aethon_Liam replied to Aberinkula's topic in Theater
To answer your question 8bit... you'll just have to wait. But for now, there is one god, God. You can use your mind to figure the rest out. Well, all the religions in our world that don't use magic, use magic in that one. So, say your Wiccan in the RPG, well ebcause of Terraprim's oposition to Earth, Wiccans arten't allowed to use magic. It's vice/versa here. This is also a way of looking at religion in a new wya, not just the way we are used to.
Just a thought, wouldn't that make Satanists, good guys? You did say everything's the opposite. So that makes Christianity a bad religion, and Satanism a good religion. -
This is easily one of the most bizarre things I've ever read on the boards. Cheers to you, good sir! I would really enjoy hearing any ideas you might have for characters or the storyline. Right now it's really too broad an idea to judge one way or another. -Shy
Well... The idea was meant to be as a comedy type rp. With stuff like hyper-dimensional hammers and such, much like a comedy anime show.

Emos, Preps and the Whole Clique team
I think you might not have gotten my point. I was pointing out that you claimed to "hate anything along the lines of stereotypes," and immiediately after saying that you stereotyped a group of people.
No, I found your point quite fast, I was just justifying it. I'm hypocritical, yes this I have found out, but I'd rather be a hypocrite, than keep all my knowledge to myself. -
Emos, Preps and the Whole Clique team
Aethon_Liam replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
THat's an interesting stereotype you've got there.
Well most people in this day and age, do not want to have anything to do with "uncool" people, or people they just in general don't like. Normally they become scared when they find out that some person, whom they hate or dislike for whatever reason, start to seem much like themselves. So, to avoid their "friends" finding out that they may be emo, nerdish, or whatever, they start to put the other person in a different group than themselves, and try to draw an imaginary line between them. People in this day and age don't care about friendship anymore (a few select people do anymore, so why count the .01%?) all they care about is fame, money, sex, and/or drugs. Feel free to question me, or correct me if you want on this as well. -
I'll make this short and sweet. I'm skater and I play way too many videogames, I hate thug types. I think preps are toolbags, and anyone who dresses remotely like a goth should end their life. Indie music sucks, rock music is the best. My clique could kick your clique's ***.
Shall I rant? I shall. Problem number one. Short and sweet was half-way right. Short, yes, but that's about it. Sweet normally signifies something nice. That means, not being an *** about things. Problem number two. Preps are tool bags. By prep, I'm guessing you're meaning the general stereotype; rich, popular, wears clothes that are "in-style". I happen to know "preps" who can fend for themselves. "Tollbags" as you put it, by what I'm guessing, means they are used a lot, and walked over most of the time. Normally, "preps" as you would call them, do the using and walking over of people. Problem number three. Would you like to hear my wardrobe? All of my pants are Tripp pants (you know, the ones with the chains, and skulls and stuff?) All of my shirts are either black, or red, and most of the black ones have either an anime reference, or "nerd" reference, or just some saying. So, to reply to what you said about "dressing remotely like a goth," I've thought about killing myself, found out it wasn't worth it. Frankly, being that "emo" doesn't suit me. Also, I would love to hear your reason for disliking "goths" I'll get a good laugh out of it probably. Problem number four. Music sucking, is a matter of opinion. I personally prefer techno, or classical (yes, the Beethoven stuff for those of you who are wondering.) And finally, problem number five. Since I don't classify myself in a "clique," there's no way your "clique" could beat my "clique's" arse. Even though, I'd like to see you try, not that you ever would, or care to. It would still be funny to watch you and your "clique" to attempt to own me at anything. I would be my own "clique" in this case. Anyways... aside from the rant, I think I've made my side clear. I hate anything along the lines of stereotypes. They are pointless labels that ignorant people use to divide themselves from people they don't like. They have very destructive power, that is often used against people. It cause people to commit suicide (something I am now strongly against.) But... for all you people who can only judge someone by stereotyping them, I'll give you the pleasure of hating one more person. I am, what others would say, goth/emo. I'm not really full blown goth, and I'm not emo enough to cut (also something I'm against, it's pointless, harmful, and just plain stupid.)
I went for Student Council President this year my speech tearing down the groups and how they stay afloat, how the teachers praise some and shun others when they say flat out we are treated eqwually in the school. Just like in real life in the south especially you still see black racsim in court rooms.... This world sucks....:animeangr
I just read that, I agree with you fully Metal. Groups tear each other apart, as well as themselves. They have some kind of hierarchy embedded in their roots, and the more popular people in the groups have "power." Teachers often praise the sports players and cheerleader types, or the students that are smart and show effort. I especially hate when a teacher has a family relative in their class, and they don't have to do anything to pass the class. Also, the black racism in court rooms is pretty sad, and it's not just racism either, it's also sexism. Women today are still treated like sex toys, or slaves in parts of this world, it's sad. This world does suck Metal, but you gotta find that one person that makes living here worth while. -
You see, I've had a couple ideas... not exactly sure how to get them to work, or if they would work right. Glad I saw this thread. My first idea really is just an idea. No title or plot has been thought of yet, just a kind of genre I guess. It's a very vague spin off of Star Wars, with the idea of the "Force". Except, this "force", is brought out when someone drinks one of two flavors of soda. Orange soda, the light side of the "force", and Grape soda, the dark side. There comes a point in time when every kid has to choose between the two. Most people would have a problem here, as I have yet to see someone say they didn't like one of the two. Once the kid chooses which one they want to drink for the rest of their life, they can't drink the other... without suffering some major consequence. Also, as with choosing sides, their are multiple factions, or gangs as they would be called in the rp, in each side of the "force". Some gangs may even disagree with their own side of the "force". For instance, one Grape side gang, may want to use the grape powers to conquer the world, while a different grape side gang would want to use them to destroy the world. Maybe an orange side gang would want to use their powers to help the weak and protect the poor, while a different one would use their powers to obtain places of authority. (I never said the light side was a goody-two-shoes type.) Just thought I'd through that idea out for now. I'll post the other up later.
Lastly, you're an arse-whole for showing this to me. I probably spent 20 minutes staring at it where i should've been doing homework or getting much needed sleep. =P
I'm sorry, but then again, I should have been doing class work when I found it. Doesn't that make us the least bit even? At any rate, it is still just pointless waist of time really. I mean, who cares which side of the brain you use? I certainly don't care about anyone but mine, and even then only ever so slightly. If it really bothers you guys, all you have to do is stop looking at it.
And that's just the male point-of-view. It might shock you, but girls do it too. They might not be as outspoken about it, but it's just as accepted and normal habit as men's masturbation.
Yup, tis be true. I know about like... lots of my friends that just happen to be girls that do (well.. those that don't have bf's... and those that do but it's a long distance relationship.) At any rate, what's so wrong about it? Would you rather go without said pleasure and end up getting all pms-y about it when you haven't, when clearly there is a simple way to have said pleasure back? I think not, but then again, what you do with your body is your own business, and I have no right to say otherwise... I'm just saying that you're missing out pal. Sorry.

I finally managed to make it spin the other way. Only for like 2 seconds, but it did spin counter-clockwise. Anyways... I'm apparently strictly right brained I guess. >.>

I found this link on one of my favorite web-comics rants. It's a test to see whether your right or left brained. http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22535838-5012895,00.html?from=mostpop I, myself, am right brained. The sight also tells you what each side of the brain does. Point to this thread, which side are you? And can you manage to switch your side? (Explained in the link.) I also couldn't make myself left brained.

Name: Aethon Elocine Age: 21 Gender: Male Personality: Aethon is quite and collected. He is often anti-social, but that's just because his outlook on people is that most of them are immature, ignorant, useless sacks of meat. If you manage to prove that you're not one of the above mentioned people, and get on his good side, Aethon can turn out to be a nice and interesting guy to talk to. Weapon: Aethon carries a huge zanbuto. (for those who don't know, think Cloud's Buster sword, and if I misspelled that word, I'm sorry.) He also carries a pistol with him for long range combat, but rarely uses it. History: Aethon grew up leading a fairly normal life. Always had the nessicities growing up, plus a little extra every now and then. He always liked to sword fight, even after growing past that age where kids normaly stop. He always wanted to become better. Eventually one day, his chance arose. He finally had his own money to do things with, so he decided that he'd go train at a local dojo. He started out using your average katana. He trained with it, however much he hated it however, only to hone his technique. Afterwards, he worked out alot, trying to build his muscles up to where he could even think about lifting a zanbuto. Finally came the day where he could both lift, and swing his mighty sword. He began to try as ahrd as he could with it, perfecting all the things he could possibly manage. He's still a bit slugish with it, but he is still a force to be reckonded with. 3 Magic Spells: Sonic Boom- Aethon creates a small sonic boom, that is focused into a small area about the size a cannon ball, that he fires out from his out stretched hand. It causes small damage, but is deafening. Shockwave- Channeling his magic through his zanbuto, Aethon slams his giant sword into the ground, causing a massive shockwave to burst foward with tremendous strength. Sound Dampening- Aethon dampens all the sound in his general area, making it almost impossible to hear him. Appearance: Aethon is 6'1" and looks to have just enough muscle to lift his gigantic sword. He has medium length black hair with silver highlights, that he spikes back in the front, but puts into a ponytail in the back. He has hazel grey eyes. He wears a white t-shirt under a back zip-up hoody, with black Tripp pants with white stiching. He has chains attached to his pants, to give him that nice chain-gang sound, but to most people it's the sound of the Grim Reaper.

Hey Frankie!!! lol, so was this that oh so special idea of yours? Nice, I like it. I'll be joining. Name: Aethon Elocine Age: 19 Gender: Male Blood Type: O+! lol, but really, Dark Blood Appearance: Aethon stands 6'2", and weighs a good 147lbs. He has dark blood red eyes, and long black hair that he keeps in a ponytail. He has naturally tan skin. He normally wears whatever that will make him not stand out in a crowd. Personality: Aethon likes to be left alone by others. In his eyes, the common majority of people are useless and ignorant. He doesn't like to stand out in a crowd of people for this reason, and will go to great lengths to being able to just sit down and have some tea once in a while. He does, however, have a great burning passion for combat. He will stand up for what he believes in, and defend his friends and family at any moment in time. He only backs down from a fight, when it's obvious that their is nothing to gain from it. Biography: Aethon was born into a wealthy, and well known family. Growing up, he had everything he wanted and more. Yet, this bothered Aethon everyday of his life. Why was it that his family, and the few others like his were the only one's with a life of ease? This haunted him till the day he came to realize the importance of money, and the evil's it caused. The one thing that Aethon didn't bother to question, was his martial arts training that his father had allowed him to partake in. Everyday, Aethon would practice with that firey passion of his till he couldn't practice anymore. He always knew that people had to have a way of protecting themselves, or others, no matter what. Weapons: None. Aethon is a living weapon. He doesn't believe in using objects to harm others, or harming them in general. He only wishes to bring some more peace to the world, not blood spilt in vain. Magic: Aethon isn't very skilled in his magical powers, but doesn't really want to be. He finds it powerful, and seductive, evil in the purest form. Aethon does find it useful however. He uses his fire abilities to help him build camp fires with ease, and his wind abilities do have their uses at times. All of the magic Aethon uses is supportive in nature.

Bad side effects OF Fanfiction and Watching anime
Aethon_Liam replied to sayoeimomo's topic in General Discussion
I suppose the only bad effect of my geeky-ness is like Des and Rach's, I tend to lose focus with whatever is around me, except for the centre of my attention. It's quite a weird thing when you realise that someone has been standing in your doorway and you've no idea how long they've been there.
Yeah... that's always scary, because then you start wondering what they were doing that whole time... *shudders*
Good grammar and lack of spelling errors is no indication that something will actually be good.
I guess you're right, errors like that just prove how unintelligent the writer is, not their lack of imagination, and writing ability... in general. -
Bad side effects OF Fanfiction and Watching anime
I have been forced to bare witness to the addictions of Fanfics and even sufferd from it once myself. It is for this reason I believe the there should be a surgeons general warning on all Fanfic sites. WARNING: MAY CAUSE PALE SKIN, INSOMINA, GLASSY EYES, EATING DISORDERS, ATTRACTION TO TERRIBLE WRITTING AND A GENRAL REFUSSAL TO LEAVE ONES COMPUTER! I'm starting the petion. Does anyone care to sign it for me? I've got cookies!
You may have cookies, but they will not sway me!!! Good fanfics do exist... as soon as you see one that doens't have 50 gramar and spelling errors in the first sentence... it should be good. -
Yeah, well I heard that everytime a guy masterbates, god kills a kitten... I find two problems with that though; for one, I don't believe in god, and two, I would've killed my own cat by now I would think... Either way, I find nothing evil about personal pleasuring at all. If your girlfriend's not giving you any, or for any other reason, I think it's perfectly fine for you to. On, a different note, this thread is officially the weirdest I've ever read... period... I'll have nightmares now guys... thanks alot...:animecry:

Bad side effects OF Fanfiction and Watching anime
Aethon_Liam replied to sayoeimomo's topic in General Discussion
This happens to me all the time. Especially after watching a movie or reading a book that I was really into. I explain it like this, you get so emersed in the world you're reading/watching about, that you lose focus of your own suroundings. You eventually become so distant from this world, that you find it "hard" to come back. Thus, the zombieness. You forget what time of day it is, you forget where you are, you might even forget what day, month or year it is. You can even forget names of people. (I've done all of the above... except forgeting what year it was... but I'm probably on my way.) Everyone experiences this in some form or fashion. Some people just don't get as distant from this world as others. -
I do miss the good old days. I was fourteen when I joined, and just four weeks ago I turned 21. So when I say I miss the good old days, it was being a kid and coming to OB everyday for hours. So yes, I do mis the old members. I'm not able to get on as much as I used to now anyway to make new friends, so I cling to the old. ;) I still love this place and come everytime I'm on. Congrats Asuka!!!
I was 13-14 when I joined too!!! We have something in common. By the way, I know you SaiyanPrincessX! We where in that rp about the elemental heroes or soemthing like that. Either way, I know you. ^-^ I had another account, but my constant email changes and lost passwords condem me to the eternal life of new accounts. I used to be Roxas/Phayt/Amon... Yeah, I've been here a while... (I am 17 now... 3 to 4 years...) I believe it's safe to say that I've seen my fair share of the boards average life.
But of course, the problem with this doesn't usually occur with people trying to separate religion and government at all costs, but with overzealous Christians demanding that our religion be the favored one.
And their inlies the problem. In my opinion at least. In my eyes, christians (some not all) like to say that their religion is the only correct religion. No one, and I mean no one, can say that their religion is correct. They can believe it is all they want, but believeing in something doesn't make it true. But to the point of why I'm posting...
1 - Do you think it is appropriate for political candidates to talk about their religious beliefs as part of their political campaigns, or do you think this is not appropriate?
Personally, I don't care. you can tell me what religion you like to believe in all you want, I really don't care. You could even be a satanist. Just so long as your religious views don't block your ability to run a government, filled with people of many different religions.
2 - Do you think it is appropriate for religious leaders to urge people to vote for or against a political candidate, or is that not appropriate?
Anyone can tell you to vote for someone, or not vote for someone, but does that mean you will? Not nessicarily. People of strong will, and mind, will normally do what they want with their lives. Others will do what others tell them because they don't know what to do. It's just how people work. Now, if they start saying stuff like "Vote for so-and-so or I'll/We'll/you'll such-and-such..." then there's a problem...
3 - Thinking about your vote for president next year, how important is it that a candidate SHARES your religious beliefs?
I doubt any candidate shares my beliefs, and if they did, oh well. Two people can believe in the same thing and still be total oppisites. Their are religous murders...
4 - How important is it for a candidate to have STRONG religious beliefs, regardless of whether those beliefs are the same as yours?
I'd like to vote for someone who isn't going to be "I'm a christian. I'm an atheist. etc..." That just shows undecissiveness. (sp?) Also, like I said before, as long as their religion doesn't get in the way of their ability to run a government, I'll be fine with them. Really, religion shouldn't matter in government period. Just so long as the candidate in question is fit to serve. If they aren't, then you got the wrong guy. If they are, well then everybody say "Yay!!!"
PEOPLE, PEOPLE!! i believe a certain movie called Underworld already proved that a Vampire/Werewolf (vampwolf, or werepire?) kicks both their butts.
Quick vote here... how many people in this thread have seen the movie Underworld, or Underworld: Evolution? I have, and yes, a vampire/werewolf hybrid is better, but according to the movie only a few special people can even survive being bitten by both creatures. Besides, the thread is asking vamps, or lycans, not both in the same...
-
I vote neither. Here is my reasoning: 1) You can't actually ask any random person if they think vampires, or werewolves are better. The reason for this is that their are many different outlooks on both species, and you can't really put a fix on which version is the "correct" version. Some versions portray vampires as supreme beings, with the only downfall of not being able to touch sunlight. Some versions portray werewolves as strong, ferocious, man-eating machienes that can't be stopped, except for that silver bullet. 2) Even if there were a "correct" version of both species, there is no way to say for sure that both versions wouldn't be balanced. For example, vampires are undead creatures, they do not die of old age, they do not have to eat, breath, or drink (water). They are stronger than humans, and most of the time have an ability to control a humans actions (if looked in the eye...) However, vampires can not walk in sunlight, and die if they do not feed on blood. Some versions say that like werewolves, vampires are killed by silver as well (like the Blade movies for example...) Other versions say that vampires cant be emersed in flowing water, or touch fire as well (like the Legacy of Kain videogames...) So as you can see, their is no way to say specifically, which species is better. You can ask which species appeals to you more. You're going to have to expect people to say one or the other for some random reason, based on some random version of each species. I personally prefer werewolves to be stronger in physical strength, but weak in their mind and heart. While vampires tend to be weaker than werewolves (yet stronger than humans), but strong in their mind and heart, allowing them to "force their will onto others" through persuasion.

I guess I should post here. I've been a member here on and off over the years, but I've been gone for over a year now, and mostly people will have forgotten about me. Well, a new start wont hurt anyways, right? I'm a senior in high school. I plan on going to college. I love anime and manga. I write poems, and I'm in the process of writing my own story. I draw off and on, mostly tribal looking things. I'm also an avid gamer. So... yeah, that about sums it up I guess. I'm just glad to be back yo!!! lol
