Today is the last day of November, so I thought it appropriate to start the Christmas thread! I know, not everyone celebrates Christmas, but I think it's a fantastic holiday! I love any reason to give people stuff that makes them smile, and it just so happens that presents are great for that! My dad keeps trying to convince the whole extended family that we should have a fake tree this year, but so far no one agrees. I don't care if it's easier to clean up, I like almost everything about real trees! Nothing can replace the smell, the texture or even the hassle that's worth it in the end! I don't really have anything on my Christmas list other than to be allowed to read books again, so I'm not expecting much for Christmas other than some really good food and outrageous relatives, but I think that's enough for me. As for my friends, I'm really excited about giving them their gifts! I've lost some steam these last couple of years, so I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things this year! One of my friends has agreed to help me string up loads of tinsel all over the school. My only disappointment is that the last day of school before Winter Break is Christmas Eve. I really don't want Christmas to be my first day off from school! It's not enough time to be with relatives! So how about you? Anything you really want for Christmas? Any plans? Do tell!

Lol at the people with car and name troubles. My truck is in perfect condition (other than some cancerous rust on the door) and I don't believe anyone has ever spelled my name wrong. There are only so many ways to spell 'Ashley' and people usually go for that one.

Activity from me may be kind of off-and-on since I no longer have a laptop, books, telephone, music, drawing materials, etc. The teacher at the religious ed. thing I was going to sent a letter home saying that I didn't have enough faith and I was asking too many questions. I am kicked out of the class. Seeing as my mom and dad are hardcore Catholics, this does not bode well for me. I'll try to get on when I can.

[/quote] Best. Reasoning. Ever. I got the crap scared out of me by a book cover. I'm reading [u]The Silence of the Lambs[/u] at the moment, and this particular book has Anthony Hopkins on the cover. So when my phone, next to the book, went off I looked over and saw Hannibal Lecter grinning back. I jumped back about 3 feet, knocking stuff all over the place. Now the book is always cover-down.

I guess I've been sleeping weird, 'cause my back and shoulders are all knotted up. I've got all my homework done, but I still don't feel like going to school today. I'll go anyway, though.

I picked up [u]Red Dragon[/u] and [u]Silence of the Lambs[/u] this weekend. I'm currently about 200-something pages into the first one, and I must say that it's even more gruesome than the film so far. Also, I noticed a strange writing pattern while reading the parts with Lecter in them. The book is told in the past-tense. However, whenever Lecter is being described, the writing switches to present-tense. For example, Lecter's cell could be described like 'It [i]was[/i] small and clean.' but then all of the sudden we get 'His eyes [i]are[/i] maroon. He [i]is[/i] a small man.' I'm not sure why the author did that, but I just found it interesting.

Who has some Halloween plans? Any costumes? Does your school/workplace allow you to dress up? I have no clue what it is I'm dressed as, but I have a cape! And a spider. I'm planning on hitting up every house in a 5 block radius with my friends in order to get the maximum amount of candy allowed by our curfews. Luckily, we can get around quickly since one of my friends gets to borrow her mom's mini-van. I'm feasting on Milk Duds tonight.
