Writing 2572: Maybe, the last story I'll ever write
Sabrina replied to Aberinkula's topic in Creative Works
The prologue seems a to flow a little oddly. I?m not sure how to put it. Take the numbers for how long ago it was that Earth died? does the number have meaning? Or would simply using Billions of years ago work? Or how about where you talk about the shockwaves scattering? That seems to be a contradiction. If they were so great, wouldn?t they be engulfing the entire world instead of scattering? It seems like you?ve condensed things to the point that events are overlapping a bit, resulting in some confusion as to what the prologue is trying to convey. I think. >_> I?m not the best at critiquing others works so I?m not entirely sure. I?m also not clear on what this Kingdom System is though I imagine that will be explained in due time yes? Anyway, If you have the first chapter ready, post it! I?m thinking that will help me to see where the story is going. Also, I hope you don't mind the input. :catgirl: -
Writing The Death Note novel: Another Note (manga spoilers ahoy)
Sabrina replied to Dagger's topic in Creative Works

you definitely need to be familiar with the manga--all of it--to enjoy Another Note.
Well that just bites. Just one more thing to add to my list I see. I sure am running into a lot of things here that I've never even heard of before. Hehe. I can see that I'll never run out of new things to check out so long as I'm a member here. :catgirl: -
Now I know there is a thread like this in the Anime Central, but what about those of us who don?t really read or watch much anime? We need a thread for regular reading! I looked and didn?t see anything like that here in the Anthology so I figured I should start one. >_> Though if there is a thread and I missed it? you can just fix it right Sir Allamorph? Anyway, I?ll start with a book I?m currently reading or rather re-reading since it?s been a while. And that would be Her Majesty?s Wizard by Christopher Stasheff. Now borrowing from wiki since I?m lazy? >_> the story goes like this? A PhD student called Matthew "Matt" Mantrell is transported into a fantasy world. In that world, which mirrors our own (but a thousand years ago), magic still reigns supreme. Dragons, wizards, sorcerers and giants are just some of the exotic residents of this world. Most importantly, faith (in the Christ) exists in this world, and largely influences the works of men. Devout men who believe in and follow God- exactly the way the Christian doctrine dictates - will turn out successful in their actions. Matt found himself the unwitting hero who has to rescue royalty-in-distress and help her regain her rule from an evil usurper. Now what makes this book so interesting is the culture shock resulting from an individual abruptly transitioning from our modern relativistic culture into a black and white world. Even if I don?t understand all the Christian philosophy on account of not being familiar with the Roman Catholic Church? the whole concept of moving to a world where things are so clearly defined and poetry results in magic? it?s just a fun read. ^_^ Anyway, I believe that makes it someone else's turn! Tell us what you are reading! And definitely include a bit about it since I'm always looking for something new to read. :catgirl:

Fun poems. I do have a word or two for you, but I do ask that you keep in mind that I am not well versed in poetry. It's just something I find interesting to read for fun. Anyway, there are a few spots I find a little awkward when reading so I'll isolate and bold/underline them. The explination will be after that:
No matter the obstacle, No matter the foil, We make it through, or around, Our love still unspoiled. The river may grow smaller It may float up from the ground. But rest assured, with some time, It will rain back on down. Love can make you warm, Right down to your toe, It fills you up with joy; Your lover seems to glow. The fires of love are tricky, Sort of like the weather. But if you find the fire for you, You'll treasure it forever.
Alright, the first two paragraphs, the words ?or around? and ?on? seem kind of redundant. Try reading it without them, it seems to flow a little better. The third paragraph feels odd as ?toe? seems like it should be ?toes? though changing that makes the last line seem awkward. Perhaps changing it to something like ?your lover just glows? would work? And the final paragraph the words ?for you? seem unnecessary as well since the poem already makes it clear that you are talking about yourself so to speak. So it seems to flow a little more smoothly with out those words tacked on. Anyway, fun poems! I hope you don?t mind the input. :catgirl:

Great idea,Sabrina.
Thanks! :catgirl:
I did some looking around on Cinquian structure, since my poetic knowledge is absolutely dismal, and the two styles I found are rather dissimilar....and both are rather confusing (to me, at least). So I say hang the code, and hang the rules. They're more like guidelines anyway.
You are correct there are some very strict rules pertaining to the amount of syllables in each line or even words used. I chose to stick with the simpler format of what should be on each line and leave the other more rigid rules out. I figured the game would be more fun and inclusive by doing that. I mean the cinquain is a highly structured form of poetry. It requires a fluent and flexible writer. The format commands attention to word choice, word meaning, syllabication, and parts of speech, while at the same time expressing a meaningful message. But that kind of takes the fun out of an informal game in my opinion. And now that I've rambled... I'll make another one. ^_^ Friends Diverse symmetry Going to a movie Such wonderful times and memories Roommate And yes I was thinking of Indi when I wrote that one. Hehe.

What do you look for in a relationship?
Sabrina replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion

As for looks, she has to look young. Plus, small tits, I mean really, what's the big deal about big ones? All they do is jiggle like bowls of ****ing jello, and that's just weird. Also big shirts and sweaters, my dream girl MUST wear big shirts and sweaters. It just makes them look so much cuter >_ -
Hi! Let me explain this thread! It?s meant to be a fun game where anyone can post a type a poem in the format I?m about to explain. ^_^ You see, a Cinquain poem is a five lined poem in the following form: Line 1 - noun Line 2 - describes noun Line 3 - states action Line 4 - expresses a feeling Line 5 - synonym of line 1 An example would be: Sea Shells Sandy Beaches Buried beneath the sand How I enjoy exploring Crustaceans Now that is straight from a lesson on different types of poetry, I borrowed that from a text book. ^_~ Anyway, the idea is for you to post a poem using the format I?ve just provided. I?ll start! Mountain tops Snowy slopes Ice melting under the sun The waterfalls so peaceful and calm Sierras Alright! Next please! :catgirl:

Funtime Thread of Humor and Mirth (and Junk.)
Sabrina replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
XD That Star Wars one is great! I love how it starts with...
I've got a bad feeling about this and ends with The force with be with you... always.
Hehe. Anyway, this video is something that will most likely only make sense to Darren and Sir Allamorph, but still... it's just too funny! I found it after following that link of Darren's to Canon in D in the What are you listening to thread. Hehe! I may not play the Cello, but oh did I giggle over this video. :catgirl: -

Thanks a lot Sabrina, for reviving this thread.
You're welcome Darren. :D I'm only sorry I didn't get to see it on the actual day. Hehe. And it seems that I owe Dessy thanks as well for replacing the image when the first one ended up gone. Otherwise I wouldn't have fully understood just why people were finding it so amusing. ^_^

I decided to give Twilight Princess another run since I really love the game. That and I've never defeated the cave of ordeals. >_> One of these days I'll actually manage to defeat it!. Hehe. Anyway, I'm not that far into the game and it's fun since it's been long enough that I'd forgotten just how much fun it is. :catgirl:

That Pretear one was pretty and looking into it has me wanting to watch the show now. >_> At this rate I'm going to have a huge list of shows to check out. XD Anyway, it's kind of hard to have a favorite when I've seen so little anime. But I do like the opening to Lucky Star. It's a fun and catchy song that I think fits the series rather well. :catgirl:

So if someone you love and vice versa is willing to kill you, I'd say you're past that true love point. It's one thing to die for someone you love, but to just let them kill you? Unless there was something else going on that was forcing them to do so... I would not just let them kill me.
Agreed. That and I'm not so selfless to simply let someone just kill me. That seems rather soap opera-ish and stupid to me. I am so not a character from some silly romance novel. XP Oh my love! For you I would gladly die... *shot* Uh... no.

1. What have your experiences with rudeness on the internet been? Uh... none really. I tend to spend my spare time doing other things instead of hanging out online. At least at places like OtakuBoards. I have seen a lot of others being really rude, all one has to do is read comments over at YouTube to know what I'm talking about. 2. Do you get affected by them, generally? Well other than to be surprised that people can be so utterly stupid, not really. 3. Have you ever been deliberately rude to someone over the Net, and why? No. But then like I just said, I don't really spend a lot of time online talking to others. Though I see that trend changing... it certainly has in just the last week. :catgirl: 4. Do you think there are times when it's justified? I can only imagine that there are times when it is justified. I mean in real life, some people only listen when it comes in the form of a verbal smack that is by it's very definition... rude. 5. Why do you think people feel the need to make unnecessary comments online? (insert Indi's response here)

So yeah, Rach, I just gotta ask ya. *ahem* Is your, uh, is your wife interested in ... photography, aye? "Photographs, aye?" he asked him knowingly. Candid, you know, CANDID photography? Snap snap, grin grin, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more, say no more?
Oh my... XD I think I just died laughing... if that's possible. That is the most amazing prank I have ever seen! :D Words cannot even begin to express how amazing this is... Hehe! I'm beginning to see why Dessy has a fanclub!

He's also OB's resident terrorist so I'd watch out Sabrina.
o_O What!?! O_o Uh... *remembers the poor member that Gavin shot in the introduction thread.* Oh hell! It must be true then! >_< *laughs uncontrollably* Hehe! :catgirl: Anyway... moving back to Traffic Violations, one of the ones that makes me laugh the most is one that my friend got when he was visiting Portland Oregon, by virtue of those automatic cameras they have downtown. It took a picture of his license plate and later he got the ticket in the mail. But what made it too funny was it clocked him going five miles under the speed limit. Naturally he was able to get that ticket revoked. Hehe.

I didn't do anything special other than to go to church. The services were nice along with the music. I didn't do anything with my family since they are a six hour drive away. I thought about it, but my car needs some work so taking it for such a long drive isn't a good idea. I still called them to see how they were doing though. All in all, it was just a nice pleasant day. And having nice weather to go along with it was a definite plus.

Well there is Nightwish's album Once, however my other album that I got recently that I really love listening to is National Treasure: Book of secrets I really like the orchestral music from this movie. It has so many pretty and moving moments that I enjoy hearing. Hehe. I've listened to it a lot since I acquired it.
-
Well right now I'm listening to the soundtrack from National Treasure: Book of Secrets, this song to be exact: Page 47 The violin solo that starts at about 40 into the song is my favorite part. And then I love how it moves to a more grand theme at about 1:20 for a short time. :catgirl:

*thwack* Brat.
Hehe. :catgirl: Anyway, I just finished episode 15. What I loved best about this one was how Konata was worried about her father getting
picked up by the police
for wearing a mask for his allergies. XD And all the April fools day lying? That was fantastic, especially the one the teacher pulled on Konata. In the end the best part was where
the teacher whacked Konata for being kind of a bit disrespectful when she thought the teacher wasn't around to hear her.
Hehe. I just laughed and laughed at that.

I just started one that was loaned to me the other day... Yu-Gi-Oh! And all I have to say is... O_O It is rather interesting, especially that
alter ego
the main character has picked up. Uh... yeah... This is making me feel rather stupid since clearly I know next to nothing about Japanese anime or manga. XP And yes I'm saying I never considered it more than entertainment for children. >_> So shoot me! It is fun though! Even if it is rather dark.

Amen, sistah, preach it! 'Cause people, we got to go outside and tell the world! We got to bring them in so they may par-take of the waffle that is the Lawd's sal-va-tion; let forgiveness cover their sins like rich, warm maple syrup, let them feel the buttah of the Holy Spirit melt across them, so they may be showered with His grace that rains down like powdered sugah over their lives! 'Cause the world is hungry for the Lawd, people! Hungry like they just woke up on Saturday mo-nin' with their mouths waterin', 'cause they can smell the sweet a-ro-ma of truth comin' outta God's kitchen as he prepares the food for their spirit! (Somebody hit me, noowwww....)
Oh lord! *laughs uncontrollably* XD And what makes this fun is I love waffles. They're so tasty! I have a waffle maker since I love having them freshly made for breakfast. :catgirl: And I like having fresh fruit with them too, with a touch of whipped cream. Good stuff!

Smoking Should Only be in 'R' Rated Films?
Sabrina replied to Aberinkula's topic in General Discussion
XD Those pictures are hilarious! :catgirl: Oh how we are all so corrupt! Hehe! We are beyond redemption! Forever lost! *shot* And I'll be shutting up now. Hehe. -

Well, Ireland has a pretty bad road deaths rate, so the Department of Justice and the police are coming down hard on people to get them to drive safer.
Wait... does this mean you are in Ireland? Uh... hold on, that brings to mind a question... are we suppose to stay semi on topic? To avoid things becoming nothing more than a chat room? And why am I asking this when I can just go and whack Crystia? *wanders off for a sec* ... Okay never mind, Crystia cleared that up. XP So... getting back on topic, I did get pulled over the other day, but one of my friends was driving so she got the ticket for going too fast instead of me. XD Can we say ouch? Especially since I told her to slow down less than five minutes before the cop spotted us.
-
I've been pretty lucky about not getting tickets. >_> I don't know why the last cop who pulled me over on my way to visit my parents decided to let me off with a warning. I was certainly speeding enough to deserve a ticket. But he did and I lucked out. I try to keep it down and most of the time I do. It's just those long stretches of freeway on the way home that tempt me the most. It's a six hour drive to get home after all! XD

Yeah, I officially apologize for all the Nightwish spam in this thread. Good group, though.
*pokes you* Tis good stuff! But since I've got it going on random... I'm now listening to Spanish Romance - Anonymous :p Though it's not this clip at You Tube. It's a copy that I shamelessly begged for from Crystia. It's a copy of Darren playing his own arrangement of the song. Very pretty. ^_^
