That's easy.... I'd put myself in Animal Crossing. Just think of the fun you'd have fishing, gardening, visiting friends, etc. I'd probably make sure to never carry a net at night during the summers though. ^^ Getting chased by a spider or a scorpion in the game is freaky enough as it is. o_O

And posted! ._. That vampire just refused to cooperate. But since she's going to die, I guess that's to be expected. ^^ Anyway, that makes it your turn again!

Without Wings Phaidra cringed as she watched Lucia barely manage to dodge her attack. So far she had nothing more than a few bruises since Lucia and the others had been keeping the vampire from taking advantage of her lack of fighting skills. But it was clear that the fight was starting to wear Lucia down and even she was starting to feel a little worn from the constant use of her magic. It was exasperating since all she?d managed to do was singe the vampire?s hair and burn her jacket, forcing the woman to abandon it. There had to be a way to bring the woman up short. At the moment she was taking advantage of their need to be careful to run them in circles and Lucia?s attacks seemed to be doing nothing beyond some bruising. You don?t have time for wards, think of something else. The barrier and the first spell the vampire had used were of a higher caliber but the lightening and releasing the spell hiding the vampire were cruder. They didn?t really match up. The barrier was clearly a trap but the other was probably a set spell, something given to her and only usable once. It would certainly account for the disparity between those spells and what she was using to fight. It would also mean that she didn't have any other spells. Seeing that she was running them in circles and taking very little damage, it was clear she didn't need more. There was something nagging at her memory every time the vampire managed to land a blow and hit Lucia with the lightening, but she couldn?t seem to pin it down. She was running to keep up, looking for an opening when it occurred to her that she could? Of course! Why didn?t I think of that sooner? Phaidra would only have one chance for it to have the most impact. If the vampire managed to see it and dodge it? She started tracing the symbols in the air, for it to work right, she needed an arcane circle. Sarvel gave her an odd look before casting another circle meant to strengthen what she was about to do. The blue eyes of the vampires glanced in her direction as she readied the spell and waited. That?s right, I?m about to attack. It won?t be what you?re expecting though. Phaidra thought as she sent several fireballs in her direction. The vampire retreated, dodging those and then Ruby?s fire as she attempted to catch her. Just a little more? NOW! A barrier circle appeared right behind the retreating woman and she slammed into it with a grunt of surprise and pain. She lost her grip on the left dirk and the impact sent it skittering across the floor before coming to a rest. The vampire stumbled slightly forward, looking to where the dirk had come to a rest. She took one step and then her head whipped back around as she brought the remaining one up to meet Lucia?s rush. She was just a tad too slow, allowing Lucia to catch her right wrist before shoving her back into the barrier circle. Her right hand came up and before the vampire could stop her, purifying flames hit her in the gut, knocking the breath out of her momentarily. She screamed in pain and frustration as she twisted out of Lucia?s grip and retreated, hunched over with her arm across her stomach, favoring it. She shot Phaidra a look of pure hatred before straightening back up in an attempt to pretend the burns across her stomach and chest didn?t bother her at all. The stiffness of her movements indicated otherwise and Phaidra merely stared back for a moment before looking away. It was too late for her to retrieve her dirk since Ruby had kicked it across the floor in Phaidra?s direction. The vampire was too busy avoiding Lucia. Phaidra bent over and picked up the short knife. She glanced at it before tucking it away into one of her pockets, taking care that it was fastened and wouldn?t shift around. It would be pretty stupid to accidentally get stabbed. And then, she began to ready the spell again, even if the vampire knew about it, forcing her dodge would make things easier and if she was lucky, she?d catch her like that again, giving Lucia another opening.
2.) Use your own money to buy your stuff. 3.) Wait until you're an adult (yeah okay I'm only half joking) because when you're an adult your parents really can't say anything about what you're doing. Unless of course it's damaging your life or career. Paying Bills and working > watching anime 4.) Try introducing or talking to your parents to the anime you're watching or the manga you're reading. It didn't work too good with my mom (My dad didn't care) but it works great with my other friends parents.
My parents don't like it period so number four didn't work at all. And since there are so many things out there that one can do as a hobby, I didn't give it much thought. I just found other things I enjoyed doing instead, it wasn't that hard. I didn't even bother to follow number three until last year when I heard the tune of caramelldasen coming from my roommates room. That lead to watching Lucky Star and here I am. It's perfect timing since I no longer have the parent issue and I have my own money that I can spend on stuff I really like. :catgirl:

It sounds like a good idea to me. I'd even be open to the idea of chibi-master and I redoing her challenge since we both had shorter tasks. That would put Lrb with Anomaly and no one would be left with a default. Whatever you finally decide on, I'm game for. :catgirl:

I'm not being very observant. XD I didn't really notice this at first. Since the issue of having the option to toggle it off has been addressed, I don't see anything wrong with it. Not that displaying it is bad, but that by having the option to choose, everyone can set it according to what they prefer.
I am excited about the new rank names. I just hope it does not involve any plus sign or any other sign attached to the rank name.
New title names sound like fun. I agree with jomz on the + symbol not being used. TheOtaku's system is based on other factors so it's a little different. But since this is clearly based on post count, it would make sense to have unique titles for each threshold.

Manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle [Warning: Spoilers]

Well, see, there's the thing. We haven't seen Fei Wong's name used in at least three chapters now, which is about two months, ish. *snobbish pose* I mean, heck, wasn't it two pages ago when I Colbert'd his name? I distinctly remembered there being a crapload of Os in that line. :p AANyway. Writing Otaku Prose Contest Round 1 (Sabrina VS. Monarck)
Sabrina replied to Mykul's topic in Creative Works
Thanks for the feedback Sir Allamorph. Until you said that I didn't realize it was on the confusing side. o_O I probably should have used a different story since that one was really hard to get in there with only 55 words available. I'll keep that in mind for the next time I write something that is really short. Anyway, I'm only sorry that Monarck didn't get their entry in. I hate to win by default. :( -
I really like the worlds function. Especially how you can have more than one. :catgirl: I have my personal one though I don't update it a lot. I have another one for poetry and writing prompts. I update it even less. ^^ I need to fix that. The other one I have which really brings to home how nifty the seperate worlds function really is, is the one where I keep all the updates for new categories added to theOtaku posted. Now that I've added just over 900 categories to theOtaku, it's really handy for helping me keep track of everything. From what was added to comments with people's requests for new stuff.

Writing Otaku Prose Contest Round 1 (Sabrina VS. Monarck)
Sabrina replied to Mykul's topic in Creative Works
I didn't think to ask this earlier... but I'm going to go by the rules as explained for 55 Fiction that can be found here: 55 Fiction If that's a problem let me know. I can be on for a group meeting for tomorrow evening and or Wednesday afternoon. I wouldn't want to stay up past 11pm on Tuesday but if we were able to start around 8-9pm that should be plenty of time. If that doesn't work, my classes are in the morning so an afternoon chat on Wednesday around 1-1:30pm would work. I guess I'll just check AIM around 8pm tomorrow night and go from there.

To be honest, I didn't think people would stress too much about when they needed to submit their entries. Perhaps it was a little idealistic to assume that everyone would write in as soon as possible? :animeswea Morph is on the right track. Have them in before saturday the 17th.
I wouldn't say that we stress over it, but knowing the time frame is helpful. I was actually about to ask you this but saw it in the thread. I don't see a problem and I should be able to get my entry in before the deadline. Good luck everyone! :catgirl:

Okay, my final post is in so that wraps things up for Aaryanna and I. It feels kind of odd to end it at a point like that, with them being abducted by aliens. o_O I left it on the vague side because I don't know what you have in mind James. Anyway, it's been lots of fun so thank you everyone. :catgirl:

He only knew that when he looked back, Katelyn was nowhere to be seen. He had been too busy helping Jeff and Natalia as they worked their way around the crashed ship. Katelyn had been holding back a bit and saying almost nothing but she had still been following along. I should have watched her more closely. He cursed inwardly and came to a halt. ?What?s the matter?? Natalia trailed off as she realized that Katelyn was missing. ?I?m going after her.? Viktor declared. ?You and Jeff need to get back inside the ship.? Jeff looked like he was going to object and then he nodded. ?You?d better hurry if you?re going to catch her.? ?Be careful Viktor.? Natalia said simply. Viktor nodded in response and then turned and took off, running as fast as he could; only slowing long enough to climb back down the rocks. He turned and followed the dual set of footprints leading away from the ship. He had to catch her before she found Arthur.
black
What is that little fool thinking? He found himself getting angry and tried to get a hold of it. It wasn?t her fault. She had lost everything to those terrorist attacks on the factories. He had heard her talking to Samantha about her plans to join NARSIA. He didn?t get the impression that she was after revenge, but rather to stop them so no one else would lose loved ones. She probably just wants to know the truth. He thought as he stumbled a bit and then continued running. The cold alien air was harsh and before long he began to feel a painful stitch forming in his right side. He slowed down to catch his breath and then halted at the sound of someone crying. His froze in panic, his heart beating wildly as he looked for the source. A cold feeling ran through him when he realized that there was only one set of foot prints and he started searching frantically for her. Oh gods no, please no. If anything had happened to her? He searched the ground until he found where it looked like something had happened. It almost looked like a struggle until he saw a deep imprint in front of an outcropping rock. Did she trip? He followed the deep scuff marks that went to the side and then turned into a long trail down the sloping ground. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw her sitting on the ground, covered in dirt, her face in her hands as she cried softly. ?Katelyn!? He called out to her as he rushed down the slope, careful to avoid tripping. Startled she looked up and then cried even harder. ?I?m sorry Viktor. I shouldn?t have run off.? She waited until he was kneeling in front of her. ?I wanted to know if Arthur really was a?? Viktor grasped her shoulders. ?It?s alright, I understand.? He waited for her to smile a little and then offered her his hand. ?Let?s go, okay?? She hesitated. ?I hurt my ankle when I fell. I can?t stand on it.? Viktor frowned slightly and took a look at it. ?It doesn?t look like you broke it. It?s probably just sprained. Does it feel broken?? She shook her head. ?I can carry you but it would be best if I wrap it up first.? ?Here,? Katelyn pulled her scarf from her uniform free and handed it over to him. He was so caught up in carefully wrapping her left ankle and putting her boot back on that he didn?t realize that the humming sound he was hearing was getting closer. He stood up before helping her semi stand so he could pick her up. Movement caught his gaze and he started in alarm when Viktor realized that some sort of land vehicles were almost at their location. He could see three of them. He had never seen anything like them before which meant it could only be? He felt Katelyn tense up as well as he picked her up quickly. He had to get her out of there before they arrived, back to the safety of the ship. He turned and then froze. ?Viktor!? She cried in alarm. There were two more of them at the top of the trail where she had tripped and people were exiting the vehicles. Too late he realized that the soft hum they were emmitting was what he had been hearing as he worked on Katelyn's ankle. There was sand being kicked up by the unknown machines, sending it swirling around everything, making it difficult for him to see if they were human or not. Even if Katelyn wasn?t hurt, they were surrounded. He clutched her protectively and waited as the strangers approached.

Dad angry over child support kills son
Sabrina replied to Rachmaninoff's topic in General Discussion
I don't believe in the death penalty, however, if that is what they decide on I will support it. I'm not sure if they are considering it or not though, I just feel that something as sick as this could warrant that kind of sentence. Anyway, I find the whole thing extremely sad. How could anyone murder their own child? That's the saddest part of all, that someone would actually kill their own son to avoid responsiblity. I'm really glad they caught him. Someone like that shouldn't be on the streets. -
That's really terrifying. Dispute or not, a lot of people could freeze to death. I know it's deliberate, but I wish they had waited until the weather wasn't so cold. Wishful thinking, I know. I l feel bad for all the people caught in the middle of this dispute.

I'm really religious and yet I giggled when I saw the slogans. XD I don't see anything wrong with it. I think, if anything, that religious people can look at them and try to lighten up a little. It's too easy to take everything seriously. Anyway, now I'm curious to see what people would think if buses here had that kind of slogan on them. I know I'd just giggle again. :catgirl:

So... what did you get for Christmas?
Sabrina replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I was given money for Christmas. I was glad to get it since I needed to have some repairs done to my car. I had a little left over which I used to get some much needed clothing. It seems that no matter how careful I am, the washer always manages to eat my socks. o_O They just... vanish. -

Is Israel permitted to break International law as defined by the Geneva Convention in their aim to break the back of Hamas?
I can't really answer this because the question itself is biased. It's asking the question about breaking International Law from the standpoint of: Israel is at fault. And yet the very article you linked to clearly states that it was the other side who was recklessly firing rockets at Israel and thus triggered the attack. Palestinian militants attacked Israel. And though I wish those people would find a peaceful solution, I don't expect them to just sit there and accept having rockets fired into their land either.

Dark Side Of The Moon Phaidra tensed, summoning her staff when the voice called out. She tried to remain calm, but everything was happening too fast. First the barrier trap that had been properly shielded to keep it from being detected. And then a vampire had shown up. They were also shielded, but Phaidra felt the slight snap of them dismissing it. It was clumsy done in comparison to the shield that had concealed the trap. I wonder? her brow furrowed slightly. How am I supposed to take care of the barrier with them here? She didn?t have to look down to know that Sarvel was equally as tense. She glanced briefly over to Lucia who was focusing on that communicator thing of hers. How can she be so calm? She caught herself grinding her teeth in frustration and stopped. Ignore that, think on how to break the barrier so we can get out of here. She was finding it hard to concentrate. The approaching vampire came to a halt about twenty feet from where they were standing. Her outfit was a bit odd in Phaidra?s opinion. It consisted of black worn out canvas shoes; a short tattered skirt of dark black jean material, held up by a leather belt with metal studs along part of it. Her shirt was nothing more than what looked like a black bra. She was wearing a jacket that was as tattered as the skirt, with the collar hanging down past her shoulders. Blue eyes stared at them from under her messy blonde bangs and hair that was chaotically cut. Short uneven strands hung around her face; the rest was pulled into a thin ponytail at the back that hung to her waist. She wore no makeup and only a plain set of silver earrings. A pair of gauntlets made of leather and denim material was on each wrist and she was casually toying with a pair of dirks. Phaidra didn?t know anything about fighting with short blades like that, but her movements seemed to indicate that the woman was familiar with the blades. Now what? She had never come across a vampire like this. Without someone along who had better hand to hand combat skills than she did. ?I was expecting someone a little more interesting.? The blonde vampire said in a cynical voice and then continued when neither of them said anything. ?Why do I always get the boring ones?? She half mumbled to herself as she flipped one of the dirks up into the air and then swiftly caught it on the way down. She narrowed her eyes and leaned forward a bit, cocking her head to the side. ?So," She dragged the word out. "Anything to say before I kill you all? Not that I give a damn.? She smirked. ?But do go ahead and get any useless taunting out of the way, I hate boring speeches during a fight.? Phaidra ignored the taunt and started running the phrases through her mind for the spells she knew. Sarvel was doing the same, focusing on the shields she was familiar with. She was getting ready to start and jumped slightly when Lucia spoke up. ?I dislike boring speeches period. They waste time.? Lucia said coldly as she tucked her communicator into her pocket. ?But since you started it by being dull and doing it in the first place, I must assume you desire it in spite of your protests to the contrary.? Lucia snorted. ?It?s simple really, whoever has the better skill will win and boasting like an adolescent child changes nothing.? She ignored the flash of irritation on the vampire?s face and instead tossed her hat aside before undoing her cloak and letting it fall to the ground as well. Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small tie and swiftly bound her long blue hair into a ponytail at the base of her neck. ?We can start whenever you?re ready, unless you wish to grace us with more boring speeches on how you?re going to kill us.? Lucia mocked her as she held both hands in front of her as if inviting the vampire to strike first. What is she doing? Phaidra hesitated, feeling a little unsure. Why hasn?t she summoned her scythe? She was at least better dressed for a fight. She was wearing long black pants with low heeled black boots that came half way up her calves before folding down a bit, the edges lined with red trim that matched her cloak. Lucia?s black shirt was a double breasted affair that went down a good foot past her waist; the buttons lined with red trim. It reminded Phaidra of the server shirts used for catering with the lack of a high collar and the wrap around her waist in red with the black square material hanging down in front, red trim lining it as well. A thin white line ran along it from her waist down to the top of the triangle shaped edge along the bottom. Black gloves that ran halfway up her arms before folding back down, red trim running along them as well completed her outfit. ?Fine.? The vampire said shortly, holding her right hand out in front of her. Phaidra felt something odd stirring as a dark ball of energy formed in the vampire?s hand. Before either of them could react it quickly spread, heading out in all directions from where their opponent was standing. Phaidra vaguely heard Lucia?s sharp little gasp as she stepped back and Ruby called out her name in panic. She ignored it and watched what the energy was doing instead. Everything it was touching was vanishing. No. That wasn?t right. Everything was being shifted out of phase with this dimension. If that were to hit them... The energy was less than three feet away when quick as thought; she erected barriers in front of her and Lucia. It slammed into them, and sparks flew as the energy fought to burn through the shields and then died. Phaidra breathed a tiny sigh of relief, if that had hit them, it could have destabilized their connection to their own world. Theoretically, losing that could result in them dying within a very short time. What kind of spell is... ?Phaidra!? Sarvel cried out, snapping her attention back to the fight and the now empty warehouse, though the stuff was still there, just slightly out of phase. I wonder if she can reverse what? Stop thinking about that! Now is not the time! The vampire was rushing her and she dropped the shields in favor of sending fire balls in her direction. But the woman was impossibly quick as she dodged them and then leaped into the air, soaring over the top of Sarvel?s hastily erected shield. Her foot was only a few feet away from Phaidra?s face when she twisted in midair to meet Lucia?s rush, her blades slashing sideways. Lucia slammed into her and the pair was sent sprawling into the concrete floor. The two started pulling apart as they came to their feet. The woman had a hold of Lucia?s left hand and moved to pull her towards her, aiming her blade at her stomach, but Lucia pulled her hand free of the glove and back flipped out of range. The vampire tossed the glove aside and grinned. ?I take it back, you just might be interesting after all.? Her grin broadened as she rushed Lucia, keeping her between her and Phaidra. ?Phaidra!? Ruby called out as she settled on her left shoulder. ?I know,? Phaidra said tersely. ?I can?t get a clear shot like this. You?ll have to help me by driving her away from Lucia.? ?Right!? Ruby took off, shimmering as she changed forms in midflight. Phaidra took a deep breath to steady herself and then launched herself into the fight, trusting in Sarvel to handle defense while she looked for an opening.
