It's ironic I noticed this thread now. I'm literally just about to go bake a cake. :P (Chocolate sponge with mint buttercream.) I'm going to be totally honest here. I adore cooking. My speciality is cakes, but I love cooking main dishes too. A particular favorite would be Soutzoukakia. The only trouble I have with it is... When I spend hours cooking, by the time it's all ready and served up, I'm not hungry anymore. x.x
What would you tell your 10 year old self?
"Take better care of your arms when you get that job of yours. Oh and by the way... In a few years time, you'll start having odd visions and develop odd talents such as empathy and the gift of divination. Enjoy."
What would you ask your 10 year older self?
"Did my arms ever get better and did I ever get into the fire service?" ------------ That's pretty much the extent of it for me. Lol. :P

Oh look. Another witch hunt. I'm going to be totally honest here and state that the whole incest issues that keep popping up in the media are really starting to annoy me. It happens more than people want to admit, yet the ones you DO hear about are turned into some sort of mass flame fest. I'm getting tired of hearing the general public ranting and raving about things that have sod all to do with them. They complain as soon as someone starts bashing their religion, for example. I thought civilisation may have learned a thing or two by now about letting peshootie happen. *CoughTortureofChristiansWitchBurningHitlerCough*

I guess my reply varies on whether or not the company has a system in place where they count wasted stock in the bins before disposal. If that was the case, I can slightly understand it. It may have only been one sandwich, but it could still cause stock issues. If not, then yes. The whole thing is silly. I believe he should have received a warning. (Verbal or written.) I know that most companies have a no-nonsense 'you steal, your fired' rule and generally apply it to make examples of the offender to ward off any potential thieves in the work force, but I do honestly believe that they'll lose more revenue and cause more problems for themselves in the long run by sacking a worker than by losing one sandwich. Unless, of course, they have 'workers to burn', so to speak. ;) And, of course, the man is potentially screwed when it comes to benefits. I, myself, have never been chastised for such an action. I've always tried to keep away from incriminating acts, because I'm not the sort to take risks when it comes to employment. It was hard enough getting the job I had to begin with.

Its just something I've been thinking of lately, actually. When it comes to commenting, what actually compells you to comment?

Do you only comment on spectacular work that actually moves you, or inspires you?
Do you comment if its of your favorite characters? (Sometimes regardless of skill or effort.)
Do you comment on things only when you feel the person deserves it?
Do you comment, because the person/artist is popular?
Or maybe just to up your post count? :P
But, more to the point... What discourages you from commenting?

Do you feel discouraged if the person posting writing is better than you?
Do you feel discouraged if you see work from a professional writer on the site in question, or if you feel the writing is 'too good'?
Or, do you find that you don't like the subject material?
Or perhaps you really just can't be bothered to type out a reply? :hihi:
Myself, I tend to comment only when I am moved by a piece. This could be anything, from fanfiction to factual texts etc. And I am not picky either when it comes to skill. I also comment if someone needs help, or encouragement. :D As regards to not commenting, well... For me I find that I can't comment on something if the person has not put any effort into it. If they are just banging out random bits of text for the sole purpose of being noticed, for example, I refuse to comment. I won't comment on fanfiction from an anime series that has become too popular for their own good. (IE: Naruto.) Now, yeah... Each to their own, I say, but I am really rather fed up of seeing it (Its everywhere I go X_x) and it doesn't show much... *clicks fingers* What are the words I'm looking for... 'Variety and originality'. Thats it. :) So, what about you guys? How do you see yourself as a comment giver?

I agree with you that it's the parents who buy the toys for the children, but it is often the kids who badger the parents into submission in the first place. A kid will see a doll that meets the stereotypical "standards" of todays society and will want it. Banning them is a bit far, but I can see why outrage exists in the first place. Half of the toys made for girls look like they jumped out of the red light district at 2AM. I'd say it's down to the designers and manufacturers. If people want to do something, I say make the toys more child-friendly and not so 'sexy'. Have limits on the size of the lips, chest area and so on. Give them safer clothes instead of all the short skirts and low cut tops. They might as well be wearing handkerchiefs half the time...

What did you want to be when you grew up?
Axel replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Well, I ended up with a few of the job choices I wanted back as a kid rolled into one. (See occupation section in my profile.) I marked them with a star. :) But, back when I was younger I really didn't know what I wanted to be. It actually wasn't until my mid to late teens that I had any job goals. This would be the list I came up with.

Contract Killer (Lol. I know.)
Mechanic
Air Hostess
Police Officer
Firefighter
Writer/Novelist*
Art teacher
Animator/Concept Artist/Designer*
Actress/Voice Actress*
Waitress (Wow, what a step down, eh? ;) )
Nurse
As you can see, I wasn't like most girls back when I was that age... *Rolls her eyes* -
I Forgot What You People Look Like (Image Heavy)
Axel replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in General Discussion
This was taken on Halloween last year. I went out dressed as Sister Esther from Trinity Blood and downed a few Jack 'n' Cokes. (Ugh, I look so young still in this pic. People think I'm in my teens - 20's when they see this. ^^; I had to tote my passport around all night that night... ) -
I just figured I'd post some of my favorite oekakis that I've done in the past in a single thread... Enjoy. =3 (Hope the images are 'size correct'.) ------------------------------- All of the following are original pics and aren't actually based on anything, so try not to faint. ;P -------------------------------- Neon Time: 58 Minutes Tools Used: ShiPainter Just a random pic I thought I scribble. Feel free to watch the anim'. Not really much thought behind this, it was just an experimental lighting image. But, still... Hope it is liked anyway. *wink & the gun* View the animation (IE: Watch me draw it) by clicking on the 'View Animation' link below the image here: http://www.planetzot.com/forums/oekaki/index.php?artist=Axel+Alloy Homage to Stiny Time: 36 Minutes Tools Used: ShiPainter I drew this today to test my pain threshold. Just a random drawing I did as homage to one of my lovely birdies. Stiny, one of our Cockatiels to be exact. ( Yes, I know it doesn't look quite like a Cockatiel, what with it having no ceres or anything, but I wanted to do something different. :3 ) Hound of Dreams Time: 49 min - Minus a while due to cooking and eating. Tools Used: ShiPainter Something random to cheer myself up. Mystical I did this oekaki in 24 minutes on Marriland Oekaki board. Only thing was, as soon as I submitted it, it got wiped... I'm just glad I'm smart enough to have saved it. ;P Vicious Majesty (Homage to Peter) Time: 41m 21s (Minus a while due to tablet issues and eating. Had to finish using a touchpad mouse.) Just because my first oekaki got wiped on the oekaki board I drew it on, I decided to do a similar one and thankfully, it didn't get wiped this time. This one also has another title. 'Homage to Peter'. Kinda like my 'Homage to Stiny' one I did a while ago, but this time dedicated to my other bird, Peter. Puteulanus Ignis Time: 32m 34s (Minus a little while.) No idea why, I just felt like doodling a fire bird. I always loved blue flames, so I decided to go with that. Ruber Ignis Time: 1h Another little something. Although, I'm rather annoyed that my tablet died an interesting death today. I hate having to use touchpads. ;_; ----------------------------------- The rest are fanart oekakis. Starscream ( Originally drawn on the 8th of July 2008. ) Time: 44 Minutes (Minus half an hour or so due to computer issues.) Just something I did randomly really. ^^; I love Starscream's eyes... *melts* The Kids Time: 160 Mins. OK. The timer is WAAAY off yet again for two reasons. * One - I was busy doing other things on other sites as breaks. * Two - I found one of my birds dead in his cage. :( So, this is dedicated to him. RIP Moth. :( ---------------- For those who are not familiar with the characters... Comet, Cobalt and Sirius. The three older Children of Starscream and Rachel. Cobalt is the only male child so far, as Comet & Sirius are both female. The baby, Astrum Star IV, has still not been figured out yet, as to whether its a boy or a girl. Cobalt is the eldest, followed by his sister Comet, then Sirius and finally Astrum Star IV. Local lingo. Local Dialect. Slang. Whatever you wish to call it, I'm sure you have some of it. 'Derbysharian', or, as it is called 'The Derbyshire Dialect', has been around for a very long time. It is native to Derbyshire and is likened to Rhyming slang in the fact that it is a variant of English. Last year, I actually started writing a Derbysharian - English Dictionary, but I didn't finish it. ^_^; I am a fellow Derbysharian myself and by writing this, I hoped to help people outside of Derbyshire understand what we are saying. Or, more to the point, what I'm saying. :P This is what I have so far: A Agate - Busy or on Fire Anklebiter - A Scrounger Anna/Onna - Are not, aren't Arkin - Listening Asker - A newt Awk about - To carry around Ax/Ex - Ask Ay up - Hi, Hello, a friendly greeting, as in "Ay up, me duck!" Aww. Thank you. To be honest, it doesn't matter if you can't get the hang of wording and grammar etc. As long as the concept is there, it doesn't really matter. (Unless its for professional purposes, of course.)

I can't say much about caffeine since it actually does nothing for me, I've never been high (Since I try to keep law and order and I don't have Glaucoma. xD ) and I really hate getting drunk. I hate it, but that doesn't mean its not happened. ;) One humorous account was when I was on holiday in Zakynthos around 8 years ago. I drank too much Ouzo too fast and, er... I spent most of that afternoon flopped on a lilo on the floor of my apartment talking about random oddities. For example, I remembered those shoes with fish in the heels and thought how cool it'd be inside a plastic lilo. Then I decided butterflies would be better. THEN, I decided I wanted an ant farm instead. Shorty after announcing my revelation, I fell asleep. xD

I wrote this back in June '06. It was one of those moments where your fingers move, but you have no idea what you are writing... (Spirit guided writing, I guess.) So, after I thought enough was enough, I sat back and read what I had written only to freak myself out. (I'm not sure if any of you are all aware of my strange ''visions'', so if you want BG info, read my DA journal - Beware, its old. So, I might have to re-write it to update it. ) Anyway... This is what I wrote: ---------------------------------------- Eternal Hymn "You reside within a distant land. Far away, your spirit rests. My heart knows of your existance, as you call to me without a word. It pains me to be so far from you. Your face not staring at me with an expression of love. May my mind become all knowing so that I may find you. Let my days be filled with thoughts of the happy songs we will sing. Yes, when we are together, we will sing joyfully. Even the earth itself will resonate with a melodius hum upon our meeting. Until that time comes, be patient as I am having to be. Only in our dreams are we allowed to see each other. Yet I am satisfied. I am happy. Hold on my love for that day. The day that echoes like mirrors on mirrors in my dreams. Hold on till I speak my words to you. Till they wake you from your slumber."

Tea, for me, is one of those things I go on and off with. My main drink being coffee (Not for any uplifting effects, since it doesn't do anything for me. But, for the taste), its usually left a while (Until I get sick of drinking coffee every single day) before I drink tea. I, of course, have my favorites. Yorkshire, PG, Tetley and Sainsburys Red label being the basic household drink here. Nice, normal teas. Earl Grey - For when I'm in the mood for something sweet and tastey. I have a habit of overloading this one with milk and 3 sugars for a boost. xD (Naughty me.) Lady Grey - For when I feel up for a more fruity taste. Usually on summer days. (If I get any. =/ ) Lapsang Souchong+ - Gorgeous and smokey. It used to be one that I drank all the time in place of regular tea. Its an aquired taste, but I find it soothing. Rose Pouchong* - If you imagine normal tea, but with a beautiful hint of rose, then you have this one. Its nice for relaxing in the afternoon. One of those teas you drink when you fancy something slightly different to the normal flavours of regular tea. Honeybush and Lavender*+ - Wonderful and relaxing. A lot of people I mention it to, who aren't avid drinkers, wonder why on earth anyone would drink lavender. Lol. But, to tell you the truth, I've always been a big fan of flower tastes. I adore rose and violet and I used to use Lavender sugar all the time, so I'm used to it. This is PERFECT for destressing. I have it sweetened without milk. Nettle and Sweet Fennel* - One of my other favorites. This one is soothing, cleansing and yet somehow invigorating. Its flavour is a smooth, yet also sharp. What a contradiction, eh? I love this tea both hot with no milk and some sugar and also cold. I recommend brewing some up, cooling it and putting it in a pitcher with slices of lemon and crushed ice. Blackberry and Nettle* - As you can see, I'm a big nettle fan. But, with the blackberry added, it gives that sharp edge a bit of an extra zing. This is another you could have in a pitcher for those hot summer days. (Perhaps throw in some cranberry juice too!) *Recommended for people who are not fond of the run of the mill teas. +Recommended for people who are not fond of the run of the mill teas, but who are also up for something new and unusual.

"Ay up, me ducks! Ah be thee? Its gerrin' a bit grey owwa Bill's motha's at the minute, so tek care y'dunna trip on t'kerb an' fall on t'dog shelf." [/Derbysharian] With that out of my system, I can carry on with my existence. Lol. I'm new to the forum, but I've been a member of TO since the 28th of October 2003. I use my portfolio to house my personal works, never my professional ones. (Copyright jargon and all that rot, dahlings. ;) )
