Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction
weedeater replied to Godot's topic in General Discussion
Americans need to be patronized about these things, from every possible position. We need to be reminded to be environmentally sound and cut back on waste as much as possible since we are an ARROGANT and PATRONIZING nation that embraces freedom as a soapbox to laud our greatness upon.
Well said. I am glad to see the man is willing to compromise. America has learned too well to play dirt slinging politics and "for us against us" type campaigning. It won't last much longer, I hope. -
Yeah, a man did not have a baby. A woman with man parts(to some degree) had a baby. That's not the same thing. Homosexuality is one thing. That's all fine and dandy. But transgenderism, while not anything I'd look down on an individual for, is something I simply do not agree with. Gender confusion is a mental state that should be dealt with as such. But at the same time, I'mn not saying it should be illegal. It's their body. I'm just saying I think other options should be explored more thoroughly on an individual basis. I'm one guy; what do I know anyway?

The greatest metal acts really can't be hewn down into such concise subgenres.

I disagree that even some deathcore is good. I don't even like Six Feet Under or Devourment, if you're talking about the original context of the term. I heard that rumor about WBCC too dude. Blah. Bleh.

Icky. False metal. False hardcore. Icky. I respect those few bands mentioned here that respect their roots. But bands like With Blood Comes Cleansing and Bring Me the Horizon...icky. Me? I've hit a recent phase with doom and stoner metal that I can't seem to shake. Hence my username--weedeater. You should check them out, they're awesome. Is With Blood Comes Cleansing really getting that big? That's strange to me. I've known them for years. Remove the Veil, anyone? What about Chasing Victory or I Am Terrified? A Plea For Purging? They're all from around my area and I've either known them all personally or at least worked with them. WBCC is personally very disapointing to me, because Jeremy Sims writes most of their music and he has much better musical taste/ability than he shows.

Morality--that is, individual morality that doesn't affect the lives of those around you--is a personal issue. I am a Christian, and a damn fundamentalist one at that. As it pertains to politics, I don't believe in the concept of legislating morality. It binds people to a behavioral pattern that is not their own. As it pertains to faith, it is between you and your god. As it pertains to me, my moral "code" is not a list of things I believe the Bible teaches or that my preacher told me. It is a group of evolving standards that I think best reflect God in myself. I'll cover some of the more interesting ones: I believe in basic and equal civil rights for all people. Yes, this means I support even gay rights. This is because I believe in the value of all people; even people I don't agree with. Near as I can figure, we're all created in God's likeness; thus we are all equally beautiful in his sight. Also we are all subject to the same sin nature, thus equally fallen from grace. Thus...we are all equal. I believe in the value of the poor. They deserve more than our charity. They deserve our attention. I do not believe Christians--such as I am--have any place in politics or the military. I believe in tolerating those who don't tolerate you. I don't believe in being "holier than thou". Nor do I pretend to be. I believe ignorance is mankind's greatest enemy. Finally I believe in forgiveness. Even for myself.

It's Independence Day... In America!

Hell yeah, boy. You preach that Red, White and Blue! Shyit, son. Hell yeah, I'm an American, boy. Yeah, I go to church every Sunday, and I listen to Creed, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bon by-God Jovi! You know what Bon Jovi means in French? Freedom. You know what Lynyrd Skynyrd means in Latin? Freedom. You know what America means in American? God damn freedom! Hell yeah, I shot off some firecrackers at the neighbor's house. I talked politics with my family (hell yeah, John McCain!). And I made fun of French people with their frenchy stuff. And I drank beer. Then I went went to Wal-Mart without a spit cup. So you know what I did? I spit on the floor! Why, you ask?! Because this is America, you damn Commi terrorist frenchy boy!
