Vicky, it's totally up to you what your character does. Just do something that you think would be interesting to the story. Come up with a neat idea and do it, or ask me if you're unsure about it.

The drunkard Gillenbo stood up in a drunken fashion and stared strangely at Zev and DeMeeko. They stared back, waiting for the man's reply of where he could lead them. After an awkward silence and no answer from Gillenbo, DeMeeko finally spoke up, "Sooo, are you gonna tell us where we can go? If not we'll find a place on our own; either way, I don't think it wise to stick around this dump much longer." Gillenbo rubbed his chin as if in thought and looked around to make sure no one was eavesdropping before he leaned in close to the two men and said, "Okay, listen up. I'm gonna lead you to the Secret Place, and once there me and my brethren shall explain where you should go from there." Zev and DeMeeko looked at each other in astonishment, and then Zev replied to the man in a hushed tone, "What the fuck. Who are you, old man? We have no time to be playing games with a group of drunken lowlifes." Gillenbo grinned. "Heh, telling you who I truly am would be unwise on my part, sir. And don't worry, there will be no games played. Simply follow me and you will be in good company." DeMeeko sighed, "Look, Gillenbo or whatever your name is, I don't know what you and your 'brethren' have got planned, but I can assure you, it would be unwise to try and rob me and my friend, or whatever it is you're plotting." Gillenbo's face was grim. He tossed his bread aside and put his hood up and turned to walk away. "Follow me if you know what's good for you. I have no time to wait around." And with that Gillenbo began to make his way to the door. DeMeeko stood up, "Come on Zev. I think this guy may be for real." Zev looked at DeMeeko as though he were a bit loopy before he replied. "You can't be serious! This man is---" DeMeeko cut Zev short as he grabbed his arm and pulled him to follow. Zev reluctantly kept pace with DeMeeko as they tailed the man out of the tavern and into the bright sunshine of the outside. Gillenbo was a good ways ahead of them, and not once did he glance back. Zev and DeMeeko upped the pace so that they were beside Gillenbo in a matter of seconds, though they did not say anything; they merely followed in his trail: down a few alleys, across a few busy streets, and finally outside of the village and into a little forest. DeMeeko glanced at Zev as they made their way over ferns and shrubbery, "Okay, maybe you were right Zev. Why the hell is he leading us into the forest?" Just as DeMeeko uttered the last word, Gillenbo came to a halt in front of them and turned, "Alright, gentlemen. This is where our treck ends. Follow me into the Secret Place." He then proceeded to perform odd movements with his hands above a small pool of water, which then opened up and made visible a ladder, which the three took the liberty of climbing down until they were once again on solid ground, surrounded by the dim lighting of torches and candles. They made their way cautiously down the damp tunnel until they came to a large room full of a few other elderly men sitting around on odd-looking chairs, and they were smoking, drinking, and even playing instruments that Zev and DeMeeko had never seen the likes of before. Once the three were in the room though, all of the old men looked at them, and the music had come to a halt. One of the men seated across the room, who wore a white cloak and a beard to match, spoke. "Gillenbo, what have we told you about bringing strangers to our home?" Gillenbo sighed, "These men are different Olwe. They are foreigners, and they were attracting quite a bit of attention up above. I figured they would be safe here, and that we could let them stay for a while." The man called Olwe looked down at his feet as he replied in a grave voice, "Strangers, do you know who we are?" Zev replied before DeMeeko could, "We do not. But we are certainly curious." Olwe drew in on his pipe and exhaled, a grin upon his countenance. "You are amongst the Protectors of Devon. We protect the scriptures and works of the Old World, before GodBot took over our land. If he knew about us we would surely be slain and all that we keep here would be burned without a thought. That is the reason we do not like strangers here; we don't know whether you are spies or not. Do you understand?" DeMeeko's eyebrows were raised as he said, "Yes, and I personally think that that's a very bold thing you're doing. It takes a lot of spirit to go against the grain." Olwe stood up, slowly. "Well, I suppose you should introduce yourselves now? And you can hang up your cloaks over here. Make yourselves at home, and then I will show you the precious things that we hold dear. You may find it quite interesting." Zev and DeMeeko looked at each other uneasily. To remove their cloaks would mean to reveal what they were carrying. They stood there and did nothing, thinking of what to do. Olwe looked at them curiously, "What's the matter?"
After an hour or so of walking through the deserted fields, the sun glaring down on them, Zev and DeMeeko finally arrived at what looked like a small village; people of different genders and races walked to and fro, some of them stopping at merchant?s stands to trade or buy items or food. Life for these people was apparently very simple, as was their technology. Zev took out a pocket telescope and scanned the area; not one electrical device did he spy. How these people could survive with such equipment he did not know. They seemed oblivious to the fact that electricity even existed, which was absurd. No one could be so naïve! Zev looked at DeMeeko, ?Have you noticed how primitive these peasants are?? DeMeeko stared ahead, obviously observing the villagers, ?I have, and it just doesn?t make sense. I don?t even know what to make of it. It?s like we?re in a different world, Zev.? He pulled out a GPS system and pressed a few buttons. ?We?re only about ten miles from Daphner Island though. ? Zev sat down in the grass as DeMeeko followed suit, ?Yeah, but there?s only one way to find out what?s wrong with these folks, and that?s to talk to them.? ?You don?t think we?ll scare them off or something?? Zev smirked at this, ?Well that is an option, but not what I had in mind. I was thinking we could disguise ourselves as one of them and, you know, walk amongst them for a little while; just to find out what?s really up.? DeMeeko looked up into the clear blue sky in thought, and then said, ?Hmm. Well where are we gonna get disguises?? ?Wait here,? said Zev as he stood up and walked cautiously towards the village. Soon he was lost from sight and DeMeeko laid down, his mind wandering. Birds and bugs alike filled the air with their calls, and the grass swayed steadily with the gentle breeze. Life outside of Daphner Run was incredibly refreshing, and for the first time since he could remember, DeMeeko felt truly alive. Fifteen minutes later, as DeMeeko was just drifting off to sleep, he was awoken by a cloak landing on his face. He sat up and held up the cloak, Zev standing over him. ?I?m guessing you stole these?? Zev, who was wearing a hooded white cloak of his own, nodded. DeMeeko wrapped the cloak around him and tied a rope around it for a belt, and then the two of them picked up their leather bags and walked towards the village, their guns hidden under cloak. As they entered the village, they kept getting strange stares from most of the villagers. Apparently this small village was pretty tight-knit, and so a couple of strangers coming out of nowhere may be cause for curiosity. Zev and DeMeeko kept their pace steady as they walked through the village searching for an inn of some sort; they needed a place to rest and nourish themselves, as well as relieve themselves. I've been on OtakuBoards altogether since 2003, but I've left then returned, and so on. I'm a graphic design student who loves to draw, paint, read, etc. I live in a small town, which sucks. The sky was dark violet, and the clouds were black. Rain hammered upon the earth as waves crashed upon the rocky shore of Mainland. Save the stormy weather, all was normal on the coast, just as usual. Anora knew peace, and it knew it well, but that was about to change in a major way. Just when the sea was at its roughest, the violent froth of waves carried forth something that the people of Anora would call the work of a devil; an ALW vehicle surged through the water towards Mainland, ignorant of the consequences of being spotted by naive eyes. The two men on board the vessel, fortunately, had escaped their island prison without being followed. After an hour of being violently propelled through raging waters, they made their rough landing on the shore among rocks, sand, and other things. The men, Zev and DeMeeko, quickly scrambled out of the wrecked vehicle, sure to gather all of their equipment before moving away from the water's edge. Their suits were soaked. Their bags were drenched. They didn't care though; they were just glad to be free from that god-awful facility. No longer would they have to be injected with foreign chemicals, no longer would they be forced to train beyond their limits, and no longer would they stay up at night wondering if that was the night they would be dragged into pit to endure horrid tests. No, they were rid of that life, and now was the time that they would lay low from everything, for they didn't know anything. Daphner Run was the only thing that really made sense to them, but one thing was sure: they knew how to survive near anything. They were built for this kind of predicament; they would thrive in this dilemma. The two men hadn't said a word to each other since they'd escaped, and they remained silent as they created a makeshift tent among the trees. Their equipment was, thankfully, still in fine condition, even though it had been through hell and back from the rain. DeMeeko took a small laser tool from his belt and somehow managed to build a fire while Zev finished tying off the roof of the tent. They would go without food tonight, and would sleep sitting against the rough trunks of palm trees. Would these men ever speak to each other? Perhaps words would come from their mouths with the rising of the suns. DeMeeko passed out with his laser tool still in hand while Zev fell asleep, unsurprisingly, with his hands resting on the butts of his pistols. They slept in peace, and the storm died off. Within a few hours, the sky would be pink with the coming of the dawn.

SIGN UPS ARE NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED. Thank you to all who signed up, I appreciate it. The following people are in the story (which will begin tomorrow): Dragon Warrior (Escaped Soldier) Ruroni922 (Special Ops Soldier 1) Vicky (Special Ops Soldier 2) Omega (God Bot) The Protoss (Anora Native) That's all we'll have. InuYasha Fandom, your post didn't really make sense with the backstory, since you signed up as a common person and wrote about his time in the "facility," and when I messaged you about it I got no reply, so unfortunately I can't put you on board with this. Thanks again everyone. Keep an eye out for the first post, and if you have any questions there is a backstage thread for this story.

On Daphner Island, on the shore, is an abandoned castle (which is the entrance to the underground Daphner Run. GodBot's kingdom/village can be on Daphner Island, and the castle doesn't have to be actually abandoned (that's just what people think), remember it's guarded by soldiers. GodBot can live wherever you choose, and yes he can go out into public if he chooses. I was thinking it'd be cool if he wore a mask when he spoke to the public so no one knows what he looks like. Expect this story to begin on July 27th.

I like my role in this ; p But yeah, I'm enjoying the story so far DW, very much so. It's an enjoyable read, and you keep me wanting more. :smirk:

The Anorans are similar to Earthlings in all physical ways, for in this story (no matter what your beliefs are), the Anorans and Earthlings were created by a god being. The Anorans behave very similarly to Earthlings. So yeah, basically same species in a different location. I'll put up a map of the planet soon so you can see what their world is like. Also, I don't mind competing for positions. I'm keeping the sign ups open until Sunday, and then I'll decide who's in and who's not. Good luck! EDIT: Here's the map of Anora (yes, it's very simple). Daphner Island is where Daphner Run is located, of course, and then the Mainland would be where the soldiers escape to. If you have any questions, ask away! I hope this helps a bit. Click Here For Map

I decided that it'd be for the best to have a Backstage thread for this story. In the next few days I will probably post up pictures and/or maps and some other reference that should help everyone to understand the world of Anora a bit better. Also, use this thread, of course, to ask questions about the story or to discuss any ideas you have that you would like feedback on.

I voted for Endrance because it appealed to me the most for the following reasons: I like the curved corners, the color choices, the text, the lighting, and the background. Everything flows together well, and the character render stands out perfectly from the background, but still blends in enough. Endrance gmv.

Sign-ups all range from decent to great, but one more common person would be great. I'll leave this open for a few more days and then close it. Remember people, spots can be competed for, so don't hesitate to post. There may be a Backstage thread on this within a few days also. Hopefully we'll be ready to start by Sunday.

Ah yes, I apologize. Hmm, then allow me to explain my criticism now: 1. it would be beneficial for you to study composition theories and maybe analyze other successful banners to see how they're composed. Also, how lines and shapes are put together in the image can have an effect. 2. www.dafont.com take a look at that website for more interesting/fitting fonts for your banners; the fonts should be a part of your work, not just be there to be there. 3. use brushes and filters and layer blending modes and gradient maps, and all kinds of other things, to add interesting effects to your images. Lighting is pretty important to make your banners look interesting and have depth as well. Good luck, hope that was a bit more helpful : p
-
All sign-ups so far look fairly promising, but I still definitely need at least one or two common people if possible, just to add to the story's perspective. Also, roles can be competed for, so if you want a role that's already been signed for, don't hesitate to try for it as well. Keep the sign ups coming!

It looks like no one's claimed to go next, so I'll take it upon myself to do the next piece. Hopefully I'll be able to get this done within 24 hours ; p EDIT: nevermind, I'm not claiming. someone else can go instead.

[WARNING: This rp may possibly contain very mature subject matter] Across the universe, far from planet Earth, there lies a tiny little planet called Anora. The people that inhabit this planet are oddly enough very similar to Earthlings. They share the same body type, brains, and even a belief in God and angels. One major difference though, is that the entire planet of Anora is ruled by one emperor whom the public never sees. This emperor is known by the people simply as God Bot. Anora?s public lives in a world that could be compared to the Middle Ages of Europe, with villages and peasants, and castles and knights, and to these people sea monsters and catapults are the most violent things they can really imagine. However, the emperor God Bot has a secret that would possibly put the world in turmoil if it were to get out. The secret is in the form of a massive test facility known as Daphner Run. Daphner Run is located on an isolated island that is constantly guarded by troops, and the public believes the island to be nothing more than an abandoned castle, surrounded by rumors of haunting and curses. Daphner Run is actually, though, an underground facility used to develop technological breakthroughs such as automatic rifles, lasers, vehicles, and most importantly, super soldiers in a project known as Project Godhead. This facility has been a secret for many years, though just recently something happened that?s about to change all of that forever and possibly place Anora in a state of extreme instability. Two people escaped from Daphner Run in the early morning and fled across the water in an AWL-V (air water land vehicle) and are now somewhere in Anora. The thing is, the two people were test subjects; super soldiers in the making, and they took with them weapons and equipment. Now peaceful, naïve Anora is about to get a wake-up call, and God Bot is doing everything he can to stop his secrets from getting out and to prevent total chaos. God Bot has ordered two of his best special ops super soldiers to find the escaped ones and take them down without too much notice. Remember, no one even believes that such technology could ever exist. Will the world of Anora fall into chaos and instability, or will these super soldiers be rid of before it?s too late? Indeed, that is what we shall find out. SIGN-UP CRITERIA Name: Gender: Brief Bio: Description/Image of character: Items/Weapons: For this rp I will probably need at least the following characters:

Escaped soldier 1 (played by me)
Escaped soldier 2
Special Ops soldier 1
Special Ops soldier 2
God Bot
a couple ordinary people
If you have any questions you can post them in here or PM me; I don't really see any need for a thread in the Backstage. Hopefully I've mentioned enough of the backstory to be sufficient, but if anything's unclear don't hesitate to ask. Thanks. MY CHARACTER SIGN UP Name: Zev Gender: Male Brief Bio: Zev is, simply put, a one-man army. He's not a very sociable person; in fact, he kind of despises friendly interaction. Zev's only real interest is killing and being the best. If someone shows that they are better at anything relevant, Zev will not stop until he is the best. He's somewhat cocky, but also very carefree. He spends any free time he has training and meditating his mind. Zev can often sense when a person is around or if something bad is going to happen before it does. He sacrifices people skills in order to selfishly perfect what is most important to him: his ability to survive. Zev, in his past life (though he can not recall it), was the best of the best archers; his aim was unmatched by anyone. Perhaps that is the reason God Bot had him chosen as one of the many captives that would become super soldier experiments. Zev, upon arrival at Daphner Run, was immediately brainwashed like every other captive there; he would now remember nothing from what he called his life, but he would now know only fighting for survival and how to be a killing machine. Zev would be trained in everything he needed to know in order to be a Godhead super soldier, and everything would go according to God Bot's master plan if only one of the generator's wouldn't have suddenly went haywire and exploded, causing certain cells to be broken open and two certain super soldiers to have the chance to escape. Items/Weapons: As Zev is most proficient in aiming, he prefers guns over any other type of weapon, though he does carry two knives (one on his belt, one in his boot). He carries two pistols in holsters, and he carries a bag that was assembled especially for super soldiers which contains various laser tools, plenty of ammunition, rations, and a grappling hook (he disposed of the cell phone as it was a tracking device and somewhat useless to him). His favorite weapon, however, is the cutting-edge, lightweight, laser blaster (the ZX-490) that is constantly either on his back or in his hands; he had to steal it from the special test lab upon making his escape from Daphner Run. I really love your sketches, and I think it's because there is so much life to them. The lines really suggest life in the figures I think, and they're so fluid and smooth. And I also really like the dress, the folds are grand.

Your work's really good jigglyness, I enjoy anime-style work when it looks good (which is rare it seems), but you pull it off well. The first watercolor painting you did was really good, especially since watercolor is such a difficult medium to work with, I'm impressed. All in all, nice work : ] Show us moooore : p

Why thank you jigglyness. : ] What you see in the portrait of the girl I think I also see, the slight disarrangement of her facial features that's oh so slight. Some of these pieces were for high school art class, a few were for my freshman drawing class in college, and then all of the digital pieces were just for fun really. Keep the comments coming hehe ;)
