2. I have to say, I love these little threads asking what particular "clique" in school you belong to, as invariably you get a really amusing backstory from the original poster. There's only a tiny degree of clique-isheness is my own high school, and it's nowhere near as divisive as it seems to be in schools in the States. We've got guys who I suppose fit into the different social categories, gamers, jocks, emos etc, but I don't think anyone takes any notice really. Most groups of friends tend not to differentiate, as they've all known one another since they were little kids.
 3.
Yeah, I've noticed that as well, and about the best thing I could come up with for it was that each Akatsuki member probably has their own goal's and agenda's. It just doesn't seem like Itachi, nor any of the other Akatsuki member's even have the same view's as Pein. See, I've never really got the impression that any of the Akatsuki member's were really working together, aside from the mission's that were assigned to them. Which really give's me the impression that Pein must really be one bad mofo if he's able to boss everybody around like he does, when all of the Akatsuki member's probably don't like him at all. And then there's that guy that bosses even Pein around. So, does that mean that these people are really that powerful? Gah, Kishimoto never fail's to confuse me.:animesigh
Well given that Kakuzu enjoyed a rather lucrative career as a bounty hunter, I would imagine there is a certain level of autonomy allowed within the group. If Itachi is pursuing his own agenda, I wonder what that could be, as I never bought the whole "he wants Sasuke to kill him" plotline.
 4. Apparently it's set in 2007, but due to monarchies maintaining a grip on everything, technology hasn't advanced much from that of the 1600s or so. Guess Eoghan is going to Nice instead of Vienna.
 5.
There's a silly little thing the FCC has that states that a beer commercial may not feature anyone actually drinking the product.
...well it's not as if it's stopped any of the company's from producing decent ads, though it does example why so many of them do not feature people actually drinking beer. Few more fun facts. - The tip of a 1/3 inch long hour-hand on a wristwatch travels at 0.00000275 mph - John Madden is an accomplished ballroom dancer. - The average chocolate bar has 8 insect legs in it. - In 21 states, Wal-Mart is the single largest employer. 6. This is a fascinating little RPG Josh and Sandy, and I am certainly interested in further participation when everything is ready. I have to say though what intrigues me the most is this new "landmark system", and I can't wait to see how it's going to affect the way the writing of the RPG. Well, that and it's Steampunk, and after Rise of Legends, I'm just a steampunk geek.
 7. Placing back a copy of Alexander Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo" back on the thick oaken shelves of the Berlin's main public library, Eoghan watched the silent activity going on around him in the capital city of the German Empire. He enjoyed reading and rereading the classic novel, which thanks to it's dubbed "treasoness" ideals had made it quite hard to acquire outside of the closely guarded revolutionary channels. It was only natural then that Eoghan would place it on display in a library, allowing others to gain access to the book and it's message of freedom. The secret police would be drawing closer to him, ever six months Eoghan would up and disappear in the middle of the night, leaving only a note on his bedside stand addressed to his great nemesis Richard Stark. He considered it to be something of a battle between the two men, allowing the secret police to think they were getting closer and closer to him, only to up and disappear in a flash. Vienna was his next stop, Eoghan enjoyed the idea of being able to look on the Danube, it reminded him of his homeland. Rearranging several other books into their alphabetical order, the Irish exile was woken from his daydream by a sharp cough. Turning he came face to face, or rather face to bald-patch with his employer Herr Ludwig Von-Wolfhausen, a kind man though fiercely loyal to the Empress, he and Eoghan had discussed much in the way of philosophy, though both had shied away from the subject of politics. ?Ja, Herr Von-Wolfhausen ?? He gave his best impression of surprise, which, given the look of concern on Ludwig?s face and the sinking feeling in his stomach, was not hard to generate. ?Eoghan, you must leave immediately.? His voice was barely above a whisper, through fraught with emotion. ?What?s wrong Ludwig ?? ?There are three men outside watching the library. From their accent, I would say they are British... and well, I thought of you...? Eoghan was in that moment very close to hugging the elder man, who had come to be like a father to him. Not many people would go out of their way to keep him safe. The look of surprise melted from his face into one of concentration, it seemed the secret police had managed to track down his work place, but they still could not barge in and try to take him, Germany?s own secret police had little time from foreign spies. Clasping Ludwig?s shoulder, Eoghan merely smiled and walked slowly towards the back exit to the building used by staff, he had made it half way down the alleyway when a voice hissed behind him. ?Well well, who do we have here ? Eoghan Kearney, Fenian bastard and terrorist.? Turning, Eoghan came face to face with Reginald Hyde-Parker, a secret service captain who still bore a dull scar down his cheek from a similar meeting in Edinburgh three years beforehand. The single shot pistol hidden up Eoghan?s sleeve pressed hard against his skin, there was plenty of activity, so chances were the shot wouldn?t be heard. When two further men stepped out of the shadows though, the situation became considerably more grim. ?So Reginald, seems that you?ve finally captured me... I imagine old Dick might give you a medal for being such a good chap. Tally-ho, God save the King and all that bollocks.? If there was one thing in the world that Eoghan could count on, it was that the Crown?s secret police, no matter how well trained, always reacted badly when you smeared the King. Instantly Hyde-Parker?s arm fly up and the spring-loaded knife lying within his coat shot out towards the Irish rebel, his intention of capturing turning to one of kill quite quickly. Deftly he dogged out of the dagger?s flight path with a heel twist, slamming his fist into the nearest agent?s face, the man crumpled as another knife impacted into the wall just beside Eoghan?s head. Blessing himself for the weapon?s lack of accuracy, he removed his own pistol and dropped the man in a shot to the chest. After a moment, only the two original men remained upright. Eoghan was breathing hard from adrenaline, while the secret police captain removed a pistol from within his coat and snarled. ?You?ll pay for that you Irish bastard !!? This was not a good situation, Eoghan had no weapons left on him, and the alleyway was practically bare, apart from the steam vents...which gave him an idea, but he needed to keep Hyde-Parker talking, otherwise the game was over. ?Can?t shoot me Reginald, Sir Stark will want me alive for questioning, try to get names and descriptions of the other rebels in my unit.? He seemed to consider this for a moment, but his aim remained firmly on Eoghan?s heart. The steam currents around them created a sort of ethereal quality to the conflict. Eoghan had practically given up hope, until a shout and an old hand wrapped around the base of a cane charged out of the steam, the next few moments played at an agonising slow pace, as the pistol turned to face Ludwig?s chest, and the ball exploded from the barrel, burying itself deep in the old man. Eoghan couldn?t hear himself screaming, he couldn?t hear anything other than the beat of his own heart. He dashed forward, knocking Parker off his feet and into the wall, grabbing the cane he simply lashed out and struck numerous blows, until the gilded handle was covered in blood. Turning, he fell to his knees next to the old man, tears pouring down his eyes. ?Herr Von-Wolfhausen ?? It was a plaintative whisper, begging a response. ?Eoghan ?? His eyes fluttered open for a moment, the blood in his mouth told Eoghan he didn?t have long. ?I?m here.? ?Fucking English.? Eoghan actually laughed, a pair of tear droplets falling to the ground. ?Yeah, fucking English Ludwig.? ?You need to go my boy...live on...free...? The old man?s eyes rolled back up into his head, biting his lip, Eoghan dashed away from the scene, towards the train station and Vienna...
 8. I think this might actually be the first time this kind of thread has popped up, which is something of an achievement for the Lounge. For me this is a perfectly straight-forward question... no pun intended, as I'm completely heterosexual. I think I'm passed the age where it could be considered the dreaded "phase", and honestly I've never even looked at another guy with any kind of interest, though I suppose that's because as a teenager I was too busy looking at girls. :animeswea God bless co-ed schools.
 9.
Call me when the Brothers Whoop*** start going at it, please.
Sure, though I still have the feeling Itachi is going to give his little brother another beating and reiterate the same "you lack hated" speech. Coincidently, has anyone else noticed Itachi telling Sasuke to "kill his best friend" goes completely against Akatsuki's goal of getting all nine bijuu ?
 10.
Actually, to tell you the truth, I was more interested to see some more of Jiraiya in this chapter. And he did come through for me with some cool new jutsu's, including his Ultimate Rasengan. That thing looked so bad ***...too bad that stupid clone had to go and absorb it....>.>;
Yeah, I'm really glad Jiraiya's techniques have been fleshed out so far, compared to the other Sannin we never really knew what he could do which was a shame as the J-Man was easily my favourite Sannin. I actually think if it wasn't for Pein pulling out some lameass jutsu or technique to cancel Jiraiya's attacks, he'd actually probably win this fight. As it stands, I'm hoping J-Man makes a strategic withdrawl when he becomes obvious he can't win, but I get the feelings he's going to go like his master, using Minato's sealing technique to try and seal away Pein for good. I'm wondering if Kishi's week break was in preparation for the upcoming Uchiha showdown...
 11.
And that's not a bad idea, Gavin. But I think Dagger would win that match; I'm too nice to girls and my signature move is useless against them anyway. :(
Indeed, Shin's nads being your greatest/most regular victim.
 12.
People may have some suggestions about how we can maybe change it to suit OB or something.
Well instead of using fictional characters, maybe the OB one could involve members, i.e. Dagger vs Desbreko or something along those lines.

 14.
I disagree, I don't think morals are purely human. I think any creature that has evolved rational and logical thought will also have to develop morals alongside. I wouldn't expect them to develop exactly the same as us, though, i would expect them to have a few of the basic principles. Mainly I'm talking about the philosophy of ethics. Now, I'm not a philosopher, and I don't have any grand understanding of ethics philosophy, but to my knowledge it's basically stating firstly that as a rational being we (and they) value our own lives. Then next we see that by taking another's life we are endangering our own. This is true because if everybody's taking other people's lives then nobody's is safe. So, as a society, we do not harm others for at least the reason that we value our own lives. I highly doubt any advanced civilization could get around this. Of course, i could be wrong, but these are my thoughts.
I understand where you?re coming from perfectly, I?m just saying that I think applying human concepts like morality to other possible species is a bit unrealistic. For all we know they could be evolved from an insectoid species that has no concept or morality but rather pure logic, because morality and logic don?t always go hand in hand for example our using society?s resources to take care of our less fortunate is morally right, but not in any way logical. Of course maybe you're right and we're the ones who look have no real idea of ethics on a grander scale.
 15. Gabriel tore at the vines holding him to the floor, as he holstered his gun. He hadn't intended to actually hit Adam with his shot, but unfortunately Shaylin had moved into the intended flight path of the bullet and Gabe had been forced to improvise. Two of the floor agents were already around him cutting at the foliage, evidently Matthews the clever bastard had called first to inform them of the chase, otherwise chances are they'd have been shooting at him. ?Agent Fullbrook sir, Director Matthews has requested to speak to you immediately.? Standing up slowly, Gabriel brushed off the remainder of the restricting plant, and walked slowly over to Shaylin, he was being held by another pair of Genesis Corp agents. He motioned his hand for the two to let her go, thankfully she stood up and said nothing, he couldn?t let her in on what he and Adam were doing, but it would be better if he could make her trust him. ?I?m sorry you had to see that Shaylin, but we?ve just learned Adam is a traitor working with the people who attacked you. That?s why I was chasing him.? Her face blanched, and her shoulders sagged as she looked down towards the floor. ?That can?t be...? Good, she was at least willing to hear him out. ?I know this is hard for you to hear, but you have to trust me.? She looked back up at him, she didn?t say anything, but her eyes seemed to ask why she should trust Gabriel. Even if she wasn?t, it would look good for Matthews, who was undoubtedly watching all of this, for Gabriel to try and convince someone his partner?s betrayal hit him hardest of all. ?Adam was my partner in the field for a long time... so believe me when I say I expected this least out of anyone.? ?But do you have any proof ?? Shaylin blurted it out, but it was exactly what he needed for more creditability. ?We tapped his phone contacting Brannigan, another traitor as he attacked the other victims... and what was done to them was something only Adam could do.? Her mouth opened but no words came, it was enough for him to end the conversation and report back to Matthews. He looked to the two agents who?d been holding her. ?She was only trying to help under misguided belief, there?s no crime in that. Assign her a room here in the building, make sure she gets whatever she needs. And keep a guard outside her door, I want to make sure she?s safe.? He walked away with a quick nod from both agents and Shaylin, heading back towards the elevator, after a few minutes he was back in Matthew?s office, staring at director of Genesis Corporation. ?You?ve done well Gabriel. After your previous partner, I?d have expected another betrayal might have been a bit much to deal with.? His friendly smile was entirely false. ?That was a long time ago... Edward.? The director clasped his hands together and rested his chin on his intertwined fingers. ?Indeed it was, about twenty years and you don?t look a day older.? Matthew?s smile became even wider. ?You know, I don?t even know how old you are.? The question went completely unmasked, Edward Matthews was a calculating creature, and always had been. ?Not for a lack of investigation I imagine. But with respect, we have great concerns than the number of candles on my next cake.? Matthew?s smile faded as he realised he wasn?t going to get an answer. ?Yes of course you?re right, we need to track down Adam immediately. I?ve already assigned ...a special team for it. I want you instead to oversee the processing of all our new guests, seeing as you did so well with Adam?s and your own target.? Damn it, keeping Gabriel in the building meant that he couldn?t warn Adam about the team Matthews had sent after him, undoubtedly meant to eliminate him rather than bring him in. Gabriel was left with the only option of walking out of the office, going back to his room, and taking the long hot shower he?d wanted more and more for the last hour.
 16.
It always seems that aliens get this bad rap of being these evil super advanced guys that are just out to get rid of us. This seems silly to me. I personally think if a race has evolved to the point of space travel then they probably have evolved in all other places as well, including morally.
While it is a little Hollywood to think that every advanced sentient species outside our planet are going to do an Independence Day on us, I don't think that advancing technology will have any effect on a species morally. Hell morals are an entirely human contrived thing, so applying them to anything else is a complete waste of time. I think in the future we're going to have a sort of Star Wars situation, where sure we can travel between stars, but we're still in pretty much the same place morally.
 17. Well it's been about three weeks since the last post in this thread, and I've just gotten through Chapter 377. While I'm glad we finally got to see some of what Jiraiya's Hermit Mode can do, I think the whole thing about Pein's "clones" or whatever the hell they are being able to each see what all the others see is a bit cheap. Well that and the fat one being able to absorb pretty much any attack is just lame, though it does give us a bit of an idea of how he managed to be Hanzo. Maybe I'm alone here, but I assumed that Pein was going to be the ultimate ninja in one person like the Six-Path's Sage, rather than a one-mind, six bodies team. He kind of loses even more mystique for me in that he needs six bodies and the ultimate dojutsu to do what Sarutobi probably could have done in his prime by himself, without any dojutsu. But then I suppose that does come with be the real "God of Ninja".
 18. And here I expected to be the only Irish person in it. Name: Eoghan [Owen] Kearney [Car-knee] Age: 29 Country of Origin: Ireland Personality: Quiet and contemplative, Eoghan is the sort of intellectual revolutionary who sits writing manifestos about the great social and political upheaval Ireland will go through after it finally gains independence from the British Crown. But unlike a great number of his peers, who lack the courage to actually go and fight for this upheaval, Eoghan has no compunction about putting his life in danger to achieve it. Appearance: As here. Stands just under six feet tall with an athletic build. Dark green eyes, chocolate brown hair, a killer smile and an Irish accent make him an instant hit with women. Usually seen to wear a pair of glasses over his eyes to avoid recognition, though the lenses have no prescription to them. Family History: Like most people, Eoghan can't claim he's descended from Irish nobility, and honestly, he wouldn't want to even if he could. He believes that for him to have come from just an ordinary family gives him a legitimacy to talk about a free Ireland where everyone has the same rights, rather than those lucky enough to be born with the silver spoon lodged firmly up their ass. Occupation: Currently a librarian. Social Standing: Given that he has to move around about every six months to avoid giving Crown forces a decent lead on him, Eoghan normally stays in apartments paid for by either his job, or by money filtered to him through the Irish Republican network, which finances exiles abroad. Have you ever had Revolutionary Thoughts? Currently Eoghan is on the run from the British secret police for the crimes of "inciting sedition and treason" in his homeland.
 19. Well I'm not sure if the anti-discrimination laws in Ireland cover transgendered people, but we?ve had similar legislation for years here, to the point where nobody really gives it second thought. That said, there is a kind of common sense element that people shouldn?t really apply for jobs where they know issues might arise, such as gay people applying for jobs with religious institutions.
 20. I'm going to have to agree with D'Ann's quote. Because if you think about it, would we really want to get to know a species that created Gerry Springer ?
 21. Care of Strangefacts.com - Forest fires move faster uphill than downhill! - In Tokyo, a bicycle is faster than a car for most trips of less than 50 minutes! - There is one slot machine in Las Vegas for every eight inhabitants!
 22.
Perhaps we should ask the administrators to automatically put Deus ex Machina on new members their ignore lists. And they can't change it until they're past 50 posts or so. It might just be enough to let new members stay a bit longer.
I can just imagine the fun that debate would generate in the Staff forum. :animesmil
 23.
Well I wouldn't say offended, I just find it odd. :p And yes I know you weren't referring to me. It is a nice concept, but some women... honestly they deserve far more than a simple slap.
Yeah, I know what you're saying. I know a few women who would benefit immensely from a good slap, but it's just not in my nature to do it. Hell it's not even in my nature to get angry full-stop, let alone violent with people.
 24. I with the other who're sitting on the fence for this "war". I've no over-powering desire to upgrade to high definition for the moment, so it's as easy and cheap for me to just wait and watch at this point.
 25.
There's this notion going around that the guy probably deserved it. Not nessecarily true, and apparently domestic abuse by the female population is on the rise, but I know for a fact that most of the girls in karate at my current rank I don't stand a chance against. I prefer not to anger others in general, but especially not women. Call me old-fashioned, or call me chicken.
Meh, I never understood why some women take offense to the idea that a man won't hit them out of principle, it just isn't done as far as I'm concerned. That said, an old friend of mine is a black belt in karate, and you could not pay me enough to pick a fight with her.
Odd as it sounds, Jihad may actually have a point. People have weird ways of conveying emotion. I had one girl last year who kept following me around and patronizing me for my gaming tendencies.
