That, or there is a mini series, where the countries are at war again, or something threatens Konohagakure. All of the ninjas give it their all, but alot of them dies off. Naruto pulls off a Leonidas (Spartan King of 300) where he does something awesome that removes said threat, but dies. And then Sasuke cries like a little baby. :D
Nahh, Sasuke is the Ephialtes who'd end up betraying Konoha for his own benefit. Just out of curiousity, who do you guys see Sakura ending up with ?
Shocking. No talky talk about the "Re-ningan"(sp?)
Well, I would have only I had the latest post. Besides, I don't think anything hugely significant went on in the last chapter, other than Pein's powers are being really expanded for his fight with Jiraiya. I mean seriously, does anyone else smell a bit of a Sasuke off this guy as he now possesses a power which could "save or destroy the world" ? I am interested to learn about this Sage of the Six Paths though, as obviously the six paths refer to each of the six chakra types.
However, I am starting to think that that Danzou guy is Tobi.
Someone has definitely been reading the theories on Naruto Manga Returns. ;)

Name: Gabriel Fullbrook Age: Unrevealed, appearance indicates mid to late 20s. Gender: Male Physical Description: Gabriel. Stands a hair breadth under six feet tall with a lean build, Gabriel has dark brown and surprising deep blue eyes. Dress sense varies depending on the nature of his assignment, for most cases of recruitment, to which he has a predilection, he generally wears a combination of a shirt, pants, black shoes and a long tan coloured trench coat. He also keeps a packet of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, though he has never been seen to smoke, and a hip flask of whiskey. Personality: Quiet but not aloof, Gabriel spends the majority of his time out in the field recruiting new members for Genesis Corporation, returning to base only when necessary, such as for meetings or paper-work. He is generally good humoured and gets on fairly well with the majority of his co-workers. Unlike many Genesis operatives, Gabriel has a tendency to keep his work and private lives strictly separated, though he admits that his work life generally does take precedence over his free time. Occupation: Genesis Operative Power: Extreme Self Regeneration. Possibly immortal, Gabriel is capable of quickly recovering from wounds which would certainly kill another person. Already documented in his time with the Genesis Corporation, he has survived three independent cases of close-range gunshot wounds, a case of being impaled through the chest with a hunting knife, and a case of being thrown from a fourteen story building and impacting into the sidewalk below. The latter resulting in dozens of broken bones, six crushed vertebrae and massive internal bleeding. Within twelve hours, Gabriel showed no signs of his injuries. Whether based in fact or fiction, the operative has a genuine fear of having his head separated from his body believing that this would be the only way to truly kill him. Gabriel has also shown no capacity for being able to heal others with his regenerative powers. A possible side-effect of his healing abilities have left Gabriel capable of resisting psychic invasion of his mind, though the greater the intended invasion, the greater the mental exertion required for him to repel it.
Gavin, how far you can take a power very much depends on the power itself. For example, I don't want characters who are (for example) pyrokinetic and they can make enough fire to destroy a city block, but if you are looking at the healing side of things, then the sky's the limit really. It's totally up to you whether your character can only heal some wounds or they can regrow entire limbs. I trust your judgement, Gavin ;)
Alright, I'll see what I can whip up for this, but he'll only be able to heal himself, as opposed to some kind of messianic character, although we'll see where the future takes it.
$300 >.>, I guess we'll do without the extras. That and i'll throw in some bits of string. *ties up Crystia and pulls her behind him*
My response. And sorry Aaryanna, I sold myself to D'Ann/Raiha a few years back, so she's the current holder of the Irishman. I can however offer a perfectly good Blue Jihad. Just think of him as an organic version of KOTOR's HK-47, witty, intelligent and funny, who would like nothing better than to disembowel the people he dislikes. Starting bids at 2,500 Republic credits, because anything else would be mad.

I'm thinking of signing up for this Phil, but I've got a quick question, how far exactly can we take a power ? I'm interesting in the healing one, and I was just wondering exactly how powerful it could be. Blame it on watching Highlander: Search for Vengeance for the ninth time.

Sorry about not posting lately, I just haven't have the time in between IRL stuff. I agree with Revelation though, we need to redo the teams, or maybe we should just have one team altogether.

It's just over six years since I joined, just a few weeks after V3 was launched, so I've got plenty of fond memories of this place and it's members. While I think James has a point in saying that if you don't get to know the newer members, you'll miss out on the fun of OB, I think that it's only natural for people to look back on the fun times we had with people who aren't around any more. Just speaking from my own perspective I can say the best time I've ever had on this site was writing Black Horizon with Corey, Annie and the others who were involved in that project. Shame is I'm probably the last person of that group who's still online on any kind of a regular basis. But that said, I've had great times with Zeke and others as well, so it's all relative. One of the bigs things I notice though, in terms of difference between the Arena now and then, is that a lot of oldies aren't involved with new projects with newer members. It's almost like there's a kind of clique-ishness about it. It's sad really, as in the "good old days" a lot of new members, myself included, learned the ropes of role-playing from older members.
I'm having a baby!
I'm not so sure about that, really. I mean, I could understand why there would be some form of rule against it, but I'm sure that the Hidden Villages also have the customs where they send upper-level ninja to other allied villages to harbor good will and other things. It's a common practice in war states, I've noticed.
Maybe, might tie into the Chuunin Exams. Still though it just ties in with what Jiraiya said about doing it because "it's the least I can do to make up for this". Seems to me their mission mightn't exactly have been friendly. Speaking of the Chuunin Exams, I wonder when Naruto is going to take them, it probably won't be the traditional exam, but I imagine he might be tested in some way.
Hey, guys, try to keep talk about the anime to the Anime Lounge thread, 'kay? There's a reason it's there. ^_~
Heh, sorry. I'd have posted in the anime thread, only I have the last post there anyway. :animesmil To get back to the manga, I'm actually wondering now why Jiraiya trained the three Rain kids, I mean he looks about as old as he did when he trained Minato and co and it's probably some major violation of Konoha's laws to train ninjas from outside your country. I suppose we'll get more answers this week.
Granted, I don't think anyone I knew back then is still around, save for a handful of posters.
Yeah, there are still a few of us around from way back when. I joined OB the first time back in September 2001, a few weeks after the site had upgraded to V3, so I've been around about six years at this point. A lot's changed between now and then, but a lot hasn't changed at all at the same time. Funny thing is that a lot of people from the really old days seem to have come back for a look around over the last while, we saw Flash for the first time in ages over the summer. This place is like a drug, you just can't stay away forever.
Andy is right about Origami. There was a guy who started an origami store in eastern LA, but the buisness folded.
Really lame joke Rev...:animesigh
I wonder where I stand on the series? I just got done watching the episdoe where Naruto and Sasuke were fighting the guy with the thunder Spirit's sword. The Land of Tea arc, the part with the race. I hope CN doesn't air the fillers.
You're already a good bit into the fillers Rev, everything after Ep 136 up until the Shippuuden or "Hurricane Chronicles" is filler. If you have a fast internet connection I'd personally recommend watching the stuff online. Don't bother watching the rest of the fillers, nothing good happens. And seeing as I'm talking about the Shippuuden, the way they've handled the post-Sasori fight just sucks. Naruto apparently can't control his two-tailed form and looks like a seriously ******-up version of the Joker.
I don't know, really. I suppose what you're both saying makes the most sense, but I guess I was just thrown of by what Nagato looked like. I didn't think about the body shifting at all. Of course, I did read the chapter at about 3:00 a.m., so that might have contributed to my seeming stupidity, lol.
Heh, don't worry about it Kei, I'll even admit that when you said he could be Tobi, I had a look and thought the same thing for a moment.
I'm intrigued to see whether the pattern in his eyes is another bloodline limit, like the Sharingan or Byakugan.
I don't know why, but I reckon it might be something similar to the dojutsu of Gennosuke from Basilisk. I hope it's something distinct anyway, and not too similar to either of Konoha's eye techniques.
Once it gets back to the actual fight, I'm interested to see whether Konan has any way of dealing with fire jutsu. If all her techniques are paper-based, I'd think a well-placed Goukyaku no Jutsu would take her out in one shot, but she must have something else up her sleeve if Kishimoto's pairing her up as an equal to Jiraiya.
I doubt that Konan is Jiraiya's equal, but I think lingering emotion from the latter might mean he won't go for her with the same killing intent he would another enemy. That might give her a few more openings than she would otherwise have.
However, my main beef now is with Nagato. It's obvious that he's Tobi, but I'm trying to work out how he could possibly be connected to Madara Uchiha. The only thing I can possibly think of is a possible branch off from the Uchiha family that went off to the Rain Country. However, it could also be that Nagato developed a split personality, one of which thinking that he actually is Madara Uchiha.
I don't know where you got that out of Kei, the last page of the manga pretty clearly hints that Nagato is Pein. I've got a fairly weird theory about this that involves both Nagato and Yahiko being Pein in one body, but the next chapter of the manga is apparently going to reveal exactly what happened, so I'm going to just wait to see. It's also good to see that Jiraiya was the most kind-hearted of the three Sannin, because this chapter pretty much proves that Tsunade has been a ***** her entire life. I mean seriously, you don't just turn away a group of children who chances are you made orphans after giving them a few crackers.
Though, one thing I'm wondering about... Why did Jiraiya think the Rain kids were dead? And why did he have a "WTF?!" moment when he saw Nagato's eyes? Hm...
Well as for the first question, the guy Nagato killed, at least I assume it was Nagato who killed him, was a Stone chunin. Based on Jiraiya's reaction, I also assume he hadn't been training them that long at that point, thus he didn't expect them to be able to handle a chunin. As for the second questions, yeah I really want to know what freaked the shite out of Jiraiya when he saw those eyes. I'm also curious as to what Jiraiya meant on page 8, when he said "It's the least I can do to make up for this".
So, in the spirit that this thread is intended, I propose that the next item to consider would be the custom title: The Irishman from Gavin's profile. ;) I mean what woman doesn't want an Irishman? Or what guy doesn't what the chance to be one so he can get the ladies? And since Gavin suggested that starting from a penny would be a good way to go since the other price for the E seemed so expensive to Gavin, the starting bid for his custom Title is $0.01 Though if you wish it back, it will cost you more than that Gavin. lol :p
:animeangr This means war. On the same token, I'm offering up Crystia's indigo font colour, that's right, now you too can post in her famed shade of purple in the Otaku Lounge. Want to pretend you're the infamous leader of the terrorist group known as Desbreko's Fangirls ? Or perhaps you want to use the font to frighten Rat Boy back into place, if so start bidding now, this handy-dandy font comes to you for only 1c, that's right, just 1c. [Pays the $1 Buy it Now price on my custom user title.]
Pfft! I'm not interested in outbidding others to get something I really want. If I see something that catches my interest... I just get it.
I'm the same, the only time I'll ever get into bidding is if I see something I can't get anywhere else and there's only bidding available on it. Last thing I got that way as a old VHS of The Last Starfighter, because it kicked such ***.
In other words, we often get too caught up in our we have free speech so we can be as rude as we want attitude. It doesn't make him look any dumber, it just makes you look like an ***.

And here I thought this was a topic about out eBay buying habits. :animesigh At the risk of a castigation from Beth, I just don't think her "E" is worth 39.99, maybe start at 1 cent and work your way up with bids. It'd be more fun that way.
-
I'm with Beth and Rach, arguing over which fictional race of immortals is better seems a shade too close to pointless for me. In reality you're always going to deal with different authors giving different interpretations of both races, which is going to be steeped in bias. So really there's no way you can ever come up with a definitively correct answer.

Heya Redemption, good to see you're back. Things are pretty much like they were before, activity has dropped off a bit since the summer is over, but there's always a few things going on. Generally the only thing I look for in an RPG is the potential for fun, after that I'm pretty much open, though I do admit a penchant to certain genres and series. Also, no, it doesn't bother me who posted it.
