1.
...But if does turn out that this is the third case of a student killing his master, then methinks Kishimoto goes a bit overboard trying to drive a point home.
Well that's why I'm hoping Jiraiya may get a reprieve from his implied death sentence, because it would just be a tad repetitive to have him killed by his former students, when the same happened to his master and possibly his own most favoured student. Does anyone else think that Kishimoto is just waiting to get Jiraiya out of the picture to have Naruto reveal more of the techniques he learned/developed in his two and a half year training ? I mean we've seen a lot of changes from the other two members of Team 7, but the title character himself is still using most of his older moves.
2. Has it really been six weeks since my last post ? ||||| Gavin watched with rapt interest as the conversation between Gadget, Crystia and Grape Ape continued. He had not expected the Otakubot to upload it's synthetic consciousness into the hospitals databanks, though on reflection it was certainly a possibility he should have taken into account. He chuckled softly, despite all his best efforts, not only had he failed to kill the CTU agent, but now Josh knew exactly where to find him. A haunting instrumental music gently played in the background of the spacious but sparsely decorated room, it seemed apt for the mood, the end was drawing near. Shifting his attention away from the monitor feed he gazed silently out onto the region known colloquially as The Archives. It was a mass of empty buildings, an entire city which had simply ceased to be inhabited when Otakuboards had entered it's next incarnation. In the end, Gavin supposed his cardinal sin was that he could not let go of the past the way so many other did. More often than not he had looked backwards instead of forwards, fondly recalling memories of better times and old friends. Now, after so many years, and despite all his power, he felt almost completely alone. "That's fantastic! Grape Ape! Go and get Nerdsy, once we get Gadget uploaded into his PDA, we move out!" Shaking his head, the Irishman entered a series of commands into the keyboard in front of him. He respected Crystia, but she had not been on OtakuBoards nearly long enough to be the one to fact him in the Archives, that honour was reserved for Josh alone. If Gavin killed Josh, he would have removed the last obstacle from his past that mattered, and be free to destroy OB completely. If Josh killed him, then he would at least die by the hand of someone he had considered his friend and mentor. Nearly instantly, the category moderator's communicator activated and the Otakubot he had replaced James with ordered her to terminate the staff's affiliation with CTU. He expected her to comply like a good little moderator, leaving Grape Ape to lead the assault on Gavin's stronghold himself. Instead he was forced to look on as Gadget once again thwarted him, revealing the artificial nature of the Site Director to Crystia. As the latter’s expression transformed from disbelief to anger, he could only accept that fate was not going to allow him such a perfect finale. After what had seemed line an eternity of performance, the melody finally ended with a delicate flute solo. Switching the view of the screen to the exterior of the base, Gavin watched the shifting form of the Beast slither inside. So many of it’s qualities reminded him of a serpent, not least of which was it’s venom, so recently demonstrated on Aaryanna’s mother. While others saw the malevolent demon as nothing short of the personification of evil, Gavin had always seen it as a means to an end. He could not accurately call it a tool, given that the Beast’s strength had been greater than his, but much like an ancient holocron from Star Wars, Gavin had learned all that he wished from the creature and now was the time to sever his apprenticeship. “I have returrrneddd servant.” It’s lips pulled back into an unnatural smile, exposing the sharp fangs coated in dried venom and blood. “Whattt hass occurrrrreddd in my absenccce.” Several large droplets of crimson saliva fell to the ground with last syllable. Gavin remained completely impassive. “It seems that Gadget survived, and now CTU and it’s allies are on their way here. They are also aware that James has been replaced with a synthoid. It is now likely that they will attempt to halt OtakuBoards: Evolution and the dispersal of the virus.” The Beast’s eyes narrowed to slits, a low growl emanating from it’s throat. “I thoughtt that youuu had safeguardsss in placcce to preventtt exactlyyy thisss from happeninngg.” How typical, it sought to place the burden of blame on him. “It seems that Gadget was able to trace on the signal I’ve been using to control the Otakubots and pinpoint the source.” “Youuu havve faileddd meee for the lasssst timmme Gavinnn.” Through inhuman speed, the Beast lunged for it’s prey, extended claws ripped through the fallen member’s chest, only for “Gavin” to explode as a mass of code. The creature howled in rage and drove it’s fist through the console Gavin had been sitting in front of, leaving the room in total darkness. “Youuu cannnottt hope to winnn. I ammm the darknesssss.” With a hiss, the Irishman’s blood coloured lightsaber blade erupted into existence and shot towards the Beast’s exposed back, slicing through the outer cloak and searing the flesh beneath. The sound the creature made was terrible, a fusion of pain, hatred and malevolence. Dark tendrils flew forward, threatening to impale Gavin, but the latter moved with an alacrity previously undisplayed and brought his blade upwards the slice through the vines. Lunging forward, he drove his shoulder into the Beast’s midsection, throwing the demon off balance. With a final wave of his hand through the air, thousands of strike-through needles warped into existence. “More than you expected ?” Neither Gavin’s face nor his voice betrayed emotion. “Youuu have grownnn stronggg boyyyy. A fine mealllll youuu willlll makkke.” Despite the illumination of the lightsaber’s blade, the blackness of the Beast’s eyes seemed to drink it all in like a void. “I don’t think so.” The thousands of spikes speared through the creature’s dark cloak, shredding it to pieces and drawing streams of black blood from the ancient evil. It roared in pain, and Gavin watched as the needles were pushed slowly back out of the Beast’s fur and fell few by few to the marble floor beneath them until none remained within the creature’s hide. Bringing his weapon into a defensive stance, Gavin prepared for the counter attack. It came faster than he expected as an invisible blow the side of his head send him hard across the room and into one of the concrete walls. The stone gave way under the force of the impact, creating a fissure beneath Gavin’s body. The Irishman could taste blood in his mouth, and bringing his hand to his forehead, felt a damp spot a few inches away from his temple. He had been lucky, a closer strike would have killed him outright. Climbing out of the wall, Gavin could not see the Beast anywhere within the inky darkness of the room, but it’s deep, angry breathing was enough for him to knew it was close. Throwing himself to the ground, he felt another invisible attack sweep over him, it crashed into the wall and sent several chunks of concrete flying and releasing a large cloud of dust. Sensing his opportunity, Gavin brushed his hand through the dust and watched it settle to the floor around him like a carpet. When the first footstep of the Beast made it’s mark, Gavin struck, leaving another deep sear in the creature’s flesh. Seeing that it could not longer rely on not being seen, the Beast lunged forward at him enemy again, this time one of it’s sharp claws managed to pierce Gavin’s shoulder and pin him to the wall. The lightsaber clattered to the ground, and a look of immense pleasure poured over the Beast’s face. “Seemmmmssss youuuu werrrre nottt quitte stronnngggg enouggghhh.” Gavin smiled. That same smiled he’d given off moments before he’d destroyed both the CTU headquarters and Charlie’s lair, the Beast knew that smile and it’s eyes widened in fear and surprise. “Gavin’s” flesh began to slowly dissolve around the wound, giving way to a metallic sheen. His visual features began to contort and became more feminine and then the synthoid’s fist shot forward through the Beast’s chest, locking the two together. “My father says goodbye.” On the other side of the Archives, Gavin watched as the top five floors of his base erupted in a white light and was reduced to nothingness. He lowered his head for a moment, a single tear running down the unmasked part of his face for his creation’s sacrifice. Wiping it away with his free hand, he walked slowly back towards the base, Josh would arrive soon, and after that, one way or another, it would all be over. ||||| Alright that’s pretty much everything, the blast at the end was caused by Alan’s admin rod, which has destroyed Gavin’s “daughter”, the gynoid he was building earlier in the thread, and sent The Beast to the Otherworld as planned.
3. I'd actually forgotten that bit Raiyuu, thanks for the reminder. If I'm right, and Pein and Konan are the other two members of Jiraiya's Genin team, then I'm curious as to whether or not Kishimoto is going to repeat Sarutobi's death in being killed by his former student. Before we knew anything about Konan and Pein's relationship with Jiraiya I was fairly certain Ero-Sennin was going to die, but now, I don't know it would just seem a bit unoriginal to me. I mean if the Tobito was the one to summon the Kyuubi, then he indirectly killed Minato, so that's two cases of the sensei being killed by the student. Make it three, and I get the feeling Kakashi might start to get worried about a future confrontation with Sasuke.
4.
And Revolver, in today's world scientific evidence affects everything. Without it, it can't or in this case shouldn't be spread, I've told you this before but pot is FAR worse than a cigarette! The tar is like doubled, and if I'm correct has far more carbon monoxide.
Your also forgetting the serious mental and psychological side-effects of long term marijuana abuse.
5. Right at this moment Aerosmith's "I don't want to miss a thing" is gently playing from my PC speakers. I'm not a big Aerosmith fan, but I really love this song, it just nails what it intends to do so well.
6. Gavin posts no dialogue because he is left in a quivering, salivating mess after seeing this picture.
7.
Try re-reading the thread. ;)
Just what I was thinking.
8. If theories are true, Konan was the female shinobi on Jiraiya's team with Minato. Taking Pein's ability to swap bodies into account as well, it may well be that he was the other remaining member of the team, given he refers to Jiraiya with the honorific "sensei". That said, I don't know if Pein's newest body is actually Deidara's, sure the resemblance is there, and it's possible that it's a clone, but I want to see some originality out of Pein. If he just takes bodies based on how effective they can be to him, it's a little too similar to Orochimaru for my tastes. Given that there were six bodies, and there are six chakra elements, I'm more willing to bet each body has a specific one for dealing with opponents. Anyone else curious about what Tobito meant with the "hawk or snake" reference for Sasuke ? On the note of curiousities, what five things would you like Kishimoto to give more info on ?
9. I wonder if they'll use a more powerful taser on him next time ? All joking aside, I have no time or pity for people who pull stunts like that for the sake of attention. He causes a huge scene and then after when he's being detained says he'll calmly walk out, what a ****-tard.
10. Alright, the main thread is up in the Square, I may post an Underground thread, but I don't really see the need at the moment.

Homeworld Hell

Sorry about how long this took, real life can be a real bitch sometimes. ||||| Running a hand through his once again brown hair, Gavin tried desperately to piece together what had taken place. Only and hour beforehand he was celebrating becoming a father for the first time, and now he had not only lost his children, but his father too. While Rai looked calmer now, he didn't even need to sense the bloodlust lurking just under the surface, because it was the same for every one of them. Andrew threw himself down on the ground roughly next to his friend and placed a hand on his shoulder. Gavin nodded and let his free hand grip it in recognition. The older Saiyan males had encircled his father's body were quietly reciting a prayer in their native tongue, Saiyan funerals were remarkably more simple than their human counterparts, his dad's friends would pay their respects first and then Gavin would take his battle armour and blast the remains into oblivion. Apparently the ceremony had evolved in the battlefield where there was no time for pomp and ceremony. After a few moments, his father's eldest brother called Gavin forward. Carefully he removed the charcoal battle-jacket piece by piece, until there was only the protective weave covering the body. Moving back a foot, Gavin extended his right hand towards his father's body with fingers spread, green ki energy charged and after a moment the deed was done and his father was committed fully to the afterlife. Slowly the younger Saiyan replaced his own battle-jacket with his father?s, before turning to the assembled Saiyans, he looked from the eyes of one to the next, and each nodded in turn. ?We all know who did this. And I?m sure we all know why this was done. Morrigan threatened our people with slavery and death.? There was a low rumble of acknowledgement. The young Saiyan?s voice got louder. ?We fought back and killed thousands of her troops. Even when she set foot on the battlefield of our homeworld we fought her to the last man or woman. She destroyed our homeworld and but even the galaxy?s terror could not extinguish us !? Gavin pumped his hand into the air with a roar, receiving a similar response from the others. ?A few years ago we killed her daughter Sella, and in doing so we threw down the gauntlet again. This time... THIS TIME, SHE WILL DIE !!? Gavin was greeted with only silence this time. Many of the older Saiyans had been only young when the homeworld had been destroyed, and of the few who had managed to become Super Saiyans before the end had been killed with ease by Morrigan. Their king, the most powerful of all Saiyans had fought her for only a few minutes before he was overwhelmed and met his end, and in nearly half a century no-one had exceeded his strength. ?This is madness.? An old silver haired Saiyan shook his head. ?Gavin I understand your pain, fifty years ago I lost my children, but what you ask is impossible. If you face Morrigan by yourself, you?ll surely be killed.? Most of the oldest Saiyans nodded sadly in agreement, each of them reflecting on the losses they had suffered in the war. ?He won?t be alone.? Andrew walked forward and stood beside his friend. ?He?s right, this time she will die.? Neil and Vicky did likewise. ?We won?t allow Warlock to have died for nothing.? Connor and Rai moved behind Gavin. The group of six looked on at the rest, they had killed Sella, if anyone would kill her mother, it made sense that it be them. ||||| OK, not the best entrance, but as I said, I?ve been real busy. Just give your basic reactions to everything with a bit of character development, so we have a baseline to work from.
12. What exactly are we discussing here Chibi, the trials of the Jena Six or everything that led up to it as well ? If we're discussing the latter, it seems to me that the tensions let loose by this existed before the noose incident, and that this is just the sad result of those tensions and an obvious lack of proper discipline by the school's board. Regardless of whether it was intended as a "harmless prank" or not, those three were old enough to know that there was nothing "harmless" about the symbology behind what they did. As for the Jena Six, I don't think there is no justification in six people brutally beating one person to the point of unconsciousness. That said, the "attempted murder" charge is obviously ridiculous overkill, when an assault charge is more in line with the crime. Seems to me though that this whole thing has been blown into a huge civil rights thing, when really it's down to some incompetent civil servants and a powder-keg of racial tension.
13.
But you can still smoke in designated areas in public places... apparently that means the gas pump! I swear some smokers are idiots. I was pumping my gas tonight and the guy at the pump next to me was smoking away! :animeswea
The fact I just saw Zoolander for the first time makes that quote creepily apt. :animesmil
14.
Nerds rock. :p (
And usually Otakus don't.
)
We should probably change the name of the boards then...
15. Aceburner's equation sums it up pretty well.
16.
I agree with Gavin, even though I never knew Ireland banned smoking from bars. But if it works!
It's more than that, it's a ban on smoking in all enclosed public places, i.e. bars, restaurants, shops, etc. all on top of the ban on smoking in state buildings like libraries, hospitals and the like. Originally a lot of bar owners were worried it would badly affect their business, but so far, drinks revenue is actually up, given that people who never went into bars because of the smoke can enjoy the occasional drink.
17. At the moment, I'm using a local wireless high-speed LAN provider called Premier Broadband and it's been mostly a very positive experience, despite some hiccups that I need to sort out in the near future. Compared to the 26.4 kbps dial-up service I was using before, well it's a whole different experience. I don't know whether we're on the 512 kb or 1 mb service as it just gives the overall LAN speed as being 100 mb from the connection menu. It's something like ?24.99 a month though, it doesn't really make any difference, as I was paying the same for 120 hours of dial-up per month.
18.
And as a random sidenote: let people smoke in bars.
On an equally random sidenote, since Ireland introduced it's smoking ban, bar workers apparently experience better health records. Go them.
19.
Tobito (I've finally broken down and decided to start calling him that)
Well I'm sometimes partial to Obitobi because it sounds funny. :animesmil As for Andy's three questions: 1] Sort of, but I think we're really going to see Naruto built up a lot more after the Jiraiya/Pein and Sasuke/Itachi fights. I'd also like to see some of the other Leaf ninja built up a bit more too. 2] Hmm, still not sure about this one. On the one hand we've never seen Itachi really fight and on the other we've seen how easily Sasuke finished Orochimaru. It's either going to be quick and decisive in one favour, or it's going to be rather drawn out. Either way it'll probably be good. 3] I don't know if he's necessarily staring at anyone, it's entirely possible he's just doing typical Uchiha "staring off in the distance emo-ly".
20.
I'm interested in seeing what Tobi can do, as well, but I'm okay with waiting a bit longer to see it. Pein has been around for forever, so I want to see him fight already, haha. My interest in Konan has diminished a bit, mostly because all we know she can do is turn into origami butterflies (useful for spying, not so much for fighting). Then again, I wouldn't doubt that she'll eventually do some crazy WTF jutsu that will really show why she's an S-class criminal.
Seconded Mike, I'm far more interested to see what Tobito can do, as in reality compared to the other Akatsuki members we've seen practically nothing of him. That, and as a pair, Konan and Pein [who really do sound like supervillain rejects] haven't really interested me in a while. They both had all this mystique about them, and somehow over the last few chapters it's sort of disappeared. As for Tobito's Mangekyo Sharingan, I've just taken another look at the image, and I don't think it looks any different from the regular three-tomoe version.
21. Well I have to side with DB and every other sane Naruto fan on this one, the English dubs suck, no question. The only reason I ever watch a dubbed episode is if there's not a subbed one available, because the voices are just so bad when compared to the original Japanese ones. As for Naruto: The Abridged Series, a glance at my sig will tell you I'm a fan, Zabuza as MC Hammer was just so awesome.
22. Nodding, Nagata drained the rest of his cognac back before waving the empty glass at the same voluptuous servant girl as before. Having paid her the equivalent of a month's salary for a single drink, she was, needless to say, very willing to be of service to the two customers. He noted, with some degree of interest that when she refilled his glass, her breasts were noticeably closer to his face than they had been before...a bit obvious, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. "Hey bitch, what the fuck am I ? Chopped dragon's liver ? If you're gonna stick your tits in anyone's face, they ought to be in mine." The demon ninja watched as crimson spread across the young woman's face at an astonishing pace. As she finished pouring the drinks she mumbled something about being there if he needed another one, before withdrawing to the other side of the establishment. The normally icy cold Nagata cast a furious eye at his vampiric acquaintance. ?Nicely played.? Vladmir shrugged his shoulders while an all-to-pleased-with-himself grin plastered his grey face. Doubtlessly he?d enjoyed absorbing the emotions from the embarrassed girl, it was the equivalent of a drink on Nagata?s tab. Tossing back the amber liquid, he returned his attention to the scene of the sylph and the thief. It appeared that Mreelsa had taken an even greater interest in the boy than she did most mortal men, which was odd given how fragile they were. For the demon ninja humans were nothing more than brief entertainment. As he was about to order his third drink, he felt a hand gracefully trace along his shoulder. Turning his head, Nagata was staring into the face of a rather attractive looking women. While his face didn?t outwardly change, the ninja noted by her stance she was carrying at least two concealed weapons. ?Are you Nagata ?? Most humans pictured the most deadly warriors as being men over six and a half feet tall, armed with swords or axes that could cleave an ogre in two with a single swipe. In the demon ninja?s opinion, beautiful women between the heights of 5?6? and 6?0? were a more accurate estimation. Of course she was no threat to him, he could kill her in a dozen different ways before her hand would leave his shoulder, but it was always fun to let them play their games. ?How can I help you my dear ?? A sharp kick to Vladmir?s foot underneath the table sent a message for him to not interfere this time. The stranger leaned in close so that her lips were brushing against his ear. ?You can die and make me very rich.? Nagata actually laughed, which for a normal person would have been the equivalent of falling to the ground and guffawing with such potency as to cause them to die from their lungs exploding from overuse. Grabbing the woman?s hand, he threw her roughly half way across the room through a few tables and one unlucky fairy who was now lying unconscious on the floor. Casting his eyes to the heavens, he teleported over to his would-be assassin. ?Who are you ?? There were so many bounties of his head there was little point in asking who sent her, it was just one of the few drawbacks of being so famous. ?Leresa Krales.? He raised an eyebrow. Her face warped into a look of pride. ?Never heard of you.? The expression faded back again into anger. Just as he was about to continue, a dagger flew out of nowhere and lodged hard in the young woman?s brow. She fell back, stone dead onto the floor. ?Damn, I was aiming for the asshole who ruined my drinks. Oh well, better her than he. Tossing a few coins at the overweight man, who?s stench could very well have been a weapon in itself, Nagata suggested coldly that the man buy another round. As the obese individual lost his courage, the demon ninja teleported back into his seat and waved the oddly empty glass at the servant wench again, before scowling at Vladmir for finishing his drink. ||||| How long before I have to kill Rev too ?
23.
For those of you who don't smoke what do you think of smoking?
Honestly, I think it's a vile and stupid habit, given how well published the links between cancer and smoking are nowadays. I suppose it's fairly personal for anyone who's had to watch people close to them dying of cancer brought on by smoking, like I have but I still don't see why people would ever choose to start smoking in the first place. I don't have anything against smokers, given my mother and sister both smoke, I don't notice the smell off smokers any more, but I still can't stand to be around people smoking, as I start coughing like crazy and the smell is just awful. Also, Metalcore, do yourself a favour and quit. My brother was your age when he started and managed to stop after four years, and he'd be the first to tell you he's better off.
24. Sorry about the delay, went to an old friend's birthday party last night. As for killing Guy, your wish is my command. Hopefully it will be both ironic and Cymantic.
25. "So, what did I miss this time ?" Appearing within a small puff of smoke in the empty seat next to the vampiric Count Embarrasser, Nagata cast a curious eye over to the sight of the sylph Mreelsa standing over a rather bewildered and aroused looking boy. To his credit Vladmir showed no real surprise at the demon ninja's arrival, merely arching an eyebrow upwards. "You're too fucking near me, move across to the next seat. I don't want the ladies around here to get the wrong fucking idea." It was Nagata's turn to raise an eyebrow, between the pair of immortals they had enough conquests to their name to populate a small country. Shrugging his shoulders, the supernatural warrior steepled his finger and teleported to the next seat within another small puff of smoke. It probably would have been easier to just get up, walk a foot and sit down again, but for some reason, it just didn't seem Cymantic enough. Extending out a pair of high value coins towards the serving wench he as, after a moment sipping down a passable attempt at an aged cognac. Returning his attention to the vampire, Nagata repeated his question again.
