"Jeez guys, isn't this a bit harsh ?" Gavin watched as the mob piled more and more loose timber around Sandy, who was tied to a vertical pillar and looking rather worried. Evidently the soon to be ex-moderator had under-estimated just how far the average member was willing to go in order to assuage their grievances. "SILENCE !! This is for the greater good of all OtakuBoards !" Beneath the black cowl, Mitch's voice was more than a little recognisable... "And he has no respect for my subtle and eloquent use of the language of Chaucer or Dickens. That along is worthy of death !!" "OK then, I'll go and get some marshmallows so we can all roast them over his searing corpse... He lowered his tone to a barely audible level. "...Or I'll just go and get the hell out of here before you guys decide to sacrifice me to The Blue Beast." "Great idea. Make sure you get the mixed colour bags. It's less racist. Gavin's eyes rolled. Racist marshmallows ? Where the hell was he going, KKK-Mart ? Sandy's anguished screams were getting louder as he ran off, by the time his feet had stopped moving, he'd suddenly arrived in on his wife, Charles and Japan and a shitload of penguins... one of which looked rather injured. "Did I miss something ? He then got the delicious smell of shrimp and was instantly mollified.
Super Human Samurai Cyber Squad
So I'm not the only one who liked that show, heh. Most of my childhood ones have been mentioned already, all the Disney stuff like Rescue Rangers, Tail Spin, Duck Tales and Darkwing Duck, though I hated Alvin and the Chipmunks for some reason. All the Marvel stuff like Spiderman, The Hulk and X-Men were great as well, probably half the reason I'm such a massive nerd today. Star Trek: The Next Generation was cool, I used to sit and watch it with my dad, he'd been raised on The Original Series which to this day I can't watch because of it's shite plots and dodgy actors. After the first series of Power Rangers, anything that had to do with martial arts was cool for me, despite me dad being best friends with a former karate world champion, it wasn't until PW it seemed worth watching. If I remember right, Captain Planet caused a "save the environment" binge in my local school when it was airing. It was funny to see classmates put their knuckles together and pick up rubbish thinking it was cool, half of them wouldn't do it for money now. Biker Mice from Mars was another one I remember. Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, it was Hero on this side of the Atlantic, something about kids acting like ninjas if they saw it in the title... Saved by the Bell, Fresh Prince of Bell Air and the Brady Bunch, which was big in our house. Johnny Quest, Flintstones and the Jetsons. And of course the last big two. Dragonball Z and Transformers Generation 1.
If I recall, the Newbie Lounge was a failure. Wouldn't that just make the situation worse? Plus from what I read, the Padded Room Party's newest installment had hardly anything problematic with it. Unless I read the wrong way.
Failure is perhaps an inaccurate word. It's level of quality/spam was simply too low/high to be considered appropriate for OtakuBoards/anywhere else. -
Andy, quit running yourself down man. I keep telling you, I know nobody else who writes DBZ as good as you do, seriously man, it's Toriyama level stuff.

"Ploppy this is Janus, come in. I repeat Ploppy this is Janus, please respond.? Nothing, three times he?d tried to reach both of the accompanying agents and gotten nothing but a wall of static. Half a dozen different scenarios poured into his mind, statistics of how likely it might be they they?d been captured and where they might have been taken, or worse the possibility that they?d been killed. It was possible that they were observing radio silence, but they should have at least confirmed their penetration of the base interior. ?This isn?t good.? The tendency to speak to himself was most apparent when Janus was place in a stressful situation. It was something of a defence mechanism, a way to work through different lines of thought. He moved down through the roughly hewn cave system of the terrorist base, he?d been gone only a matter of weeks but was still acutely aware that Charles would almost certainly have improved the security systems since Janus? exit. He counted at least six video cameras, each positioned to give them a maximum collective field of view, but even then there were weaknesses to be exploited and he?d moved past them without any great difficulty, detonating a ?buzzer? an electronic jammer that would cause static interference for a few seconds. Click. He pulled in a sharp breath, the sound was unmistakable, the hammer of a handgun being pulled back. His mind raced, frantically trying to think up of some way to get out of this situation. The volume indicated the assailant was about five feet from him, and was holding the gun some four and a half foot from the ground, which would give a perfect shot at his heart. Even if tried to flip backwards towards the target, there was still a 62% chance that he would be killed by the first bullet, and only a 9% chance he?d be able to disable the individual while remaining unharmed. There was only one way out of this... ?I guess you?ve...? His voice was flat, as he turned to face whoever was there, his hands moved behind his head and interlocked. When her face came into view, Janus had to fight to finish the sentence, a sealed hoard of emotion flowing back into him, ?...got me.? Her face remained impassive, but the eyes blazed, he couldn?t blame her. She looked the same as she always had, her aged male disguise shed, dark hair and eyes that seemed to look right through him, deep into his soul. The one-winged angel pendant still hung around her neck. A few years ago, she would had thrown herself lovingly into Janus? arms... the arms of her husband. ?I should kill you right now you... you traitor.? She moved forward pushing the barrel straight into his chest. His cheek blazed as a short burst of pain as her palm connected, his vision never left her face. ?I won?t lie to you Rai. I spent too much of our time together lying to keep doing it now. But it was all real, every time I said I loved you, and that I wanted to spent the rest of our lives together.? He blinked back tears, of a life he might have had together in a different time. She slapped him across the face again, tears welling in her eyes. The barrel of the pistol threatened to go right into though his chest. ?I loved you. I TRUSTED you, and you took my trust and love and betrayed us all.? He took a step back, unlocked his fingers and moving them in front of his chest, in a single movement he?d torn the material covering his chest, exposing the bare skin underneath which beat the heart she threatened to put a bullet through. ?Do it. I?d rather die a quick, clean death than hear you say I broke your trust and our love.? The gun fell by her side and their lips met in a loving embrace. Suddenly Janus felt at home again, and hated the thought of how short it would be...
QFT Chai tea is good. I make it in hot milk and add a bit of sugar and a bit of nutmeg or cinnamon, and it tastes just like pumpkin pie. You know, without the pumpkin.
I guess I'll just have to try it some time, though I've never actually had pumpkin pie and I despise cinnamon. Still though, life is all about trying new things. Oh, I'm going to add another tea I got hooked on a few years ago. Turkish Apple Tea, warm to hot with two sugars has a very pleasant taste. Anyone else had it ?
I think there are more people now with myOs than before...it's just that most of them aren't on OB. It's a little weird in that way, hehe.
Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. MyO at the start was a very OB-centric thing and they sort of got impersonal where all the highest views went to people nobody had ever heard of.
I miss the AIM chats too. Maybe we should think about putting another one together, yes? ~_^

Yeah. . .this is an idea I presented to Charles. We should make it a point to have official AIM chats again. Those were the dog's bark, the chemical's molecule, the laughing's cackle, the banana's peel, the mom's dad. We need to do that again, and officially, and such--meaning, announce it on OB and have a set time where we can chat together.
That'd be great, and you two won't get any complaints from me, or any other member or so I'd imagine. The only reason I never do them is I could never get the damn things to work, and I had awful lag.
I cant really comment because I generally only ever visit this one section of the boards now but it feels like there arent as many new members posting anymore. By new, I mean 'new new'. I'm sure most of the members I dont know have screennames that were familiar 6 months ago too, so I wouldnt really consider them fresh blood. The clique-ishness has always been around. I'm more curious about how members interact with one another now. Before, members would hold huge AIM chatrooms and most of the OB 'socialising' would go on in AIM behind the scenes, and then we had Blogger and myO and whatnot. Some of us would even phone each other and send one another mail or even meet up in real life. I know the older members have kinda expectedly grown apart, but do the newer/new members still do all this kinda stuff? I'm kinda getting the vibe they dont, but I honestly wouldnt have a clue.
I actually miss those massive AIM chats, it was always a lot more fun just chatting to people in a kind of relaxed atmosphere and laughing at some of the random things that would occur. MyO seems to have lost most of it's hype, at least compared to it's introduction when everyone and their mum had a MyO. [Edit] To actually answer the topic, for me, OB has always seemed like the home of my extended family, where I talk with people I've known for the last five and a bit years, or less and have fun doing stuff I don't do in real life, like writing stories for fun. It's a lot more than just a collection of forums with recurring familiar users.

What kinds of threads are and are not appropriate for the Adventure Square?
Gavin replied to Gavin's topic in Help & Feedback
I definitely agree with you, and I think it's a shame that this kind of mutual exclusivity seems to exist between short bursts of creative work and longer, more detailed and more planned RPGs if they're of relatively the same quality. Obviously the longer the work, usually the more quality that goes into it. -
Alright, seeing as that's on of the topics that the "I'm a little confused" thread spun off into, I've launched it as a separate thread so we can keep the original on topic for what it was meant to discuss. Personally I think there's a lot of room for interpretation as to what appropriate is, as different people are going to have different opinions of what appropriate means. RPGs like Kill Adam pretty much redefined, or at least modernised how we view cursing and violence in RPGs, or at least brought them to a higher plateau than they had been previously, and yet there were concerns it was not appropriate for OB. In the end, we adapted and both people and the writing grew as a result. As we found out also, people have different opinions of what fun means, some see fun as being a well laid out, well written RPG brimming with detail and drama, others seem it as short quick bursts of creative mirth and sometimes those two viewpoints collide. I really do hope this thread actually proves beneficial to everyone, as as far as I'm concerned, this bad feeling going around the Arena has been there way too long to be good for anyone.
I'm the same way. It's almost a betrayal that something can smell so good and yet taste so horrible. My friends keep saying oh it's because this one is better or this one and I've yet to run into one that didn't taste terrible. I just don't like Coffee.
I know, and it's really awful when you get that great smell early in the morning and can't stand the taste, I've tried a bucket of different types in different ways and like with you, they all taste awful. It's just God damn wrong to make something that smells so great taste so horrid. On a side note, I'm enjoying a cup of Earl Grey at the moment. Has anyone had Chai tea ? I saw it the whole time in Australia and never tasted it.

Now that's a fight !! Poor 'Lock I had a feeling it was the big goodbye for him, still though we'll tear apart that ugly Cameron inspired ***** before the end, and after that an even greater horror, college exams...
Doesn't it make it all the more fun though when you see the stuff blacked out, or the sounds bleeped out? We all know what the BLEEP you mean anyways, so what's the BLEEPin point of being able to see it in print?
Because it's sometimes a pain in the *** to try and work out which curse word he used when it's just a group of five or seven asterisks put together. I guess now it's just a question of who goes SSJ and enters into a titantic batte with Sella, though I have a feeling it won't be in time to save poor 'Lock. I suppose we'll also find out if D'Ann is going to overrule Akira on his no female super Saiyans...

Barry's Tea (Irish Brand) in a large cup or average sized mug, three sugars and plenty of milk, preferably with something to eat, or if it's on it's own two sugars and plenty of milk. I drink Earl Grey occasionally on it's own as it's not really a tea you'd have with something, too distinct a flavour. Coffee I abhor the taste of, despite finding it to have one of the most pleasant aromas I know. Major props to Nerdsy for that line.

I'm in Bill's boat, another few weeks until it hits this side of the Atlantic and not expecting it to live up to what G1 and the original movie left behind, though the special effects are going to be something to see. Like a few others I've avoided reading reviews or watching previews so I won't get hit with any spoilers.

Maybe it's just me and one of those days, but I hadn't even noticed it.

And here I'd have been happy with just a concluding chapter, but no, we get two, a cliff hanger and the sequel story launched all in the one day. Great work Mike, truly great work and I genuinely hope you'll keep this going in given the momentum you built up before. I'm thinking of writing some of Gavin's backstory, something that will involve an ill-fated romance with Raiha thanks to James' interferance and subsquent life trying to kill him.

12 Hours Earlier As his footsteps sounded further and further from Commander Grape Ape's office, Janus found himself in an almost daydream-like state, musing over what mission he might had been given. It didn't really matter though, the thought of getting back into the field, back into the heat of things was all that was on his mind, Josh could order him into the pits of Hell and it wouldn't make any difference. The lock sat concealed in his jacket pocket, even the sight of it had surprised the Irishman, much less to have it pressed into his hands for usage. Having never been a moderator, this was the closest he'd ever been wielding a mod rod, and smirking quietly to himself, he had to admit it felt pretty good. Entering his room he quickly packed the necessities for the mission, much of it still lying in the bags he'd entered CTU with only a few weeks beforehand. The rendezvous point was about thirty clicks outside of OtakuBoards City, out in the wilderness inhabited by disenchanted veterans and feral n00bs and neither group would be particularly welcoming to the team. 8 Hours Earlier Snap. A broken twig and Gavin's full attention, as well as the lock from his pocket was trained on his 9 o'clock. 90% chance it was one of the other agents, 9.9.% it was an inhabitant of the area who'd seen his vehicle moving in the distance, 0.1% chance it was a terrorist who'd found out about the rendezvous and come to take him out. He waited making no sound, before Ploppy exited the brush looking rather guilty. "Don't shoot ! Sorry about that, I thought I was the first one out here." Gavin lowered his weapon, merely nodding. "No. I've been here about half an hour already. I was expecting someone else though. Have to say I'm surprised you're on this mission Spaceship." "Guess you've been out in the field as long as I have then Irish." Janus turned and found himself facing an identical lock to the one he'd been pointing at Ploppy, holding it was Sour Candy, the only field agent of CTU on longer deployment than he was. SC cracked a smile at Gavin's surprise, evidently pleased that he'd been able to get the jump on him. "In the field that would get you killed. I guess hanging around all those &^£$£^@ terrorists has made you a bit complacent." Janus merely blew out a derisive breath. "Maybe. Maybe it's just easy to get the drop on people you trained." Sour Candy's grin grew wider, and the frown on Gavin's face disappeared into a smile as he patted him on the back. Ploppy meanwhile had been searching in nearby rocks and returned with a locked tablet PC. Unlocking it with his weapon, they watched as Grape's face appeared on the screen. "Hello Angels" He said grinning. Ploppy smiled, Janus sighed and Sour Candy cursed under his breath. "As you know Nomura was in our midst long enough to represent an absolutely dire security breach, he had access to all our active investigations as a trusted agent. Therefore your mission is to infiltrate the terrorist base, and retrieve Nomura, or should this not be possible, to terminate him." Janus and Sour Candy's expressions changed to smiles, of all the CTU agents, they were the ones who must enjoyed these kinds of missions with sanctioned use of lethal force. Ploppy face remained unreadable. The recording continued. "Along with this PC you'll find gear for the mission, excluding weapons as you've already been provided with the locks. As Janus acted as our inside man in the terrorist base he'll act as guide, but overall command falls to Ploppy and I know you'll follow his orders. Good luck, and God speed." The screen went dead as each of them pondered the mission ahead of them. Suddenly Josh's face reappeared on the screeen. "By the way, this message will self-destruct in five seconds as standard." "Fudge." Sour grabbed the piece of tech, hurling it as far as he could away from the three agents. A moment later there was a quick flash and a low rumble as it detonated to prevent the information falling into unwanted hands. All was quiet for a few moments before Ploppy got up and headed for the equipment. "Alright, we'd better head out then. Our gear is over there, Janus we'll use your vehicle as it's built for the terrain we'll be facing." "Understood." "Sour, you'll act as lookout for any potential terrorist spotters. We need to get in an out undetected." Sour nodded in agreement. Each of them removed their gear and changed, before getting into the stealth-tech equipped jeep and heading towards the desert. Present Time Clad in black, the three agents penetrated the terrorist outer base at different entry points without incident, two guards falling stunned before Janus' lock. Moving into a secure spot, he activated his radio to report to Ploppy. "This is Janus. I'm in."
To-Do

Visit an Irish pub with Gavin and Raiha. Leave when things get awkward.
-Shy
Which kind of awkward are we talking about here Josh ? As with pubs, you, me and D'Ann together there can be a lot of different awkwards. Anyway, on with the listing on names. D'Ann [Neuvoxraiha] - Because she's my beloved wife and I'd like to see what kind of awkward situations we could have in pubs with Josh. Bill [Jokopoko] - So we could see the new TF movie together and complain how it doesn't hold the spirit of G1. Yes we're sad, but that's what makes us friends. Andy [Andrew] - To meet my oldest friend on OB and one of it's most unrecognised and yet important oldies. Without him this would've been a boring place. Josh [Shy] - So I could comb the beaches of California looking for women and not worry about him stealing them... just kidding buddy. In reality I'd want to meet him because he's a great person... and I want to go to a pub with him and D'Ann as he suggested. Jamie [Ezekiel] - Wonderful person, I would truly love to meet her in real life. Mike [The Boss] - Because he's The Boss and he's one of the few people with a DBZ addiction to rival my own. Alex [Brasil, Papa Smurf, etc] - Razor sharp wit, very funny and like me a Star Wars junkie. Annie [Athena] - So we could watch Red vs Blue and laugh our ***** off. Corey [Corey] - He ruled, was Irish though American and a person I was blessed to call friend. Charles [Charles/Baby Girl] - He's the Sensei of cAttitude, of course I want to bloody well meet him. I forgive him for being a terrorist though. Dead [DeadSeraphim] - So I could thank him personally/throttle him for ending my use of the phrase "Interesting, most interesting" and introducing me to Group Sounds.
The main thing I'm happy about is that damn message receipt thing on PMs. I can't tell you how much that was bugging me for years, lol. Why people ever had those message receipts was beyond me.

Back again, and back with Elder Scrolls Oblivion, this time adding the Daedric Prince Sheogoroth from the Shivering Isles expansion to the list. To be fair I'm normally very tolerant of people doing Irish accents, good, bad or indifferent as usually it just implies our little accent is considered worth imitating. However in TES4 expansion the Mad God Sheogoroth's voice goes from Irish to Scottish to American depending on the level of anger, not necessarily in that order, though most often. On the plus side Haskill his chamberlain is the most funny character to date. Again they've used the same voice actors, indeed they used the same actor who did most of the major voices for the last expansion Knights of the Nine, the stink of laziness is again very potent.

Sounds interesting. I'd never heard of a manga called Claymore. Name: Gaius Gender: Male Appearance: With piercing silver eyes, barely perceptible dark brown hair shaved closely to his skull and a perpetual look of grim dissatisfaction, one would be forgiven for assuming Gaius to be a member of a religious brotherhood, though in reality nothing could be further from the truth. Physically tall and broad, Gaius is the kind of man who people answer questions to very quickly and very honestly for fear of a violent retort to insolence. His skin is neither very pale nor very tanned, sitting somewhere in the region between the two, though worn from decades of fighting and social isolation. Society: Last Line Armor and Weapon: Armour and Weapon by Zionenciel As above. As is the case with all Last Line members, Gaius fights in heavy plate armour with an accompanying sizable sword. Forged of a dusky coloured metal, the armour is in direct contrast to the bright steel from which his weapon is composed. Abilities: Enhanced strength and endurance. Even by Hunter standard?s Gaius is considered to be unusually strong and resilient, given his ability to wield both his choice weapon and his predilection for fighting multiple enemies in close combat at once.
