2. Bah, sorry to have taken so long old friend but there's been war at home over the phoneline. Name: John MacLaoidhigh, also goes by the codename Sigma. Age: 28 Gender: Male Specialty: Extra Sensory Perception History: Esper, psycher, there are a number of names for what I am, several not polite enough to be used in company. If you listen to some people, they?ll tell you I can suck your soul right out of your body with only a wave of my hand and a few choice words. It?s all ******** of course, if I could take someone?s soul I?d be a lawyer instead of a merc, or maybe a debt collector, I can?t imagine too many people arguing over money when their soul is at stake. My entire life I?ve been segregated because of what I am, in school other children were afraid to be around me, some were fascinated asking me to read their minds and tell them what they were getting for Christmas, when I told them it didn?t work that way I was treated as though I didn?t exist, just another stone in the playground. High school was little better, I was lucky in that I wasn?t the only psycher in the school but at ten thousand students, I couldn?t imagine being the only one. Her name was Emma, but she hated it when I called her that said she preferred the name Theta, that Emma was a human name and we weren?t human, at least not fully. She was three years older than me, but that didn?t stop us ending up in a relationship, I?d always looked older than I was, guess that?s maybe where part of the attraction lay. You can?t compare a normal relationship to a psycher one, I couldn?t even begin to describe the differences, we were together in mind, body and soul for three years and I naively thought it would last forever. Reality dawned when Emma graduated and she wanted nothing more to do with me, she was a college student and I was a high school kid and that was all there was to it. The next two years blurred into a haze, I left school pretty soon after, it reminded me of her too much, I picked up work as a porter in a bank but the money was **** and when I was revealed as a psycher I was removed from my position because they thought I was reading people?s minds. I didn?t matter that I couldn?t, at least not actively or purposefully but I found myself back again with nothing. Couple of years drifted by, out of the blue I got a call from Emma, at first I wanted nothing to do with her, she called every day for a week and left more than a dozen messages on my answering machine, eventually I gave in an asked her what she wanted. She introduced me to my current line of work, seems that a lot of people are interested in hiring espers for occult reasons, others are more interested in using us to terminate those occult circles. I fell in with the latter, some of my contracts even came from those in the Church, I?ve seen stuff that couldn?t be believed and I?ve killed more than a few people. Eventually I started to get sick, the nightmares started, in the business it?s called psycher-psychosis, people who can?t hack what they?ve seen and done. I spent six months in an institution having my mind put back together piece by piece, the nightmares didn?t stop, nor will they ever stop, but I got back into the game. Within six years a burn-out like me had climbed the ranks faster than anyone, maybe it was that I was willing to take any job from anyone with enough cash to do anything. Two days ago I got the call from Latigo Corp, I wasn?t even phased by what they told me I?d see, I just told them I wanted my pay in cash.
 3. Interesting, most interesting. Heh I must admit compared to most other people here I feel like a bit of a comic collecting newbie. At the moment I've been buying Dark Horse's Star Wars Legacy comic series, two so far, as they're only released recently. Being a massive Star Wars junkie, I must admit I'm rather taken with the series, which surprises me as originally I thought the idea behind the series was quite rubbish. However having read the first and second issues, as well as the most recent Star Wars novels, I must admit I think Dark Horse actually have the better storyline.
 4. Interesting, most interesting. I recall seeing this site actually been advertised on eBay a few days ago, the guy there claimed it was legit but I'm honestly not so sure. I mean seriously what site can afford to give away all that stuff for free ? There's no way you could cover your costs through advertising alone, so there must be something dodgy about it. However like Ken, if someone were to drop an iPod Nano into my hand for a few referrals, I think I'd be more than willing.
 5. Interesting, most interesting. Well according to the Wikipedia article on director David Yates here, he is directing the fifth Harry Potter movie which is in production as we speak. I honestly can't imagine Warner actually changing a director during production, that's like changing a painter in the middle of a portrait. Personally I don't really care who ends up directing it as in the end I'm not sure how well it'll be translated to the silver screen, I'll have to go back and reread OotP, but given Gambon's performance in the last film, I feel he'll be a detraction in an important role. 7. Interesting, most interesting. Since get a new program called Onpseed a few days ago, I've been going pretty much halves between Firefox and Internet Explorer, as the difference between load times has dropped significantly. Pretty much the only reason I still use IE instead of Firefox is that unlike the Mozilla product, I can view files offline, which is pretty handy if you're trying to write an RPG sign up. For general browsing however I use Firefox more though, OB just looks so much better with Firefox at a reduced font size for some reason.

 11. Interesting, most interesting. I guess it'll come as no surprise to people that if I were to become a fascist dictator, I'd morph pretty quickly into a theocratic Catholic dictator, those who do not abide by the rules of the Church are banished, as I'm not big on the whole genocide thing. Taking cues from the film Equilibrium, I think a daily dose of an emotion suppressing substance, to better keep the masses in line would be useful, although then you're really losing the spiritual connection to the holy sacraments, hmm that'll need to be worked on, better to get them all believing the same thing first. Crime and punishment, taking cues from another film, who's name I simply cannot recall, create generic memories of hell torture and spread them through-out the population, showing people exactly what they're in for if they commit a crime. I'm pretty sure an infinity to demonic torture would be a slightly better deterrent than a few years behind bars. Education is all important, so long as it doesn't lead people to question the main tenets of the Church, I'm all for science but when people simply refuse to accept the fact the of all the species on Earth, we're the only sentient one and we came to prominence only after the previous dominant ones [the dinosaurs - non-sentients] were wiped out seems a little too convenient to be pure chance, then we have problems. Give people as varied an education as possible, allow them to go on to university if it so pleases them, as a better understanding of life and the world leads to a better understanding of your faith. Of course the mind control drugs keep them from having any unwanted rebellious thoughts, so we're safe on that account. Health system is universal, everyone gets the same treatment regardless of personal wealth, and those who need it most get it first. Doctors are required to be friendly to their patients, as there's nothing worse than a doctor who says very little to you about your health issues. Military is disbanded, seeing as we have no need to wars as we're all going to be living in a mind controlled bliss, police force is expanded from those in the military, mostly as guardians of the peace from those who refuse to take their medicine and to safeguard from potential extra-terrestrial harm. All non-Catholic religions are disbanded and their members forced to convert or be banished, I'm not sure exactly what banishment would mean, probably to a secured continent that they're not allowed leave, with the exception of Scientologists who are forced to convert, I will have none of that crap anywhere on the planet. Attending mass on a weekly basis is required by law, as is attending all religious holidays, regular confession for your sins, for your own benefit of course. Garbage music and television are banned, TV producers will actually be required to go look up the term "entertainment" and run all pilots by a Church board, same goes for movies and music. Generally society is streamlined, and we're all happy. I suppose in the end I'd actually have to defer all my authority to the Pope, that is if I weren't the Pope... OK, not going there. Anyway, there's my fascist paradise, not too shabby, I wouldn't mind living as a citizen there.

Prick Wizard, you really need to go consult something like Wikipedia before you go posting here, it's for your own sake and to keep some shred of dignity intact. Now this is probably going to surprise you too, but I'm from Ireland, you know, the place with all the leprechauns, fairies and other magical creatures ? Now I know this is akin to ruining the secret of Santa, but there are no leprechauns in Ireland, we don't live in thatched housing and there's no such thing as fairies, or elves, or dragons or any other mythical creatures. More seriously, kid you need to grow up. Elves do not exist in any shape or form, they're simply for storytelling purposes, and if you can't accept that, well you need to talk to a professional and quick.
 15. Interesting, most interesting.
Pfft, stop complaining over there! In Europe, almost all new games cost 59,99 euros, which in dollars is something like 76,50$. ;P The prices have been like that for years, and they include games from all consoles except PC (which are like ten euros cheaper). What's worse, Sony has decided to convert the price of PS3 to euros with the most simple formula: the console will cost 499,99 ? - 599,99 ? here, which in dollars would be about 640,00 $ - 765,00 $. Talking about currency values... XP I mean, would you pay that much for a console?
I was just about to bring that up, I was in Dublin a few days ago and the new Xbox 360 games are retailing at ?69.99, which is in or around $84.50. I realise that Sony can basically charge people whatever they like for these games, and really as a gaming PC owner I can't really say that ?500-?600 is excessive for a machine when I paid ?1669 for mine, especially when a lot of what I can do with my XPS is available for G4 consoles. I still feel that they're taking advantage of people with this kind of pricing, but there's really nothing anyone can do, people will inevitably buy the games and pay full price.

 22. Interesting, most interesting. Well first off I'd like to thank Papa Smurf for posting the other portions of this so-called racist advertisement, as it clearly demonstrates that this simply is nothing more than an edgier "white is the new black" comment. I mean seriously here people, are Sony going to go out of their way to have people thinking they're racist ? Maybe I'm wrong here but as far as I'm aware the vast majority of their customers are not white supremacists. Had the roles been reversed, and the new PSP was black and holding the original white PSP in a threatening posture, I wonder would the same levels of outcry have occurred ? I'm as against racism as the next person, and believe me with my brother I get enough of that crap to last lifetimes, but that's not racist people, that's just a clever ad created to cause people to think it's racist and there by raise awareness of the brand. 25. Goron Mechanic Name: Darogan Gender: Male Age: 148 [Given the Goron lifespan, the Hylian equivalent would be in or around 50] Race: Goron Appearance: Darogan, although with less clothing than usual. Given the Goron?s industrialisation, many of the race, Darogan included have taken to wearing clothing or some variant or another, for many smiths, inventors and miners, this was for protection, and this remains the case for Darogan. Given his talent at working metals, Darogan has fashioned himself a suit of protective armour, similar to what?s seen here Personality: Darogan?s personality depends very much upon when you meet him, this isn?t to say he suffer from multiple personality syndrome, rather his personality is dictated by the level of work he has on his plate at that moment in time. Should he be relatively work free, as he has never actually been ?work free?, the Goron mechanic is pleasant, loquacious and will more often than not, try to impart some of his vast wisdom onto to the youngsters in his presence. However, should Darogan be swamped with work and someone should have the misfortune of interrupting him, then may the goddesses protect him/her. Goron?s are known for their exceptional heat tolerance, perhaps this was not only to protect them from the heat of the lava running beneath their home, but also to protect them from particularly furious Gorons like Darogan. Abilities/Items: Hookshot: Given his acknowledged dislike for magic, and anything really that pertains to the so-called ?goddesses?, Darogan has always relied on his vast technical aptitude and the results of that aptitude. The most important of these is most certainly the mechanical gauntlet he wears over his right hand and lower forearm, while looking unnecessary to most people, given the Gorons' own latent toughness, it's contains several useful inventions, as well as a number of everyday tools which he finds himself in constant need of. Either way, by far the most useful device housed within his gauntlet is a compressed-air propelled hookshot, capable of carrying the large Goron across considerable distances. Weaponry: Mini-bomb launcher: Although not a weaponsmith, Darogan has fashioned methods of protection from harm at the hands of Hyrule's often dangerous flora and fauna, working with his apprentice, Darogan managed to reduce the explosive bomb flower to a powder form. Taking this highly volatile concentrate, Darogan sealed them inside copper and steel casings creating highly explosive "mini-bombs", in order to gain full advantage from this new weapon, Darogan fashioned a launcher capable of propelling the mini-bombs at opponents over great distances. Background: Darogan has been around a long time, there?s no point for him to try and deny it because he was born before the Goron reawakening to technology. Although only a young man at the time, barely sixteen years of age, Darogan can clearly recall what the Gorons were like before their technical revolution, and he shudders at the thought, it?s not that he didn?t enjoy eating very tasty rocks and dancing as Gorons do, it?s just that it all seemed a little simple for him. The fact that he was of noble birth was even worse, because it meant he had to involve himself in all that, because more than anything e wanted to slip off to Hyrule Castle Town and see the new inventions being busily created there. That all changed however when a strange ore was discovered in Dodongo?s Cave, stronger than any material the Goron?s had ever encountered yet relatively easily worked into the shape of required tools, Darogan quickly saw that change was coming to the Goron nation. Although barely an adult, he championed the use of this metal and established one of the first ore-smelters and forges in the Goron City, soon other Gorons saw the value of this metal and in only a handful of years the technological renaissance of the Goron had come into full force. Dozens of young Gorons became engineers, smiths and inventors and one of the first things to be cast off in the reawakening was the archaic religion of thee goddesses. Within fifteen years, the Gorons had transformed from simple rock-eaters to the most technologically advanced race in Hyrule. This change came with some drawbacks however, as the Zora under a feigned banner of environmental protection closed off their borders to the Gorons, it is generally accepted among the Goron however that real reason behind the move was that Zora?s feared the obvious superiority of technology, something which has driven them ever more into the arms of magic. The Hylians in response attempted to mediate between the two groups, but in the end neither race was interested in further communication, Darogan, being the chief Goron mechanist at the time was the one present for Goron negotiations. Instead the accord was struck that while the Gorons would continue along the path of machines, the Hylians would attempt to further refine the technologies developed as to prevent ecological disasters from taking place. Over the next century the land of Hyrule was transformed by the hand of industry, Hyrule Castle Town and the Goron City became bustling centres of commerce and invention, Death Mountain became a giant metal foundry, worked by hundreds of Gorons night and day drawing valuable ore from the molten streams for use in the forges and workshops. Goron City while once marked only by a trail of rocks, can now easily be distinguished from far off by the continuous steam clouds puffing gently from the city?s chimneys. For one hundred years, Darogan was at the forefront of everything technological, working with other inventors and engineers on new enhancements for the city and it?s people. He was also known for leaving unexpectedly to go visit Hyrule Castle Town and the Hylian inventors there, to see what refinements they had made to Goron technology which could be brought back and incorporated into the next batch. In more recent times however, Darogan has allowed younger inventors to rise to prominence, preferring to occasionally mentor youths who would seek his guidance. Three years ago, while visiting Hyrule again for the first time in nearly a decade, Darogan became aware of a youngster following him, although surprised that the young man would not simply introduce himself, he asked the boy his name. The Hylian replied that his name was Tallus, patting young Tallus on the head, Darogan gave him his wrench and left. While at the time, Darogan had no intention to train Tallus, as up until then he had only instructed Gorons, the incident stuck in his mind. A year later, when Darogan returned to Hyrule on some routine business he sought out the youth to see what had become of him, Tallus presented him with an invention of his own, although it did not work, it was original and showed promise, as did the boy. Darogan told Tallus to pack up his things and asked his parents if the boy might be allowed apprentice under him, astonished that a renowned inventor like Darogan would seek to teach their son, they quickly agreed and the pair returned to Goron City, since then life has been pretty routine, aside from the odd explosion. Character Snippet: ?Tallus ? Tallus ?! TALLUS ?!!? Darogan sighed, considerably annoyed. ?Where is that boy ?? The question was directed at himself more so than his apprentice, the Hylian youth was barely a tenth of Darogan?s own age and yet he had proved quite apt in his tutelage, however the boy had a vexing tendency to disappear when his master needed him the most. Removing a hammer from the tool rack to his left, Darogan began pounding away at the piece of ore on the anvil in front of him, gradually it took shape, as flakes of metal were broken off by the hammer. Using the tongs already left next to the anvil, he transferred the shaped metal into a vat of water to cool, a jet of steam shot up, clouding Darogan?s view for a moment, when it cleared, Tallus was standing in the doorway in his night clothes, attempting but failing to stifle a yawn. ?Yes master ?? Darogan furrowed his brow. ?Tallus, what are you doing in your bed clothes ?? The boy yawned again, looking surprised. ?Well master, it?s 3 AM, and you sent me to get some sleep nearly five hours ago.? Scrunching his face, Darogan sighed, his apprentice was right, and this was the third time in a fortnight he?d woken him up in the middle of the night calling for him. He needed to build himself a clock in the workshop so he could keep better track of time, having worked at the same pace for nearly a century and a half, Darogan required relatively little sleep, a few hours every other day was enough, but Tallus needed his rest to keep his mind fresh. ?Sorry, go back to sleep. Take another hour in the morning, I?ll wait.? Tallus stood still, biting back a question, Darogan had known him long enough now to know his reactions. ?You have a question ?? The boy stared at his feet for a moment before responding. ?Perhaps master you should think about getting some sleep, you?ve not gotten any in nearly a week and you?re starting to look tired.? Darogan smiled, his apprentice was very observant, and very correct, Darogan hadn?t slept in six days and it was beginning to show. Tallus still stood there, his skills improved every week, eventually he?d become a very great inventor, maybe even better than his master. Darogan looked forward to that day, he was starting to get old and he needed to know that someone would be able to continue after him. ?You?re right Tallus, I do need some sleep. Tell you what, we?ll take tomorrow off and go for a drive somewhere.? His apprentice?s face lit up, Tallus? greatest aptitude lay in motors and he was particularly fascinated by the steam powered carriage that Darogan kept tinkering on, it wasn?t that such carriages were uncommon, it was just his master?s one was probably the fastest there was. ?I?d like that master, perhaps we could go to Hyrule Castle Town and I could see my parents.? Darogan smiled. ?Of course, now go to bed, I?ll stay here for a few minutes to clean up the workshop.?
