1. Interesting, most interesting. I've kept the same routine of visiting OB on a nightly basis for an hour or two for the last three or so years, since I've started using Firefox however and can't view my Temporary Internet files, I'm probably not on as long as I used to be as generally I can load and reply to threads faster than I used to. So yeah now it's probably about an hour a night and I can get the same volume of work done than I used to in an hour and a half / two hours.
  2.
I'd be Extreme Otaku or No Life now with my post count :( I wish we still had member titles based upon the immensely important factor of our total number of posts. Bring it back!
Heh, as much as I would like to disagree with you Josh on the grounds it would only prompt people to spam to achieve high post counts, the idea of having the much coveted Extreme Otaku title is too tempting to pass up. Couldn't we just give the old titles to all the Oldies and leave the newer members with their new titles ?
  3.
Well I'm watching Something's Gotta give so I have to say the pelvis. Even tho I have no idea what Snu-snu is. Is that Irish slang?[/color']
You mustn't watch Futurama that often Chibi because that's where that classic term for intercourse was coined by the gigantic women of Planet Amazonia. Given that they are in fact giant, snu-snu would result in death by broken pelvis after a somewhat short night of passion.
Would you rather Have aim or msn? 4.
I've seen many of these threads over the time I've been on the boards, and I'm curious. How would someone qualify to be in one of these things? I've thought of many theories to this, but would someone please clarify this for me? I would really appreciate it. -Matt
If you're talking about joining RPGs Matt, then the easiest way is to mosey on over to the Adventure Inn and apply into one there that takes your fancy. If you're talking about applying into the Legionnaires, well I can't speak for Josh, but I'm fairly sure he's not taking any new sign ups, so unfortunately you probably won't be able to join. Hope that answered you question, and I look forward to seeing you in the Inn.

Immortals: The New Dawn In a past now long forgotten, the world was once ruled from a single city, a city of such great magnitude that it spanned the entire continent on which it stood so proudly. Atlantis, a beacon for humanity in it's early darkness, the kingdom of the Immortal Emperor and his Divine Lords, for the great city was but the great jewel in the crown of an empire, an realm that stretched the entire world, over mountains, across seas from the vast Serengeti of Africa to the to the fresh pastures of Europe, to the wide grasslands of the Americas. Atlantean man?s savage cousins were ruled over by the Emperor?s most trusted, the Divine Lords, they spoke for him in all matters and educated these savages in the ways of science, culture and peace, their territories reached far from the great lights of Atlantis, for anywhere that these wondrous lights graced was said to be part of the city and thus subject to the Emperor himself. For thousands of years savage man was made civilised, the great Empire grew and the secret of immortality known only to the Immortal Emperor and his Divine Lords remained a mystery, but soon strife was to strike at the heart of the Empire in a way that could not have been imagined. The Emperor was a beloved ruler of all man, gentle, benevolent and wise, his wish was to spread the glory of Atlantis to all corners of the globe, to make Man master of all his surveyed, to give him the gift of ever-lasting life when he was ready for it. But frustration built among the Divine Lords, some such as the Lord of Clouds who?s lands lay in the meadows of Europe recalled the great battles long before the rebuilding of Atlantis and lusted for the power that had been granted to their heroic general after the battle had been won. With him the Lord of Clouds took council with his two most loyal allies, the Master Smith and the great Lord of War and planned his revolt against the Emperor. For immortality was not without it?s price, for tens of thousands of years the Divine Lords had enjoyed their lives unending but could never again know the joys of children, in this they envied savage man and Atlantean alike, who despite living but a handful of rotations about Sol knew more joy in those years than any Divine Lord had know in a millennia. It was said that the Emperor the last being with the memory of how to grant immortality could also reverse it, it was this knowledge that the Lord of Clouds hungered for, to be able to live just one normal life and die as his father had done. But the Immortal Emperor who saw further than any man, Divine Lord or savage saw through the falsehood presented to him by the Lord of Clouds and his allies and before their plan to assassinate him could come to fruition struck first and with a terrible fury. None had seen the Emperor go to battle in an age of the world, since before he had taken on the mantel of Lord of the Earth, against these traitors the Emperor took his still loyal Divine Lords and marched out to war. Though both the Divine Lords and the Emperor would live forever, death's reach was not wholly from them, in battle an Immortal could be killed if his head was separated from his body with a bladed weapon. This knowledge was known to any who had gained endless life, but tradition stipulated that the combat be a ritualised duel and that holy ground of any kind could not be fought upon. The two colossal armies met and the battle would be a terrible combat that would thankfully be forgotten to the world, the armies of savage mortal man fought his Atlantean brother and they fell in the millions, Divine Lord stood against Divine Lord in combat and brother and sister fell to the feet of one another they had known for countless centuries. Finally the Immortal Emperor took battle to the Lord of Clouds himself, the Sovereign?s great sword was said to be forged of the Earth itself. Their duel lasted days and thousands died around them, the seas rose and mountains fell, the Earth itself groaned in grief until at last with the first rays of dawn on the sixth day, the Emperor slew his enemy and a mighty cheer rose up for savage man and Atlantean alike. But all was lost, the Divine Lords were broken, none had survived the battle save the Emperor and the great city of Atlantis had fell to ruins in the Earth?s grief. To preserve the world the Emperor took the spirits of the fallen into himself, he cursed those who had rebelled for their folly and begged forgiveness from those who had died in his service. To all he made this solemn oath: ?We the Immortals of the Earth shall live again, but have no memories of past deeds and glories. Atlantis built upon our blood and sacrifice shall lie in ruins, and the splendour of Man shall not reach this height again for an aeon of the Earth. We shall be born to mortal parents and live as one of them until cast out through fear for our gift. We shall be banished, dishonoured and never able to look upon the faces of those we loved first again for this shall be our repentance for our pride and sins. We shall wander the Earth as teachers, scholars, men of standing but always in the shadows, and only through pursuit of the Prize may we have what all have craved since endless life become intolerable, we shall have a single mortal life, know love and have descendants to carry on our new names and new glories. You shall walk upon the Earth in different eras, some of you may be born again a thousand years apart but you shall all be born again, and until only one remains the Prize shall remain elusive, for there can be only One.? His oath made, the Immortal Emperor took his great blade and hewed himself in one graceful movement, the Earth rumbled and the sky darkened, volcanoes erupted in anger and the oceans welled in sadness, the Earth was remade and civilised man became savage again. The spirits of the Immortal Emperor and his Divine Lords resided in the afterlife waiting one by one to be resurrected in order to pursue the Prize, as per his word they awoke again in different ages to one another, but all sought their mortality and awaited the final dawn... |Underground| Well here in The Quickening you can feel free to post any suggestions, comments of questions you may have after reading the storyline in the Inn for this RPG. If you're considering joining, and I hope you are then as I said if you have any questions feel free to post them here and I'll reply back as soon as I can. As I said this RPG is based around a reimagined Highlander concept and if you are able, as you read the words, try and hear Sean Connery's voice reading them to you, I know it sounds weird but it really does work quite well. The actual content while an M rating will be so only because of violence and the fact I felt a PG rating wouldn't suffice, had I the option I'd have preferred to go with something more mild but c'est la vie. As you might guess this will ignore all other Highlander material, whether TV or movie based, if you wish to sign up as the Lord of Clouds, aka Connor McLeod as he would become then feel free but know there can be only one, and it might not be you.

The spirits of the Immortal Emperor and his Divine Lords resided in the afterlife waiting one by one to be resurrected in order to pursue the Prize, as per his word they awoke again in different ages to one another, but all sought their mortality and awaited the final dawn... |Prologue| Well well, that turned out considerably better than I had laid it out in my head. As you might have guessed this is a reimagined version of the Highlander concept in which people will play the reborn versions of the Divine Lords from Atlantis. I?ve purposely obscured how they became immortal save for the mention of a previous battle that destroyed Atlantis the first time around and led the heroic general to become Immortal Emperor and set those allies of his to become the Divine Lords. In the sign up I would ask people to avoid talking about their lives before becoming a Divine Lord as I would like to save that for a potential prequel. Now I realise that since people are going to be born potentially millennia before one another that there?s going to be difficulty in deciding exactly who shall be the One, which is why the RPG is going to be set across several different eras through chapters, yes this will be my first chapter RPG though I swore once I?d never do so. It?s only fair really as those playing in the modern and potentially early future era will obviously have either been born after or survived those born in earlier times. There will be also different stories to contend with in different chapters, after all we can?t have everyone fighting to be the One in every chapter or else it?d be a real short endeavour. I?ve got a few ideas so I don?t want to give them away just yet, however I think people will enjoy them when they?re revealed. Alright moving onto the sign up. |Sign Up| This is where it will get interesting, as I?m not going to use the traditional sign up fields, as simply they either don?t cover what information I?ll be asking from you, or in the case of say Age, will be completely irrelevant . Instead, I?m going to ask you to submit a character post from two points in your life, one from just before the final battle described in the above story, and one from your character?s realisation they?re immortal and what it means to them. The second can be set during any era, however I would ask that if you see one from the decade you?re planning to write that you reconsider as I?d hate to have the whole thing set in the 2000s. If possible I?d like to get a good run over people over the entire spectrum of time. I?ll address any questions through the Underground thread, please use it as opposed to PMing me as I?ll be able to answer the same question once instead of three times to different people.

Interesting, most interesting. Name: Neil Edward Gratzner Age: 21 Gender: Male Appearance: Neil Trainer ID Number: 23507 Personality: I always remember my dad in the mines, though I never really got why when I was younger, I mean my grandfather had owned Gratzner Mining for well over a decade before my dad was even born, so getting his hands dirty in the company wasn?t exactly something that I understood. He told me one day ?Neil, learn the company from the ground up, or down in our case, and you?ll always know where you belong in it. This?ll be yours one day, and you?ll be the one responsible for making sure that not only does the company make money, but that?s it?s a good company that people are proud to work for and when they?re proud to work for you, then you can be proud that they are working for you. It?s simple Neil, any man who takes pride in his job, like I do, like your granddad did, like every man and woman who works down in our mines does, then they?ll always give 110% and go home happy when they?re finished.? I just smiled back at him, completely oblivious to that gem of knowledge he?d tried to impart, it?d take years and unfortunately he wouldn?t be around when it fully sunk in but it was advice to live by and I just hope I can be proud in my new undertaking. It?s funny you know, if you were to bump into me in the street, I wonder what would go through your mind ? Would you think this is a normal looking young man on his way to work ? Or would you think something else ? I doubt many people would realise that they?d bumped into one of the wealthiest men on the whole continent, but then again that?s exactly the look I?ve tried to build up over the last few years, I was never exposed to social breeding and all that other ?old-money? crap and I can only be very thankful for it, it?s kept me normal and dare I say average, I belch, I joke around and I like to enjoy the little things in life for what they are. When I?m put under pressure however I tend to change, become a bit more aloof, more serious, the drawbacks of never really having a childhood I suppose, with the snap of your fingers you need to be able to go from miner to CEO and those are two different personalities I?ve had to incorporate into my ever day life. I?ve never really been able to blend them properly, when I?m down in the shafts covered in dust I guess I?m the joker, always cracking wise and making sure there?s a bit of fun to be had, but put some suit in front of me talking about mergers and hostile takeovers and the shark inside comes out, cold, calculating and utterly ruthless when it comes to protecting my own. I?m a man of many facets I guess, a man who?s complex and yet simple trying to live a simple and yet complex life. Personal History: Neil Gratzner is the only son of deceased mining industry super-giant Edward Gratzner, and head of the multi-billion dollar Gratzner Mining corporation responsible for nearly 80% of all Belrie?s industrial ore mining and processing needs. His grandfather Neil Snr. founded the company over sixty years ago and through a mixture of ruthless business manoeuvring and benevolent managerial strategy had cornered the market within a decade of GMCs creation, Neil married late in life producing only one son, Edward, who would take over the company at the age of only thirty after his father suffered a severe heart attack and was unable to continue as Chief Executive Officer of the company. Neil?s grandfather would pass away the following year, eighteen months before Neil himself was born. Edward married soon after his father?s death, his wife Helen was a kind woman although her being from a wealthy family often brought her into contention with Neil?s father over issues of money-making at the expense of the worker, often she accused Edward of thinking like an employee rather than the employer. Neil was born early into the relationship and served as an anchor for the pair as he was something they could almost always agree courses of action on. Growing up, Neil agreed with much of his mother?s way of business thinking, much to his father?s great dismay whom he spent most of his time with. A bright boy, his studies progressed quickly, although he was not a genius by any stretch of the imagination, he would spent hours staring at the television watching Pokémon battles but never mentioned it to his parents who were either concerned about the company or social galas. Neil?s father forbade his mother from involving the boy in the social scene, saying he deserved to live a normal life out of the spotlight, the one privilege his wealth might bring him. As Neil grew older, his interest in the company waxed and at his father?s suggestion he began to work for several hours a week in the mine, being only twelve he couldn?t do any of the manual work but that didn?t stop him from finding ways to be useful, either helping with kit or just getting tea during the breaks. He was well-liked by the miners as a nice young fellow who had a lot of his father and grandfather in him. Life continued like this for several years, unfortunately at the age of only 47 Neil?s father was struck down by a heart attack as he worked in one of the newly drilled shafts, at his eulogy it was said that he died doing what he loved and not many would be lucky to die as well. Neil was barely sixteen at the time and was now forced with his mother to take over the running of GMC, the words echoed to him by his father would serve him well as CEO and under his reign GMC not only increased it?s share in the ore market but say it?s stocks and thus profitability rise to new heights. After five years of running the company, Neil has turned over control to his mother, years of being unable to properly experience the world outside of GMC have left him with a need to get out and explore Belrie properly. To this end and perhaps to sate a childhood desire, he has decided to become a Pokémon trainer. Equipment: The usual trainer gear, Pokéballs of several varieties, medical supplies, high quality camping equipment, changes of clothes, and victuals and water for both Human and Pokémon. Preferred Starter Choice: Squirtle Several specially trained Blastoise?s were used for sensitive drilling in GMC, as such Neil developed a good report with the Pokémon and grew to understand their particular quirks and foibles. Now becoming a trainer, he would like to have some memento of those days by getting a Squirtle to train, that and perhaps Squirtle is not too far away in personality to Neil himself.
  8.
Flashlight.. Battries run longer then fire and fire can be put out anytime anywhere so it's safer to stick with the flashlight.. That's just my opinion. Question: To be killed by the devil or To be killed by the angel?
Killed by the Devil definitely, being killed by an Angel would be the end result of some form of Heavenly retribution, which I personally would not want to be on the receiving end of. Would you rather suffer a heart attack after a night of passion ? Or Would you rather suffer a broken pelvis after a night of snu-snu ? God bless Zapp Brannigan.
  9. Interesting, most interesting. Heh I remember the kill-or-be-killed attitude to posting back before the newer member titles, I suppose most of us from back then did a little bit of scrambling up the ladder to try and get away from the first two ghastly titles of Newbie and Junior Member. Getting to the top requires cut-throat ruthlessness, an ability to punish without hesitation and treat people with complete disregard to human compassion, that and have something cool and totally unique about you, or in Des' case to very nearly take on the identity of a Nintendo character...
  10. Interesting, most interesting. It occurs to me that I repeat my trademark phrase so frequently that it may actually lose it sense of what is interesting, however in this case it is definitely warranted. I must admit although an Oldie this RP goes back even before my time as I recall or at least I don't recall it appearing in the Arena. However regardless of how old the concept is, James I must say I am quite entranced by the story behind it and will definitely sign up when you deem fit to release it in the Inn.
  11. Heh, thanks for the kind words guys but really I'm just doing my job, the article itself doesn't do justice to the Adventure Square and Inn as there's just too much going on to fit into one article. Just out of curiosity Nomura, did you want me to cover the Underground and the Anthology too, or just leave it at the Square and Inn ?
would you give money to the poor 1) to help themselves? 2) because you have been taught to?
Personally I'd much rather give money to the poor because I felt they could use it to help themselves rather than giving it to them because I'd been taught to do so. Being charitable should be something natural that comes from within, if you're giving money just because you've been taught it's the right thing to do, then you're not truly being charitable. Would you rather look at the Earth from space ? Or Would you rather look at the Milky War from space ? Just watched a space documentary and it seemed appropriate.
  22. Indeed you are correct Ziggy, that was Animal Crackers, which I will agree with you was a Marx Brothers and film classic. Your turn my good sir.
  23. Alright seeing as I have a bit of time to spare, I thought I might launch this little game for the MMTV forum. Basically it's very similar to GabrielZero's "Name that movie from the screenshot" thread except instead of posting movie shots, which can often by identified by simply looking at the address, we use famous movie quotes instead. The same rules apply, I'll start off by posting a movie quote and when someone identifies the movie it comes from, provided they're right, then they post the next quote, and so on. Alright so for the first quote:
"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know."
One last thing, even if you're a hundred percent certain of the movie the quote is taken from, please allow the person who posted the quote to reply as to whether or not you're correct, it's only good manners.
  24.
It does require a certain sense of humor and because of that, isn't suited for everyone but I know I found it funny.[/color']
Exactly, on the DVD case I believe it says something alone the lines of "Not suitable for kids, or big babies."
  25. Interesting, most interesting. Given that Happy Tree Friends is also available on DVD format, this thread would more accurately belong to the Music, Movies and TV section of the boards. Anyway my own thoughts of Happy Tree Friends is that it takes the content of The Simpson's own Itchy & Scratchy and through some odd method which I don't fully understand at the moment, makes it absolutely hilarious. My cousin has the first twelve episodes on DVD and having watched them more than a few times I recommend them to anyone with a slightly odd sense of humour, the funniest of all the characters there-in for me must be Nutty the Squirrel simply because he reminds me of someone I once knew.
