Interesting, most interesting. Personally I preferred the original over Evolution, as it not only had a tighter and more convincing storyline but also actually kept you interested in the movie itself.
In Evolution you knew from the moment you learned William had been locked away that he was going to be freed eventually, that was simply a given,
so you might as well have fell asleep for half and hour and not missed anything important. I did enjoy the brief showing of events
back in the thirteen century, it gave an idea of exactly how the Vampires acted back then although it did raise the question as to exactly how Markus knew his turning Viktor would not simply result in his death. After all Selene said in the original that most people bitten by an immortal died within hours, of course given Markus is the pregenitor of the Vampire race it does make sense his bite would be less fatal. It also makes you wonder how exactly the "sons of Corvinus" went from being the children of a Hungarian warlord to Markus being a servant of Viktor.
The movie also raised the question of
how exactly Lycans went from being mindless destructive like William to retaining their sanity and being able to focus their anger like Lucian. It may even be possible to assume that Lucian could be the progeniter of the current breed of Lycan. Of course that's simply speculation but it does seem the most logical line of thought. As well as this you're left asking exactly what changes have been made to Selene after recieving some of Alexander's blood.
Still I suppose all shall be revealed in Underworld 3. Overall I must admit I thought a great deal less of the sequel, it just seemed to stray very far from the original roots of Underworld, taking a more fantasy route when the original had tried to introduce a sense of reality to the proceedings. Most of the acting was sub-par with the exception Steven Mackintosh as Andreas Tanis whom I thought played his role rather spendidly.

I won ? Personally I thought the Poseidon joke wasn't all that great. Perhaps a bit easy, but the best I could do under the circumstances.

Interesting, most interesting. As an Irish person, I must say I find the concept that the deaths of one million people could have been avoided had they simply had the intelligence to fish and thus save themselves from a slow, painful death, quite offensive. Rather dredge up the nationalistic side of myself in some tirade against a now dead Imperial Britain, I'll just provide the link to Wikipeda here, and let people make up their own minds on the issue. Thanks for the info Saya, though as I haven't access to either broadband or a new enough PC at my cousins', I'll have to try and find a gaming net cafe before I can join you all in the land of Tyria. I'll probably start out as a Ranger as I've been reading Lord of the Rings again lately and it's getting me in that kind of mood. Once Factions is released however I reckon I might try out a Prince of Persia styled Assassin.

My first OtakuBoards post from Tasmania, the first of many I should hope. Anyway my safe travels aside, Red Team have reached the half way point in our second st of post, Circeus and Ezekiel are up nxt with the mission wrap up post to hopefully follow soon after. Kitty and Raiha's posts have been great, really taking in the spirit of the mission brief, though I must admit Saturn's rather gruesome actions at the end of her fight left me with the distinct impression never to mess with her. Great new chapter Trevor, for a moment I had an awful feeling that I might be the villain, either that or DW, there's something about being called Gavin on this site that has you type-cast as being evil. Although personally I prefer my label of being OBs' resident fan-fic mad scientist... Interesting, most interesting. As has been spelled out by the general consensus, different people have different "turn ons" for the lack of a better word and I suppose if he should air subtle hints about that in his movies then that's his prerogative. And as Mike said, there genuinely are people out there with much, much more bizarre fetishes, balloons anyone...

On this same note of the depiction of Mohammad, I came across a rather interesting article on one of the Sunday newspapers. I'll quote the article, though it's small enough, and let people make up their own minds.
Images of the Prophet Mohammad are on display at Dublin's Chester Beatty Library. Depictions of the Prophet are considered blasphemous by most Muslims, and the library has had a few complaints. However, Director Michael Ryan said that the images are "historical documents" and are displayed discreetly. Across the world Muslims are protesting at newspaper cartoons of the Prophet, one of which shows his turban as a bomb. Muslims in Ireland have said they are "extremely offended" by the cartoons. The Chester Beatty Library shows several miniatures of the Prophet, many in manuscripts by Sufi Muslims from the Persian Empire. Mr Ryan said: "Some have voiced concern about the texts. But we regard them as historical documents, though when they are on display we don't shout about it. We try to be discreet." The Imam of the Islamic Foundation of Ireland, Sheikh Yayha Al Hussein, said he had written to the library a few years ago to tell them "it was wrong" to display the images. He said: "Generally these are images done a long time ago by other Muslims. "We don't want to protest to the Irish museum about it now, but they wouldn?t be shown in a Muslim country."
Personally I'm not sure exactly what the problem is here, on the one hand I can accept that iconism is not allowed by the Qur'an and as such in countries with a high Muslim population these images would not be available for a library to display. However on the other hand if we look strictly at the facts, these images are on display in a country where the vast majority of the population are Catholic, and thus the idea that it is wrong to display them because they are controversial to another religion could be debated, as perhaps a Muslim calling Christ merely a Prophet is Ireland could be described as controversial. The images are not depicting Mohammad in any vulgar or insulting form and thus mightn't be described as being genuinely offensive to Muslims. As well as that they are historical documents, documenting a period of time in the Middle East which many scholars would find fascinating and the opportunity to view work created in that period should be available for anyone of any denomination to view. I accept that some devout Muslims would have issue with them, but I don't understand why they would ask for them to be removed in a country where the vast majority of people do not accept Mohammad as anything other than a man. While I can empathise with their religious beliefs, those same beliefs should not be forced on the majority of people. Opinions ?

Interesting, most interesting.
[IMG]http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/277/dumb3wh.gif[/IMG']
That really does sum things up as well as they can be summed up. In terms of innovation, I think the main problems is that many smaller third party developers simply can't afford to risk money on innovative games, as they run the risk that they'll flop and take out the whole company with them. It's simply easier to copy the innovations of other larger developers and implement/copy them, take "bullet time" for instance, easily the most copied function of recent videogaming. Really it's only very successful companies like Nintendo who can afford to get really innovative with their stuff, because should worst come to worst they can afford a few flops in the name of development. Simply said the burden of innovation shouldn't fall on smaller developers, but large gaming corporations who have the funding to be able to make a few bad decisions in the name of innovation.

Interesting, most interesting. A very odd poem to be sure Gav, and I genuinely don't know whether or not any of my previous girlfriends would find it romantic. Still humour to be sure, and there surely are some women somewhere that would find you to be a bard of such romantic quality that they should swoon in your very presence.

Thanks for the help Des, it's really a bit weight off my mind as I honestly had no idea how the system worked. Here's hoping I'll be a fully-fledged member of the QKT by Saturday. On that note, does anyone have any built recommendations for a first character, or is it really just whatever you think suits yourself ?

I know I've been talking about getting Guild Wars for quite some time, at least to those of you who I speak to fairly regularly on AIM. Well today I actually went out and bought the Special Edition from Virgin Megastore, and a few hours later while travelling home I realised I may have inadvertently wasted quite a bit of money by buying it. Rambling aside, seeing as NCSoft don't appear to have covered the question and I can't seem to find and email address for their support section, the official OB thread seemed the next logical place to get troubleshooting help. Is it possible to install Guild Wars on one computer, and then after an extended period of time, say two to three months, delete it and install it on another and continue playing ? I ask because when I leave for Tasmania in two days I was going to bring Guild Wars with me and play it there, then when I get home in about eight weeks install it again on my home PC, which should by then hopefully have access to broadband and continue playing. However I had read that the activation key will only work once, on only one PC, if this is the case then I might as well return the game as I'd be as well off to buy it online for quite a bit cheaper in a few weeks. Any and all help would be great appreciated.

Will the seeds of dissension between Trevor and Jamie threaten the progress of the investigation into these murders one would wonder ? I have to agree with Annie thought Jamie, the chapter did seem a little off-kilter, although they can't all revolve around the capricious killings of innocent members. I'm glad to hear the next few segments will revolve around character development as it would give people a much better idea of the kinds of relationships that exist between individual characters.
-
A fascinating addition Trevor, on the one hand you've made it seem as if the murders are the work of a single entity, and then just before the chapter end you have insinuated that possibly this person is a rogue element of another shadowy group who's mission would appear to be the extermination of all n00bs on OtakuBoards. I can't wait to read the next chapter, if it's filled with as many intriguing plot nuances as this one was.

How do you feel when it comes to the oppsite or same sex
Gavin replied to a topic in General Discussion
Interesting, most interesting. This is the first time I'd ever heard about a girl hitting a guy to let him know she may be interested in him, stuff like that only happened back when I was in early primary school. As for picking up on a girl's signals, generally I've been the one to do the asking out so there weren't a whole bunch of signals to pick up on, but the most obvious ones I've come across is when they smile at you, I know it doesn't take a genius to notice that one but it's the most common one I've come across. Interesting, most interesting. Seeing as I'm to take on the role of Boromir for this RPG Bill, I was wondering exactly how he'd fit in to the later segments of the story that proceed after his death ? That is if I'm allowed have him survive his Uruk encounter on Amon Hen. I know the question seems a bit vague, as though I'm asking you how you think Boromir would have affected the flow of events had he not met his end, and I suppose all things considered that's exactly what I'm asking although I hadn't intended it to be that vague. Obviously he'd have been part of the Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas group that eventually arrives on Rohan, but would he take away from Aragorn's dealings with Theoden and just fall back into a supporting line like Gimli and Legolas ? I know we're ages away from that point but better to clear it up now than having to do it then.

Writing The Bikini Bandits Strike Back! [M-L, likely sexual innuendos]
