1.
You don't pay much attention, do you? :p
Not when I can help it Josh, though in alll honesty this is the very first I've heard of the MyOtaku Premium seeing as how I don't visit MyO nearly as much as I used to. The one thing I'd be concerned about is that if it is indeed a major project, those of us with horrendously slow internet connections may be unable to enjoy all the aspects of MyO Premium when it's launched.
 2. Interesting, most interesting. I think honestly if I were a character in a fighting game I'd wonder why I couldn't control my body and why I'm consistently having to fight other people for very little reason. Seeing as how I normally play as fighters that are slow but very powerful once you get them going, such as Tekken's Paul Phoenix, that'd probably be the way I'd go seeing as how I have an immense dislike for those quick fighters who you just can't get in close enough to give them a good beating. I'm not sure what martial arts I'd need in such a case though I'd say some form of Karate would be suitable. I know it?s going to sound a little basic, but with a heavy fisted fighter, in terms of tactics all you want to do is black/absorb enough attacks to get your enemy in close and give him a good working over thanks to your superior strength. In terms of a character who'd use a weapon, well I?ve never trained to use a weapon nor even had the desire to do so, so I?m not at all sure what kind of character I?d be, though having played and beaten multiple Star Wars games I must admit I?d be very inclined to use a lightsaber if possible. Now I?m not saying that because the lightsaber is exceptionally deadly as a weapon due to it?s cutting power and speed, but it is a very graceful and yet powerful weapon when used. Being knowledgeable on the different forms of lightsaber combat, I?d be tempted to use either the Makashi or Soresu forms, Makashi because of the elegant power it exudes and Soresu because it?s defensive power and the philosophy behind it. In terms of tactics the hyperlinks give the tactics required for both styles when used in combat.
 3. Interesting, most interesting. Not to be offensive my dear, but who are you to call my beliefs "crap" just because you don't agree with them ? It seems to me from the statement at the end of your post in large red letters that you are more interested in getting rid of the Christian club because you don't like it, as opposed to the fact that the school won't allow you to start a Satanist or Wiccan group and so you want to use the "all or nothing" approach. Now I know you're not interested in anyone's opinion, rather you just want to know how to get rid of this group with minimal effort because you have some kind of grudge against their ?convert-happy, hypocritical? beliefs but just for a moment think of the people who actually attend that group because they do find it to be spiritually fulfilling. How saddened, or irritated do you think they?ll be with you because you shut it down because you had a problem with their group, as opposed to you just dealing with your problem like a normal person ?
 4. Interesting, most interesting. I'm fortunate in the fact I've never had to make many emotional decisions, but the worst I've ever had to make haunted me for an awful long time, and still does make me feel glum even to this day. The decision was simple, and perhaps not entirely mine to make, but basically it involved me leaving the nursing home where my granduncle Anton was staying after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer for a day or two in order to get unpacked from holidays and get the house in order. Now I hadn't wanted to go abroad in the first place but that wasn't my decision to make. Anyway I went home for the two days seeing as how I'd been exhausted from the trip home and hadn't any clean clothes to wear, I didn't want to leave in case Anton died while I was away because I felt I had a lot to talk to him about before he did. It can't have been more than a day or two after I got home when the news came that he'd died and the first thing I thought was how shite I felt not to have been there when he died, I wanted to be there for him. Now as bad as I felt my mother was just going for a coffee after sitting with him for six hours when he died so I know she feels much worse. I just felt an overwhelming sense of grief that I hadn?t been there for him, the man hadn?t been expected to live a week after his diagnosis and yet he held out the two weeks we were on holiday and a further two weeks after that. I just thought that since he?d held out that long I owed it to him to be there at the end. So that?s was my most emotional decision, having to leave my dying granduncle for two days in order to get some clean clothes and get the house in order after a holiday, under the impression he?d still be alive when we got back.
 5. Interesting, most interesting. Well as I'm told frequently I perfectly fit the "Goody-Two-Shoes/Teacher's Pet" stereotype in school, seeing as most Irish schools outside the three major cities are 99.9% Caucasian I've never experience racial prejudice. I don't deny that I work hard, get good scores on corrected work, am polite and don't cause trouble, I don't see why such traits should be something to be embarrassed about or ashamed of in any way. I know I shouldn't be labelled as a Teacher's Pet in the first place, and it does irritate me to be called such, but I don't feel I shouldn't change the way I act because of it. As I said earlier in my post I've never experienced racial stereotyping, so I can't really say how Irish people are perceived in the work place or school, though seemingly from what I've heard Irish people are generally described as very hard workers. I don't know if you're right or wrong to think the remark was racially based visualkei, I'd say the only person who can answer you that question is the person who made it.
I don't necessarily hate people who get good grades. I dislike the kind who flaunt it, and use that as a tool. It's a shame, and a waste of intelligence.
Being part of the Honours group in High School I had the "pleasure" of being in class with a person who used like to flaunt his abilities and overall intelligence. In my experience most people like that suffer from insecurities and low self-esteem and use such flaunting to try and build up their confidence, either that or they're just arrogant sons-of-guns who like showing off.
 6.
Yes, when the Premium service goes live, subscribers will not see ads on any area of the network - including theOtaku, myO, OB and any future sites we produce.
I was wondering James if there'll be any other benefits to the Premium service aside from just the removal of all ads ? At the moment I only use MyOtaku and OtakuBoards so there's very little incentive for me to change over from the free version. Heck until reading the last few posts I'd never even heard anything about the Premium service, so I was wondering if you'd go into it in more detail ? Or is it just simply "pay a smidgen to see no ads" ?
 7. Interesting, most interesting. It's strange, but up until now I've never really thought about who my actual hero is, you know you have heroes for entire peoples like say John Paul II for Catholics or Michael Collins for the Irish but usually most people's own heroes are members of their own family or friends. Thinking about it, there's really only one man who deserves the title of being my personal hero, and that falls to my deceased granduncle Anton Griffin. Anton is, or rather was my mother's uncle and he played a major part in her life, taking the place of my mother's father who had split amicably or so I'm told from my grandmother when my mother was still only a little girl. He had a huge heart and was always prepared to give my mother whatever she needed when she was growing up, despite the fact that like myself he would complain before he did it. When I was growing up I never really had anyone of my own age who I could have intelligent discussions with, or talk about documentaries I'd seen or history or anything that was interesting to me. However with Anton I found I could always talk about those things, and despite the fact he could be very caustic and hurtful at times, I enjoyed his company immensely. He would phone me and tell me when interesting documentaries would be on and then we?d talk about it when we next spoke, I found him to be one of the few people I could speak to without feeling like I was talking down to them. I suppose in a nutshell he could be a grouchy, miserable and downright tactless man at times, but in the end he was a very kind and generous man with his time, his mind and money, a man who would give you ?the bit out of his mouth? to quote my grandmother. Before he died last year, he told my father that as much as he enjoyed his company, he and I were on the same wavelength, and although it doesn?t sound like much it means the world to me that he thought that.
 8. I was just wondering Hugo as to whether or not the Legion are going to have any dealings, or even possibly a mutually beneficial alliance with Team Rocket ? As indicated by the movies, those Pokémon in the service of good often team up with the protagonists in order to defeat said evil. So it would seem to make sense that in order to defeat the so-called "Good Guys", the villains may end up having to join forces even for a short time. Still it's actually far more likely we'd be planning the other's eventual destruction along with the heroes.
 9. Interesting, most interesting.
It reminds me somewhat of Zidargh's 'Plumber Bros. Inc.' Hopefully you can get your RP past the first round, heh.[/color']
That's exactly what I was thinking when I first read the title, though I must admit I do find the premise to this RPG to be intriguing. I've only seen one or two episodes of The Apprentice and both of them being the UK version of the show, still it's interesting and I'll definitely give it a shot when it starts.
 10. Interesting, most interesting. I admit I have at times found the ads on the top of MyOtaku a little annoying, but you eventually just learn to ignore it and then forget it?s even there. As James said already in his post, OtakuBoards is thankfully a haven from graphics adverts and pop-ups and the level of adverts the rest of the network has is minimal at worst, many other sites and forums I?ve visited are not so kind in their ad content. As Lore and James have already pointed out we?re getting the use of some free webspace which costs Adam and him money and all we have to put up with is one visual ad, in all honesty I think we?re getting a very, very good deal. On a side note, I don't even want to imagine what OB would be like if it was flooded with ads like certain other sites. I think the fact that OtakuBoards has no visual ads it what makes it such a pleasant place to visit as you know the creators put their members interests first.
 11. Interesting, most interesting. I?m with the general consensus on this one, following your dreams is probably the most important thing you can ever do in your life, because you dreams are your dreams and nobody ever has the right to tell you not to follow them. The fact hat you?re actually talented in the area you dream of one day working is in itself a major aide as I know plenty of people who?s dreams lay in areas they had absolutely no skill in. There are always people better than us in life, and as Doukeshi said there are people worse than us too, and those who are on the top of their chosen field suffer from an awful lot of pressure to perform, so maybe it?s best to be on of the top guys rather than the very best. Posting your work in the Art forum is also a great way to get proper analysis of your work as we have some very good artists here and they?ll give you the God?s honest truth.
 12. Interesting, most interesting. I suppose the songs that ?meant the most to me? would have to be songs that help get the old creative juices flowing when I?m writing new stories for RPGs in the Arena . I?m not a huge music fan so I don?t associate too many songs with memories or the like, that said there are a couple of them and mostly they remind of friends. As I said though music for me is primarily a kind of focussing tool to allow me to get into the mood for writing. I can?t really post the songs in any kind of order as it all depends on the mood I?m in in the first place. Thunder and Lightning by Thin Lizzy: I was watching The Lost Boys a couple of days ago when I remembered the first few lyrics to this song, I can?t explain why but I just had to listen to the song. Since then I find it to have a good and fast beat which is very helpful for certain genres of RPG which require that same kind of pace to write. Dedication by Thin Lizzy: Another Thin Lizzy song, though this one has more personal significance than being a focus aide, back a year or two ago when I was feeling really down on my luck I found this song to be very good to help lift my spirits and make me feel better. I think the background electric guitars to this song are what really give it the substance, and for RPGs this particular song is useful for when writing character battle scenes. The Boys Are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy: This one is purely nostalgic in nature, despite being a very good song in it?s own right, when I play it, it reminds me of times when myself and my friends who are off in college were together and of good times with them. I suppose due to the lyrics of the song itself, it also could remind me that I will see my friends again and that we could relive some of those old times again when we get together. Thriller by Michael Jackson: Whatever the man?s personal preferences, there?s no denying he was one hell of a performer at his best, this doesn?t really have any personal significance although once or twice it has reminded me of a friend who may very well have been a zombie most of the time. Mainly it?s just a song to listen to if I?m feeling good and just want to laugh a bit to, it also provokes some shoulder moving but we won?t go into that. Headlong by Queen: When my brother and sister gave me one of my mother?s Queen CDs for Christmas last year, my siblings and I are terrible at buying presents for one another and usually it?s just a cash exchange., I didn?t really think much of it. But the more I play these songs the more I like them and the more it reminds me of certain events, this particular song reminds me of the Junior Cert I sat three and a half years ago, the lyrics remind me of the absolute anarchy that was felt by my year going into the Junior Cert, and the massive amounts of study we had to get through. Of course all that study paled quickly in comparison to that which we had to do for Fifth Year two years afterwards. It?s Electric by Metallica: I know it?s a cover song but this is my quintessential pump song, I play this song either when I?m in a good mood to feel even better, when I?m feeling down and want to feel better, or when I?m writing an action sequence for an RPG. In terms of memories, this reminds me of a student concert we had the day the Junior Cert ended, it was a whole lot of fun, even though this actual song wasn?t played.
 13. Interesting, most interesting. As you seem to be new to the concept of forum-based RPGs Jinn I suppose the first thing I?d advise you to do is check out the Adventure Inn and the Adventure Square in order to get a good solid idea of how forum-based RPGs work as they are quite different to other RPGs. Most if not all RPGs here Jinn do not used stats or attributes in the RPG, they are solely based around the characters of those people who join them, so you?re not going to have to deal with things like HP/Hit Points or other attributes or stats. After you think you?ve got the hang of how RPGs work here, you should join a couple and get some experience in how an RPG works when you?re involved in one rather than just reading up on what other people have posted. I?m not sure I was a hundred percent clear there, but basically I was trying to say that role-playing isn?t really something you can pick up well by just watching it. And finally after you?ve got your feet wet and are willing to create your own RPG, the most important thing to remember is that most of our role-playing members, myself included, are attracted by a good story to an RPG. In all honesty if you?re not familiar with how forum-based RPGs, also called Simms on other sites work then I wouldn?t advise you try and start your own yet. If you are then there?s really not much point in me going on as you?ll already know the basics. One last tip I could give you is that if you?re having problems, speak to the Moderators in the Arena and they should be able to help get you on your feet.
 14. Interesting, most interesting. I've never had much faith in online relationships, I suppose it'd down to the fact I'm an old fashioned guy at heart and mightn't be able to stick not having the person within physical distance. I think in order to maintain an online or long-distance relationship and have it flourish, both persons involved would really, really have to the sheer willpower to have the relationship work. I mean I've been involved with a few girls in my time and cared for them very deeply, but the thought of trying to channel that same feeling when I couldn't have physical contact or even see or speak to the person would sour me to the idea of a relationship. I'll admit there are people who would be able to make such a relationship work, but all to often the lack of contact causes the relationship to weaken to a point where it is untenable for both parties involved.
I should of made it clearer...We're friends, we both attended school together. I just moved to a new state. We've been friends for a year and an half.
In all honesty Heero, the fact that you've only known her for eighteen months, now live in a different state and are five thousand miles apart aren't the greatest building blocks for a relationship. I personally think you'd be better off to remain friends who keep in touch with one another and both of you pursue relationships with people you can actually meet regularly. It is of course your decision in the end, but think for a minute if the relationship didn't work out, you could very well lose contact with you friend altogether, seeing as how you couldn't really just go over to hers and try and work it out.
 15. It's been a while since I added a few jokes, so I might as well add a few more as I'm here.
What's the difference between running over a dog and running over a lawyer ? After the dog there'll be skid marks.
A bit crap I admit.
What's the difference between a Pirate and a Politician ? A Politician doesn't need a boat.
Even though most of them have at least one.
A Rabbi, a Priest and a Minister are discussing the concept of when life begins in a park. The Catholic Priest begins the debate with a rousing speech about how life begins at conception and earns a number of affirmative nods from passers-by. Next the Minister stands up and rebukes the Priest's claiming that life begins at birth and he too receives some agreement from the growing crowd. Finally the Rabbi who has sat silently throughout the debate stands and gives his opinion on when life begins. "Life begins" he says "when your last child has moved out and taken that mangy dog with him..."
And now I leave the building...
 16.
KOTOR was a beautiful game, and probably my favorite rpg for the console. KOTOR 2 was alright, but in no way compared to its predecessor. Alright, enough comparison talk...The ability to make a choice within an rpg is great, choosing whether to do good or evil. Depending on how many choices of each you do, you can be either or neutral. KOTOR I found myself neutral for most of the game but turned to to dark side in the later stages of development. I completed the game and loved it. I didn't have to go out of my way to take the high road and be a pure hero, but it was less fulfilling, and I felt the evil aspect of the game was better.[/SIZE']
KOTOR II wasn't half the game the original was, I know that people will bring up the fact that they had only fourteen months to create the game and that such a short amount of time wasn't enough to properly finish the game. But in all fairness you can't use that as an excuse for a game who's plot is weak right from the start, who's characters are not at all believable and who's storyline pretty much ignores a lot of what you accomplished in the previous game. It was an OK game I suppose, but I think the original is by far the superior game.
My brother picked up Fable. I got mixed reviews from friends and finally played it. I enjoyed growing up in the game and having most things affect my future. The child and the bully came up, and I couldn't let the child get hurt. I was compelled from that moment in the game I think to do good.
Though in the arena...I did kill whisper as she annoyed me the whole game...
My brother thinks he's a dark sort of person on the other hand, helped beat up the kid, and went out of his way to do wrong deeds. He grew horns, had flies around him, etc.
When the choice came up to either kill his own sister and get ultimate power or throw the dangerous power into the abyss...he struck her down.
After playing most of the game and not getting to that point, and not riding that path, I was like "Oh, no!" I told him I would take my blade and strike him down for doing it, but then he pointed out that he had the ultimate sword and could easily take me down. I guess it depends on the game. KOTOR...feelings, passion, the dark side for me. Fable... Fear not citizens, for I shall bring justice to the land!
I think Fable has that tendency to prompt people to be good because being evil has such a stigma to it, I know my brother who always plays the evil side of a game hated the horns and flies that came with being evil.
And even though I had found Whisper to be trying at times, and her brother Thunder that impudent oaf to be thoroughly vexing I couldn't bring myself to take her life in the Arena.
As I have Fable: The Lost Chapters on PC I'm not sure what the differences are
once you reach the stage of having killed Jack of Blade and have the option of claiming The Sword of Aeons. In TLC if you throw away the sword as I did, you're rewarded with Avo's Tear which is essentially the same sword which in terms of appearance is obviously the weapon of a hero.
And then of course there's all the added content in TLC which again probably changed the outcome between the two games.
 17. Interesting, most interesting. I think as James pointed out, the main problem lies often in the fact that the directors and producers involved in converting a game to a movie just don't respect the source materials. Often they just look at it as basic guidance for the project and do with it what they want afterwards, sometimes you end up with a quite-decent little piece of work and other times you end up with such a perversion that it just makes you want to weep. When the director of the movie is actually a fan of the material it's taken from you often have to with different interpretations of characters, plot and events but often you end up with a superior piece of work, of course in this case I'm thinking about movies based on other sources like comics, as I've yet to see a decent Game/Movie conversion. As I said in the beginning it's all down to the people involved in the end and how willing they are to make a good piece of work as opposed to just a movie that will cover it's costs.
 18.
Interesting, most interesting. I think that you should conduct an investigation into the side effects happening to the OBer's that weren't included into your experiment. That'd be interesting, most interesting...
What we really need to do is found a Spoilers-Anonymous group to help people overcome their addiction, I know that I've got a serious spoiler craving going on right now man and I just need one last hit before I can get clean.
Oh yeah man that's the stuff right there. Anyway with SA we can't all get together and take down those fascistic pigs who got us all hooked in the first place, and also I can kill Shinji for stealing part of my soul with his cheap rip-off...
[Falls asleep on a conveniently placed couch, muttering incoherently]
 19. Interesting, most interesting.
How are people gonna sign up in the AL? Shouldn't I at least do that in AI?
Well in it's current form Nomura your idea sounds more like a competition as opposed to an RPG, so those who are interested in it will frequent the Anime Lounge which is where you'll get your best recruits. If you are interested in creating RPGs then I do second Sandy's idea that you join some first to get to know the ropes, and after you feel you've got a good understanding of what you need to do you create one you just let yourself go in the writer's process. I suppose my only other piece of advice is not to be discouraged if you sign up and don't get accepted for an RPG, just take what you can from the experience and learn from it.
 20. Interesting, most interesting. My biggest pet peeve has to be grammar and spelling, whether it has to do when people use either "Txt" language on mobile phones or using "l33t" speak on the Internet, or just plain bad spelling and grammar in a normal post. I mean most people have access to some form of spellchecker so there should be no reason to have to translate what someone is saying unless they're being really half-assed and want to annoy people. Aside from spelling and grammar, I suppose my other pet peeve would be when other people use untold number of smilies in their posts, I don't mind one, but when people start substituting parts of sentences for them it's time for action.
 21. Interesting, most interesting. It is saddening to hear such a view expressed by someone who's mandated to look after the welfare of the city and it's people, even if it seems most of them won't be returning because they can't afford to rebuild. Though that's the part I don't get, wouldn?t most, if not all of those houses destroyed by Katrina be insured ? And thus the whole cost of rebuilding is covered, and even if it isn?t I thought there was some kind of fund set up to help the victims of Katrina. All that aside, it?s the sentiment of the statement that?s saddening, that even after all the civil rights movement?s work it seems there?s always going to be attitude like that.
 22. Interesting, most interesting. Do I believe in ghosts ? The honest answer is no, and the same goes for the supernatural. However when I say I don't believe in ghosts or the supernatural, that is not to say I don't believe in angels or the spirituality associated with Catholic belief, I know it sounds like a contradiction but such is the nature of faith. I suppose I don't believe in ghosts because the part of me that reveres science above all else refuses to believe that which cannot be proven scientifically, thus the existence of ghosts and the supernatural. The part of me that is Catholic then doesn't believe in ghosts because after we die we either go to Heaven or we go to Hell, or we go to Purgatory but there's no going back to haunt the living.
 23. I had a feeling we'd be seeing another DailyOtaku issue before too long, seeing your response to my revealing the age of Enter the Net. I'm glad the nefarious mystery surrounding the Spoiler Tag has finally be thrust out into the light, as to avoid other members being affected in the same way myself, Josh and Alex were. Hopefully DailyOtaku's search for the truth behind the clandestine on OtakuBoards will continue, and provide us with plenty of laughs in the meantime.
 24.
Question:[/B'] Why do dogs circle around several times before settling down to sleep? I mean first they circle moving clockwise and then they turn around and circle counter clockwise. Sometimes they will do that for over five minutes before finally curling up to sleep. I?ve gotten conflicting answers on that one.
That's something that's always puzzled me, the dogs I've had never showed that particular trait but my uncle's pups are doing it constantly. I asked a vet a couple of months ago exactly why dogs do the whole circling thing and he said it's often because they're restless before they sleep and do that to burn off some energy.
 25. Interesting, most interesting. I have to admit reading the thread title I had the distinct feeling that the is exactly the kind of statement President Bush might make to his cabinet if he wants to start another war. I may regularly lament the state of Irish politics and particularly our ineffectual or perhaps completely incompetent government, but thankfully we don't have the same kind of everlasting media uproar that seems to rage in the United States. The only game that I recall being publicly berated in the newspapers was Manhunt and in all fairness there was a least some basis to the complaints. I think honestly what's needed in the States is for people to take a step back, relax their breathing and then go back and look at the issue in a calm manner, coolly and logically without either side getting worked up over it. And often what people will find is that it is only a small percentage of either side is purely antagonistic in the argument and the rest are willing to look at the black and white facts and accept that both sides may have valid points. In the case of certain games, such as Manhunt, the content or the violence becomes purely gratuitous without bringing anything to the game except controversy. One the one side, there are indeed individuals who will snap, kill people and then try to use videogames as a defence for their crimes, though in a vast majority of the cases it is actually the defence attorney advises such a move. On the other hand there are levels of content, whether that content be violent or sexual in nature that is unnecessary to the point of being downright wrong. As I said the people on both sides need to stop roaring their points at one another, calm down and look at the black and white facts without bias.
