Well as everyone seems to be picking a different Zelda game, I'm just going to side with my own personal favourite, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. One of the main things that attracted me to the gamne, and repelled others was the games cel-shaded graphics. I personally love them, I think they add a great whimsical element to the Legend of Zelda games, and also makes the game feel much more like the stories your grandparents would tell you about dragons and all that stuff when you were little. The style of the game was also quite different to the other Legend of Zelda games, the world that the game is set in seems to have a lot more going on in it that previous ones. I mean it genuinely seems on some of the bigger islands that you're dealing with a semi-realistic community, as echoed by the variety of different sub-quests you can do. Maybe I'm just imagining it, but the characters and the actual towns seemed a lot more animated than before, and I don't mean it in terms of graphics but in just terms of development. I mean Ocarina of Time has some great characters to it, but they were mainly just main characters and secondary ones seemed a bit cut-&-paste. The game itself is smaller than say A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, but to me anyway that never really bothered me, I was enjoying the story more than I was wondering how long it was going to go on for. I found the overall layout of the games dungeons to be excellent as well, well apart from the Wind Temple, but all the other dungeons and sub-dungeons were exceptionally well laid out. The game just seemed to flow from one segment to the next without losing focus, and although people complained about the length of time sea exploration took, I loved it, so relaxing and the added bonus of treasure hunting was just great. To me The Wind Waker was the embodiment of what a Zelda game should have felt like, it felt like you were part of a story and that the story evolved, rather than revolved around you. A few complaints aside, it easily compares in style, substance and fun to every other Zelda game produced.
Oh, boo frickety hoo. You guys are so spoilt, it's ridiculous. We're paying 89 cents per litre in Queensland, and I'm pretty sure that New South Wales is generally about 10 cents more expensive. England is paying 79-85 pence per litre, and has been as high as 99 pence per litre. 1 gallon=4.546 litres, and 1 quid equals about 1.87 US dollars. Using those rates, fuel prices are something close to the following: 1 gallon in England= .79x1.87x4.546 = 6.72 US dollars. 1 gallon in English currency= .79x4.546 = 3.59 pence. I think that says quite a bit, don't you? And quite frankly, I don't think boycotting Saudi based fuel will lower American fuel prices. It may lower other countries' prices; if the cheap fuel isn't going to America, then it's free to go to the other countries, in theory. I'm not exactly a professor regarding fuel, but I don't see how boycotting it will bring it down, lol. I think when it comes down to it, this'll be a matter of principle versus practicality.
And I thought petrol was getting was getting expensive here in the Republic, we're paying about ?1.00 on average per litre for petrol, and strangely enough about the same for diesel. I say strangely, as anyone who drives a diesel car knows that it's a less refined version of petrol and it would made sense that it'd be cheaper because there'd be less processing involved. In fact around where I live, diesel at the moment is more expensive than petrol which really makes me wonder what the heck is going on. One thing that people have to, absolutely have to realise is that besides America being the world's largest consumer of petrol, other very large emerging countries are taking up a chunk of the market. China would be the best example of this as much of it's people are now starting to cars to go to and from their business, and it doesn't take a genius to realise that a country of over a billion people is going to use quite a lot of petrol. The Americans as it is are getting a very sweet deal out of the petrol trade and as such shouldn't bloody well moan when they receive a small increase in the cost of petrol. Also both Chabichou and Ken are exactly correct, all the people in Saudi Arabia are not terrorists out to kill the Americans, and boycotting their products because of a few people who do is not a fair thing.

I have to admit that it sounds rather like any other I suppose serial TV serial, with the added plot twist that all the women involved [at least the characters anyway] are homosexual. I'm not sure if the series will reach this side of the Atlantic, although a lot of other American serials like Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives have reached Europe [I watched neither of these shows but a dear friend of mine goes on about them incessantly making me want to throttle her]. If memory serves Channel Four [UK Channel] fiddled about with a programme called The L Ward, about a bunch of promiscuous lesbian nurses but I doubt it's the same.
Expanded Universe fiend. The cannon is the only truth. Not to say I don't love the novels as well; its just the only thing that can be taken seriously are the movies. Ep3 is going to rule. The final Star Wars movie ever and maybe the best. Hopefully, Grievous's fights scenes aren't as stupid as in the last episode of season Clone Wars.
I'm afraid you are mistake Foshi, the Expanded Universe is the official continuation to the Star Wars Saga, and as such everything that happens in it is in fact canon and should be taken as seriously as the movies. The movies are brilliant [at least the original ones are] but the EU adds huge new dimensions to Star Wars in terms of characters and events, and allows us to see the original story from different points of view, rather than what we see in Lucas' movies. Also anyone who wishes to ask WTF I mean in that points of view, look back a few pages in this thread and you'll see a very long discussion on it.
I watched the Star Wars OT DvDs this weekend, and I noticed a few things. Tell me if I am right in my speculations. 1. In episode IV, Jabba's animation was redone. 2. Boba Fett had a different voice. 3. A scene of a celebrating Naboo was added to the end of VI. 4. In Empire, some dialogue was added to the Emperor's conversation with Vader. :animestun

Wow, very good. But, you missed a few things. IN TESB the Emporers holo animation is different. The Anakin force spirit at the end of ROTJ is now Hayden Christinsen instead of the old guy. There are some new clean ups to animations and other things not worth mentioning.
Alright, I'm going to take them all as if they were one post, to put things plainly, since the release of the Special Edition videos back in the 90s and the new DVDs last year, Lucas had made what he calls small improvements to the SW films, though whether they are in fact improvements you can decide for yourself. 1] Jabba actually never featured in the original Star Wars before the Special Edition was brought out, I personally didn't like his addition because seeing Jabba for the first time in the original Return of the Jedi gave him a mystique that was completely ruined by just having him appear in the hanger with Solo. 2] Fett is now voiced by Temuera Morrison instead of Jeremy Bulloch, this is simply because Boba is a clone of Jango and would obviously speak exactly the same [barring any accidents]. I much preferred Bulloch as something about Morrison's voice made him seem inferior to the cold, heartless Boba of the OT. 3] Again just a change by Lucas to bring the OT closer to his New Trilogy, although I was hoping Naboo would have been destroyed in the Clone Wars as to erase the Gungans and Padmé and Anakin's atrocious love story. 4] This one I?ll combine with Foshi?s as they?re based on the same thing, in the Original Old Trilogy, Ian McDiarmid was not introduced as the Emperor until ROTJ, before then it was a different actor with a completely different voice. When the DVDs were rolled on they redid that scene with McDiarmid in it this time and changed the lines[ which made them seem much less effective]. 5] That Old Guy was David Prose who happened to play Vader throughout the entire Old Trilogy, who was the body while James Earl Jones did the voice. Prose was removed from the ending scenes of the new ROTJ because of something that will happen in Episode III, what that?ll be I don?t know but it had better be good.

A very interesting little story Mike, I quite like the way you went to such great detail to describe everything that might occur in a normal person's day. I'd agree with Mitch's description that because people often have so much everyday things to do in their life, they often don't have the chance to do the things they'd really like to. I really look forward to reading about the different short-stories about other people in the town, and perhaps their interaction with characters we've already met.
So many people claim to talk to the dead, see the dead, exchange insults with the dead and so on until they're blue in the face - yet there's little (if any) evidence to back it all up. In terms of believing in the 'supernatural', I'm on the fence. There are far too many claims, along with the myriad of blurry images that offer 'proof' in the form of something easily re-created in photoshop. At the same time, there are many unexplainable events & goings on in the world, although giving reasons such as ghosts for these happenings isn't exactly built on a solid foundation of research. We have yet to explore the many avenues & truths there could be in the subject; but until I see/experience something concise I'll still dismiss it.
Those pretty much sum up my feelings on the supernatural, I've always believed that stuff like that just a little too dubious at the moment to be give real credit. Most of the so-called Ghost-Hunters seem to lack any real scientific proof to their claims and use the world Poltergeist far, far too often. I'd really have to see irrefutable proof of the existence of ghosts to believe any of it, and still then I'd probably have my doubts.

Well I understand that people would like to get rid of say a double thread or something along those lines, but when people could [and have according to Tony] delete threads simply because they don't like the outcome it's probably better that we don't have the ability any more. Simply asking a Moderator politely to delete a double thread would be the most obvious answer to that problem, and really if you are embarrassed about it then take solace in the fact that you're certainly not the first person to do it and you definitely won't be the last. I've played so many video games over the years that I'm not sure I could simply pick one and cal it my favourite. I mean you can't really compare whether GoldenEye 64 was a better game than Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [just picking two great Nintendo 64 games for the sake of it] because they?re two totally different games on two totally different genres. However since this is merely based on personal favourites, rather than trying to establish the ?Best Video Game? of all time I guess I can make a go at it. GoldenEye 64: The best Shooter I have ever played without a shadow of a doubt, and probably one of the best multiplayers too. GoldenEye was brilliant for just so many reasons, not only because the movie version had an excellent plot on which to base the game, but also because it had such amazing gameplay, you actually felt that you were James Bond when you played that game. Yes there were a few weapons that could have been better [the Klobb was a gun that you avoided with all effort], but overall it was just a gaming experience, as I have yet to play a shooter that has been as good [HL:2 decided it didn?t want to work] or had such a great and fun multiplayer aspect to it. Definitely a game Nintendo should try and secure the right to remake. Knights of the Old Republic: This is without a doubt the single best Star Wars game that has been released, as well as being one of the great Role-Playing Games. The mix of the sheer power of the Star Wars saga, as well as some truly great characters and gaming moments makes this a definitely game to play for any serious gamer. On the technical side the game graphics still hold up well 2 years after it?s been released, it has an excellent skill and feat system, the score to the game is great and overall there are very few flaws with the game itself. Yes probably the only flaws are that the game is slightly short [25 hours to get through a game if not less, as my own record is 19] and you really only care about maybe 5 of the 9 characters. Final Fantasy VI: I haven?t beaten the game yet, and I?ve only played VI, VII, VIII and X so I can?t really saw it?s the best Final Fantasy game as there are five that I haven?t played. However Final Fantasy VI is definitely the best of the games that I have played, the story and characters are far, far superior to that of many of the other games, although to be fair VII is a very good game. That said VI has a superb story to it, a villain that you actually loathe with all your heart and characters that you actually do begin to care for. The gameplay is still great after all these years, although the graphics are quite dated [the movies in the PSOne version are very good though] but even the graphics don?t hold back what is a truly compelling game. I really have to finish it at some stage... Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker: Probably only loses out to A Link to the Past in terms of gameplay, but I prefer TWW for everything else. TWW?s animation was probably the best thing about it as the cel-shaded graphics added a kind of whimsical, fairy-tale dimension to it, which really did suit the game. The return of Z-Targeting and all the usual Zelda controls made the game feel right, and added to this the fact that the story was top-notch made the game a real feather in Nintendo?s cap. Some people have complained about the fact that you had to spend so much time exploring the sea in order to unlock the game?s secrets, but I found it to be the most relaxing part of the game. My only real complain with the game was Tingle, I loathe that lycra-clad little gremlin, and there is no way he should be able to demand such vast amounts for his services. Well that?s me all done.
I too have thought about this quite a bit. I have made many mistakes in the past that I regret, but all those things I have learned from. Those mistakes make me who I am so I don't think if I had the chance to change the past I would do it.
Panda has basically summed up all my thoughts on the subject, changing your past would change the person you are today, so you'd really have to decide if you're happy with who you are now. If I had the chance to change my past I'd probably try and lead a more healthy lifestyle, and definitely avoid the ball that put me out of school. But if I did change those things the I'd probably change a thousand different things that have happened since. I mean since I've been out of school I've had the chance to really think about what I want to do with my life and had some great times on OB, and that leads me to wonder if what's happened since has been worth it. However dealing in what if's and if only's is probably the best way to torture yourself, your life is as it is now, life it and just enjoy it. Life is too precious to waste on wishing you could have done things differently.

I was just browsing through my movie collection to try and pin down the worst sequel to a film that I've seen, and even though it isn't even released on DVD and Video yet, Ocean's Twelve just has to take the crown. I got the first film, Ocean's Eleven as part of a triple-pack of videos and when I first went to watch it I wasn't expecting much. I usually equate a film with a very prominent cast to be either very crap and just using the cast to get people to go see it, or a lot of people in Hollywood were genuinely interested in it. Anyway to get back to my point, I thoroughly enjoyed Eleven and thought that it was definitely one of the slickest heist films I'd seen in a long time, as such when I heard about Ocean?s Twelve I was quite excited as I hoped it would be just as good as the first had been. Anyway when it came out in the cinema I went to see it, and from the very start I knew that something was wrong,
it started when they brought back Andy Garcia?s character
as I was hoping they were going to have a different storyline to it.
The Fox [if I remember his name] was an interesting nemesis to the film, and for a while I quite liked him, however him betraying Ocean and his crew to Garcia because he wanted the be Numero Uno was a bit petty and kind of brought down the film.
However the single thing they did to kill the film entirely, and I say entirely because it became simply unwatchable after that, was them having
Julia Roberts play herself
, I mean for God?s sake, that was just plain horrific,
and then to have Bruce Roberts come in and actually bring it in more just killed it for me. I mean why not have George play himself, or Matt or any of the other cast. I mean even though the ending to Julia playing herself was good it
still did not forgive them doing that, I just literally went out of the cinema, not only feeling cheated out of a good sequel but also feeling they?d brought down
the credibility of the cast who didn?t play themselves.
I haven?t seen Bill and Ted?s Excellent Adventure but the sequel Awesome Journey couldn?t possibly have been the better of the two.

I've had far too many weird dreams to recall them all, but only the weirdest of the weird have stayed with me. Some of my more weird one lately have involved large, inanimate M.I.B.-styled insects a cousin of mine's house, which also strangely features the old Generation One Transformers. I can't recall the dream in it's entirety but I think I was part of like an M.I.B. team sent in to clear out the house with flame-throwers like the one you see at the beginning of M.I.B [the original], as for the Transformers part in it, I have no clue. My weirdest dream however involved a herd of cows, a copy of Red Alert 2 and the Ferengi from Star Trek. I have absolutely no idea what the point of the dream was, as I went from location to location with just me and the cattle, until the end I was fighting off the Feregni in like a mountain pass with a phaser. The strangest thing about that dream [as if it wasn't strange enough] is that I'm 100% certain I've had it before.
Nintendo is working on a Pokemon game I forget the name of, but everything I've read points to it being the type of game you're looking for. Hopefully it turns out.
Ah first I've heard of it, though it would be a hugely welcomed change to their pitiful attempts at 3D Pokémon games that the Stadium ones have been. However in saying that the Stadium games did have some quite enjoyable mini-games, but lacked the longevity and RPG elements that made the Gameboy games so good.
Boy, I'm glad that I'm not the only one lol. I can't be near the edge of anything, or else I will start freaking out. Heights scare the hell the out of me. Just thinking about heights is making my arms feel all weird and tingly. Blah. Strangely enough, I can go on airplanes and roller coasters without any problem. I don't have any other phobias that I know of. I guess the only thing that would come close would be poisonous snakes, but there aren't very many of them at all down here, so whatever lol.
I have had that for years, I can go on planes without a second thought yet being asked to climb a tree or look over the edge of a high building turns my knees to jelly. I think that such a fear might be either a fear of falling, rather than a fear of heights, or a fear of heights when you don't feel secure in being up that high [although that too would be a fear of falling]. Other than heights/falling I don't really have a bad fear of anything else, I used to be afraid of snakes for a long time until a friend of mine bought a pet snake and I just got accustomed to them. They're actually not at all slimy as a lot of people believe, although watching them eat mice is not a pleasant sight.

The project itself looks exceptionally interesting, although I have always been a fan of the Gene Wilder Wonka [as it was the one I grew up with] rather than what might a darker, less whimsical Wonka. Still I have every intention of signing up for this new and electrifying RPG in the Inn, although with so many characters to choose from it will be a difficult decision. I haven't had a chance to read through it fully as of yet, but the style of the RPG has sent Goosebumps down my spine.

The "Crazy Frog" is a mobile phone ringtone with accompanying animation, the tune itself is merely the Frog making the sounds of a motorbike starting up and eventually taking on in an exceptionally annoying voice. The animation itself was of a greeny-blue kind of a frog standing upright in a biker's leather jacket and helmet, he donned no trousers and for a long while [before censors stepped in] was showing a very small pair of testicles. Overall it was a tuneless, mirthless pile of garbage that for some reason went on to become a very big success in the ringtone charts , although that's probably because it was on MTV's breaks every ten minutes.
You seem to be forgetting that we're talking about FOX. This is the network that (9 out of 10 times) takes style over substance. Arrested Development is one of their most critically acclaimed, Emmy award winning shows, and they almost considered cancelling it this season.
To my knowledge Manic, the only access to FOX shows that I have is on SkyOne as it's a sister channel of FOX's owned by the Murdoch Corporation. So I'm afraid that I really have no knowledge of their broadcasting quirks, however if you say that they have been willing to take style over substance then it does cast a shadow over the future of Family Guy. I have to admit though that it would take a seriously irrational person to cancel a show like Family Guy when it had such a huge fan base across the world.

Alright, that's all the editting done as I promised, I'm rather happy with the way it turned out. Name: Amadeus Mondego Character: The Villain Age: 40 years, 4 months and 11 days. Appearance: As seen Here, although his hair is slightly shorter and less straight, much like this. As opposed to the flamboyant and outdated pirate attire worn by his predecessor, Mondego wears an apparel more fitting of this new age of science. Bio: "Many people would consider Neverland a paradise, not I" Beyond the magical creatures that inhabit Neverland, few are born there, for most of them Neverland is a haven for excitement and the imagination, for Mondego is was not. Perhaps he wasn?t actually born there, but was brought at an age so young he can no longer recall the event, he cares little for the facts surrounding his arrival at this place, he loathes it with ever fibre of his being and longs to escape. He regards Neverland as little less than a prison where he is the only inmate, while others taunt him with their enjoyment of his suffering, and this is why he hates Peter Pan and his Lost Boys. With the demise of Captain Hook, Pan?s long-time nemesis, Mondego has been able to subjugated the forces and lands once under his control. Where as Hook travelled in his enormous pirate flagship, Mondego a man of science prefers not to be seen in something so primitive, and his mammoth dirigible can often be seen gracing the skies above Neverland. Mondego himself prefers not to descent down to the depths of his prison, electing instead to have his faithful and intelligent right hand Mira carry out his orders.

I do agree with James when he says that there has to be a level of parental responsibility taken, and merely scapegoating their accountability and blaming it on a form of entertainment is a very poor response indeed. Yes I wholehearted agree with the having ratings on games, because let?s face it there is certain content in games that younger gamers shouldn?t see, it?s the same reason we have ratings on films. Sexual content and ultra-violence are not subject matter that you?d bring your 9 year old cousin to is it ? However I am not recommending some archaic restrictions that would make it damn near impossible for people to play such games, I merely saying that ratings do have a point. The second level you play in Hitman: Contracts for instance, Death of the Meat King is a mission I would very gladly have erased from my memory because of the gore level. But yes on the issue of blaming videogames, music, movies and television for every psychopath and murder we have in the world today is not only imbecilic but laughable, there will always be people who are one step away from going insane and becoming homicidal maniacs, did the people of Austria blame Mozart for violence that occurred in Vienna ? I doubt it but certain people seem to like to justify their own warped thinking with equally inane and absurd reasoning. Videogames are not to blame, TV is not to blame, movies are not to blame, music is not to blame, drugs, bad genes and general homicidal tendencies are. Parents who are ignorant or inattentive to their children?s obvious psychopathic nature don't help either.

Interesting, most interesting. There are several games from the old Megadrive days of my childhood that I'd love to get an outing on some of the new portable systems, games such as Streets of Rage [1&2], Revenge of Shinobi and Golden Axe were classics, and although they weren't exceptionally long games they were excellent for their time. I mean there's literally hundreds of games from the Megadrive that could be ported to the GBA SP, DS or the PSP with literal ease, as Nintendo have done with the SNES. Adding new content to certain games wouldn't be hugely challenging or even just giving the graphics a bit of a polishing would be a nice touch in any event. I'd definitely side with James' desire to see a full 3D rendition of A Link to the Past, ALttP is easily the best of all the Zelda games, and some next generation graphics and some new content would really make the game shine. If we were talking about full 3D conversions of other games, I'd love to see Final Fantasy 6 or perhaps even a proper 3D version of Pokémon, the Stadium games just don't live up to their portable cousins.

Ah well that's great news, I've always been a huge fan of Family Guy and found it a far, far funnier show than The Simpsons. I would say that old fans will return to the show with aplomb and maybe it'll attract some new fans this time around since Futurama has also been ended prematurely. I agree with Tony when he says that things probably won't change, McFarlane knows that by changing things in the show he risks losing returning fans. There's also the fact that even if he does change things in order to attract a new audience he may fail entirely to attract them and will have in essence shot himself in the foot. As per FOX ordering only a certain amount of episodes, you'd think the rate at which the quality of The Simpson's has been declining [their basically relying on guest celebrities for ratings for new episodes] they'd be wary about cancelling a show that has the potential to go on and be exceptionally funny.

Writing Druik the Deviant & The Demonic Sandwich [PG]
Gavin replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
That was excellent, I really enjoyed Malkore's meeting with Foulkore, and I look forward to see how they'll meet one another on the field of battle in the future for evil dominance of the world. The return of Oblivior is also something I'm greatly looking forward to, hopefully he has taken on a greater status in life than Druik and his My Little Pony thing. -
Definitely an interest take on the concept of death, I actually really enjoy it. It's not your typical genre, Gavin but it is equally well done as most of your comedy, the clarity of description means to you can put yourself in the main character's shoes and see what he sees with great accuracy. I'm not usually a fan of morbid kind of stuff like what this might have been, as done by another member, but you've added your own touch to this and it really is great.

Actually I've just watched my brother playing Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and going through that last level you have to play through to
unlock Isildur
. I've done it before but I just now remember how big a pain in the arse it is, about twelve levels of nothing but slicing the heck out of stuff without getting hit yourself. It took me, if memory serves about nine goes to go through it and unlock him, and he's absolutely crap, he's exactly the same as Aragorn and there was no point in doing it really.

Oh I used to have that problem the whole time with Windows 98, hasn't happened to me so far with my new XP PC, but it seems to just love saying it needs to shut down when I'm playing KOTOR or KOTOR 2. That said I have had stages when I cannot for the life on my post what I want to say, although that either goes down to writers block or a simple case that I really don't know what it is that I want to say. However after a spell off OB of about a month or more as I had after Christmas, I found it exceptionally hard to get back into the swing of things. It usually takes a few weeks to get back into posting shape, which is why I try to avoid leaving OB for long spells at all costs.

I have to admit that I've pulled all nighters before, although not on my PC, my Gamecube however is another story, as are my Star Wars and Star Trek collections. The only times I've pulled an all nighter with my Gamecube was when I first got the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, I played it for about 16 hours straight from around 8 PM to about noon the following day. I've watched the entire Indiana Jones trilogy, which is about 8 or 9 hours in total in one night, although I nearly fell asleep a few times in the less interesting parts of the films. Did the same with the Old Star Wars trilogy and often wondered how Luke felt about his kiss with Leia in Empire Strikes Back after he learned he was her brother in Return of the Jedi. Still all nighters are something to be done only when necessary or when money is on the line.
