Interesting, most interesting. That was a truly excellent little piece of fiction Mike, I agree with Mimmi, you should definitely speak to Eric Idle or John Cleese if you get the chance. I found to be immensely well written as well as entertaining, although I did see the "he was a woman" bit coming. Adding the extra layer that it was in fact someone's dream does add a surreal nature to it, although that doesn't affect the story in any way. Honestly I'm just looking forward to getting to read the rest of the stories to come, knowing your imagination and writing skills Mike they'll be a joy to read.

Interesting, most interesting. Honestly I'm a little sad that Nintendo are retiring the A and B buttons [Yes I am a bit sad for adding the colours], they've been part of Nintendo so long it seems a shame to lose them. On the other hand I'm completely confident that Nintendo have some radical and yet brilliant alternative to replace them, in all the years I've had Nintendo consoles they've never been a let down once in the controller department [Well I admit the 64's Pad was a bit awkward at times]. As James was saying I do think that each of the more mainstream consoles are going off in different directions in terms of what they'll offer the gamer, whether that will be good or bad we can only wait and see. I honestly don't think that any of the "Next Gen" consoles will fail, even in Ireland where the Gamecube has been taking an absolute hammering in terms of sales, it still has them. I think that Microsoft may lose some ground if their X-Box 2 console is very expensive, their loses on producing the X-Box gave them an advantage in the field for a while but that seems to be taking it's toll now. As for the Sony PlayStation 3 I think that'll be just what we've always seen from Sony, an improvement on power and graphics [really just a very turbo PS2]. As for the PSP I honestly don't know all that much about it so I can't really make any definite statements, if could do well although the Portable market is very much Nintendo territory. My own feelings are just simply put: Wait and see...

Interesting, most interesting. Heh heh I found that to be a most entertaining read, so humorous, yet so dark and mysterious. Then of course when you have Gavynn for a bad-guy who simply cannot be beaten in his sexy villainy. I enjoy reading the stories and I hope you'll have a few more chapters up in the coming weeks, maybe one before the New Year if we're all fortunate.

Interesting, most interesting. Honestly I would like to see a few other skins, I've always been a fan of the Liquid skin as opposed to Geisha one. If Baron's idea is possible, I'm afraid I don't know enough about the layout of OB or it's HTML to say whether it is or isn't possible, however if it is I think it would honestly cut down on James' work load. Maybe a few more colourful skins would be in order if he is taking requests, some yellows or light greens might be nice.

School Yard Alcoholic [PG-13] The yard wall was where everything went on. One hiccuped stupidly at the other, his gaze was returned with a dubious raised eyebrow. ?Go on... just try some.? ?Keep it, I don?t like that stuff.? Silence reigned, the bottle once again raised to his lips, liquid flowed intoxicating his mind. Two boys, friends no more...

Interesting, most interesting. I have to admit I've had my fair share of weird dreams, so are just slightly strange, while others are simply mad. Usually I don't have dreams, it's just a case of me going to sleep and then waking up a few hours later, all as though it was only a blink. Trying to remember my dreams is like trying to hold water in a sieve, however the more memorable ones are quite weird. I'll start with the most recent I suppose, best place to start as it's the freshest in my mind. The dream itself revolved around me being part of a group like the Men in Black, only if they were exterminators, yeah I was part of a group that killed alien insects for a living. The whole dream took place in my cousin Edward's house, basically we went in with the whole tank of poison, overalls and gas mask job to flush out an infestation. Most of the bugs looked simply like over-sized weird versions of their Earth counterparts, for example on was a blue cockroach the size of a hand on the wall. When I actually went to spray the bugs I found out I was using a flame-thrower as opposed to a poison-sprayer, it was definitely one of the more weird dreams I've had. Only one other really comes to mind in terms of being "strange" was one where I was flying around a city using a jet pack, blowing up cars with a rocket launcher. There were no real specific details, well it happened years ago so perhaps the details escape me, however I remember the general premise of it. Even though it was weird, the dream itself was rather funny, kind of like a Grand Theft Auto of your subconscious.

Interesting, most interesting. My family's traditions are pretty usual, more Christmas Eves we usually get a bunch of relations who come over and have drinks and food, then we either play cards or monopoly until about two in the morning. Christmas Day is usually just the family going to mass in the morning and then coming back and opening up most of the presents. Although before the "big secret" got out it was usually myself and my brother getting up at about 4 AM going down stairs and looking for presents. Tomorrow we'll probably just go to mass, come home and open the rest of the presents from one another and then just watch a movie and eat dinner, simple but fun.

Interesting, most interesting. Heh I beat Red here to be the first Irish person to post. As that statement would suggest I'm from the Republic of Ireland, well it would suggest the Ireland part but maybe not the exact area. Anyway I'm from the county of Tipperary, although beyond that I'm not giving anything away, well I'll say that I also live in the south of the county. James actually informed me that we have quite a few Irish members here on OB, although the more interesting fact is that many people can count at least one Irish relative. Pretty soon we'll need to add another category to the OB Awards: Sexiest Irishman.

Well I actually posted in this a few months ago, though reading back my list hasn't changed, instead I'll just offer up another list of some of my other favourite movies. The Incredibles: I have loved this film since I first saw it a few weeks back, it moulded everything of the superhero genre that I enjoy without making it seem very unrealistic. The characters themselves are all great, although Syndrome has to take the crown for the best character, he was just great to watch and his humour was brilliant. Honestly I think it was a film for all ages, but one in which different age groups could laugh at different things which appealed to them. Death to Smoochy: I actually finally bought the film this evening but this has to be one of the funniest films I've ever watched, it as what it says on the tin, "Barney with Gangsters". Edward Norton and Robin Williams play their parts superbly, although Williams sheer versatility when it comes to actions and voices has to tip the hat in his favour for best character. One of the funniest scenes had to be
when Sheldon was tricked into attending the Nazi conference
I just laughed so hard the first time I saw that, it was just sheer genius. Happy Gilmore: Best Sandler comedy ever. Those are simply my thoughts on that film, it was just such a perfect mix of Sandler's mad humour and a game which didn't have it coming. The humour although adult did have a mix of slapstick to it, and was just sometimes plain silly, but all and all that's what made it so funny. Ben Stiller actually did a really good job in his role, his whole appearance didn't really belay his underlying evil. A great film to just sit back and watch without really having to think too much.

Interesting, most interesting. My own most hated cliché has to be the "hyped-up young hero who wants to earn everybody's reverence", it's one of the most overused clichés in videogames and runs rife through the Final Fantasy series. When it comes to videogames I'd actually like to see a main character who isn't just generic personality wise, like Kyle Katarn from the Jedi Knight series actually has a great personality which makes him a believable character. It's not that that kind of character is inherently bad, it's just that that kind of personality is used far to often.

Interesting, most interesting. Well as I said to you over AIM this is a fascinating idea, and I love to get the chance to take part in it. However I'm afraid that I am a little stuck on whether to be Boromir or Gimli, in the books both characters are actually quite cool [Gimli not having been reduced to comic-relief]. I'd say it's a toss-up situation but as I'm always the dwarf in these excursions I may actually choose to be Boromir this time around. Honestly I agree with Gavynn, this RP wouldn't really need any more than a PG-13 rating, it's not like there's going to be any hardcore "situations".

Interesting, most interesting. My own opinion on abortion is very, very simple, it is wrong under any circumstances. I consider abortion to be one of the most heinous crimes that anyone can commit, and doctors who perform abortions to be both breaking their Hippocratic Oath and murdering an innocent child. I find the idea that someone would defend abortion by merely stating that because the foetus has no brain activity in the first three months to be entirely asinine, do we kill people in hospital when they no longer register brain activity ? I think not, so why should we kill an innocent child on those reasons ? I honestly believe that a women who has more than one abortion because she doesn?t want to have children should be taken away and neutered like an animal, extreme yes, but so are her crimes. In Ireland we have yet to legalise abortion, something I am eternally grateful for. Women and young girls who want an abortion have to go to either Northern Ireland or England for abortions, a practice which is quite expensive and honestly I hope it stays that way. I mean what is so wrong with women just having the child and then giving it up for adoption, now I merely offer than up as a suggestion in the case of women who after a one-night stand don?t want the baby, but God why kill it ? There are so many couples in the world who would love to have a child and are incapable of doing so, people who would make superb parents but for some reason are incapable of having children. I know these views seem extreme but I have seen the damage first hand that an abortion can cause to a person, and their family. I only have one final statement to make in this post: Just for one moment imagine if your parents/mother had decided she didn?t want you, and she had an abortion, you?d never have been born and never had the chance to do all the things you have done [which includes replying to this thread]. Now explain to me why someone else shouldn't have the right to life when you did ?
I have a small question(yes it does relate to this post) This is America right? It's a free country right? If so, shouldn't people have a choice about something like this? All through the election, all Bush and Kerry talked about were things such as abortion and that stem cell reaserch thing when we should have talked about the war in Iraq or the oil problems.Really people, should having the option of abortion really matter?Yes, i know there are teen pregnancies and stupid drunken flings and whatever, but if we make such a big deal out of this and it does become totaly illegal, what happens to people who get raped and stuff like that? Then what?
Just a small note for you EvanescenceChiK, this isn't America, this is Otakuboards and there are other people here besides Americans. So simply stating that because the practice is legal in America does not automatically make the discussion itself invalid. I'm not taking a rip at you or anything EK I'm merely pointing out that we have quite a diverse membership to OB, something which is often overlooked when it comes to more heated debates.

Sorry about my absence as of late guys, this flu has been keeping me pretty much devoid of any form of creativity. --------------------- Van's gaze broke from Vivian's as he walked across the room, he had pretty much spilled his soul to her. Most of the details he'd just shared he'd not shared with anyone, not even Allen, but she seemed to have a connection with what was going on, so she had a right to know. He rubbed his eyes before sighing heavily, the last few weeks had taken a lot out of him, both physically and emotionally, but there had at least been some benefit. His energy reserves were pretty much spent, even though his body had recuperated his injuries he would still require a lot of rest just to get his energy back. He gaze was once again focused on Vivian as her hand came to rest on his shoulder, he just wanted to sleep for a while, just to escape into his subconscious where nothing could get at him. Vivian: [Quietly] Something wrong ? Van: [Off-handedly] I'm just a little tired, sedatives are no match for a proper nights sleep. Van moved towards the library doors, all he wanted to do now was go to his room and lay down beside Trini. As he walked out the door he could almost hear Vivian silently protest but he decided that he'd shared enough for one night, later if they had more to talk about then they'd talk. The white metallic corridors reminded him of his military work, he'd primarily been involved in field medicine, though on occasion he had worked on slightly less orthodox projects. He ran his fingers along the wall, sending a shiver down his spine, he didn't want to be here, but here was where he was, and where he probably die. He moved back along the corridor to Trini's room, he found her awake looking slightly dazed, she smiled as he entered, beckoning him over to her. Their lips met and he instantly felt better, something about being with her seemed to make all his problems just melt away. --------------------- Bah I'll try and come up with something more substantial for my next post.

Interesting, most interesting. Well to get back to the original topic I honestly think that regardless of how accurate the poll was, it is still quite sickening that people would want to restrict the rights of others based on their religion. A very similar thing occured in Ireland during the 1700/1800s when the English Monarchy restricted the rights of Irish Catholics simply because they were Catholics, and the English Monarchy at the time were Anglican Protestant. In every faith there are extremists, be that Catholicism or other Christian creeds, Judaism or Islam, just because some extremist elements receive more attention that others do not mean that they do not exist. Honestly I don't feel like getting involved in the moral rights and wrongs of Americas doing across the world.

Interesting, most interesting. Favourite "proper" rock band is a toss up between two, Queen and Thin Lizzy, honestly I just can't pick one over the other as they're both great bands. Quen just edge out Thin Lizzy when it comes to the energy in their songs, they just seem to ooze passion and get you grooving when you hear them, "Don't Stop Me Now" just kicks ***. However Thin Lizzy also have some great songs and their guitar music is simply divine, even though stuff like "The Boys are back in Town" is better known, some of their less known stuff like "Dedication" is brilliant.

Interesting, most interesting. I've been curious about this film since I first heard about it in another OB thread from a few months back. I've always enjoyed the Batman franchise, although the movies left a whole lot to be desired [I only recently learned that Star Wars' Mark Hamill does the voice of the Joker] but the Animated Series has seemed to capture the Batman essence. Now perhaps I'm wrong about that as I have never had the oppertunity to read any of the Batman comics, they're just not available around where I live. However in saying that if this movie does manage to capture the real Batman soul then it should be very enjoyable to watch.
Oh my, Gavin. I think this will be my first disagreement with you..to an extent. I'm not going to touch on the Mormons, because I am not too affiliated with them. But I am going to argue your accusation on the Jehovah's Witnesses. It's not a based religion. What they believe in is the Bible. They take everything that's going on in the world today and relate it to what has happened in the Bible. Then they proceed to ask you to think about what you can do about it. They don't push you into believing that their "religion" is what you should believe..or Catholicism, Methodist, Protestant, or whatever. They simply use the Bible in a positive way to help deal with what's going on in the world, and how you can make a difference to yourself, your friends, and your family. The Jehovah's Witnesses are a group of people who have the idea to help people use the Bible as a tool, rather than a weapon (is what I've found to be most religion's main to turn, even the religion I still question as my own).
Well Annie I'm merely describing my own encounters with members of the Jehova's Witnesses and Mormans, and I personally found them to be rather strong-armed in their methods. Now maybe the guys who live around my area just take a more active role in trying to covert people to "the truth" as Ken pointed out but again I'm merely saying that that was the extent of my experience with them.

Interesting, most interesting. Honestly I don't really pay much attention to I.Q. tests as they only rate the one section of the psyche when in fact there are several that would be needed to be rated in order to get a more complete idea of a person. In saying I had a proper Mensa set I.Q. test a while back and scored a nice 148 on the test, and although I know that it only rates a small sector of my personality I was rather happy. After all a Mensa test can't be far from being the genuine article, although again it does only rate one part of your personality.

Interesting, most interesting. Well I'm a devout Roman Catholic, always have been, always will be. Just to take Dagger's point one step further and actually clear up the whole subject, Catholicism is actually the original form of Christianity before any other groups like Protestants split off. When it comes to dealing with people from other religions I'm usually very tolerant, they have as much right to theirs as I do mine. However when it comes to groups like Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses who actually come to my house and try and covert me then that annoys me more than a little. I have to admit that when it comes to more modern or New-Age religions like Wiccan I have a tendency to look upon them with a mixture of curiosity and contempt. I suppose the contempt part just comes from a lack of understanding, but honestly I have no intention of learning more about such New Age religions. Yes I accept that is a little closed-minded however time way that people like CHW would be offered up to the Inquisitions and burned alive for being a heretic. I'm of the opinion that such things are a little extreme, and merely raising an eyebrow in a dubious curiosity is enough.
Tell that to the parents of dead children killed by ?reformed? ex-cons. There are some people out there that aren?t fit to live in society. They are a danger to the public, and to other inmates in prison. The death penalty makes sure that they never hurt anyone again.
Those inverted commas don't do you any favours Dave, there are actually people who come out of the prison system in countries besides America reformed. Yes I agree that there aren't people fit to live in society, but does the fact that we deem them to be unfit give us the right to sentence them to death ? I honestly think not, but you are of course entitled to your own opinions. "To make sure they never hurt anyone again." an interesting sentiment, does locking them away from the rest of their lives not solve that problem ? Or do you believe that such evil people will eventually escape or be paroled thanks to some bleeding-heart liberal ?

Another excellent set of chapters, though the Desbreko vs Shinmaru was easily my favourite, there's just something about reverting a Category Moderator to a n00b that is very entertaining. I was considering paying a visit to your MyO to get a few sneak peeks at chapters to come, however I think I prefer to read them as you see fit to post them.

Interesting, most interesting. I actually enjoyed Chronicles of Riddick a heck of a lot more than Pitch Black, there was just something about Pitch Black that seemed very generic in terms of action and horror. If you get the chance, playing through CoR: Escape from Butcher Bay would also give you some added background information. As for the story itself I'd say Lord Vakko [the Nercomonger Commander] would be the more likely one to journey to the Underverse as opposed to Riddick. In saying that it's your story so write it as you please.

Interesting, most interesting. Well as I own and have beaten Sapphire a number of times I don?t think I?ll bother with this game, although I do find the storyline to it to be slightly intriguing. Honestly once you?ve played one Pokémon game on the GB series you?ve played them all, there hasn?t been any serious improvement since Gold and Silver, and even then Nintendo removed a lot of what was cool about them for Ruby and Sapphire. Honestly I?d be more likely to check out Pearl and Diamond when they come out, although going for a trip down nostalgia road with Fire Red and Leaf Green might be one the cards. Overall though since I?ve played Sapphire I don?t think there?s really any point in getting Emerald because beyond a few changes they really are the same game.
