1.
[spoiler']And it appears Sarumon shows himself in this movie. In the previous release of ROTK, he wasn't in it. From what the trailer shows, Gandalf visits him, but I'm not sure. I should really read the books.

And I'll continue the reviving if you don't mind. Saruman and Galdalf do have another talk, though in the books that occurs near the end of The Two Towers as opposed to the beginning of Return of the King, well it's not so much a talk as a repeat of their first encounter. I'm not 100% on the accuracy of what happens as it's been ages since I read the book, something which I shall start again tonight. Anyway if memory serves Gandalf goes to get information from Saruman, the two have a bit of a fight, similar to their fight from FOTR except this time Galdalf being "The White" kicks Saruman's ***. I think that's what happened anyway, though I may be wrong, that said the Special Edition of ROTK should be sweet and if I had the money I'd get it.
  2.
They clearly don't have the technology to be a challenge to the
Ancients
. Major Sheppard took out a handful of their dart ships alone, and he had only learned to pilot the puddle-jumper an hour earlier. Honestly, I think the Atlantis team is just assuming the
Wraith are the ones who took out the Ancients
. For all we honestly know, the real enemy of the
Ancients[/spoiler'] could've been some other threat that the Atlantis have either yet to encounter, or have died out, themselves.
Quite possible Manic, however my own theory on the subject is that the so called "virus" unleashed upon
the Ancients
may have actually been a biological weapon from
the Wraith
. After all this would explain why even with more sophisticated weapons
the Ancients
were defeated, though again that's just a theory.
Either way, I like how the
Wraith
are put on the back-burner. It gives the Atlantis team a chance to get into some real[/i'] conflict with the other human civilizations in the galaxy. They haven't aired any new episodes of either show here in the States since "End Game" and "The Storm." So I've been waiting since September (and will continue to wait until January) to see what happens after the Genii invade.
Bah I had to wait until two weeks ago to just seen the introduction of the Genii, as well as a sweet appearance by Colm Meaney, I've read the previews to all the forthcoming episodes and they seem to be rather interesting. I do enjoy the fact that in Atlantis it's not just your run of the mill evil-tyrannical-aliens trying to conquer humanity. The inclusion of combat between humans and well as the development of friendship is good, reminds me of some of the better Asgard/Human episodes of SG1.
  3. Interesting, most interesting. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a thread about SG1 already, though as the most knowledgeable member of Stargate here on OB it wouldn't have eluded my gaze, and yes I realise how arrogant that sounds. I've been a fan of Stargate since the very beginning with the release of the original movie in the cinema, Kurt Russell and James Spader don't hold a candle to their SG1 counterparts. I've been following and loving SG1 since Season One when it was first aired here in UK and Ireland, the same goes for the newly started (well relatively newly) Atlantis series although I must admit I still prefer SG1 as Sky One airs new episodes of both one after a nother on Tuesday nights. As for the topic at hand I think that Anderson may slip back into a less active role,
his new role as General and head of the SGC giving him less work to do, as well as giving the chance to explore the other main characters more fully.
I personally think he'll stay at that level of activity until SG1 ends which might not be for another while as Michael Greenburg (at least I think it was Greenburg) hinted that if SG1 could do a ninth series then it would be done. Something like that is almost unheard of for a Sci-Fi series, heck ST:TOS only did 3 before calling it quits, although they had 5 great movies (No. 1 stank in mine and the opinions of many fans). Personally I'd like to see the Stargate series branch out a little more but stay true to it's roots, like Star Trek, go from TOS to TNG to DS9 (forget Voy and Ent), and I honestly think that Stargate has the potential to do so. Topic for Debate: In Stargate Atlantis do you honestly think the
Wraith
are as powerful as they're made out to be, I mean the ease at which the Atlantis team beat the tar out of them at each encounter leads me to believe they may not have prevails in combat over the
Ancients
.
  4.
I don't know about you guys, but did anyone feel kind of sad when the NJO finished? I mean, it was a series going on for quite some time, through various books and e-books. You got to see new characters come and go, grow old, and the old grow older. I felt kind of sad when it was over. :(
Yeah I was kind of sad when the whole thing ended but
killing Chewie off really made me hate the series something awful for a while, however the sheer scope of the story eventually redeemed it.
It did have to come to an end eventually and there were times when I thought that NJO might be the end of Star Wars altogether, after all KOTOR and the like opened up the Pre-Wars era. I did develop and attachment for the characters and I wish StarWars.com would update their Database a little more often, I think they've still not got up many of the NJO Jedi Apprentices. One major thing I like about Unifying Force was the reintroduction of many of the old characters, Fett and Katarn being my favourites, I was hoping that Katarn might make an appearance some place outside the Jedi Knight game series.
  5. Well Hevn I'd advise you to post as possible if your going to, although the RPG seems to have died only a short time after it was brought back to life. I guess it kind of went sterile and not enough people wanted to take up posting again, although it could pick up again I sincerely doubt it will.
  6. Interesting, most interesting. Hugo is completely right in this case, if these guys are ripping off your stuff without permission then your best bet is to simply contact them about it and see if you can resolve it. However if it is a simple case of them hotlinking from an image that you have control over you can (as Hugo pointed out) merely change the URL of the image so that they can't "borrow" it any more. However Baron did have a point in that this doesn't actually pertain in any way to OB or any of it's sister sites.
  7. Interesting, most interesting. Lady Asphyxia is indeed correct, only James and Charles have the ability to change people's usernames, the usual method is to merely PM them with your current username and your desired username. After that it's just a case of waiting from them to do it if they get a bit of free time, after all it can't be an easy job running this place 365. As for your name I think it's rather unqiue, I remember a similar discussion when a member called Poo.62 wanted to change his name because he thought it was a little weird. However he later found out that it was the unique nature of his name that made him known as it'd be hard to mistake him for anyone else. However if you do want to change you name it's your choice but remember your username doesn't really make a difference to people replying to your posts.
  8.
Please, trivia doesn't prove anything. :p It is the debates that can come out of Star Wars that proves if one is a guru or not. Ain't that right Boba.';-) I r teh guru! Anywho....Lets see.....Oh yeah. Anyone have any ideas about what Troy Denning's post-NJO trilogy will be about? My favorite author and am very curious.
Post-NJO ? As with Dave this is the first time I've heard anything of it, though I guess it was only a matter of time before the series was set to continue although the last book of the NJO did have a very "series finale" feel to it. I'd say a post NJO triolgy might to a ST: TNG and go a couple of decades beyond the current timline, after all there's really only a lot of rebuilding going on at the moment in the Galaxy far, far away.
  9. Well I?ve finally finished writing the first chapter of The Unbelievables, I?m quite happy with the way it came out and I can only hope you enjoy it as much has I have. The first two or three chapter will be set in the past so as I said it won?t go exactly the same way as The Incredibles did. If you don?t know who a character is based on that?s OK as I?ll be giving a cast listing at the end of the first chapter, although that will only pertain to those who appeared in the chapter itself. Chapter One: Call on Me Setting: Version 4 The golden rays of the sun broke over Otaku City, scattering the darkness and giving birth to a new, bright day. A lone figure sat atop of one of the many skyscrapers that dotted the landscape, the suns rays bounced off his body like a mirror, this was the time of the morning that Polyman liked the best, the time of the morning where everything seemed perfect. His gaze broke from the horizon and dawn to the streets of his metropolis, the city he had taken up a commitment to make safe, although Polyman wasn?t the only Super he sometimes felt like he was. Several automobiles were already in motion, people walking at a leisurely pace along the streets, the warmth of the sun gave him energy after a hard night at work, life went on for Supers like they did for anyone else. ?It won?t be long now? he thought to himself, as peaceful as Otaku City was at this time of the morning the sinister n00b element of the city was always present, always trying to destroy the one little bit of paradise Polyman had decided to call home. The screeching of tires and the wailing of Mod-sirens told him all he needed to know, it was time to get to work... -------------------- Polyman: [Mumbling] What do I enjoy most about being a Superhero ? [Sighs] Honestly I don?t know, there are a whole load of benefits to being a Superhero, the satisfaction of being able to help people would be one of the major ones I suppose. I guess just knowing that I?m able to make a difference to people?s lives would be one of the most enjoyable parts of the job. -------------------- A single black sports car tore down the roads of Liberty, one of the major districts of Otaku City, the words ?1337 n00bs 4 3V3R !1!!!11!!!? were scrawled across the side panelling. A pair of Mod-Cycles had been dispatched in pursuit, obviously Desbreko wanted the suspects apprehended quickly, as not to disturb the morning hours of the city. A cursory glance above informed him that he wasn?t the only Super to take an interest in the chase, a purple lycra clad female was already speeding down the highway, her feet barely touching the ground as she ran. Polyman could help but whistle in disbelief and shake his head, he?d never have thought that Celerity could be out this early in the morning, and besides Liberty wasn?t part of her usual patrol grounds. Still if she could handle them by herself it only meant he could move on to another part of the city to work, diving off the side of the building he manipulated his shoulders until a pair of rough wings had been formed, he couldn?t fly but at least he could glide with them. The city was still just waking up to a new day, although the streets were now considerably more active, the odd honking of a stressed Otaku trying to get to work couldn?t help but put a smile on Polyman?s face. Moving on swiftly he noticed a swarthy looking character with a bright yellow hat standing next to the front entrance of Theotaku National Bank, looking devious, at least Polyman assumed he was looking devious because his hat obscured his face. Gliding downwards until he had reached the ground Polyman stuck up on the villainous looking individual, blue robes, yellow hat and a strange seductiveness about the character told Polyman all he needed to know, after all this wasn?t the first time he?d caught this particular Supervillain. A sly but quiet cackle erupted from the evil-doer?s mouth, although again his mouth and face were hidden by a darkness shrouding his face, all that was visible of his face were a pair of evil but sexy looking yellow eyes. Once again altering his body Polyman assumed the shape of a mailbox, hiding right behind the nefarious being trying to catch him in the act. Within moments another evil snicker echoed forth from the villain, the door of the bank crept open as he moved inside, obvious this evildoer had not yet learned that crime didn?t pay. DragonWarrior: [To Bank Staff] EVERYONESES ON THE FLOOR, except teh womenses who can dance around sexily while pilfer the money from this place. Polyman watched with mild amusement as a pair of women actual started to dance in a rather sensual manner. Obviously they were new to Otaku City as most people knew that DragonWarrior, behind his virile façade was actually impotent and didn?t score much. He waited until a large sack of money was tied to DragonWarrior?s pants before he pounced, the Supervillain let out a cry of anguish as he scrutinised the hero. The women had stopped dancing and were now cowering on the floor just like everyone else, except of course for Zidargh, who being the bank manager was upstairs in his office, completely oblivious that his bank was being robbed. DragonWarrior?s yellow eyes narrowed to slits, in a certain light he might actually have looked rather fearsome, but Polyman had already caught and imprisoned him too many times to be fooled. Polyman knew DragonWarrior was a master of the black arts of the mage, he could also drown small animals with the amount of cologne he used. The intensity of said aroma was actually making Polyman feel rather light-headed, perhaps this was a new weapon in his nefarious foe?s arsenal. DragonWarrior: [Chuckles diabolically] Is my super-sexy-dizzifying cologne making you feel rather vertiginous Polyman ? Polyman: Well it appears someone has been reading the Thesaurus since the last time I put him in prison. DragonWarrior: [Growling] Bite me you jackweed fucktard. Polyman: [Placing his fists on his hips and pushing out his chest in a very superhero-esque manner] Calling me a jackweed fucktard is one thing, but nobody tells me to bite them. [Launches himself at the evil vertically challenged mage] For some reason DragonWarrior was now dressed in the ensemble of a Spanish bull-fighter, cape and all, although his face was still obscured by his silly hat. Polyman was left bewildered as to how DragonWarrior had managed to change his clothes in the time it took for him to launch himself at the villain, in fact even DragonWarrior seemed confused by this, a large ?WTF ?!!? appearing as a thought bubble near his head. Waving the cape he attempted to provoke Polyman into charging at him again, though Polyman wasn?t nearly that stupid, in fact he was rather brainy, and kind and attractive, and many things that DragonWarrior wasn?t. For some reason DragonWarrior seemed to able to hear this and raised his middle finger at the narrator. Snickering the evildoer managed to produce a large and dangerous looking custard-pie launcher from somewhere in the pockets of his garments. Firing several of these explosive pastries at the hero DragonWarrior succeeded in causing Polyman to slip and fall to the floor, injuring his well toned backside. DragonWarrior: Muhahahaha no Superhero is strong enough to defeat my custard-pie launcher, it?s slipperiness will allow me to escape with my newly acquired cash and take over Otakuboards. Then I?ll have all the womenses dress sexy and dance around me, and I?ll have James scrubbing the toilets at every public restroom for the rest of his life... [Continues monologuing for several more minutes, allowing Polyman to work out a way to defeat his weapon] Polyman: [Picking up a small and angry looking oldie] Stick this in your bong and smoke it !! [Fires member into the barrel of the launcher, jamming it] DragonWarrior: [Astounded] How in the name of Adam did you do that ?! STILL I HAVE AN ALTERNATE METHOD OF ESCAPE, HA HA FOOLISH STUPIDHERO I CAN NEVER BE DEFEATED !! [Activtes hidden jetpack in his boxers and flies out the sky light, only for them to stall and fly him right into the local Mod Station where is promptly taken into custody] Polyman: O...K... I did not see that coming... [Coughs loudly] Anyhoo stay safe citizens and remember: The Supers have got your back. [Quickly ducks out the front door while everyone else is still trying to figure out what happened to the villian] Several hours later Polyman found himself in the same spot he?d begun the day in, the sun was just going down and he was still trying to figure out exactly what had happened with DragonWarrior. Still he was happy that in a very odd way justice had been served, sighing quietly he relaxed back onto the flagpole, that was of course until he heard the high speed approach of the heroine that could have only been Celerity. Sure enough when he opened his eyes she was standing right there in front of him, a smile on her face, grinning she sat down next to the so-called ?Man of Steel?. He signed again before chuckling, he knew she wanted him to ask about her chase in Liberty earlier that day. Polyman: So how went the chase ? Celerity: Well I caught them in the end, a pair of n00bs tagging the walls with hyperlinks to other sites, Desbreko went Conan the Barbarian on them when we delivered them to the Mod-Station, they won?t be poking around OB any time so.. [Eyes flicker to something in the horizon] Polyman: What ? [Matches gaze to see a large zeppelin with the words ?TEH SUP4$ $UCK @$$? in large bold letters] You know the phrase Cel. Celerity: [Smiles] No rest for the weary. The two Supers jetted off, it was going to be a long night yet, but there was always a dawn at the end of it... -------------------- Cast Polyman - Kane Celerity - Annie DragonWarrior - Himself Mods on Cycles - Shinamru, Red Desbreko - Himself Zidargh - Himself Angry Oldie - Boba Fett Thoughts, ideas or comments are appreciated be they good, bad or indifferent. 10. Interesting, most interesting. I'm going to side with Alex and James on this one, because personally I agree with their point of view. Communism, or rather Socialism is in itself only an idea, no more, no less, an idea by a man Karl Marx who championed the position of the worker in society. Communism as we have seen it implemented in history is no less than the bastardisation of Marx's idea for a Utopian society, his idea was taken by other men, mostly notably Joseph Stalin and turned into a means to rule autocratically. Communism is not inherently evil, only in it's application can a label of "Good or Evil" be placed on it, of course the label is moot is the applied version of Communism is not pure as Marx would have had it. Communism is a perfect idea on paper, only when you add the human element to the equation do problems arise, because humans are naturally greedy or rather are more motivated by greed and the acquisition of wealth than other stimuli. Morpheus and Alton put forward the idea that modern society is based on the accumulation of wealth, the idea that the product and money are the defining aspects of our lives. Alton said that it is competition which makes is seek to better ourselves, financially yes that is true, we want to earn more money to be able to afford better things and more luxuries. However what if the money element was taken out of the equation, that everyone would be able to seek to better themselves without the requirement of finance. That is the perfect application of socialism, where everyone contributes and receives the same as everyone else, where people can seek to better themselves without needed money to do so, intellectual, spiritual, all within an arms reach. I am taking into account the fact that people would still have to work, but that is of course a necessity to the continuation of any society, and of course there would be those who wouldn't wish to work without the incentive of money hanging over them. Personally I would much rather live in the Perfect Communist society than a Perfect Democratic society, however as James said there is the possibility of having a Democratic Communist society as one is based on perfect Politics and the other is based on perfect economics.
  11. Interesting, most interesting. A fascinating read Alan, I can see now where your title of n00b hunter comes from. The stories themselves are well written, well paced and have a good sense of fluidity about them. I have to admit I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of the series when you get around to posting it.
  12.
Or it could be a huge set up for Episode VII, since Lucas doesn't want to die a poor man... Dias could be a major player, or perhaps even someone with more foresight than Palpatine. I'm going to poke around for some trivia to put up here later, should be interesting.
Perhaps but then again Lucas is one of the richest men in the entire film world so dying a poor man would be quite a challenge for him. Since we really don't know anything about Dyas we simply can't form solid facts about him or his part in the greater galactic events on the whole. Should be interesting to see what you come up with, after all you are the Star Wars Guru here Dave, if I remember your title correctly.
  13. Interesting, most interesting. Well I'm going to side with the general consensus on this one, definitely an intriguing and unique RPG idea, it should generate some interesting once it hit the Inn. You seem to have been able to take the more interesting parts of certain Animes and combined them together to form something rather fascinating.
  14.
That concerns me a little- did you mean this one wasn't as funny? Most of the first part I forced myself to write when I was trying to finish it two months ago and I didn't actually go over it to try refining anything, so it might be a little more lacklustre than the rest. Either way, things really pick up in the second part; at least, I think so.
I don't really know Hugo, I just didn't see anything very laugh-out-loud funny about it, yes there was subtle things that made me chuckle, but overall I just felt it wasn't as funny as previous stuff. It's probably just me as my head was a little more than screwed up last night, but if you say the second part of this is going to be better then I'll take your word on it.
The next new chapter will feature more members, I promise ^_^;
Well we'll just have to wait and see who they are then won't we.
  15. I'm with DragonWarrior on this one, an intriguing story, though I have to admit I didn't notice anything rather humorous about it. I can't wait to see the concluding part, the storyline itself as well as the characters lead to a very shadowy, and perhaps as you've this made, you might a few more chapters while you're at it.
  16. Indeed it is, however in this case all the speculation in the world would help. I just watched the scene where Obi-Wan informs the Council about Master Dyas and I have to admit that there did seem something strange about their body language. Perhaps we will find out more about mysterious the Jedi Master in Episode III, though again that does not seem likely, unless of course Lucas is keeping that very secret. After all can anyone explain the reason they change Old Anakin's appearance at the end of ROTJ to young Anakin, all we were told was that it had something to do with Episode III.
  17. Penguin: WHAT ain't no country I ever heard of !!
  18. Alright Lunai is definitely the winner is this case, I was actually thinking that line when I posted the picture. I was hoping that people might get a little more creative rather than just playing off the name part but c'est las vie.
  19. Livewire had been watching the exchange silently, his eyes consistently moving trying to catch a glimpse of any possible trace of the enemy. The banks of snow made them stand out against the background, however in the right conditions it could turn into an advantage, he crouched low to the ground, the freezing cold of the snow making him grimace internally, sighing he moved on quickly, his objective was to get those doors disabled. His left hand rested against his taser, even though his radar told him the area was clear, it wasn?t paranoia that make Livewire do this, it was simply a case of being prepared. The snow crunched beneath his feet as his moved, he could see lights coming from the complex indicating he wasn?t far from his target, he moved his right hand to his radio, quietly activating it. Livewire: Sniper Falcon this is Livewire, any enemy activity near the doors ? Sniper Falcon: Livewire this is Falcon, negative the doors are clear. The doors were now only a couple of meters from his present position, his taser had since been removed from it?s holster, apart from his own footsteps there was no indication of any enemy movement. He continued quickly, his peripheral vision still watching for even the slightest oddity, as he reached the doors he could see the locking mechanism wasn?t all that high-tech, quickly removing his tool pack he began work. With fifteen seconds the door was open and Livewire smiled silently to himself, obviously Falcon had been watching as his radio echoed her voice. Sniper Falcon: Finished ? Livewire: Let?s move. Silently he darted through the doors, his taser was now set to stun and kept at eye level, ready for use, should the need arise. Quickly the other members of the team moved through the door, Livewire and Panther exchanged silent nods, the former being the oldest on the team. The three moved up the stair, Livewire leading the way with Raptor watching their six, the tower was inhabited and they?d have to be careful to keep their presence unknown until the very last second. Sticking close to the walls he manoeuvred his way towards the top of the tower, their footsteps sounded silently off the metal stairs, he could see clouds of greyish smoke, as well hear conversation, indicating that they were right upon their target.

    Pok
Another thing I'm hoping for is that you'll be able to catch every Pokemon just between Diamond and Pearl. If they try and milk the franchise even more, in the same way they did with R/S, FR/LG, and Colosseum, I'm really going to be pissed. You could catch all 250 of the original set just between Red and Blue, and you could catch all of the new 100 or so Pokemon just between Gold and Silver, and they better go back to that. You shouldn't have to trade between five games to be able to get every Pokemon.
Yes that was one of the few things I'd have been concerned about when my attention was first drawn to this, though I must admit even between myself and my brother we were never able to fully complete a Red/Blue Pokédex. If the case is that one has to have access to five different Pokémon games to complete either Pearl of Diamond then it would really kill the series in the eyes of fans. Still tell that to the guys at Gamefreak and Nintendo who just want to make money as opposed to delivering an original game once again.
  21. Alright, here's the picture, it's pretty vague so there should be room for some good stuff.
  22.
Just a question to everyone. Who do you believe Sifo Dyas is/was? Will we ever find out? I'll express my views later.
Well I remember about a year back on StarWars.com they had a profile in the Databank section claiming that Count Dooku and Sifo Dyas were in fact one in the same person. Now later that entry was retracted because simply it didn't make sense with the actual charatcers themselve, unless of course the Jedi Council are using the same "He's gone to the Dark Side so really he's dead" that Obi Wan fed Luke about Anakin. However I do not think that that is the case in this matter, personally I would say that either Dooku or Sidious sent an agent to Kamino to pose as Master Dyas and order the creation of the clones, it seems the most likely explanation. As Dave pointed out this may be a character whom we will never see in a greater light, unless of course a novel detailing his life is released in the EU, however that does not seem likely.
  23. Interesting, most interesting. Well I said I'd have a look in on this yesterday though it seems to have been resolved since then, I did agree with Annie on her point that a lot of people don't remember to read to updates regularly (since they're sometime quite far apart). I have to admit that I'm guilty of forgetting to read the updates, but the Sticky Thread should help infinitely in the matter. I'd say it's just a case that people tend to be a bit forgetful about new things, but in time we all adjust, I've been around long enough to know that.
  24. Ken has pretty much summed up what I was going to say, in times of depression your family and friends are some of the most important people you can turn to. I went through a very rough patch a few months ago and at first I resented the help my parents tried to give me, believing that I could solve the problem on my own. However when my granduncle died of cancer in July I realised that I needed some serious help for my depression, as of now I'm seeing a councillor one a week for the foreseeable future. All I can really say is that your family will always look out for your better interests, trust them and accept their support and there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
  25. Interesting, most interesting. Well I've only read the first few chapters of Lord of the Flies and a few subsequent extracts after that for my Honours English class in the Leaving Cert, however I think this would make a fascinating story. Now whether that story is a parody or a serious RPG, or whatever you want to do I would be intrigued to see the end result. The story itself is easily spoofed, although if it were made into an RPG I think it would be slightly more interesting as a serious drama or mild horror.
