Writing The Legend of Otaku Hollow [PG-13]
Gavin replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
Sorry, Gavin. I've already started on the new sequel, which should premeir later this week if I've got the time. It's called The Cafe At The Edge of The World[/b']. Watch for it.
I shall indeed endeavour to keep and eye out for that, if it's half as well written and comic as this story has been then it will be well worth the wait. Just one question Gavynn, you're not going to feature any members from your Nudes 'R Us forums are you ? That would be a little more than strange.
P.S.: *Sigh* It's incredibly sad when OB members don't know who kuja is (I hope you're all just pulling my leg - but the below is just incase you're not. > -
Interesting, most interesting. Death to me represents the end of our physical forms and the ascension into the afterlife in another form. As a Catholic I believe fully in the idea of an afterlife, be that going to Heaven for those who've led a good life, or Hell for those who've not. I suppose the concept of a ending scares people, the idea that the sum total of your life means nothing or rather very little to those outside your family and friends after you die, which is what I think Chabichou was getting at. I can't prove the existence of an afterlife, no more than I could prove it doesn't exist, all I know is that according to my beliefs it's there at the end of my life.
I have the original Star Wars Trilogy on tape as well. That and the original videos before they were one complete box set. I'm sure they're not worth much now... but in the year 4582, after World War VI destroys most of the planet, who knows...
Such clear clairvoyance into the future, I was wondering if you could predict next weeks Irish Lotto numbers for me, my cash supply is running a bit low ;). That is of course unless World War III is going to occure before then, though if it does I guess none of us will be here to talk about it. Is it just me or has the 411 degraded to a point where it's just you, Dave, Alex and me talking ? I mean sure we make up about 750 replies between us but damn. Anyone fancy starting up those Star Wars based quizzes again or something to try and keep us entertained until Episode III comes out ?

Interesting storyline Legacy, it's been a while since I've seen one set in the Metal Gear universe although I reckon this might just have what it takes. [Edit] Alright Sign Up complete, I hope it's up to scratch. Name: Kane, Malcolm A. Codename: Livewire Rank: Captain Serial Number: 022-3. D/O/B: July 2nd, 1981 (29 years old) Special Skill: There is no piece of electronic equipment that Livewire cannot crack or if there is he hasn?t come across it yet, he can crack anything from a simple keycode lock or a NASA supercomputer and all done in perfect silence, he learned a while back that silence is indeed golden. As well as being the tech head, Malcolm has some training as a field medic, patch jobs and administering the right drugs are pretty much what he?s capable of, however he has some experience in field surgery. Weapon of Choice: Highly modified taser-gun, a strange choice for a normal soldier but for Livewire it?s the perfect weapon, capable of delivering either stun or fatal dose of electricity to the target it makes no noise and leaves no mess. Should his taser be out of commission the he does have some advanced training in general arms and hand-to-hand combat. Notes/Appearance: Notes/Personality: Quiet to a point that most normal people would think him a mute, Livewire is one to act and then if necessary speak, though more often than not his actions speak louder than his words. Though Kane is not overtly friendly, he does make gestures once trust has been earned, these can range from small acts of kindness to larger and more noticeable ones. Mostly stoical and down-to-business in character, he has been known to be slightly more social when the time feels right, even cracking a joke, although such an event will occur only once in a blue moon. Notes:/Past: Kane was born in the Republic of Ireland nearly thirty years ago, quiet child growing up he had a strange fascination with electricity and electronics. Finished high school and entered Irish Army as an engineer, eventually be posted with the Army Rangers as a technical expert, promoted to the rank of sergeant before being sent with Peace Keeping force to East Timor. The mission details are classified, while there it is known that several soldiers were killed by what is believed to have been a mole in the unit, Kane himself was found shot in the back with severe internal bleeding, he was flown to the United States for treatment and recuperation. He was debriefed several weeks later and promoted for bravery in the field, after which he served once again as a technical expert, earlier year he was sent to the United States under another Black Ops mission, the detail of which are also classified.

Writing The Legend of Otaku Hollow [PG-13]
Gavin replied to Dragon Warrior's topic in Creative Works
And so Otaku Hollow comes to an end, the Postless Banner was unmasked and then died from Syk3 exposure, Dr Kane got a happy ending in the form of a promotion and a 200 post boost to his post count. DragonWarrior got his forums with a rather interesting title and James cleared out any opposition to his hierarchy, of course we can never forget the brave sacrifice of Solo Tremaine in the battle against the vile kuja. Overall Gavynn it was a brilliant story full of wit, wonder and whimsical characters, I enjoyed it as much as every other piece of comic literature you produce for the awaiting masses. Also if you do a sequel to this I then I would be most honoured if you would use the following title: Otaku Hollow II: The Search for Solo Yes I realise that it is a little cliché and plagiarised but it just fits the story so well, after all it would be the search for Solo and all those who were banned under kuja's evil attacks. -
The Incredibles was finally released in Ireland last weekend, and I must saw it was one of the most enjoyable film experiences I've ever had, definitely one of the Buy on DVDs list. I went in there with fairly high expectations from what I'd read here but it simply blew me away, I liked the film so much that I saw it twice in the space of 24 hours, on both Friday and Saturday night, yes that might have been a little sad. The whole "Being Special" theme as Deathbug pointed out was something that I found very noticeable, I was actually a little sad to see Buddy's gift go to waste when indeed he could have been a great Superhero. The whole frustration issue between Violet and Dash regarding the use of their powers was also very noticeable, Dash's belief that his powers were something he should be free to use and Violet?s frustration at not being normal. I think Syndrome?s line where he tells Mr Incredible that once he sells his inventions to everyone and "then when everybody is special, no one will be" is the quintessential point they're trying to make. Overall I thought it was a great little film and if any Pixar film deserved a sequel (apart from Toy Story since it already had one) then it would definitely be this. Also Elastigirl was played by Holly Hunter, not Jodie Foster.
Eh James, I'll always be around... Heh. If you can cook up your RPGs according to the ideas, you can count me in. But I certainly see what your saying, the higher quality members don't seem to be here regular. I'm not a higher quality member, but I'm definitely not around as much as I used to be.
That is complete nonsense Zidargh, you're easily one of the most talented role-players on all of OB, anything you launch in the Arena is always bursting to the brims with quality and imagination. Saying you?re not a higher quality member is like me saying my name's not Gavin, it's simply not true. However I do see where you're coming from, there's simply very few high quality role-players from previous version still knocking around to get together, heck the only reason I'm still around is because I can't seem to leave. In saying that however I do think the we are doing our part in showing the majority newbies what can be accomplished if they're willing to put the effort in. It was something Ken (Deathknight) said to me in a conversation a while back, those of us still around from "back in the day" are kind of training newbies as the next generation, or something along those lines. Though there's not a person here who can claim they're perfect at role-playing, as we're all continually learning, some of us have just been learning longer than others.
Perhaps he could... donate it. To me. As for the video, burn it to DVD before it wears out. I have all of the SE burned to DVD, and just as well because my tapes are beginning to wear out. I've been trying to get ahold of some OT tapes to burn to DVD, but so far I only have ROTJ. It's all made possible by my school's video lab. :) Before I was born one of my uncles sold most of his Star Wars action figures at a yard sale. Today they'd be worth a pretty penny. Alas, I have but a few of them. I'm even starting to get agitated over some of my older Rogue Squadron novels beginning to yellow with age. I'm distraught, to say the least. Ideas on preserving books in a fashion that'd make them readable?
Heh nice try Dave but if there's anyone Gavynn is likely to donate it to it's going to be me, a fellow Gavin ;). As for the video I'm afraid I neither have the equipment to burn it onto a DVD nor the desire to, the tape is still in near perfect condition because it's only watched about three times a year. The sound and picture are perfect and I can watch Star Wars as it should still be without Lucas' idiotic tinkering and so called "improving". Most of my Star Wars novels are in perfect condition even after all these years, my only piece of advice on keeping them preserved would be to keep them in a locker or storage cabinet where there's no dust. That or place them in those plastic storage pouches used for sandwiches and stuff, the little sealable bags.

I'd like to point out that there's already a thread exactly like this one in Play It which is the correct forum for this since it pertains to videogames. Still I might as well give it a go. Dr Phil: Today on Dr Phil, redneck clowns from Alabama on why homosexuality is a sin...
I do have the cover. What's cool about it is it also comes with a little page or booklet that explains what's occurring in the movie during each song. I thought that was nifty. There's also pictures from the movies on the cover (which is nothing special, but I have the cover so wee!) And the best part is that it's in mint, if not perfect condition. The record is fine and the only thing wrong I saw with the case/cover was dust! What a find, indeed!
Indeed it is a excellent find, especially in mint condition though I suspect that Gavynn's love of Star Wars would make it a near impossibility for him to sell it. Remind me of that episode of the Simpson's where Martin Prince's mother goes to sell Comic Book Guy all that rare SW merchandise she found in the basement. I'd personally advise you to store that away some place and enjoy it for the rest of time, it's like the first edition Star Wars videotape an uncle of mine has, yes the new DVDs may have better sound and picture quality but it just feels so much better.
DeathBug's the one holding the party, not Domon ^_^; And yes, as far as the RPG goes he is- the party's scheduled for Friday and today's only Monday.
[Slaps forehead] My bad, I've been inactive in it for so long I had to spend about half an hour today just brushing up on the plot line and characters, both students and faculty. Just one thing I'm still not 100% on Solo and I'm sorry if it's been asked before and I just have seen it but could you give us a list of the full teaching staff for the school. I know you said there is only a small staff but if you could give a small run down of the them it'd be rather handy. -
Metroid, the ultimate brain food. Concise and to the point.

As I said on MyOtaku all the ideas you've got lined up for the future are nothing short of intrigueing, Tim Burton's Zelda (not a bad title) being the one I'm most looking forward to, although the Matrix one is also rather interesting. The Maverick Hunter series is also something I'd love to have a part in, if you decide to reopen it I'd be most interested to give it a go.

Interesting, most interesting. I've owned and played most of the Pokémon games released so far and I have to admit my patience with the series is wearing rather thin, I admit that Sapphire had a rather good storyline to it which I enjoyed but there was just too little different. Like Des I'd like to see some new innovations in Pearl and Diamond, and since the DS is supposed to be the innovation machine I think we might see some. I think the battling system in Pokémon will never change, the whole newbie/badges aspect maybe but I have to admit that's half the fun of it. I made it my business to be 5/10 levels that the next gym leader so I never really had any problems, though as with all RPGs you start from the very beginning. Heck I wondered how Auron had defeated Sin when he's so weak when you first use him at the start of Final Fantasy X, that's just the way it is with RPGs. All and all I'm interested but not expecting any miracles, my only hope is they get rid of those awful Pokémon competitions.
I did ask if anybody minded some time ago, but Methuselah was the only one who answered, heh. If you really want, certain characters can be exempt from certain lessons for certain reasons; the Kendo lesson is specifically for Soushi, while everyone else does Cookery. But either way, if characters don't like lessons, it should hopefully make things more interesting anyway. Not all school lessons are fun ^_~
Yes I can just see Veggie having a "great" time in Hair and Beauty, that said I'm going to have to go and brush up on the characters and staff for the RPG. Anyway if we do get the odd mass brawl against members of staff then it should just make things more interesting, although it's the nightlife of the students that seems to generate the most entertainment. Just one last thing: Is Domon still holding that party or did we miss it ? -
This is dead ? I think not Hugo. Though I admit I?m going to have to go back and brush up on the Timetable. --------------------- September 6th - 14:08 If Veggie ate any faster, chances were he?d get sick, still for some reason he just couldn?t seem to eat his fill. He?d already scoffed down about four lunches, and with that almost eight litres of water, he?d have to ask Jeeves about it when he got home, but then again Jeeves didn?t act like most Sayitagains and as such he mightn?t know what was wrong with the young Prince. He watched as other human students moved in and out through the cafeteria, he had Transformation in a few minutes, another class he had already mastered, at least to a degree. School would be finished soon at any rate and he be able to head out for a few hours, Villain Ethics had gone to same way as it always did, ?Come up with a mad scheme to conquer the Earth... Catch the Hero and imprison him in an easily escapable position... Monologue... Blah blah blah?. He wondered how any Supervillain on Earth had even come close to World-domination, but then again he supposed that at least one idiotic scheme like that had to succeed at some point or another, chance simply wouldn?t allow otherwise. Pilling up the remains of his meals, empty dishes, plastic covers and bottles he manoeuvred skilfully over to the nearest bin, that was until some imbecile junior decided to slam into him and knock the pile of rubbish he?d be carrying all over the floor. Taking in a deep breath he closed his eye for a moment, the last time someone had done something like that he?d nearly been suspended over his reaction, well suspended might have been the wrong word. In public Okari had castigated him, but once they had got away from the crowds he had actually informed him that his evil nature had improved by a large degree and that he was in fact rather impressed. Veggie?s eyes met with the junior who?d bumped into him, instantly the blood rushed from the boy?s face as he realised whom it was he?d knocked into, Veggie had been counting silently from one to ten in the hope of keeping his temper under control. The junior had instantly begun to pick up the knocked rubbish until he could put it all in the bin, Veggie by then had managed to keep his temper in check and merely walked past the frightened youngster before turning back and gruffly thanking him. The cafeteria had gone quite since the boy had knocked into Veggie, now they were even more silent to see the alien adolescent thank somebody, it must have looked rather odd. He moved across the hall towards the classroom where Transformation was held, his balled fists were actually shaking at this stage, he needed to take his pent up aggression out on someone or something, punching the wall was something most humans would do, unfortunately Veggie was more likely to take down the wall rather than feel better. Transformation was not a class he enjoyed, all Sayitagains were born with the ability to transform into giant apes, unfortunately it took a lot of effort to revert form after that, he remembered the first time he?d attempted it he had to wear one of those translation tags like Sabre wore for over a week. On the plus side he could go a bit mental and wreck a few Mechs and blame it on the transformation, however he got the feeling that this wasn?t something he would be allowed to do twice in the one year. 23 Minutes later Veggie watched as Sabre entered the classroom, frowning in both frustration and maybe surpirse, he?d got to know Sabre fairly well over the last few years, their adversarial act actually made them better friends. Veggie had been late getting into the class and as such was forced to take a seat at the back, unfortunately for him those at the back were nearly always picked for transformation practice, something he loathed beyond anything. Sabre quickly took the seat next to Veggie in the hope that he wouldn?t be noticed as being late, in a quite voice Veggie turned to him to enquire about his entrance, he knew as well as anyone else that Sabre was banned from taking this class. Veggie: [Frowning] What?re you doing here Sabre ? Sabre: [Gruffly] Wait until you hear the news...

Interesting, most interesting. When I get stressed, which happens far too often for my liking my usual treatment is listening to some of the more soothing tracks on my Michael Jackson Number Ones CD, stuff like Human Nature, Don't stop 'til you get enough and Black or White help me relax and unwind. Classical music and Opera have the same effect although off the top of my head I can't think of any of the artists' names. Reading also helps me unwind though I'm not a casual reader and as such I tend to read and read until the book is finished, often leading to insomnia. Like Corey and Annie I do find the odd pixelated killing-spree to be relaxing, there's nothing like spotting a drug dealer in San Andreas and kicking eight tons of crap out of him. Any thing Star Trek (except Enterprise), Star Wars or Stargate related, be they TV Episodes, Books or Movies also let me kick back and just enjoy. Bit of exercising and weight lifting also helps a lot, get the seratonin going for that natural high.

I started playing Viewtiful Joe again a while ago, now I've not got very far in it, I think I'm on Chapter Four,
or whichever chapter has you running around the airship with the missiles at the start. I can clear the level but I just can't seem to get to the end.
I found it to be a pretty challenging game right from the start but one particular boss fight which stuck out at me was the one against
Hulk Davidson
. I just found it to be a complete nightmare and even with upped it took me a long time to beat him, on the contrary the next boss after him
that Shark Guy
took no time to beat. I guess Davidson was just a case of getting to grips with the combat for the first time.

Interesting, most interesting. I can see where Sciros is coming form with this, considering I'm working off a 16.8 Kbps connection at the moment there's nothing I hate more than a 500x100 pixel image in a signature. In saying that I also agree with Siren, just because a post is short does not mean it isn't relevant, however grammer and spelling do play and important part. In this instance I agree with James, it's down to the user themselves to make sure their posts are up to scratch as well as having their signature at a reasonable length. I remember back in V3 before the avatar restriction we put in place people would have huge avatars, one that comes to mind would be Sephiroth's Sephiroth avatar which was about 100x500 pixels in size.
It's a Gavin thing. We are both Gavins. And I believe your scheme with the whole mistletoe to the back has given me a few ideas of my own. Something never attempted before. Something possibly far-out devious. Only something a Gavin like myself can conjure up! I'll see if it works >:^D
[Arches fingers in a Monty Burns-esque fashion] Excellent. Anyway good luck with the scheme I hope it works out as well for you as it did me, but your natural Gavin sexyness should leave them without a chance.
Upon digging through my mum and dad's old records, I came across something mildly sexy. The original Star Wars soundtrack on a record! God my oh! So I took out the record player we have and tried it. I need help adjusting the thing because I'm not very fluent in... well... in crap. But wowness :^D That record is the shiz! If I could burn it onto a CD, I would (and it's possible to burn it onto a tape, but I don't use cassettes). Is this a treasure or what? Or do you all have one and want to make me cry? :(
Thank God someone finally replied to this, I thought it was going to go dead again for sure, though I suppose with 1450 replies we've covered a heck of a lot of stuff that could be dealt with. As for that soundtrack I have but six words God damn it, I want that, that really is some find Gavynn and you'd be mad not to keep your hands wrapped around it for fear someone would try and pilfer it. If you do get the chance to burn it onto a CD then that sounds good but I suppose you're already able to get stuff like that over the Internet.

Interesting, most interesting. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Christmas films, as they tend to be repeated every year without a break, though in saying that there are some Christmas films which I do enjoy watching. Jingle all the Way: There's just something about this film that I really enjoy watching when it's on, perhaps it's the fact that we get to see The Governator in a role we don't see him in often. The storyline is a little silly and the events are slightly madcap at times but over all it's just a nice Christmas film with a happy ending. The Santa Clause: It's been years since I've actually sat down at watched the film with Tim Allen, actually the last time I saw it was Christmas two years ago on RTE One. I can't remember exactly what it is about the film that I like, I suppose it's just there with Jingle all the Way, a nice film to be able to watch at Christmas with your family. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: Gene Wilder is simply brilliant in the role of the chocolate maker from Dahl's children's novel. I learned recently that it's over 25 years old at this stage and Johnny Depp is to start as Wonka in a remake of the film that's due out in the next year of so.

Interesting, most interesting. Well apart from talking to myself and biting my nails and cuticles, though I don't do that nearly as much as I used to anymore, I don't really have any bad habits. One of my worst habits though is pretending to listen to people while I'm doing something else, like watching TV or using the Internet. It's just a case of me going "Yeah... Yeah... Uhuh..." until they realise I'm not listening and go Conan the Barbarian on my ***. It's amazing how annoyed people can get when they realise they're being annoyed, sometimes I do it just for the fun of it, though I suppose that's another bad habit.

Interesting, most interesting. And here I thought I was the only one trying to use mistletoe like a sneak to get women ;), though since it was another Gavin I guess I can accept it as being linked to the name. Most Christmas' I try something new as my plans often tend to be stolen and used by others the following year, though they inevitably fail because the girls are prepared from the year before. Last year I tried out my newest scheme, putting the mistletoe on an unsuspecting victim's back, or somewhere where they might not notice. Then why I say "You've got something on your back" and then she asks me to take it off (that didn't sound right) I hold it up and say "Oh mistletoe, what a surprise... Damn I'm a sneak, but at the end of the day it works.
