Sorry it's taken this long to post. Obsidian gazed at the crowds of people eagerly making their way through the streets, he often wondered what it would be like to be human, to be a creation of God above. He sipped away at the hot cup of tea in his hand, though he didn't need to eat or drink he found the process helped to keep him incognito. The tea was quite hot and sent a warm feeling down his throat as he drank, most androids created felt cold to the touch and lacked what people he met described as the "human quality". He often amused himself by wondering if the same people knew the man they had spoken with was himself an android, a machine created in the image of man. Though amused by such a thought it did bring to mind the question he had long sought the answer to, did he have a soul, if he died would there be anything of him to go on. His breathing was simulated, his pulse automatic, they performed other tasks than just giving off the appearance of humanity though this left Obsidian asking himself if his soul too was something which could be crafted by a group in a laboratory, and not a gift from God. His eyes flickered from his tea to the crowd before finally resting upon the book he had been reading. It was not the first time he had read the book and more than likely it would not be his last, but this was a book with special meaning a meaning that few others had the scope to comprehend. "Remember, that I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed. Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded. I was benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend. Make me happy, and I shall again be virtuous."* He set the book down onto the table and mulled what he had read over in his mind, he too was an artificial creature although he had been lucky to avoid the scorn and hatred of his creator. His eyes traced across the words on the leather of the front cover, it amazed Obsidian that a book so old had such meaning in the modern world. Obsidian: Frankenstein, he murmured, thou art to blame for thine misfortunes, were thy heart righteous and thy soul fair then the creature of your creation would have been of innocence and good. Instead thy chose to hate him for a thing so small as his appearance, thy crafted his body and so it was your sin, to blame him and leave him in a world so cruel was beyond repentance. He wondered if his father had thought along the same lines as he created Obsidian, he ran his index along his palm, tracing his lifeline. Such small details he thought amazing, for his father to have gone to such lengths in crafting Obsidian showed a love that Frankenstein's monster had never known. The sun was beginning to set and he wondered if he would see her tonight, tracking her took little effort although at times she appeared as a wandering ghost, her face pale as death. Obsidian placed the book into the pocket of his jacket, he rose from his seat leaving money for the tea and food he'd consumed, now the hunt began, now he became the monster of loathing... ------------------ Not too shabby for my first post, let's hope we see some more after this one. * Quote taken from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
  2. Alright let's get this show on the road. Sage's gazed was focused upon the troops who had made it back from the assault, they had been caught in a trap unforeseen and had paid a high price. He leaned wearily upon his staff, it was one of the few items he had carried with him through his life and had seen him through some precarious situations. A young Skilled White Magician was laying on the ground near him, his eyes gazed up at Sage, a mixture of fear and pain. Sage's eyes scanned the boy wondering if he'd survive the night, he laid his hand on the head of his companion trying to comfort him, before long however he saw the last breathe escape his lungs and dissipate into the air. Sage murmured slowly, an offering for the boy to find peace. He leaned upon his staff once again to find some source of comfort before meeting with Dain, he had great respect for their leader but sometimes he thought Dain could do with a few more years. He walked slowly towards the large circular tent that Dain inhabited, a pair of Skilled Dark Magicians standing guard, he waved his hand as they saluted, today was not a day for formality. His eyes took a moment to adjust to the lighting level before noting that there were in fact several figures at the table, they ranged from the Dark Magician to the elusive Strike Ninja and finally the Dark Flare Knight. Sage stroked his chin guessing he had come in on a meeting, there was one chair left empty on one side of Dain and Sage got the impression his entrance was not unexpected. Striding towards his seat he looked at the expressions of the faces of his counterparts, the Dark Magician was sporting an look of severe annoyance while the Strike Ninja's face was partially hidden and so unreadable. This led him finally to that of his young cousin the Dark Flare Knight, his face was unmistakable forlorn at their losses but there was something else in his face that Sage could not identify, before he could make a better guess a voice interrupted his chain of thought. Dain: Marshal Sage thank you for joining us, please take your seat and we'll continue the briefing...

  6. I have to agree with most of what Terra has said, some of the names you've come up with here are great (my personal favourite being Really Envious of the Big Empire Lads). As I said in our conversation Bill I'm not the best at Star Wars locations but I'll at least try and spoof a few places for you. I must admit though that I disagree with Terra about making this into a Fan-Fic, I reckon if you give this half a chance it would do quite well as an RPG. However one problem that might arise would by people taking characters not based upon them, which could be an annoyance as you seem to have gone to a lot of trouble in coming up with the names. Other Locations: Alderaan - Baldymann Naboo - Achoo I may think of more but for now that's all I've got.

  9. Edit: Rewrote Biography ending, the entire Personality section and added a photograph of Van. Nice of you to sneak this on us without any prior warning, I have to admit I've been looking forward to this since our last conversation. Name: Gavin Ambrose, known mostly as "Doc" or "Van". Age: 54 (Looks approximately 34 however) Sex: Male Specialty: Ship's Doctor Bio: Gavin Edward Ambrose was born on July 2nd 2047 in the Republic of Ireland, the same year as the ill-fated Lewis and Clarke mission. His father Malcolm Ambrose was a Doctor by profession and was overjoyed at the birth of a son, his mother Fiona Ambrose was a Biologist who worked in a military R&D facility. Van was to be first of two sons (His younger brother David was born on February 17th 2049) and from youth expressed a deep interest and almost connection with the life around him. Malcolm noticed his young son's affinity for life and thought quietly to himself that he'd made a good doctor. Years passed and it was apparent that Van possessed a very keen mind, he easily worked his way through school and topping his class in the Leaving Certificate. His passion for life hadn't diminished if anything it had grown stronger, and at 18 he chose to go on to follow in his father's footsteps in becoming a physician. He found his chosen profession to be at times almost blissful in terms of enjoyment, other people chose Medicine because it paid well later in life, Van chose it because he loved life itself. At the age of 23 he began going out with one of his co-workers by the name of Karen Price. Karen was everything Van had wanted in life, she was funny, caring, compassionate and possessed the same love for her job as Van did. The two were married a year and a half later on May 19th 2072 in what was to be one of the most memorable days in Van's life. After a few months Van decided to move back home to Clonmel City in Tipperary with his new wife and took over his dad's practice. Almost a year after that on August 17th 2073 Karen gave birth to Edward David Ambrose Van's first and what proved to be only son. As much as Van enjoyed his work in his father's practice he just felt that something was missing, something he couldn't put his finger on. Then one night about 10 years later Van came home to find police waiting at his front door, they told Van that there'd been and car crash and that he'd have to come down to the morgue to identify a pair of bodies who they believed were his wife and son. Van's soul seemed to shatter in that instant, every memory he had with them seemed to flood into his mind’s eye, the joy, the love and now the pain. Van knew that it was Karen and Edward even before they pulled off the sheet, his face went paler than death as he gazed upon lifeless bodies of his wife and son. Van seemed to turn to drink shortly after that, in the hope of making the pain go away, he would sit in his office with the blinds closed sipping away at some kind of alcoholic drink. In the end Van realised that he wouldn't drink away his sorrow and decided to leave Ireland for a few years to see the world, and hopefully get over what had happened. Van had seen horrors of the world, now he wished to see it's beauties, four years later in 2084 he returned to Ireland with a mind set on rebuilding his life. He decided to join the Army in the hope that it would help fill the remainder of the void that was still left in his soul, the first few weeks were the worst but eventually he was able to get over it and make new friends. Time progressed quickly for Van his already formidable skills in Medicine granted him early promotions in the Army, eventually reaching the rank of General at the age of 52. Two years later Van heard though "unofficial" channels about a mission to recover the recently reappeared Event Horizon, foregoing his Army title he volunteered under his medical credentials and was selected for the mission under the command of one Allen Chubbs. That was to be a mission that Van would never forget, for it was to change his life forever. Van set out on that mission as the Ship's doctor, a job which he believed would have him treating cases of space-sickness or possibly an injury caused by an over zealous engineer, he was wrong, very wrong. That was the mission from or very possibly to hell for the Bladerunner crew, which culminated in Van sacrificing himself by throwing himself and Weir in the gateway opened by Weirs engine aboard the Event Horizon. While there Van's body was genetically and physically altered by a force unknown and he was sent back through the portal before being rescued by Captain Chubbs. After his return the crew was forced to take down their fallen comrade Ruben Thorne and get back to Earth, Van was one of only four to have survived that accursed mission. They managed to escape the ship and after getting back to Earth Van settled into some well-deserved shore leave, although there was the oddity that he looked and physically read 20 years his junior. After a mere two weeks into his shore leave Van was called along with Sam, Trini and Allen to a strange meeting... Bah that was a damn long Bio but it does clear up a lot of stuff about Van. Personality: A kind, honest and very compassionate soul, Van Ambrose is the epitome of that which should be a Doctor, the reverence and preservation of life. As a child he was in awe of all life that surrounded him, from the mightiest Redwood to the tiniest fish, this trait has accompanied him through life and given him the strength he required to carry on. A wizened and intelligent man, there are few subjects which Van cannot hold a conversation on. He has seen the worlds beauties and horrors first hand, receiving wisdom and insight from both where other men would see only admire the beauty and loathe the horror. After the events of the previous mission one would understand if Van were to become more stoic in nature, however even after all the pain and agony of that mission Van's love of life and it's beauties and mysteries remain, as does his kind and caring soul. He is still morns for those who didn't make it on the Bladerunner and prays in the hope that they'll find peace in the glory of God. His willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good remains, as does his thanks to God for allowing at least some of his compatriots on the Bladerunner to have made it back home with him. These people are his new family and he will do anything to protect them. 10.
And a second, easier one: A form of red With fancy lace Brings greeting sweet and pink Although in truth I'm not as fair As Hallmark has you think.
You were indeed correct about my riddle Lore, fair play to you. And the answer to your second riddle is (or at least I believe is) a Rose. I'm guessing this from the first two clues. A form of red - Rosé With fancy lace - The rose's petals. Halmark - They have roses on their cards don't they. OK here's my second riddle. You are in a cold house in the winter. It is dark. You have one match. Answer: Ridge Another word for a cliff is a Ridge Adding the answer to por gives you a mush called Porridge I guess I'm meant to give a riddle now so here goes: I have billions of eyes yet I live in darkness, I have billions of ears yet only four lobes, I have no muscles yet I rule two hemispheres, What am I ? Yes that is the same riddle from my signature, unless somebody gets it I'm not going to give the answer.
  14. Since Bill have given me permission and we sorely lack members for the B.o.M I'll be signing up as three characters for this RPG, the final one is almost finished but I'll post all of what I've got done. I hope to be able to make it work but it'll be quite a challenge. My brain was absolutely addled when I picked their appearances so I admit they may not look 19 but Name: Victor Kane Code Name: Alloy (rarely goes by this name) Age: 19 Gender: Male Appearance: I know this looks a little old but it's the best I could do. Mutation/Powers: Victor's bloodstream and cells are host to a rare compound of metals, this compound which runs through his entire body is what gives Victor his powers. Victor has the ability to manipulate the alloy in his body to a mass degree, if he so wishes he can convert his entire bodily structure into this alloy. This leaves Victor looking an appearance and structure like a fluidic silvery metallic version of himself, in this form he can alloy objects to pass through him (bullets, shrapnel, projectiles etc.) with no harm although this does put some strain on his body. He can also reorder his physical size to become larger or smaller or even reduce himself to a puddle or liquid in order to pass through doors, windows or anywhere that has a gap through which liquid can pass through. Other ways he can manipulate the compound would be to replace the bones, tendons, muscles and joints of his body with the alloy granting him far greater strength, jumping ability and speed than any normal human. He can also cover his outer body with a hard coating of the alloy (similar to the mutant Colossus) as a form of incredibly durable armour. Originally From: Republic of Ireland Affiliation: Brotherhood of Mutants Current Location: On his way to the Brotherhood Mansion. Known Family: Adam Kane (Father), Bridget Kane (Mother), Fiona Kane (Twin sister, also a mutant) Personality: Cold, Victor is outwardly cold due to the life he has been forced to live for being a mutant, the betrayal of his parents for their research and the attacks and pain he's had to deal with for being different. Victor greatly distrusts most normal humans because of what happened to Fiona but that is not to say he hates most normal humans, however those humans who seek to destroy him or his friends will find his hatred and vengeance to have no bounds. Though outwardly cold Victor does have a softer, kinder side to him that is rarely seen, he has an affinity for animals because he feels they do not judge in the same way as humans do, but rather judge a person by their heart. His softer and more gentle side towards humans is limited to those who have gained his trust, respect and friendship, though at the moment that is limited to his sister Fiona (with whom he shares an unbreakable bond) and his friend and fellow mutant Malcolm. Though these feelings exist they do not surface too often unless that individual fits the above criteria, he tries to be friendly towards those new to the Brotherhood but his distrust of Pyro and Wanda often leaves them at loggerheads. He knows that the B.o.M isn't where he, Malcolm and Fiona should be but he hopes that eventually he'll be able to change the group for the better. Biography: Victor Kane was born on August 12th 1994 in the Republic of Ireland as the elder of a pair of twins, the other being his sister Fiona. Their father was one Adam Kane a renowned scientist in the field of Genetics and Genetic Manipulation, their mother Bridget was Adam's assistant and when they learned of their son's and daughter's "gifts" they decided to keep them under observation. They hoped that eventually this observation coupled with journals and samples of blood and tissue would culminate into the most accurate research on young mutants, the emergence of their powers and their behaviour. For what seemed to Victor and Fiona a normal childhood was not normal at all... The Kane family lived in one of the more exclusive parts of Dublin City, funded by a parent company in Genetics their abode doubled as both home for the children and workplace for their parents. It seemed that both children had inherited their parent’s keen intellect, as early as two years of age both children were speaking clearly and coherently as well as reading at an advanced level. Victor it seemed was the more sombre of the twins reading literature of a less jovial nature than that of his sister, his appearance and moods reflected that of his equally sombre father. When the time came for the young children to begin attending school they were immediately enrolled in the most expensive school catering for the intellectually gifted, this went against the wishes of their parents but the company funding their research believed that to fully understand the mutant mind they would have to experience a normal childhood. The Kane twins progressed in school like any normal children (well any normal 5-year-olds with IQs of 135), they made friends, engaged in social activities as well as gaining an education. Both twins had never even shown the slightest hint of their mutant abilities and as such their parents research was rather thin, that all changed on March 3rd 2007 when Victor first exhibited the signs of his now potent powers. It was any other Saturday for the 12 year old, he was playing with his sister in the garden when suddenly he felt his legs go out from under him, he fell to the ground in pain calling out for his father. When he father found Victor he observed that his son's legs appeared to be coated in some kind of hardened metal, excitedly his father called for Victor's mother to come out with some equipment so they could take samples. After a number of minutes the liquid metal appeared to re-enter Victor's body through his pores and he found he could move his legs again. His parents after gathering their samples and hurriedly writing up a summary of what had happened, brought Victor inside and questioned him on the sensations of what had happened as well as any idea of why it happened. Victor was still slightly frightened by what happened and so only gave short answers lacking any real clarity, his mother in what would appear to be her first maternal act asked that Adam allow Victor to rest for a few hours before continuing their research. Adam agreed and decided to go examine the samples of blood, cells and the metal they had taken from their son, Victor went to his room and decided to try and get some sleep after the days events. Over the course of the next few months Victor's powers (as well as those of his sister) began to manifest themselves more and more, Victor found that he could control the liquid to a degree as it encased his body. He hid this increase in control from his parents as they were too fascinated by their research to be bothered by their son's fears over this "gift", anytime he had spoken to them they had responded with only hollow acts of reassurance over what was happening to him. His sister's power being psychic in nature meant that Victor was not often alone in his thoughts, the two shared a bond together as with most twins but their was different as it was forged through their parents lack of love. Victor and Fiona agreed that they would always be there to take care of one another no matter what happened. The years passed and the twins at age 16 had completed their required academic test in the Leaving Certificate allowing them to go on to college, they had also gained formidable control over their powers with Victor now being able to alter his features to a degree. They decided that they wanted to go travel much to the horror of their parents who found it seriously compromising their work, what they did not know was that through Fiona's telepathy she and Victor had found out about their parents research and intentions. This knowledge was to culminate in an argument between father and son in which Victor vowed that he would not let his father continue his research, that night Victor and Fiona with money they had acquired left the house with a few possessions in order to begin a new life. On July 2nd 2010 they decided to leave Ireland and see other parts of the world, Victor had always been partial to Australia where as his sister preferred the States so in the end they decided to flip a coin, Fiona won so they decided to go to America. Once there they quickly learned about the events involving their kind and of a man called Charles Xavier, they had moved to Boston and begun study in college thanks to a scholarship they had achieved. They decided to keep their powers under-wraps to avoid any unwanted attention, Victor had taken a class in Classical Literature where as his sister has decided to study Psychology. As much as they wanted to opportunity of a normal life it wouldn't be something easily acquired. A year later on September 4th 2011 anti-mutant activists in the College had learned of Fiona and Victor's powers and sought to rid the school of it's mutant scum. For the first time Victor used his powers in aggression converting his body into living armour able to withstand the assault against him, however his sister was not so fortunate and she was left in a coma after the attack. This left Victor with an overpowering feeling of guilt over what happened, and he sought to find those responsible and bring the to justice, his search led him to a band of terrorists who claimed that they were merely protecting the species. Victor reported the incident to the police but found that they could or rather would do nothing without evidence proving that those were the ones responsible for his sister's condition. Victor was angered by this lack of help and so began his hatred for non-mutants, he spent the next year caring for his sister as she lay in the coma, often wishing he could do more for her. Then by what appeared to be an act of God his sister regained consciousness, it was on that day that he also met Charles Xavier, Xavier told him about the X-Men and their way of thinking. However Victor had seen too much of anti-mutants and was so disinclined to take Xavier up on his offer, understanding of the young man Xavier told him that his offer would always be available if he so chose it. Victor returned to college after his sister had regained her health continuing his course in Classical Literature, he wanted to stay as far away from the mutant issue as he could but that seems to be something fate will not allow him to do. As Victor was returning home one evening after class he found his apartment to be ransacked with anti-mutant slogan sprayed on the walls, frantically he searched for Fiona to make sure she was alright, he found her on the roof with two people he'd never seen before. Angered and thinking they were the ones who'd ransacked his home he told them to get away from his sister, one of the two a young woman stepped forward and told he there was no need to fight that they were fellow mutants who'd saved his sister. Confused Victor looked to Fiona to find out if it was true and she told him it was, he thanked the two people asking who they were and how they'd known about his sister's predicament. They replied that they were part of a mutant group who sought to end the violence between man and mutant by any means necessary, they asked Victor to join them and feeling a sense of debt as well as a thirst for vengeance he agreed. Fiona not to be taken away from her brother agreed to join them so long as their actions did not harm innocent people, the two strangers agreed and the four left the scene before the police arrived. Victor and Fiona arrived with Pyro and Wanda to their residence in Bayville where Victor met the first person in almost 10 years he could truly call friend, his name was Malcolm Price a fellow mutant who had joined the Brotherhood because of similar experiences with anti mutant terrorists. The two quickly hit it off and Victor found that Malcolm had a wicked sense of humour which often left normally stony Victor in fits of laughter, Malcolm like Victor and Fiona wasn't 100% sure about Wanda and Pyro's intentions but was willing to play along. Over the last year himself and Fiona have grown closer to the point where they are openly dating much to Victor's mused annoyance, he hopes that eventually Malcolm will settle down with his sister and give her the stability she deserves. The three of them have spent the last few months training and helping recruit new mutants to the Brotherhood in the hope that they can learn to live life like a normal person. ------------- On to sign up number 2 Name: Fiona Kane Code Name: Psion Age: 19 Gender: Female Appearance: Mutation/Powers: A highly focused and powerful psychic Fiona's abilities lie in the areas of Telekinesis and Telepathy, although not as strong as the X-Men's Jean Grey she is still a force to be reckoned with. Her telepathic powers allow her to read and for small amount of time control the mind and body of another individual though this places a great deal of stress on Fiona after which she must rest. Her telekinetic powers are quite advanced giving her the ability to much multiple small objects or single large objects over medium distances (about 30 m), whenever she has trouble concentrating Victor often jokes by using the line "Use the Force" to help her get back in focus. Originally From: Republic of Ireland Affiliation: Brotherhood of Mutants Current Location: Brotherhood Mansion awaiting her brother's return Known Family: Adam Kane (Father), Bridget Kane (Mother), Victor Kane (Twin brother, also a mutant) Personality: She is the ying to Victor's yang, an out-going, kind and friendly person she seems out of place among the Brotherhood of Mutants. Her kind and compassionate nature makes her one of the more liked members of the Brotherhood of Mutant "teachers" among their younger students. She sees often that Victor is trying to reach the conclusion to an internal struggle about his place within the group, though she tries to get his to tell her what's wrong she knows that it is not in Victor's nature. Her relationship with Malcolm has been going on for almost a year now, much to Victor's joking disapproval, she knows that Victor is happy she's found someone other than him for company and can finally get one with her life. Like Victor and Malcolm she often questions her place in the Brotherhood but knows that her brother and boyfriend are working to change things for the better. Biography: As mostly described in Victor's biography although there are one of two events I'm just going to go over since the first bio deals more so with Victor than both of them. About a month or so after Victor's first "experience" of his mutant powers Fiona found that she could move small things with her mind, since she had witnessed her parents frenzied study of Victor over his obvious distress she hid her powers from them. As her powers grew over the following months she found that id she was very quiet she could her whispers, she knew the voices belonged to her family but they were so quiet it was hard to make out. With patience and focus she began to hear the whispers more loudly, she heard her parents thoughts, she heard her brothers thoughts, she knew things about that they'd never openly say. Though she could listen to peoples thoughts she couldn't understand everything that was thought by her parents, she heard things about their research and the mutation she and Victor were going through. She decided that it was wrong to listen to other people’s thoughts without permission, although she often did it to Victor to annoy him. As she got older she began to understand more of her parents research but it was only when she was 15 that she fully understood what the research was about, she was horrified to learn that their life was all some kind of cruel experiment designed to create the perfect mutant dossier. When she told Victor he was outraged, he immediately started arguing more with their father, their mother on the other hand stayed quiet alloying the two to bicker as they wanted as long as it didn't interfere with the research. After another year she and Victor agreed to take what money they had and leave their parents once and for all so that they'd finally know true freedom, in the airport she and Victor flipped a coin as to pick where they would go, what Victor doesn't know is that Fiona deliberately fixed the toss. After they had settled themselves into college life Fiona saw a change in her brother, he wasn't a cold or angry as he used to be, she was happy for him and hoped that they'd be able to make a new life together. However that all changed a year later on the night of the attack, she saw Victor trying to protect her but he wasn't able to hold off anymore than a half dozen of the thugs, while she was trying to find somewhere to call for help one of them came from behind and hit her over the head with a pipe. She crumpled to the floor unable to move or see, she could hear everything, Victor finally driving them off and his wails of anguish at seeing her lying there. She knew how he'd stayed at her side for the next year as she lay in that "coma" unable to move or speak it was almost torture for her, save for her brother's kindness and the voice of the one she'd come to know as Charles Xavier. She spoke to him telepathically and they conversed on a multitude of subjects ranging from youth to death, she had never found someone apart from Victor with whom she felt safe, he told her that she would be able to wake up when the time was right something which was to give her the focus she need to go on. A year later she woke from that coma to meet the man she came to know in the flesh, although she wanted to join the X-Men she did not wish to leave her brother behind and instead decided to allow him to choose when they would join Xavier's School. Her brother decided that they weren't ready to embrace the mutant way of life just yet and he stayed caring for her and returning to finish his degree in Classical Literature. However six months after getting out of hospital on February 20th 2013 they home was once again attacked by anti-mutant terrorists, Fiona's powers had increase in strength from the previous encounter and she was easily able to disarm them, while she was doing this another two mutants arrived on the scene and helped drive off the thugs. When Victor arrived back she explained what had happened, she knew that Victor would feel a sense of obligation after Wanda and Pyro "saved" her and so she agreed to go with him to the Brotherhood's base of operations on condition that they never hurt innocent people. It was here that she met Malcolm Price whom she took a liking to although her brother and Malcolm got on better at first, after a few months they began dating and have been almost inseparable since, they go most places together and now share a room in the mansion. She like Malcolm and Victor tries to encourage the new members of the Brotherhood to use their powers only for good rather than evil. 16. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Uma Thurman as Samus because if we consider the facts she actually fits the part quite well.
Samus is rarely out of her suit so physical size isn't really an issue.
When we do see Samus out of her suit she's actually athletic in appearance, I think it's the power suit which gives off the impression she's built like a tank.
Uma's no stranger to playing tough women and as such would be better able to play the emotions Samus would be seen dealing with than someone picked because they bare a resemblance to Samus.
Those are really only the ones I can think of at the moment, but I still believe she'd be a fine choice for the part of Ms Aran. As per Solo's talk of a Half Life movie I agree that story itself may need some fleshing out to fill a script, but Eric Bana would be a fine choice for the title role. He's already proven he can fill a variety of roles from noble Prince in Troy to quiet Scientist in The Hulk. I remember there was a thread a year or so ago about the possibility of making Metal Gear Solid into a movie, but I can only remember a few off the top of my head who we thought could play the different characters. Metal Gear Solid has a great storyline to it with some very human characters so I think it would make an interesting movie. I can only really think of one actor who'd play any one part without too much work. Otacon: Michael Shanks Any other ideas ?
  17. I know how you feel Zidargh since we've both been here long enough to have seen this kind of thing go on to take it's course. I think though we're looking at this from a fairly black and white point of view when there are cases of grey, if we really get down to the nitty-gritty there are in fact two kind of people who "play Mod".
Type I: Power-mongers These are the people we have to watch out for, as they're only acting like Moderators in the vain attempt to impress someone into promoting them to a higher position. Often these guys are rude and downright unpleasant in their attitudes to other members and staff alike because they see themselves as being better than the averages person.
Type II: Those who just want to lend a hand: These are the people who often pay for the crap dished up by Type I's. Often they see that a Moderator is busy in another section of the forum and decide to let a spammer know that what they're doing is against OBs regulation in the hope of getting them to stop. Sometimes this is misinterpreted as an act of "Playing Mod" by a staff member and they (the Type II) end up crucified over trying to help instead of being given a pat on the back for helping that spammer realise he needs to clean up his post. These guys are just trying to pitch in a hand in keeping OB free from spam and helping members avoid more strict encounters with Staff Members.
I guess it's really down to the Staff themselves to decide on a person's motives for "Playing Mod" but I think we really have to look at the issue in full color rather than black and white. In the cases of downright rudeness and being an asshole I don't think that anyone should have to put up with and as such should simply inform a Moderator.
  18.
I mean, when you post in a thread that forty people have posted clear, detailed ideas in... why would you think "OMG Goku RULES!!111" is acceptable? You only would if you didn't read the rules. There's only so many times the staff of this place can beat people over the head with that link.
The case is that we shall always have a number of people newbies or not (there have been cases of members being a pain in the behind) who blatantly spam because they cannot or will be bothered to form a proper post. In such cases I think what we can do is limited, because at the end of the day it's the user themselves who decided the quality of their post. In other cases some people just need a little time to mature. I've looked over some of my first posts and spoken with others about theirs and I can safely say that in time newbies can mature into respected members in their own right. The system of Moderators we have has worked over the last 4 versions and beyond, we also have a certain amount of veterans to every forum whom newbies will learn from and try to mimic in quality.
  19.
dude, i dont think any body cares...
And a post as pointless as that consititutes spam Vincent. Anyway I can say that's most definitely abnormal for a five year old child to act in such a manner, if it was all in fun then I'd understand it but you're brother seems to be quite sincere in his thoughts. I've never seen or even heard of a case like this before but I can only hope that your brother takes it slowly and eventually grows out of it.

  22. Well I have to admit I've never had any sort of experience like that from either of my grandmothers, paternal or maternal, my maternal being the perfect model of a grandmother, kind, loving, hell she practically lives with us to help my mother and father while they are at work. However I have a grandaunt who's exactly what your describing, a real nasty piece of work. I'm lucky that she lives in England but anytime I see here it's always negative comments towards myself and my sister (my brother escapes because he's her God-son), I was forced to leave school for a year due to a serious neck injury and she acts like I was just being lazy. The only real advice I can give to you is to either ignore her completely or try to talk to her and explain that what she's doing is counter-productive. One final thing you could consider doing is warning her that if she wants to see her grandchild to-be she'd better keep her mouth firmly in check, not a nice thing to do but it seems she's crossed the line a few times to deserve that kind of warning.
