Interesting little RPG Shy, very interesting (Do I say that too much ?). Anyway I hope this is good enough as I've not RPed in a while. Name: Victor O'Donnell Gender: Male Age: Early 40's Biography: Victor Edward O'Donnell was born just outside Clonmel town in the County Tipperary region of Ireland in February 1923 to parents Michael and Bridget O'Donnell. His father Michael was a schoolteacher who had believed heavily in the I.R.A. fight against British, to the point of joining the group in the War of Independence. However after Victor' birth he decided to relinquish his position in the I.R.A. although he stayed on as a vocal supporter of the group itself. His father as an educator was a well-respected member of the community and the birth of his first child seemed to increase that respect, since he used to say had fought for his son's future. Victor' mother Bridget was a simple housewife and some ten years younger than her husband, she was a loving and dedicated wife who was famous for her cleaning abilities. Unfortunately for Victor and his mother Michael was killed in a revenge attack by Anti-Treaty I.R.A. troops in the closing days of April 1923 when Victor was only just two months into life. This had wider repercussions than just leaving Victor without a father as it also left himself and his mother without their sole provider of income. Bridget was heart broken at her husband's death and seemed to lose all hope for life, save to see her son progress into manhood. However neighbors around her saw her slowly wasted away during the following months, and she too was to pass away before Victor was even old enough to remember her clearly in December 1925. And so Victor was left and orphan with no living family able to care for him in Ireland, it was so decided that for his own benefit and the chance of a better life he would be sent to Key City in the United States to be raised by his Aunt Mary and Uncle Thomas along with their young two daughters. Just shortly after his second birthday in 1925 Victor finally arrived in Key City with his uncle Thomas and was so taken in to be raised as one of their own. Thomas was a solicitor of law in Key City and was pleased to finally have a son that he could bond with, since he had not had the chance to do so with two daughters. Mary worked part time in a local store but spend most of her time looking after their new arrival. So Victor had what could be described as a slightly bumpy childhood, although the details would not be provided to him until he was old enough to understand. He was a happy and imaginative child and was enrolled in the local Elementary school by age 5. Victor proved to be a particularly clever child in school, completing most assignments with ease to the surprise of his teacher, he made friends quite easily and was content in himself. Year after year passed and he was soon finished Elementary school and moving on into Key City High as a junior, and event he'd been looking forward to with a sense of excitement. Victor soon became acquainted with his new surrounding and was helped on by his cousins Elizabeth (Elsie) and Lillian (Lilly) who were 3 and 4 years older than him respectively. He found he had an instant liking to the one of his new subject, chemistry and often spend hours of his free time just reading through his book on what was coming next. By 18 he had finished High School and decided that he would go on to study Chemistry as a career as a teacher. His Aunt and Uncle ever supportive of their "son" agreed with his choice and bestowed their blessing. Victor began his new studies with the same determination and pleasure he had shown in previous terms of education, and also showed that he had both a natural flare and talent in his choice of career. Victor had always been a shy and quiet person most of the time but he seemed to be in his element when training to be a Chemistry Professor and became more confident in himself. It was this newfound courage that made Victor a happier person capable of finally dispelling his inability to go out on dates. He was beginning his third and final year of his subject when the Second World War broke out, an event who's building he had watched with some interest. The War's intensity and sheer carnage disturbed Victor greatly as it brought his mind to dwell on his the true facts of his birth on the events that led to him being raised in the States. He often wondered what he life would have been like in Ireland had his father not gotten involved and stayed as a simple teacher, though such thoughts he realised were pointless his mind dwelt on them from time to time. Life continued on for Victor, at 22 he got his diploma and become a certified Chemistry Professor, bringing to an end one of his larger hurdles in life. He moved back in with his Aunt and Uncle for a while before he was able to apply to Key School High as the Assistant Chemistry Professor. He decided to move out and try and find somewhere of his own, somewhere where he could call the shots and to make his mark. This "quest" led him to rent an apartment in the middle of Key City, it was a large and comfortable place, one which Victor found he had an instant liking for. Just over 20 years on and Victor is still living in the same apartment though it is more modern and adult looking before. He is now the Chemistry teacher at Key City High a step up although it took nearly 10 years, he is a dedicated teacher though he is still single due to his lack of a social life, something he endeavors to correct. He is happy in his life although as he himself has said he wouldn't mind some companionship beyond his dog Cú. Personality: A kind, honest, thoughtful and intelligent man Victor O'Donnell has become a well-respected educator in his own right. Quiet and sometimes shy but not completely silent Victor enjoys to listen to people rather than talk, though this can sometimes lead to a one sided conversation and the words "You'd get a better response from a brick wall" being muttered by his cousin Lilly. A caring and compassionate man he has a great affinity for animals and regularly visits the local animal shelter with food he collects. Those who would mock him (though there would only be a very small number) would say that he is an idealist who sees the world as it ought to be, a man who lacks confidence in himself, and a man who can sometimes lose touch with reality for the sake of work. Profession: Chemistry teacher at Key City High. Physical Description: As seen in this photo although without the scary background and monster at his side. Stands about 6'1 in height and weighs somewhere in the region of 150 lbs., athletically built and physically fit. He usually dons a pair of small rectangular spectacles over his dark blue eyes. His white lab coat and garments underneath it are kept free of all stains as humanly possible.
  2. Damn it DW I had better have heard wrong that this isn't going ahead, I've spent a good hour writing this. --------- Human Sign up Name: Doctor Victor Ambrose Age: 45 Gender: Male Occupation: Doctor and Scientist (though his experience in the medical field would extend far beyond these titles) Style of Living: Large stone house in the middle of town, it is one of Black Haven's oldest abodes next to those of the inn-keepers. The building is approximately two stories tall composed of large greyish stone blocks and large gothic styled windows to allow maximum light during the daylight hours. The outside of the building is kept looking well and free of ivy as to repel such thoughts that the good doctor is some sort of mad genius. After a nasty accident destoryed his first home roughly 15 years ago Dr Victor built his current home. Residency Time: Roughly 25 or so years, one of the first few residents of the town of Black Haven. Personality: A good hearted, kind and thoughtful man, Dr. Ambrose is known throughout Black Haven for his skills as a physician as well as his bedside manner. He has treated most of the town from such maladies as the common cold to scarlet fever with varying degrees of success. He is a pleasent man to meet and often prefers to listen to a person rather than talk, quiet and sometimes reserved, when he first came to Black Haven his lack of communication led to the general agreement that he was a mute though with the passing of time that theory has been rubbished. I'll provide a picture here as it will fit the part I desire nicely. Hair Color: Light brown Hair Style: As above, neat, straight and well kept. Skin Color: White Shirt Color: As above although his clothing is much cleaner. Pants Color: Dark brown, tied with a black leather belt. Boots Color: Black shoes, size 9. Eye Color: Light Blue Other Belongings: Mainly just what is seen in his picture and the equipment in his laboratory, he does though carry around a silver crucifix given to him by his late friend and mentor Dr Velken Dominus. Information: Little is known about the good doctor before he arrived in Black Haven but what is known is that Doctor Victor Ambrose was just barely a man when he came to Black Haven. He had come to seek out it's previous Doctor one Velkan Dominus to learn medicine as a student, Victor had already gained some knowledge of the subject but his skills were far too rudimentry to practice medicine without further training. His love of the science and nature as well as his down to earth and kind demeanor helped impress his mentor and as such secured him his place as a medical student. Time progressed quickly for Dr Ambrose and in six short years he had learned all he could from Dr Velken. However trajedy struck the following winter as his mentor was taken ill with a dose of influenza, an infection which the aging 70 year old did not recover from, Victor was now looked upon as the towns new cheif physician and he took to this new challange in the hope of living up to the worth Dr Dominus had placed in him. Since then he had watched the humble farming town grow and grow into large bustling town fulled with interesting characters and even more interesting challanges. He became friendly with the Yuge inkeepers within a few years of himself and spends much of his free time either in his lab or conversing with them in their tavern.

  4. A well laid our RPG Vicky, this shall be a pleasure to do. Name: Tarik Real Name: Apollo Gender: Male Elements: God of Fire and the Sun as well as the new God of War Powers: He can also teleport in a flash of fire, able to control fire and rise the temperature. He has more strength than speed, but is a deadly God to mess with. Personality: Apollo was once the embodiment of his element, quick to anger and as deadly as the ranging inferno, however that was long ago when he was young and his personality is very different now. Ever since Hanzao's betrayal he's personality has become more stoic and protective of his remaining family, his anger is evident though no less lethal as it was in his youth. Those who have known him for as long as the other Gods know that Hanzoa left a deep impact upon Apollo's nature. Description: Apollo was worshipped by the Greeks as their Olympian God of fire replacing the Titan Helios, as such his appearance to his warriors has changed very little. He stands about 7 feet in height and weighs almost 450lbs forming a gigantic, perfectly sculpted body worthy of a God and showing clearly his divine strength. His hair a mass of shoulder length dark red almost crimson waves, his beard neat and of the same color and his eyes are a dark piercing blue that burn with the powers and heat of the Sun. His clothing remains the same as it always has, in the form of tanned colored leather armor in a style typical of ancient Greece, bracers and shin armor over his forearms and legs as well as a Greek styled helmet with vermilion bristles, Helios is kept strapped to his back. Weapons: Helios, the enflamed spear of Apollo, wherever this weapon is seen the God himself in not far away. This is the symbol of the Fire God as well as representing his new role as the God of War, those of an evil heart face the wrath of the God in the form of this flaming spear. The spear is approximately 9'6" in length with an adamantine head formed into a perfect diamond, the haft is wooden engraved with gold in the language of the Gods themselves, the wood has been enchanted to make it stronger than mountains and swifter than the winds. This spear reflects Apollo aim as he can stand upon the top of a mountain and hit anything within his field of view. Biography: Bah I can’t think of anything to write so I'll come back to this.
  5. I well remember my first gaming console since it seems to have dictated the brand of consoles I have bought since. I started out on the original NES a long, long time ago when I was about 7 I think, I got it as a present one birthday or Christmas from my parents (I can remember exactly). I remember getting Super Mario Bros with it and being intrigued by the game for a long time, it was one of the major causes of conflicts with my brother one who would play it. I remember getting Duck Hunt then and having shooting competitions with Dad and Dave seeing who would get this highest score (and I agree with Desbreko, that dog is evil). We got Super Mario Bros 3 a while after that and I remember being really impressed over how good looking the graphics were, well they were kick *** for the time. I really feel that without Nintendo in my life I'd not be as socially retarted as I am now, God bless Nintendo.
  6. This looks like an interesting little RPG DW and I'll be more than happy to make a a crack at joining it. My time is pretty limited so I'll just do the basics and come back and edit it. Name: Denithell Mirith Gender: Male Age: Mid 50s Look: As a man and a traveller his age Denithell has a rather worn and aged look to him, his height of 6'2 and his dark piercing blue eyes represent the only physical evidence of strength. His long whitening hair and beard only further thoughts of weakness about him, although to test such a theory would be a mistake. He dresses in long slate grey colored robes to blend in to a crowd during the day and to avoid the contact of those he'd rather not meet during his travels at night. Personality: Quiet and reserved, Denithell speaks rarely and only if it is required of him, this restrain often leads to him being regared to as cold and unfeeling. However to Denithell his own silence allow him endless contemplation on what another has said. Once past his seemingly cold exterior, one will find Denithell to be a compassionate soul with a love for nature and all it's beauties, those who go so far as to make his friendship will find him to be a loyal and worthy companion. Ring Type: Light Ring Information: Little in known about the man known as Denithell Mirith, an aged traveller his legacy lies only from his childhood up until his Coming of Age and finally the revieving of the Ring of Light. (Will continue from here). I'll finish this once I have a good idea on what to write.
  7. An interesting film to be sure, I did enjoy Buffalo Soldiers the first few times I saw it. Joaquin Pheonix really brought his character to life in a likable way which must have been a difficult job to do considering the character of the man he had to play. There were parts in the film which were particularly funny
The MPs getting high from not eating enough while they made the heroin was damn funny
. I can see why many Americans would dislike this film due the the light it might portray the army in though I doubt that such actions are mimiced by their real life counter-parts on a regular basis. I'd recommend this film to anyway stuck in the house for a night with nothing really to do or who likes comedies that are a little different to the norm.
  8. Well there seems to be a lot of older Final Fantasy fans here or at least replying since we're not seeing the usual "Tidus is teh kewlest 1!1!!!". Anyway that aside my personal favourite character comes from the excellent Final Fantasy VI (III in SNES terms), yes the one and only Edgar Roni Figaro, King, inventor and all around brilliant character. I suppose my main reason for liking him is because of the background to this particular character
The history behind himself and his brother in regard to the ascension to the throne of Figaro was particularly interesting
.
  9. I never had the oppertunity to play the original but this looks like it's shaping up to be a really interesting looking game. I actually really like the DBZ-esque look to it considering that it was Akira Toriyama who desgined the look of the characters behind the game and even possibly influenced it a little, as seen in Adams comments in reagrd to this game on Here. I'd be pretty interesting in seeing the finished product, even if it was a PC only adventure.
  10. That was indeed an excellent addition to the Enter the Net series, I do believe that these Plushies should return ETN to it's rightful place as one of the most comic and original series ever to be created on Otakuboards. I look forward to seeing the next chapter with equal vigour.
  11. It seems that you can't delete a thread that people have posted in Bill, I had a similar experience a while ago. Anyway I'm back in this for the long haul so hopefully we can get it going again. Character Sign-Up Name: Cupimon Side: Demon Lord Digivolutions: Puttomon ? Cupimon ? Lucemon ? FallenAngemon ? Lucemon [Falldown] ? Lucemon [Satan Mode] Attacks: Angel Ring and Bubble Blow. Personality: Like his counterpart Minomon, Cupimon is the embodiment of his past self, pure malovolence. Cupimon likes nothing more to dispatch an enemy slowly and painfully taking pleasure in each Digimon he sends to the far beyond. He too possesses dim memories of his previous life that seem like a dream of long ago. Cupimon yearns to grow more powerful for some unknown reason and spends each waking hours searching for a way to accomplish his dream. Appearance: The link I had doesn't seem to to working so I'll come back once I find a picture. Biography: In his Mega form Lucemon was the second most feared Digimon on the Planet, surpassed in fear only by his master Apocalymon. His malice and cruelty was known and despised throughout the Digital World and brought him into combat often with Imperialdramon, the right hand of Seraphmon. Their now ancient battles were titanic equalled only by both warriors' unending hatred for one another, time and again both would be on the verge of victory but something would always prevent them from their prize. This wrath at not being able to annihilate Imperialdramon would often manifest itself in the form of severe punishments towards his underlings, something, which brought him into the presence of Apocalymon more than once. Lucemon was also told the prophecy of Goldramon before he too had his memory wiped and he was forcefully returned to his weakest form to begin life again in the Primary Village. It is this prophecy which seems to feed his insatiable lust for power and bringing forth a great yearning to reunite with the other Demon Lords and finally defeat their adversaries so that they may take control over the Digital World. Although he possesses only distant and very faint memories of his past, he knows that if he reaches his most powerful form as a Mega Level Digimon it will allow him to complete something he has long dreamed of.
  12. Heh heh, great story Gavynn, really great story. I have to say that this is some of your best work to date, although I also have to admit that it's not as funny as Pirates of Otakuboards which you said was to be a series aswell. *Nudges Gavynn with Shotgun into finishing previous story *. The whole Pokémon-esque theme to it was really great, heh Pikachu's lines were entirely too funny and you did a great job with the battles. I do have one small question though: Where's Gavynn equally sexy cousin Gavin who joins him in his sexy adventures ?
  13. Well well, this seems to have picked up a fair bit of steam since I saw it last, something which I'm quite happy to see. I'm not sure if Bill has seen this recently since he's not mentioned it in our AIM chats, but rest assured I'll bring it up and see what he wants to do. Overall I'm quite pleased with the sign ups so far: Cysword6, I'm going to extend you the same curtosy as was given to you in the Bionicle RPG since I too see some potential in you as a role-player. However Bill and I will be looking for the same levels of commitment and quality from you as from everyone else who makes it into the RPG.
Can I get a spot saved as a Royal Knight, but if we do not have enough people, save me as a Demon Lord, please!
Not to sound picky Arika, but I would be most appreciative if you would be a Demon Lord since we're a bit short of them at the moment. However if you really want to be a Royal Knight I will save the remaining spot as Dynasmon but it's your call anyway. I guess that's all I have to say except thanks to everyone who's made an effort to sign up, I hope to make this a memorable and exciting RPG. -Gavin
  14. I've decided to edit this sign up a bit and will edit the History part as soon as I've finished it. Name: Dark Sage Nickname/Callsign: Sage Attribute & Subtype: Dark/Spellcaster Appearance: Affiliation & Rank: A loyal servant of the Dark Realm, he is currently ranked as one of the Dark Paladin's Field-Marshals but is also one of the Dark Paladin's most trusted advisors. Reports to: Holding the duel position of Marshal and advisor he reports directly to Dark Paladin and the Council, although his loyalties lie to the Dark Paladin more so than to the council. The day he rose to the rank of Marshal he was presented with the Lightforce Sword (as suggested by Ben) as a gift from the Dark Paladin and as such is his preference in battlefield arms. Although at first he found the sword to be difficult to wield, with much practice and training he became an adept and stalwart swordsman. Many of the foes that he encounters mistake his aged form for weakness, a mistake which often proves deadly. These skills along with his very powerful sorcery make the Dark Sage one of the Alliances most powerful warriors. Weapon Ability: The Lightforce Sword grants the Dark Sage the ability to delay the special effects of enemies for a while at a time and can prove quite advantageous in certain battles. Special Ability/Abilities: Sage has the ability to perform devastating magical attacks when he joins the field, one of his favourites being Raigeki. However accessing such powerful sorcery such as this weakens Sage greatly and requires him to rest for short periods afterwards in order to regain his strength before he can join the battle again History: Sage is one of the eldest of his race, he has long served the people of the Dark Realm and it's leader the Dark Paladin. Will continue from here.
  15. An intrigueing little RPG Bill, hopefully it'll turn out as good as everything else you've ever made. Name: Toa Nuju Element: Ice District: Ko-Metru Appearance: Kanohi Mask/Power: Toa Nuju wears the Kanohi Matatu, the Great Mask of Telekinesis, which allows him to move objects or people with his mind in whatever way he chooses. While he takes his duties as a Toa seriously, it is not a job he would have volunteered for. Being one of the Toa Metru means working with others he is not sure he likes or trusts and leaves very little time for study or focusing on the future of the city like the other Seers of Ko-Metru. Although Nuju does not have much faith in Vakama's visions, he is practical enough to know that someone has to be the leader. That does not mean he will follow orders he thinks are foolish - like any Ko-Matoran, he prefers to go his own way and choose his own actions. Although he way sometimes seem aloof, he is usually mapping out the consequences of a plan before suggesting it. Nuju is always focused on the future, which explains why he argues with Toa Whenua who reveres the past. ----- P.S. Thanks for the help with the sign up Bill.

Wyler gave off a disapproving frown before deciding to make an exit before he was asked to leave, Allen muttered something about him being an "uptight S.O.B." before making an examination of the nearest shiny object. Van chuckled for a moment before making his own judgements about their Sick-Bay, he knew that it'd want to be one of the most advanced area of the ship if they were to stand any chances of surviving this little camping exercise. Trini was busy over at her desk leafing through a few files on her computer before becoming fixated by one particular piece of the Sick-Bay's equipment. Trini: VAN, Van come quick and look at this. Van: What is it Trini ?, [Looks at the object in question] Oh my God. Allen: [Looks confused] So what is it that you're both so impressed at ? He looked around at the different menus displayed on the computer screen before finally touching his finger against the option "Equipment", it opened up a whole new set of directories. Van recognised about 75% of what was being displayed but there were several new pieces of Medical Technology on the menu which he did not recognise, one in particular was something that piqued his interest. Van: Computer, please activate Holographic Assistant Physician. Van watched in awe as a person seemingly materialised right in the center of the room, it was male and made it way over to Van with a smile on his face. 17. It's great that this is back up, I need a good RPG to get me back in shape for the Arena. Just a slight question KoTR: What's happened to my sick bay ?, by all accounts we'll need a very advanced one this time. If you don't mind I'll make a crack at describing it, with Sweetreyes help of course ;) . -------------- Van sat beside Trini and Allen at the central table of the Mess hall, they had shared a lot of time together and he knew that Allen respected their opinions on the mission. It might have even gone as far that for anyone else except Sam he'd have turned the mission down if they asked him to. Van could tell from the expression of Allen's face that he was still a little disgusted by what he'd seen, some "computer core" he thought, while some of the new crew members had nearly gotten sick this was just another day at work for Trini and Van. He sipped carefully at his tea while the others drank back their own choice beverages though his mind still focused on those "engineered" brains that would regulate the ship, he wondered what kind of game Wyler was playing to have not told them about something this significant. Van took another mouthful of his tea before pushing the thought out of his head, he guessed that if anything went wrong with the brains he'd probably have to figure out what it was. He looked over at Nathan on his left, the guy was nearly green but Van knew he'd get over it, as he was looking at Nathan Van remembered that he would need regular doses of the chemical "Dileksthin" to keep his killer tendencies suppressed enough for this mission. Although he'd probably need them for what they'd encounter when they reached their destination. Van thought he'd have a look at the chemical to see if he could make some improvements for Nathan, he knew that any generalised Medicine could always be improved upon for a specific case since it had to be made to deal a wide variety of reactions. He'd do some tests on Nathan later to determine the exact alterations he'd need to make to the drug. Trini was eying Van in particular manner that he knew all too well by now, Trini was the only female survivor and she'd been his assistant on the original mission, he had a lot of respect for her and she knew it. He finished off the last mouthful of Tea before giving Trini the same eye, Allen had noticed this and merely smiled before asking the most obvious question at his disposal. Allen: So where are you two headed after all this eying about at one another ? Van and Trini: The Medical Bay, where else ? Van smiled as he offered his arm to Trini so that they could personally inspect the Sickbay for themselves, if it was half as impressive as the rest of the ship Van might be able to rest a little bit easier.
  18. Well as Super Samsh Bros. has been one of Nintedos best selling series, in my own opinion I'd say it's more than likely that Nintendo will release a sequel to Super Smash Bros. Melee at some stage in the future. I'd personally doubt they'll show it at E3 unless they've been working on it in secret for the last few months as a suprise for Nintendo brawlers. As BlueGender was getting at, I'd say that the sequel may not appear on the Gamecube since Nintendo are eager to release their Next-Generation console ahead of their competition. Nintendo are saying that they will have the console out by 2005 although I'm not sure when but it seems to me anyway that Nintendo might hold off the sequel as a starter for the "N5" like it did with the Gamecube. N-Gage QD

To be honest I'm going to have to agree with the growing trend of opinion here that the N-Gage QD is a step in the right direction but just not a step far enough. I've only ever played the original N-Gage (which would have been a great name for the Next-Gen Nintendo Console) twice and both times I found it to be not much to write home about, I found the controls fiddley at times and the overall bulkiness of the product was a real annoyance. I have to admit that I like the new design it's looks much more gamer-friendly and the smaller, sleeker appearance to it, that and the improved actual "telephoning" process. I agree with James when he said this new N-Gage is aimed more towards the Gaming-side of Mobile Phones than it's predecessor. The loss of the FM Radio and the MP3 player wouldn't really bother those who are buying this for it's gaming abilities so I can;t really see that many complaints about it. At $199 I'd give a guess and say that it's retail for about the same if not a tiny bit cheaper in Europe which is a good step up from the ?349.99 price tag they slapped on it when it first came out. I won't be buying either unit simply because my GBA SP and Nokia 3310 suffice perfectly and admirably to both jobs the N-Gage would replace.
  20. My forté in literature is more so fiction than anything else, I prefer to read fiction more often that fact, although I usually have my school history books finished before Christmas, which is about the only area in which fact is more interesting that fiction. In terms of actual fiction genres though I'm a very big fan of Science Fiction though I have tended to stick with more established and trusted series such as Star Wars or Star Trek, the main reasons for this would be that my local library doesn't stock much Sci-Fi literature anymore and my local book store has followed in a similar move. In saying that though I've read quite a bit (maybe 25%) of the Expanded Universe of Star Wars and eagerly await the next installment of The New Jedi Order series even though it's been written by many different authors. Though the New Jedi Order series is interesting they aren't my personal favourite E.U. novels, I personally found the novel The New Rebellion by Kristine Katheryn Rusch to be my favourite in terms of reading pleasure and sheer inabililty to stop reading before I had finished it. In terms of Star Trek I've only had a chance to read a small bit of the E.U. mainly DS9 based although I have to say that I found The 34th Rule co-written by Armin Shimerman to be an interesting read. At the moment though I'm rereading a series that caught my eye when I first began to the the New Jedi Order series, it's called the Saga of the Seven Suns and is written by Sci-Fi novelist Kevin J. Anderson. I bought the first book (currently there are only two out) simply because it was on sale in a book shop I happened to be visited when I was staying with relations. I also bought the latest book in the NJO series and gave little though to The Hidden Empire until I had finished the NJO book, however when I first began reading it I realised that I was onto something very good. I was so taken by the book I read and read and read until I was finished and there was no more to read, as I was browsing though the notes and previews at the end of the book I noticed that a sequel A Forest of Stars had been finished already so I surfed the Net to find out more. I was staying with my grandmother for a little vacation about 7 or 8 months I managed to pick up the sequel although it was more expensive at ?24.99 but still worth every cent. I found it to be even better than the first and would recommend the series to any Sci-Fi reader. Other than Sci-Fi I had read the entire Harry Potter series (yes a 17 year old who's read Harry Potter) although I didn't much care for the latest book (I found Harry to be an irritating little child in most of it) and over all I think the series had been declining in quality. I've read the Lord of the Rings entirely including the Hobbit and loved ever page of the series although the language could be a bit hard to read at in some parts of it. I've read much much more than detailed here but it's late and this is really the most recent material I've been reading.
  21. I suppose I would have been 11 - 12 when I first began watching Anime when it was airing on Cartoon Network, at the time I think they were only airing Dragonball Z (At least that's the only one I remember watching). I was unfortunate enough to fall in directly in the middle of the Frieza Saga so I had to do a bit of research before I fully understoof what was happening in the series. However this didn't deminish my enjoyment of the series one bit and contrary to what most people here have said I found Dragonball Z to be one of the best Animes I've ever seen. Pokémon and Digimon began to air on the on Sky One and Network 2 (a National Channel) respectively and I began to follow them, in the beginning I preferred Digimon because it had a more mature plot to it and Pokémon just seemed to be slightly immature in my opinion. But I gave them both a chance and watched them with equal interest but quite quickly I grew bored of both and concentrated all my efforts on watching Dragonball Z which would air for 3 hours on a Saturday morning and 2 on a Sunday. Zoids: Chaotic Century began to air on Sky One in the mornings when I was about 14 as I remember it (again I have quite a bad memory) and I was no longer able to watch Cartoon Network due to the channel being scrabled by my local service provider. I found it reminded me of the Tranformers which I had worshipped as I child and I followed it with great interest until it ended abruptly about 5 or 6 episodes before the end of Zoids: Guardian Force and Sky One began airing Zoids: New Century Zero. I found Zero to be interesting enough although it took a more light hearted approach than Chaotic Century or Guardian Force had. I began missing episodes of NCZ right and left due to it being aired at 8 am and me having to leave the house for school at 7:30 so I missed the rest of the series after that point. After this most Anime apart from Pokémon (which I had been casually watching) was either moved to a later time or removed totally so I was left without much to watch. I began to watch Yu-Gi-Oh when it started about a year and a half ago (would that be right ?) and found it to be decent enough although I prayed that the characters would become slightly less Pokémon-ish as had been indicated by the Pilot-Episode. Thankfully my wish was granted and I began watching it with more interest as the series progressed, however as is normal with Sky One when they stopped having episodes to show they'd start the series over again (which was a rightious pain). Zoids started airing again mind-last year and I started watching it again, this time I was lucky enough to catch all of both series CC/GF - NCZ and I was once again dissapointed that it was taken off the air after finishing. Basically since then Yu-Gi-Oh has been my basic Anime staple since most of the other stuff has either been taken off the air or (in the case of Pokémon) I've lost interest. I've never been fortunate enough to see most of the other Anime that airs on Toonami although I would guess that eventually I will. Anyway I suppose I've answered the question asked of me.
  22. Seems an interesting trip down memory lane, unfortunately most of my consoles were later sold to fund the purchase of the next, either that or they broke down. I never had loads of games on any particular console for some reason, I guess you can only play so many at a time. I've played every single console out since after the NES except for the SEGA Saturn but not owned all of them.

NES: This was my first ever taste of video-gaming and unfortunately is the one I least remember. My father purchased a NES for myself and my brother in probably Christmas 1992 although I'm not that sure, the NES came with Mario Bros 1 which we played to death for ages but to my knowledge never beat fully. Over the years I got a few more games, usually from my local market: Super Mario Bros. 3 (which was a brilliant and well made game), Solstice (A game with a wizard on the front), Bionic Commando (which I loathed), there were a few others but I just can't remember what they were at this moment in time. Unfortunately I loaned my NES to my cousins a few years ago and it ended up being broken so I can't play it any more.

SEGA Megadrive II: Although I had played the Master System at my cousin's house (separate to the above) this was to be my first taste of proper SEGA gaming (on the MS we played Alex the Kidd the whole time). It was bought in 1995 I think again I'm not 100% and we got the three 3 Games in 1 cartridges for it, my self and my brother stuck almost solely to the second of the 3 with Golden Axe, Streets of Rage (I loved this game) and Revenge of Shinobi quenching our gaming thirsts. Most often we'd play SoR because getting 2 player on Golden Axe required some very precise timing (that and we's war over who got to be the Viking guy), I'd say that possibly my best gaming experiences were playing with my brother on those games. Over time we got a few more, one of the Sonic games, Jungle Strike (or something, there were three Jungle, Urban and Desert I think), Cannon Fodder, Worms 1, and a few others that I can't remember either. I rented a load of games from my local video store but beat only a few since I was never as serious into gaming as I am now, I haven't played the Megadrive in ages but I'll have a look for it sometime soon.

Nintendo 64: Bought the Christmas of the year it came out, I remember there was a power-cut as is usual and I was left staring at my N64 and games (SW: Shadows of the Empire and Super Mario 64) for two days until we got power back. I think it was this console that got me really into gaming as opposed to just playing it when it was raining and I couldn't play outside. I can remember my first game of Mario 64 and going into the first level with the pink Bob-ombs, the cannons and taking down the Bob-omb King at the peak of the Mountain at the end of the level, over all I think we got about 90 or so of the stars and left it at that. Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire was probably my least favourite of any Star Wars game I own and reminds me a lot in parts of Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike, it wasn;t a bad game but I kind sucked at it and could never get passes that Droid Bounty Hunter. The last level destroying the Space Hook in the X-Wing was what set me to liking the likes of Rogue Leader since I never played the first game. This console saw some of the best games I've ever bought or recieved as gifts: Mario Kart 64, Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time, GoldenEye, Pokemon Stadium, Fifa '98 Road to the World Cup and Diddy Kong Racing. I think this is what drew me fully into Gaming as a past-time and not as a way of passing-time.

Playstation: The original of the series was bought by my little sister as her first tiptoeing into gaming after playing my N64, I never really played it that much except when I bought FF 7 and FF8 and then I was engrossed and played it for days on end, later I got a loan of MGS 1 and that led to similar circumstances of not eating and gaming for about 18 hours a day. I only ever owned those two FF games and Spiro III and so I've not played it nearly as much as my other consoles, but it seemed that when I played the PS I had a lot of fun.

Playstation 2: Another Christmas gift the year it was released from my parents to my brother and myself, I actually found it about a fortnight before Christmas but didn't tell anyway until afterwards, we got Grand Theft Auto III (Mine) and Kessin (Dave's) and luckily there wasn't any power cuts so we were able to play them practically all morning. I've never really been as big a fan of the PS as I have been of Nintendo but it changed dramatically when I bought Final Fantasy X when it came out, I had never been as astounded when playing a game as I was in the opening 15 minutes of FF: X, the visuals were astounding as was the gameplay in general. I sold it and many of my other games unfortunately to pay for my Gamecube although I'll probably buy it again this week. I sold my half of the PS2 to my brother so he owns it and has bought Tekkan 4, Vice City and Hitman 2 in the meantime.

Gamecube: A long planned buy which has turned out to be my favourite console, I bought the Super Mario Sunshine Edition with the game and memory pack as standard. I never enjoyed Sunshine as a game and later traded it in at Game for Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast which has become my favourite game to play on any occassion. I later bought SW: Rogue Leader later and it was basically those two games which kept me entertained for weeks on end, next came LOZ: Wind Waker which is actually the first Zelda game I completed (I only got to the Spirit Temple on OOC). I was a little worried about the Cel-shaded graphics but after a few seconds of playing those fears had been liquidated completely, I found it to be the most engrossing and satistfying game I'd ever played although a little easy in parts. Christmas thise year left me Worms 3D (Which is as enjoyable as previous incarnations) and RS III: Rebel Strike, out of all my consoles I probably enjoy this one the most.
Nintendo DS

When I first read about the DS I have to admit that I wasn't very lured by the idea, but the more I read the more I'm impressed and the more I'm worried that Nintendo will strip me of my hard earned money with their ingenious production and addictively fun games. To me anyway, the DS project represents the quinntisential Nintendo philosophy: Innovation, time and again Nintendo come out with an innovative idea, system or product which causes a shockwave among it's peers and customers, Z-Targetting, Anagloue controls, the Gameboy series, and much more (damn my memory to hell). I do however agree with James when he said that the DS will need some very good games to help launch it as a system, I think the Gamecube may have had a rocky start (at least here in Ireland) due to the over all lack of games for the system as a whole on the launch. However in saying that the games released were of great quality and are still some of the best available on the system, I think that we can rest assured that Nintendo will provide some very good games for the DS when it comes out (a two screened proper FF RPG will please me anyway :D ). As for the SK split I think it is unfortunate since they did produce some excellent games on the Gamecube, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness darkness for example, but the split does seem to bare the halmarks of a similar split between Nintendo and Rare and we've not really seen anything to be sorry about.
  24. When I was younger like 7 or 8, I wanted to be something in the Medical profession, you know a doctor or a scientist or something, a guy that helps people and makes them feel better about themselves... (You've got 3 days to live, have a nice week). It's been the only real constant profession choice through the hundreds of others that have passed through my head in recent months and years. However in saying that the points for Medicine in Ireland are extremely high, out of the maximum 600 points awarded in the Leaving Certificate (State Exam), you need at least 500 to qualify for practically any Medical Course in University. Then after you actually get into Medical Course there's a fairly high rate of drop out due to stress, and after your 4 year course ends you get placed into a hospital where you work about 80 hours a week (that over double the average) for your first 5 years until you get some form of specialised qualifications and/or a promotion. In saying that though afterwards you work and average amount of hours and get a very handsome salary every month which is the often driving force for people to try and get into and surivive the first few years. The fact remains however that after you've been a Doctor for about 20 - 25 years with enough qualifications you should be able to fund practically anything you'd like to do. Other than a Medicine though there have been loads of other professions I've considered: Law, Archaeology, Teaching (University only), Computer Programming, these are but a few of the douzens that I'm trying to eliminate and actually settle on one career.
  25. Well thanks to everyone (all two of you) who've read this and replied, I really enjoyed writing it and will do my best to keep it as funny as I can. As Vicky pointed out I did actually enjoy writing the carriage bit more than any other part because I could be original and not try to co-incide with the movie. Brolli I'll do my best to find you a suitable part, the problem with this is that there are so few recurring characters you may only feature once or twice. However I shall attempt to add a few more characters where possible. I've decided to give a character list for those who will feature in this on a fairly recurring basis and who they correspond to on Otakuboards. I've decided to go back to the idea from the original book in allowing a few suitors to the Lucy/Annie character.
