Final boss(es) of Darksiders were a pretty disappointing for me, after having to work out little tricks to take down all the previous bosses
Abbadon's final two forms, particularly the Destroyer
segment were far too linear and obvious. Of course the fact I'd already worked out
Failbaddon was to be the main villain
didn't help.

I'm with AJeh, I'm a bit of a sap for seeing Naruto actually have genuinely positive personal moments in his life. Sure the whole thing felt like a bit of a stretch, we still don't know where Kushina's spirit/chakra is coming from (my guess is the seal), Naruto's repeated use of the word "babe" to describe his mother is a tad worrying and Kumogakura has been seriously influenced by west-Africa for its kidnapping policy (and no unfortunate implications there at all).

Hey J-man, good to see you back here. How come you're using a new account instead of your old one ?
Anyway, I didn't really care much for the latest chapter. I really don't understand the point of Isshin stopping to teach Ichigo the final getsuga technique when they were just in a hurry. Isshin was the one rushing and now he wants to stop..... Come on. But then again Aizen is taking his sweet time walking so.....
Didn't much care for this chapter, Kubo set-up chapters never feel really worth the wait afterwards. Yet again it's drilled into out collective heads that Aizen is impossibly powerful, Ichigo is plagued by doubts he'll actually be able to do anything, Isshin has reverted to hot-blooded moron dad sadly and apparently it is just father and son to the rescue (although I'm certain we'll see Ryuken now that we're back to real Karakura). As for why Isshin wants to stop, he explained it pretty well, time doesn't affect that area between worlds so however long Isshin and Ichigo spend training they'll still pop out the other side of the gate roughly instantly after they entered it and with Ichigo's performance against Gin he really needs some training. I figure Isshin's also going to get him to don his Hollow mask and make a comment about how he's out of balance again.

I've had to deal with a couple of lousy teachers over the last few years, some due to their personalities others due to the fact they were just terrible at or utterly disinterested in their job. The two worst offenders that come to mind however were my 5th and 6th year (final two years of high school before university) English and Chemistry teachers. The latter is by far the single worst teacher I have ever come across, average classes would involve us dutifully jotting down her summaries of the whatever chapter we were working on in relative silence for forty-five minutes with nearly no interaction between us, made all the worst by her terribly monotonous, droning voice which would quite literally sap the will to live out of you. Her skill at actually imparting knowledge, as well as being able to actually display some level of original thinking of her own was severely lacking, if it wasn't explained in the textbook, or you didn't grasp the explanation of the textbook you were pretty much shit out of luck. Of the six of us in the class, five of us including myself were attending tutors, and the one who relied on the teacher ending up failing. My former English teacher is a bit of a mixed bag, we both started in the school the same year and I've had him every year for six years for English and to be fair to him he does display a great aptitude for and love of the subject. The problem with this man however is two-fold, one if there is anything even remotely relating to the school's senior or junior hurling teams he will abandon all his classes (including those facing state-set exams that year) in favour of supervising the training or merely observing and these absences could occur as often as once a week. The second element I've always found distasteful about this man is his ego, and utter lack of respect to those who find themselves in his contempt often. While I absolutely respect a teacher's right to discipline those in his class who act in a wayward or disruptive manner, there were incidents which could only be described as vulgar and juvenile, the most irksome of which would be a tendency to snap his fingers and point with his middle-finger alone extended at someone whose attention he desired or roar abuse ("I don't remember asking you a goddamn thing" being a favoured response). While I got on well enough with him inside and outside of class I must admit there were times when I wanted to grab and break those offending fingers and generally viewed him with a mixture of loathing and disgust at a man in his now thirties acting like a spoiled-child. Irish teachers also rub me rather the wrong way, but that's mostly because I consider it a practically dead language with absolutely no value continued by individuals with no interest in modernising it or the way it's taught and who invariably are at odds with anything resembling progression, the fact that I voice this opinion when asked probably doesn't help. I'm rather curious to see what Oboro and Hiryuu have been up to lately myself, the former more so than the latter because he seems to be going all Aizen on us and Lord knows I'd like to see that character type without it becoming Boring Invincible Villain as the *****-Curl has. I think after Elmore we have a good chance of seeing the plot shift again for a while.

As far as I know CR will still let you watch it for free, you just have to wait a week after the initial broadcast.
Personally, I think Hulu is the perfect place for this, since it makes shows available for free with limited commercial interruption. The fans can preview a series they want to watch and the companies still get ad revenue, so everyone wins.
My one big problem with Hulu is the fact that it's restricted to the U.S., but yeah if they want to do free sites with ads, or paid sites without them either are ways to go about giving fans what they want while still earning revenue.

Manga U.S. & Japan Bring Down the Banhammer on Pirates
Gavin replied to Kei's topic in Otaku Central
Even though I understand companies attempting something like this as a show of force, I genuinely don't see this as bringing about any huge change in the fan-translation sector. As with anime there's just going to be new groups doing it, hosting it on different sites or in a different manner, the same thing has been attempted for years with comic books and there's never really been any headway. I actually view this in the same way I view attempts to get rid of illegal fansubs, the easiest way is to provide fans with a cheap, legal, online alternative then there's no excuses like "Well I don't want to have to wait months/years for the official English/Spanish/Jibberish release to keep up with the story" which to be fair I view as not perfectly excusable but certainly having an element of reasonability to it. Given the huge numbers following weekly manga releases outside Japan that would seem the most sensible and likely successful path to pursue. [Edit] Just browsing through the posts on ANN and I must say, it actually rather irks me when people talk as if the only manga fans in existence are American. Trying to get manga legally in Ireland is almost a chore of despair unless you order it online. Just did a quick check on Amazon.co.uk, Volume 1 of Bleach would cost me somewhere around â?¬10 to import, and half of that cost is postage alone. >_< -
Certainly Pumpkin I'm very excited to see how Bioware are going to juggle their own great storytelling ability with the dynamic nature of an MMO particularly how their group story quests will be differentiated from their individual story quests (i.e. the player's class story) or how playing with a friend as a companion is going to work for making decisions. The fact that TOR seems to have a lot more direction than SWG in terms will hopefully not prevent their from being plenty of exploring to do at the same time. I'm also hoping that Bioware get away from grinding and gear-centric stats as a focus for play. I think a lot of people are missed what Daniel Erickson was trying to say, even if he phrased it terribly. I think the big thing for Bioware in TOR is to get away from having MMO's so reliant on the community to provide for the player at end-game, by which I mean I think we're going to see Bioware possibly go down the road of The Matrix Online's continuous content release to get away from players having to been in a good guild to get to do the hardcore stuff to have the most complete game experience. I do enjoy hardcore play, either PvE or RvR with a good guild but I certainly understand for the average player who doesn't have a crapload of free time, endgame is effectively the death zone of an MMO for them where content and "the point" Erickson was talking about end. Back in this thread I discussed how if anime distributors weren't prepared to embrace streaming or online legal downloading as a method of dissemination for their product then they might as well embrace their own financial destruction. I'm not sure how many people followed it or supported it but in the last few weeks Crunchyroll launched a campaign to secure Bleach for legal simulcast and fansubbing from Japan, suffice to say they have been successful in that regard and now Crunchyroll has two of the three main WSJ animes in it's possession. Taking a slightly larger view of things I curious to see just how far CR want to go in bringing in new licences, how long before we see One Piece and the Jump triforce is complete ? I'm also tentative to view this as akin to the beginnings of iTunes (or maybe the beginning of large scale acceptance for iTunes) in that hopefully we're going to see a lot more licences become available like this and anime fans are better able to support those production companies financially. Currently I'm on a free trial for Crunchyroll but I'm more than likely going to continue with paid membership when that expires. (The one thing I would like is for a slightly better looking translation for Bleach, haven't really been watching Naruto to judge its sub by comparison). Other OBer's thoughts and opinions ?

True enough. I suppose if it weren't for Kyouraku's plotkai shikai Stark probably would've won his fight, or at least pushed to the point we'd have seen a bankai or two. Really it's annoying to think despite having the top three Espada, a crap-load of captains and the entire corps of Vizard we only saw two bankai and one of them was just "lol show 'em a panel and then forget about it".

I don't know, I thought the whole idea around Ulquiorra being the Quattro Espada was to show how ridiculously OP the Top 3 should've been by comparison with their released states. I meant heck, Grimmjow as the 4th weakest Espada kicking Ichigo around like a rag-doll in all their fights was supposed to cement just how ****ed the Shinigami were. I think making Ulquiorra the Primera/Cero (and who knows with his Segunda Etapa he might very well have been the most powerful) wouldn't even really justify the poor performances of the other Espada above him.
Hoping said defeat is decided by a keeper charging up the field and punching it in Kahn-style, preferably with a deflection off Henry's face! Not that I'm the vengeful type...
Now that would be rather awesome.
Also hoping England get somewhere but that's mostly out of a wish to see the incredibly pessimistic press & supporters shut up for five minutes Looking forward to watching the Dutch play too, if only to see van Persie have a touch of the flippin' ball (the man works magic, I tell thee).
So long as they don't win out overall (and less likely now that Ferdinand has returned to his comfort zone of the injuries list) I don't really mind. Listening to them still go on about that one world cup they won four decades back becomes a tad tiring. Love watching the Dutch play actually, great team, like the love-child of German technique and Spanish style.
The second reason I don't want to increase the max width is that, while yes, there's more room in the postbit, it looks ugly to have avatars jammed right up against the borders with barely any padding. The current width matches up nicely with the width of the text info below it, creating a fairly uniform column of information. If you raise the dimensions too big, the avatars will look disproportionately large compared to the rest of the postbit. Thus why I say overly large avatars are tacky. On the subject of whether avatars in the site's library should be square or rectangular, I don't see any problem with having both as long as we pick two uniform sizes. There are some images that simply look better in the rectangular format and some that look better in square. Allowing both will only provide more high quality avatars.
Wisdom above.

Holy moly. Lord knows what the jump between Junas and Grana is going to be if the 2nd Star Commander is strong enough to total both Shao and Ageha without any visible effort on his part, but yes certainly Iwashiro has a far better grasp of how to make characters live up to their introductions. Given his performance against Kagetora back in the present and now, those Illuminas cores have really augmented his power something ridiculous.
Ageha's dad
showing up was a bit of a shocker too, first Isshin and how this, seems badass dads coming to the rescue is the order of the day now.

[strike]Death[/strike] Defeat to the cheating French!
