2. I think it just happened to be one of those weeks where they get the translated version a bit earlier than usual, there's been nothing said about no chapter next week anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. Well that is there to say about this chapter aside from thank Christ Kubo is finally showing that some of the Espada are somewhat worthy of the hype he generated around them in the beginning. Barrigan is becoming more and more awesome with every page he's shown in (loving his Grim Reaper release, makes for major irony) and we might actually see a couple of casualties pretty soon if logic follows. Had to laugh at Hitsu's arrogance being turned against him, and at least Kubo shot down the theory that he'll win just because he can control water.
 3. Happily I can say I've never had to rely on pick-up lines, I find genuine conversation with genuine interest and compliments work far better. That said I've heard some truly awful ones from semi-drunk friends while in the time-honoured role of wingman, a few choice ones follow: "You know, you look just like my next girlfriend." "Can I borrow your phone ? I told my mother I'd call her when I found the girl of my dreams." "I'm sorry, I dropped my number back there can I yours ?" And the single worst pick-up line I've ever heard: "How about we go halves on a baby ?"

 11.
I would've liked to see more Sulu, Scotty, and McCoy, but to each his own. Great movie.
I actually have to agree with this a little, not to spoil anything on anyone
but the fact that Scotty only appears in the last 30 minutes of the film was a pity, especially give how good a performance Pegg gave for the character.

 12. Well I'm still holding onto the hope Hali won't be killed off through some other plotkai for Shota-taichou, although his rampant popularity does lead one to suspect. Speaking from a point of abject logic he should still be badly outmatched by her.
 13.
This movie just confirmed for me that JJ Abrams is fast becoming one of my favourite directors. I think he almost pulled off the impossible here - to re-imagine the original Star Trek in a way that actually dovetailed beautifully with the original series while also being something completely new. Even the casting choices were great - I rarely sat there comparing these actors to their 60's counterparts. I would say that the Star Trek films have desperately needed a massive shake-up like this anyway. After Insurrection and Nemesis (neither of which I liked and both of which I felt just didn't do any justice to the Star Trek concept), I'm relieved that we've got something that breathes some life into the ageing series. One thing I particularly liked about this film was the design - it was retro 60's but with a modern twist. The high-intensity white lighting throughout the Enterprise's bridge, for instance, worked really well (there are even times where the light blooms block out characters for a moment because of their intensity - somehow it feels very suitable). I also liked that Abrams wasn't afraid to make substantial changes to some of the characters
like the relationship between Spock and...Uhura? I have no idea how to spell her name.
Far from being jarring, I actually thought that worked beautifully. Not to mention it gave added depth to a character that rarely had it in the past (and I'm not referring to Spock). So, yeah, I was impressed with Star Trek. Beautiful visuals, some excellent shots, wonderful actors and even a fun yet completely logical (haha) cameo. Great stuff.
All of this, it really sums up my feelings on the film. It's great to see the Star Trek franchise come back with a bang after the stuttered ending of Enterprise. Is there any word about potential sequel ? As they've created a whole new timeline to have fun with.

 23. Somewhat surprised there's been no thread on this but oh well. So I decided to go see the new Wolverine prequel at the weekend with my brother, didn't exactly have high expectations walking in what with knowing 90% of the plot from the outset through the sequels but I figured it might have some nifty CGI, a couple of decent fights and maybe some well written dialogue. Sadly coming out of the cinema just over an hour and a half later I was left with the distinct impression this had been a waste of money. Don't get me wrong the beginning of the movie has all the makings of a successful film but a lousy ending comes crashing down so fast you're left so simply gape and internally scream WTF?!!! to the point of aneurism. I'm not going to post spoilers simply because there's not that much to spoil in the movie and what there is to spoil just isn't worth spoiling. While not quite as bad as Dragonball Evolution I just hope they don't screw up the Magneto Origins movie this badly.
 24. Seems I've come off pretty lucky compared to most people when it comes to fast-food restaraunts, the worst I've ever experienced with has been cold fries and even then they replaced them when I brought it up with no issue. That said the world food service experiences I've ever had have all come from the same restaurant over on the west coast my family goes to when we're visiting relatives. First time I ate there I found a large sliver of broken glass in my salad (as a child you're more so thinking "Oh cool" rather than "Where's my ****ing lawyer?!"). Second time a couple of years later under new management my steak which I'd ordered as well-done (and I never under-emphasise the term) was still red in the middle for which I received a curt apology from the waiter and a 10 minute delay while another piece was cooked as the rest of my meal was left as is and went cold while I was waiting. Final time around and new management yet again my food arrived twenty minutes later than the rest of the family's (despite my brother ordering the same damn thing), received neither an explanation nor an apology and my drink order was ignored until I called the waiter over twice. Being utterly livid I asked to see the manager, explained as calmly as I could my displeasure at the service before stating I expected some form of recompense. His offer was that I would receive a 25% discount on the meal and my response was that he go have intercourse with himself. By far the most irritating thing however is my mother insists we eat in that place every time we take out relatives out to dinner because the food and service is so good. :animesigh
 25. Having watched the first five episodes of Brotherhood I've realised it's going to be slightly dull watching the plot progress almost exactly like the first series until the first branched off into original plot. Also as much as I try I just can't get used to Miki's voice for Mustang, it's too light for me and doesn't hold the same depth of authority Okawa's did. The same actually goes for Miyake's portrayal of Scar, his voice doesn't lend itself well to a character who is supposed to become an anti-hero. Maybe giving it a little more time I'll warm to Miyake but I don't think I'll ever like Miki as Mustang.
