Funniest moment of the episode: Andrei getting swatted away when Setsuna launched into Trans-Am mode. Fantastic.
Agreed. Given his
attachment to Louise, and somewhat prophetic sounding "I will do what you cannot" (which I take to mean kill Saji) then I get the feeling he and Saji are going to face off at some point in the future. Here's Crossroad can rocket up the character favourite ladders of most people by killing that patricidal ***.

Mythic's new MMO Warhammer: Age of Reckoning is pretty much built around mass PvP (referred to as RvR in-game because you'll never be fighting solo) so you might want to check it out. I know a few guys other than myself play the game and so far it's been very cool. The game's not free unfortunately but if you're looking for a month of good PvP the cost of the trial is probably worth it. I never played sub-based MMOs either and don't regret moving to WAR.

Well another week, another shiteload of twists to leave 00 fans scratching their collective heads and wondering when exactly things are going to simplify up and the good guys go and kick the bad guys *****. (The number of people who support the Federation out there in interwebzland is rather scary, fascism and secret police FTW apparently) Highlights from this week's episode include:

Saji grew balls! Yes my favourite character in the second season (Lyle just hasn't got Neil's awesomeness for me yet) apparently is willing to fight for Celestial Being now. Sure he said he's only willing to fight his own battles (i.e. continue Operation Get-Back-Louise) but that's a big step up from where he's been in just looking for her, and I get the feeling he's going to be open about agreeing with CB's intentions before too long as well.

Soma is still back
but apparently being exposed to 00 Gundam's Trans-Am Aura is enough to trigger the return of the merged personality for Allelujiah which is probably going to make that relationship even stranger.

Ribbons
screws the CB's plans up again. You'd think they'd know better than to try to interrogate and capture one alone knowing their all linked (although perhaps they don't know this, Tieria always seemed a bit thick).

Gun shot of doom at the episode's end. I personally reckon it's Lyle having to shoot the woman he professed his love for only an episode before. Horray for Gundam 00 continually driving home the belief that you cannot have true love if you fight for the benefit of the world.

Marina is
still alive. God damn it I hate this woman. She's too like every other Gundam heroine who believes in non-violence while allowing her boyfriend to go murder mooks by the million in the name of her better world through words alone. Sure she'll probably live through to the end and succeed 00bama but when so many better characters have died and she's still here I can't muster any liking for her.

Finally, and most importantly
Wang Liu Mei is finally dead (Horray!!) but so is her kick-*** brother Hong Long (Not nearly enough development for the silent kick-*** bodyguard, I demand Orenji-fication of him) both killed by Ribbons through Nina Trinity (Why, oh why is this ***** not killed ? Seriously she's as nuts as Ali and not nearly as cool. Jihad-sama will hopefully finish the job off later.)

Overall not a bad episode, looking forward to next week.
Have you ever caught a mechanic trying to rip you off? -Shy
Generally speaking I think it's a long estalished fact that a lot of mechanics out there are liars, charlatains and con-men trying to rip you off by playing on the fact that you probably don't know enough about cars to be able to call them on whatever line they throw at you. Most of the time I think it'd best to get an opinion from several people you know on who they bring their cars to and if a name pops up regularly enough then you're probably safe with that one.

Agreed, although, Konoha's been lacking in the intelligence department since Pein invaded if you ask me. Seeing how it's now down to 1 body, this is really where Shikamaru should be supporting Naruto at. Or rather, this is the perfect opportunity for him to be supporting Naruto. His shadow jutsu is a perfect counter to the force. Yet everyone is so hell bent on letting Naruto try to fight this alone.
I think in a roundabout way this is their expression of ultimate trust in Naruto as a village to be able to overcome Pein by himself. Yes it's a bit silly that they're not interrupting but it's all for the sake of creating drama so that Naruto's victory is ultimately his, bad writing probably but you've got to respect the faith they have in him. I also imagine most of the adults know who Naruto is (i.e. Minato's son) and this in another roundabout way is his test to become Hokage seeing as the hag is also apparently dying of ultimate-sacrifice-chakra-loss-no-jutsu.
How so, other than the hairstyle and the compulsive need to be surrounded by clones?
I think it's quite obvious that Pein and Naruto are supposed to be a mirror image of one another on different paths. Both as children had a similar up-bringing due to being orphaned by war as well as the isolation brought about by their development of their respective god-like powers. I mean we've never heard anything but rumour about the power of the Kyuubi fully unleashed (and the Hachibi was incapacitated before he could do anything) so I don't think it's too outlandish to assume that given the damage Gaara's transformed form could do (or the fear of it) that Naruto's power would be exponentially greater. Even moving aside the fact they were trained by the same man (which would give them a common set of beliefs being handed down) Pein and Naruto were basically the same character at a fork in the road and chose utterly different paths. Pein in ascending to godhood as he claims had shed any concern or bonds he had with others in the names of attaining peace (and I believe he's genuine in this claim) where as Naruto attempts to create a better world by forming more and more bonds with those he encounters. At least that's how I see it, I may be wrong.

At the minute I've been reading through Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Guren Gakuenhen AKA AU High School Gurren Lagann and so far I admit it's been very enjoyable. While there's only been four chapters released in English so far I would certainly say it's well worth any fan of the anime or the regular manga having a look for a chuckle.
Next chapter is probably going to be the one I'm interested in the most. Pein talks, and hopefully we hear what Pein truly is. I'm curious about what Ino's pop's thought of.
Agreed, while the fighting and Naruto demonstrating that there is indeed something more than sawdust between his ears has been very entertaining you really can't beat a villain giving his true reasons for why he has done the things he has done to develop a plot. Pein and Naruto are a lot alike in many ways and I think that's what's made the confrontation between these two so good.

Depending on how my weekend pans out I may get another post for Dawlish up though I doubt it will be any more than just more character interactions and plotting with Macey (because you know that's just what they do) regarding the future. Something that I also want to address because I think there's been a lot of misunderstanding on both sides that's beginning to cause some real issues is how I'm portraying Dawlish in this story. Frankly I think people have known me, and worked with me long enough to know my calibre as a writer and this assertion coming from certain quarters that I've degenerated into a god-modder only interesting in having his character show off is quite insulting. The biggest problem I suppose is that only a few people know exactly the side-story involving Dawlish throughout the RPG as a whole. His actions and personality while coming off as self-centred, childish and lackadaisical to the outside world (really important point) are substantially different from his thoughts, actions and motivations which go on outside those around him with the exception of Esther. While I wouldn't go as far as to say he's effectively leading two lives, it's a certain fact that his newer extroverted personality is a mask for what's really going on beneath. His own brother admits he doesn't even recognise him any more for the man he was and seems to have fallen prey to the evils of celebrity and wealth. Another problem I suppose, is knowing the ending to the RPG and much of the skeleton story is that I can see how it develops and makes certain actions I've take make more sense in the longer run. I do also appreciate though that those who don't (and I sometimes forget this) would almost definitely not see Dawlish the same way I do because they don't know what's going to happen. Really this has been Almagest's greatest boon and flaw in one, we get great surprises but at the same time anyone writing a side-plot has to be very careful about how it's constructed so things aren't misconstrued. There are other certain things I'm more than willing to accept that I misinterpreted since before the RPG even began that have caused problems. For instance my assertion that Dawlish had become the richest man in the known world had come about because I had thought he was the first person to sell magitechnology outside of Czenovia as opposed to Czenovia indeed having the monopoly but being a substantial exporter to other nations as well. From my perspective if Dawlish had managed to be the first person to introduce magitechnology to the rest of the world then it only made sense he could quite quickly become one of the world's richest men even with his manufacturing facilities being only 2 years old. A more accurate portrayal now is that while he is substantially well off he is probably significantly less wealthy than his uncle Leonhart due to Magitech being a much older and larger company, even after Dawlish inheriting and removing his father's share of the company. An example I think works well that occurred to me after a conversation with James on this last night was that while I believe Magitech probably didn't sell weapons to those outside Czenovia (I may be wrong here) and by their very nature weapons are an incredibly profitable business to be in, Lockheed Martin will never be bigger than Wal-Mart because of the saturation point reached with weapons eventually. Anyway that was just something I wanted to get off my chest because honestly I didn't want any more ill-feeling to occur over this. I'll happily elaborate more if people need me to.

No problems, I suppose I was just in the mood to rewrite it after replying though I did expect it to take longer. Causing drama is not something I aim to do after all, not unless someone's changed my username to Sandy at some point when I wasn't looking. Ace is also correct James I actually edited a few paragraphs before the actual landing which dealt with Dawlish's shuttle leaving the Meridia to ferry them over to the Alaina. And there's no need to thank me Ace it would've been my fault in the first place if you had to go off and edit.

I think people's criticims of the post have been perfectly accurate and there's relatively little I can say to defend it. Admittedly I got a bit carried away writing and went counter to my intention to have Dawlish actually appear a less one-dimension character than his sign up made him appear. I will attempt to remedy things as best I can over the course of the next few days as unfortunately I've become quite busy again and rushing things last time seems to have lead to this problem. Something perhaps that has not been established is that Dawlish is very much a second and separate faction in Almagest with a story that is entwined with his relatives. This was something that was developed prior to the launch and perhaps something I've come to regret helping to establish in the first place due to the fact it does make the writing quite complicated from my end. James your comments about Madame Grimoire was something I hadn't realised and it wasn't my intention to write something that would seem out of character. When I said Grimoire I did mean the company but it probably didn't come off like that so you have my apologies in that regard. For the moment if people would simply continue as though Dawlish turned up uninvited from his larger ship that would probably make things for all concerned for me to write the revision while allowing Ace's post to remain relatively intact. Again I do regret that this came out quite badly as it was not my intention to make such a mess of things. [Edit] Seems the edit came through far quicker than I thought, hopefully this keeps in better with the established plot.
?My lord, we?re approaching the expected position of the Alaina for this time and have located a ship.? Dawlish?s fingers glided across the elegant ivory keys of the grand piano in front of him, a sombre tune more reminiscent of a funeral dirge than a wedding melody filling the stately room he?d seconded himself to in preparation for their arrival. Sighing quietly he withdrew from the instrument, rubbing his right wrist slightly before redonning his gloves. ?Excellent, thank you Soran. Have the crew make the necessary preparations and ensure that everything is, and goes as planned. Should anything happen to ruin my cousin?s wedding I shall be looking for new human participants for my evening exercise.? The Al-Ahmari flinched visibly at the comment, their master did not tolerate failure and the nature of his exercises were spoken of with fear and hushed tones. Dawlish allowed the comment to hang in the air between them, adjusting his dinner jacket without returning his attention to the servant. His tone was never menacing, without a hint of aggression or malice but it never needed to be. Just like with his detractors, half rumours were expanded upon into innately held fears and they sufficed better than any other motivator he could think of. Yes loyalty obtained through fear was utterly superior to loyalty bought. ?Of course my lord. All shall be as you command it.? He smiled as the man automatically bowed and withdrew from the room, his back still firmly arched forward in subservience. Walking slowly over to the window Dawlish watched the clouds whip by. For a ship of its size its speed was quite surprising, and even that was not its true trump card. The doors opened and he gave a half glance over his shoulder as Esther drew into the room, her form accentuated perfectly by the new gown. It as most regretful that she remained unwilling to publicly admit they were involved but perhaps with time that would change. Wordlessly she drew up beside him, he arm moving around the small of his back as she hugged in close to him and his left arm embraced her. They watched the clouds in silence for several moments before she broke it. ?I saw Soran in the hall, you frightened him half to death Dawlish.? Her tone wasn?t accusatory, though neither was it admonishing, a simple statement that somehow stung him to have it come from her. ?I know, I?m sorry. Soran has been an excellent servant his predecessor?s death but sometimes my dear I must use unpleasant techniques to ensure that nothing is risked. Tonight must go absolutely perfectly in my plans are to proceed as expected.? He felt her grip tighten against him and again they were left in one another?s silence, simply to gaze at the clouds passing by. His family, he thought silently, would not be pleased to see him, in fact that would probably be putting it very, very lightly. The manner in which he would now make his grand re-entrance into their lives was also bound to cause further contention as well. It didn?t exactly perturb him to have become such a pariah, Leonhart and his kin had come through the revolution without any irreplaceable loss so who were they to judge Dawlish based on his choices, having buried all but his youngest brother. Harrison...It had been too long since he?d seen him, but his brother had made his feelings on the matter of joining Icarus and Dawlish quite clear twelve months beforehand. It had stung to have him turn down the offer flatly, but in retrospect Harrison seemed to have settled into the military well in the two years since he?d been commissioned so perhaps Dawlish had been foolish in believe he would simply leave at his brother?s call. They would have a talk later, away from the others, after all it was nearly time for him to receive his share of their inheritance. Maybe this time his answer would be different, Dawlish did not expect it to be but there was always a chance. Of course then there was his nephew Ivan to deal with. The existence of the boy had come as quite a surprise to the normally meticulous Dawlish, but then the way in which he had come to learn of his nephew could hardly be described as normal circumstances. Doubtless the boy would come charging at him full of rage and retribution intending to avenge his father?s ignoble death at the hands of his uncle, he would have to pitch the idea to the literary division and have them create a book out of it. Funny, even now the boy was helping push his plans, if only financially. ?You?ve gone very quiet Dawlish, having second thoughts ?? Broken from his pattern of thought he shook his head slightly and smiled. ?Never. The party needs a bit of excitement.? She rolled her eyes and then sighed as the Alaina came into view from their descent. The gentle hum of the ship quietened to a whisper as the crew were preparing everything as per his instructions. This is really going to cause he scene he thought amusedly. Dawlish would have to give Gustave credit where it was due, the Alaina was quite a beautiful ship to view from the outside. The sunset seemed to create a pearlescent effect on the exotic varnished timbers of her hull, and the way in which he sails caught the gentle evening breeze gave it an elegant and almost lifelike quality. Esther remained perfectly professional in front of the other staff as they stepped onto the much smaller craft that would rendezvous with the Alaina. As far as they were concerned she was simply accompanying him as his assistant to the formal function, the fact she was wearing such an expensive dress would be accepted as a requirement for the event rather than something more personal between the two. A single low whine and the shuttle left the safety of the much larger vessel behind, making a beeline for the Alaina?s open bay. Dawlish would have to admit that despite leaving the military he still found piloting a pleasurable activity, moments later the ship touched down, it was somewhat surprising there were no security guards present, after all if someone with ill-intent were to arrive one never knew what could happen. ?Please Dawlish, don?t do anything rash that you?ll regret later.? He gave her a knowing smile before offering her his hand, yes tonight would be complicated, for a variety of reasons. The Alaina was quite a bit more spacious inside than he?d expected, a litany of servants moving to and fro between the rooms where the guests were dining. It had been a servant, who at a glance appeared to have been dipping into the wine he was supposed to be ensuring reached the attendees that had provided Dawlish and Esther with directions towards the main reception room. After a set of jovial hics the man proceeded to slap Dawlish on the shoulder and say that the newlyweds would hardly be impressed by party-crashers but that he was probably well-dressed enough to get away with it. Oddly he felt something like butterflies in his stomach before actually walking into the room, it had been a long time since he?d seen most of them in person, even his recent contact with Macey had been conducted through a medium. Perhaps it was down to the fact the last time he?d seen them all had been at his father?s funeral and what had occurred after it was something he still found quite difficult to even think about. ?Dawlish ?? Oh well so much for making a grand entrance. ?Hello Macey, lovely evening isn?t it ?? She wasn?t in the mood for jokes. ?You absolute cretin. Do you have any idea how badly Bea will react to this? There was a reason you were left off the guest list although perhaps they?d have been more intelligent just invite you rather than allow you to create a commotion by crashing the party.? Her expression softened into a small smile. ?Honestly, only you would arrive uninvited to a reception being held thousands of feet above the ground. I take it that ship was yours then? It caused something of a panic among the Anovans, though I suspect most of the Almagests knew it was probably you.? ?I take it you?re getting on splendidly with your new family members?? She glared at him before tugging on his arm. ?Well no sense in having you wait out here alone in the hallway, you might be mistaken for a servant.? He doubted Macey could gather any more satisfaction from leading him inside though he strode as confidently as if it had been his idea entirely. The reactions went as expected, a dozen mutters, a few sighs, a litany of eyes glancing at the ceiling before someone deigned to break the verbal silence that had been marked by a rather jolly Anovique waltz in the background. ?I suppose this means you lose the bet Fonty, Macey was the first one to find him.? His cousin muttered something that sounded distinctly like ?probably only came upon him by chance getting away from the Achards? but Leonhart merely waved his son off and shook his head at seeing Dawlish. ?You really are an incorrigible man sometimes Dawlish.? Beatriste appeared to be debating how exactly she would respond to his arrival, probably assessing exactly how she would be judged based on the rumours that would spring forth from the evening. In the end she gave him what he knew was a mock smile and spoke in a tone he recalled her using only to scold him, not that anyone would know from the tone?s sweetness. ?Dawlish how wonderful of you to join us, we did hope your business wouldn?t keep you away. And who?s your company for this evening, such a lovely young lady.? ?Of course I would make time to see my family my dear Beatriste, it is not often we have such happy occasions to celebrate. This is my assistant Esther, I?m afraid I simply left at the last minute and chose to come almost alone." He gave a small laugh before turning to lock eyes with her new husband. "Cole my sincerest congratulations, you've landed quite a catch here. I imagine seeing as we're family now I'll get a discount on all that silver I buy from you." "I wouldn't count on it Dawlish, I thought you said business was business." Anyone from outside probably wouldn?t see beyond the veneer of cheer. Thankfully that was shattered relatively quickly. ?You murdering bastard.? Ah, time to meet his nephew.

Oh and Gavin does make a point, a really good score for scenes will make you choke a little, or can. But only because it's surprising (at least to me) when they do have something really good, music wise, for those moments.
Well if a great piece of music is needed at any point in a game, significant character deaths are probably the most important. But yes it can be surprising just how much a good piece can generate an emotional response you didn't expect. I always considered
MGS3
to be more of an interactable movie rather than a game due to how involved you felt with the characters.
Hmm and Grr... (at the same time. So it would be... Grrmm/Hmmrrr) Do we really need to go back to see Rukia and the tree? If Kubo's gonna go back to someone, go back and show me the captains vs the other espadas.
Agreed wasting time with foddergami is pretty irritating during some of the big fights. Well all know Rukia is going to win this fight, either on her own or with the help of Renji or her brother so watching her face a new bunch of enemies is nothing but a yawnfest. For this though I seriously wish Kubo would pick a fight and stick with it, either the captains in the real world (in which case he shouldn't have moved back to Ichigo) or Strawberry vs Emocar without interruption. As far as I'm concerned unless Uryuu learns how to pull that Quincy Final Form out without losing all his powers (and I imagine that's the Quincy equivalent of a Bankai) then he needs to back off and STFU plz. Pretty cool about Ulquiorra's release, a lot of people seem to have guessed it already from the fanart but it should make for an interesting fight.
