Nicely done Phil, I always enjoy reading OB parodies even if I never offer any constructive criticism to the writer. I personally found the argument between the pair about what to call James the funniest, because it was so silly and worked so well. Though Lrb jumping on himself was also rather amusing. Lord knows how you'll portray me Phil but I'm sure it'll be funny. D'Ann, Ace and I making up the most dysfunctional family in Otakubury but you, you can't spell dysfunctional without fun.
Nope, because they are that stupid. o_O They've been going downhill with campaigns that make no sense for a while now.
Just wait, pretty soon they'll have a campaign claiming cannibalism is both nature?s ultimate population control and food-source for humans, and they'll do it with completely straight faces. On the positive side we'll be able to hunt down and kill every member of PETA and claim we're doing it for food rather than sport.

I have to agree with Magus, this week's chapter was pretty uninteresting overall. The fact that Yammy is still acting like he's God-damned invincible after the next five guys ranked higher than him have been killed/badly beaten is a bit of a joke. Though I don't think Mayuri's mine killed him (because you just know he loves ****ing with that Quincy) and more than likely we'll be forced to watch Ishida and Orihime team up to take down the 10th Espada, which hopefully will take up less than one page of the manga so we can focus on the real fight. On a side note the shippers are probably going crazy over this.
And I'm obviously missing something here. Where's the real Naruto body? Is it on the battlefield or is it back at the mountain? If it's at the mountain, then all that I said can be null and voided.
There is no real one. :p Heh sorry I couldn't resist that. To answer your question the real Naruto has been on the battlefield all the time, what's he's done is fill the two bunshins back on Toad Mountain with Sage chakra before left and then releasing them to transfer that chakra back into himself effectively recharging his lost chakra immediately on need. I have to say though combining Sage chakra, kage bunshin and the reverse kuchiyose in the way he has (apparently without the toads help) is actually bloody impressive for the lad. He's taken all his own unique strengths and played them very well with one another, God knows what'll happen if he can ever integrate the Kyuubi's chakra into the whole thing. Either way I'm actually looking forward to the big face off next week, Pein still has his resurrection body but it's pretty obvious it and Naruto's last Sage bunshin are going to be gone soon.

*Is also a no voter* As Josh said a rep system would just lead to popularity contests on a mass scale which is pretty undesirable on OB in my opinion. We're a small enough community with only a few dozen active members where everyone pretty much knows everyone else after a while so in that regard I don't even see the necessity of a rep system.

I think as with most people here it's a question of the quality of the dubbing in English that determines how I'll watch a series. In older anime like DBZ, Zoids or Cowboy Bebop the dubbing is great and I'll happily sit down and watch them, but with other series like Bleach the voices are fake sounding or away from the spirit of the character I prefer subs for authenticity. Another reason I watch subs is if a series in on-going I like to keep watching a series progress as quickly as possible. Reading a manga is fine and all, but Bleach's fight scenes are always more enjoyable with animated.

Right somewhere after about the bajillionth badly attempted Irish accent in Hollywood films (where they don't automatically cast a Scottish actor assuming it's the same accent) I've lost the ability to empathise with people about badly done ethnic casting. It's being directed by perhaps one of the worst directors in Hollywood M. Night "What a Twist" Shyamalan so any hopes of a good film should be parked at the door. Fans of Dragonball utterly derided the idea that a live-action film could ever match the animated series so I see the same complaints arising there (seriously if you think messing up dark or Asian skin is bad, screwing up green with antennae should be a death penalty by comparison). All in all I don't see what all the hubbub is about, really I'd be more worried about M. Shite penning the next film. Oh and yes I am actually an Avatar fan, thought I might need to mention that.

[OFFICIAL] The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty of 2008 - Nominations
Gavin replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
Just to let everyone know the deadline for nominations of this years Nifty Fifty has been extended until February 7th, for those of you who haven't already voted please use this additional time to sumbit your nominations. Who Is He ? Ace Why Is He Nifty ? Aside from making me laugh every damn week with his parody of popular manga Naruto Ace has really grown to become a central member of Otakuboards as a whole in the last twelve months. With the dip in activity from Dragon Warrior we're still assured a laugh from Ace. Good job and looking forward to another year of your company. Who Is He ? Josh/Shy Why Is He Nifty ? Arguably the greatest member in OB's long history, it has and continues to be my great pleasure to be able to call Josh my friend and mentor. Again here's looking forward to working with you again next year. What Are They ? lolcats/funpics What Are They Nifty ? For teh lulz. Who Is She ? D'Ann/Raiha Why Is She Nifty ? [strike]Because I'm really biased[/strike] Two Words: Little Deaths. Ranging from some of the most humourous to the most disturbing deaths every written, LD was a great series and will hopefully see a revival. Who Are They ? Oldies who've returned Why Are They Nifty ? It proves my being here for over seven years is the result of accepting the addiction to OB is incurable, so why bother fighting it. All joking aside it's awesome to see familiar faces return. Who Are They ? New Members Why Are They Nifty ? The lifeblood of OB aside from people like me who just won't leave, you always bring something good with you to help expand OB or make it better than it was before you arrived. -

Bah just as I finish you would choose to post wouldn't you? :p Your name: Dawlish Milan Almagest Your age: 41 Your connection to the Almagest or Achard family: Eldest nephew of Leonhart Almagest. Your portrait: Dawlish Your occupation/location: Dawlish is the founder, majority stakeholder and chief director of Icarus Industries arguably the largest manufacturer of magitechnological equipment in the known world specialising in weapons development for international powers as part of a more diverse portfolio of business. A proactive executive as well as weaponsmith Dawlish?s abode depends very much of where business takes him, owning a variety of luxury properties in the capitals of many New and Old Globe cities including High Czenoble?s Lux Aeterna and the famous Villa Gabriella in Le Monde, two of the most expensive properties in the world. Equally the Vide Desert between Czenovia and Le Monde where Icarus? main manufacturing facilities are located Your Story: The story of Dawlish Almagest could have been described as rather mundane until three years ago. As with many in his generation Dawlish found himself growing up in the shadow of his late father, legendary alchemist and soldier Daedalus Almagest. Rather than fight against his father?s chosen path in order to make a name for himself Dawlish immersed himself completely the legacy extended to him, graduating from Czenovia?s High Academy of Sciences with perfect marks in his final examinations and entering the military?s research and development division as a magitechnological scientist. A dedicated career officer from the outset Dawlish was nonetheless regarded as a alchemical prodigy to rival his father and uncle often transferred between projects when a developmental wall was struck by the team. His repeated successes lead to him being fast-tracked through several promotions to the rank of major by his late twenties and made chief engineer of the Sentinel, the flagship of Czenovia?s first fleet. The vast majority of his climbing the ranks done Dawlish settling comfortably into life working a life split between the military and Magitech Corporation where he was often seconded to work on joint-military projects under his father?s diligent eye. The pair worked well together but a similarity of personality as well as perfectionist tendencies would often lead to ?loud idea-exchanges? in the words of co-workers when different approaches were chosen. Disaster would strike on a mission to Brigit Mines when a bomb planted by dissidents destroyed part of the facility and left Dawlish needed several weeks recuperation and a prosthetic left leg. Although the sophistication of the replacement was such he could never be described as disabled, the fact that he had taken his father?s place as his behest was to drive a wedge between them that would not be fully mended for years. The Czenovian Rebellion was to the crucible for Dawlish to be reforged as a new man. While his actions during the final hours of the ill-fated Underdog Rebellion are still the subject of mixed reaction, the deaths of his father and sister during the rebellion and his brother and mother during the aftermath was to cause him to resign from the military in order to find his own path in life. His choice to form Icarus, as weapons manufacturing company from the ashes of Magitech?s severed limb was to create an estrangement between Leonhart and Dawlish that has continued to this day. Perhaps most controversially at that point Dawlish extended contracts to nations outside of Czenovia, beginning with Anova and later into several Old Globe nations including Al Ahmar and Oyashima thereby proliferating magitechnology, which had been up to that point held mostly by Czenovia out to the rest of the world. Seen as a bold and innovative move by allies, it nonetheless called into question Dawlish?s level of loyalty to his homeland. Choosing to move Icarus? main manufacturing facilities outside of Czenoble to the Vide Desert lying between Anova and Czenovia was also another major source of criticism leading to claims of ethical and scientific misconduct. In the face of press-releases from Icarus clarifying that the move to Vide was simply to access Anovan silver more easily (now a major component in many of the company?s products) and civilian protection in the very unlikely event of a catastrophe at the facilities, these claims though unsubstantiated remain a small thorn in the company?s side. Since the formation of Icarus Dawlish has shed his preference for privacy to become a notably public figure. He is a regular attendant of social functions in both Anova and Czenovia and has become somewhat known for eccentricity and what some have described as publicity stunts, such as purchasing the world-famous Les Trevilles restaurant in High Czenoble for an undisclosed amount simply to avoid making a reservation. Though his links with Czenovia have become somewhat frayed in the last few years the Daedalus Almagest Foundation, a charity for the families of soldiers killed or disabled during the Czenovian Revolution maintains a source of goodwill from his homeland even among detractors.

Meh having the read the chapter I'm a little more mollified at that fight given that Naruto only took out two of Pein's bodies at the cost of the vast majority of his Sage chakra. I have to agree with Magus here as well, the use of the FRS in that situation with four enemies left knowing it would consume the vast majority of his Sage chakra was a demonstration of Naruto's usual choice of firepower over tactics. In reality this fight has now become the second part of Ichigo vs Grimmjow, Naruto's new power has allowed him to own the fight up until this point but now the pain (pardon the pun) is coming big time for him. That said it's now God Pein versus the entirety of Konoha and I would argue that it is only when Pein has a multitude of bodies at his disposal he becomes S-Rank so mayhaps an ally will lead in to save the day, my personal hope being Guy as to avenge the death of his eternal rival. Really what annoys me is this fight came off cheap when with the right writing (even if it took ten chapters) could have come off as a decent testament to Naruto's growth in skill.

Funtime Thread of Humor and Mirth (and Junk.)
Gavin replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in General Discussion
Damn you basement cat!! -
A thread wherein I must justify my beliefs to someone who's clearly stated that they're only in it for the sake of arguing? I do believe I lack interest.
While I agree for the sake of discussion I will attempt to answer the questions posed while stating that I am not here to dissect my beliefs to someone else's satisfaction. These are my answers 13th if you disagree fine, but I won't be elaborating further than I have. In answer to the first question, aside from it evidently being posed in such a way as to be unanswerable except to prove that God is indeed not omnipotent the simple fact is that is that he is believed to be omnipotent therefore he could do both and neither. In answering your second question our interpretation of the word good is based on our mortal and non-omnipotent view of the world and events therein. Who is to say that from an omnipotent point of view God views himself as "Good" for allowing 6 billion of us to flourish across the face of a planet he is believed to have created and use it's resources for our own good. In fact one could argue that the damage we have caused to the planet and it's other inhabitants might not warrant the intervention of an omnipotent being to make everything a bed of roses. "Good" as others have said is far too vague a term to discuss when dealing with an omnipotent entity. And 13th please don't create threads simply because you want to argue with someone and then disregard their responses simply to continue arguing. The obvious fact is that religion is about personal belief and obviously that will differ from person to person. When or if you ever meet God feel free to pose these questions to him directly.
Sorry, but I forgot to put this in my last post, so here is the question: What episode does the movie Bleach The Diamond Dust Rebellion take place after?
Diamond Dust Rebellion actually doesn't take place after any episode Blitz, the Bleach movies like those of Naruto and Dragonball Z lie outside the regular universe of episodes due to the fact they don't fit in anywhere in the continuity. For example with DDR
Ichigo is clearly able to use his Vizard transformation freely which would indicate a setting in the Hueco Mundo arc.

Admittedly I've become the one to defend Naruto in the face of claims that he's become uber-haxed since his trip to Toad Mountain several chapters ago. Having read spoilers for this week however I'm going to have to admit that he's gone from Genin to God-Slayer and it's coming off as cheap as Sasuke's power-ups. First off Naruto has indeed learned how to throw the FRS demonstrating his new ability by slicing the long-haired Pein in half with ease. Next he fights Summon Pein within the bowels of Gamabunta (apparently) killing him as well before flying out of Bunta and Rasen-nuking two further Peins leaving only Yahiko left to face the Sennin's wrath...oh but then Naruto's Sage Mode ended (suspiciously quicker than Jiraiya's) thereby leaving Naruto open to a terrible ***-kicking in the next chapter. I think we can confidently say Sennin Mode has been mistranslated and should be Super Saiyan.

Well this week's spoilers are out and as predicted the two Hime-hating arrancar make good on their promise to attack Inoue, though apparently they only get as far as ripping her clothing. Ichigo goes to assist but is promptly intercepted by Ulquiorra leading one to wonder just how badly Loli and Menoli are going to get killed this time. Oh and more importantly than anything else Yammy is back, apparently he'd been hiding inside a wall all along. And seeing as positions within the Espada have opened up significantly I guess that makes him the new 6th Espada technically, Grimmjow having achieved a promotion to the 5th spot.

That certainly looks better to me Petie, and I think it makes sense overall to have the post count next to the member title considering the latter is based on the former.
-
Honestly I'm convinced James just did this to show off he's got the highest post count on OB. ;) In all seriousness though maybe we should do something about the way titles and post-counts are layout out because it's looking a bit cluttered to me.

Current skllngton all rumours of another Kingdom Hearts sequel are unsubstantiated. According to the Wiki article on the series The Keyblade Wars was simply a well crafted rumour with an accompanying piece of fake artwork. As things stand Square Enix have released nothing official about Kingdom Hearts 3.
Today I acted on impulse and bought it, despite all the signs pointing to no (turns out you have to be 18 to trade in used games at Gamestop, so I ended up paying the full price for it, ugh). Of course my computer's graphics card is incompatible. So now I'm trying to install it on a family laptop (I will probably lock it up in a password protected folder, haha) that will probably either have the same video card problem or will just run it super slow. If all else fails, hopefully I can wait five months to get a new laptop as a graduation present. :(
One thing I'll warn you about running Fallout 3 on a laptop Clurr is that it is an absolute system beast. I bought a fairly high-spec laptop a few weeks ago and I couldn't get it running beyond minimal graphics with some lag.
Yes, I know on a conservative board like this one, it is cool to mock vegans/vegetarians/etc but putting value-laden considerations aside, purely speaking in terms of our biology, we are certainly more vegetarian than anything else.
I can assure you Tophel that any mocking of vegan/vegetarians/etc is light-hearted and tongue-in-cheek rather than anything serious. Surely you can see the ridiculousness of this move by PETA as much as anyone else which has thus lead to the satire of what PETA stands for. As for calling OB a "conservative board" I have to admit you've given me a good chuckle with that one. While there are an array of political views expressed here on Otakuboards, I would say that those in the centre and left-wing far outnumber those on the right.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw how this fight mirrors that against Byakuya back at the end of the Soul Society arc. Seriously the "I've got your style all figured out" comment was identical to a similar line he jeered at the Sixth Division Captain at the beginning of their fight. That said I'd love to know how Ichigo has Ulquiorra's moves all figured out from a grand total of a one-handed Getsuga Tenshou block, a stab through the chest and his past five minutes of fighting. It's not like he had one of Ulquiorra's teachers coaching him for the past 2 weeks and an even enough fight before their final face-off. Now that said it is known Ichigo is a phenominally quick study (as is the case with every Shounen protagonist) so it's not completely unreasonable that he could accurately fill-in the missing pieces of Ulquiorra's style from similarities to the styles of others he's fought and defeated. As for Orihime's "interference" in the fight I'm not too bothered by, it beats her standing there like an idiot/statue as she normally does. Most epic thing about this chapter is Ulquiorra's first expression of emotion, even if it didn't actually show on his face from being called "more human". How I lol'd.

Evangelion: Dear. Sweet. God. Just how bloody depressed was the person who wrote Evangelion anyway ? Now I have mild OCD (Or CDO to put the letters in alphabetical order) so I'll finish out a normal 26 episode anime even if I don't care too much for the story or character. With Evangelion however, I managed 4 episodes before I simply could not muster the will to continue. Having actually read spoilers of the ending I'm unsurprised there is not a happy ending for Shinji and Co.
