So very, very random, I moved between the ^_^ and O_o expressions too many times to count really. Oh and Gav any heaven DB is in, I don't want to go anywhere near. :p

I just really laughed at this one for some reason. :animeswea

Even though this probably won't have any real effect on the amount of spam floating about out here on the internet, it's good to know that these dumbasses will face punishment if they're caught. I got a torrent of spam email over the summer this year, about two months solid of three to four emails every day and the solution of "just delete them" as espoused by the King of Spam seriously became tiresome after a while. These guys should seriously be banned from going near anything more advanced than an egg-timer for the rest of their lives.

Yeah, that sphere sensor thing is a bit of a joke, considering that the majority of Konoha's enemies of seem to actually be from the village, that or you know they're powerful enough to just not give a ****. Apparently anyway it's all going to kick off next week. I'm still praying Konan/Female Pein kills Tsunade because the further this manga progresses, the more I hate that woman.

Anime Anime Out of Context (image heavy)

We've been discussing the requirements and potential replacement for trying to break the largest number of users online record in this thread, if you haven't already read it, please do so now as I think it will answer some questions. Drizzt as I've explained, my reasoning for closing down that thread had relatively little to do with the fact nobody was posting in it. Granted, had there been considerably more activity I may have gone to James on the matter first before closing it, but my decision probably would have remained the same. Over the coming days I'm going to try to put together the fields for an OB Census in order to give us an accurate picture of our current member-base in terms of numbers, level of activity and timezone so that if in the future we want to try to repeat this, we'll have the proper data needed to do so. Additionally it'll be useful for other stuff as well, such as showing us the most and least active forums (obviously this being the latter).

What does your signature/title/avi say about you?
Gavin replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
Afraid my stuff is fairly easily figured out, my custom title is simply a reflection of my nationality, though as OtakuBoards only Irish member from/still living in Ireland (damn you Red) it's something I do take some pride it. Of some small note is that my custom title has never been changed since they were introduced and I never intend it to change. :animesmil My banner and avatar are a tribute to Jeremiah Gottwald aka "Orange" from Code Geass, more specifically relating to his actions in the later episodes of the series where he becomes god-like in his awesomeness. -

A few learned from Warhammer Online - Having a "frickin' sweet" hat automatically made the Witch-Hunter the coolest class in WAR. - Having a flintlock pistol to execute enemies with (as well as generally shoot them from long distance) makes you feel awesome inside, especially when you kill a mage and roar "Where's your magic now ***** ?!!" without realising it. - Killing a giant is not nearly as difficult as it sounds, simply hack at it's feet until it dies, it will not attempt to step on you or run away (convenient really). - Said giants are stupid enough to reappear perioidically to be killed, usually by a group composing the people who killed it only a few minutes before-hand. - Apparently shooting someone in their unarmoured head from point blank range with a flintlock pistol will not necessarily kill them, the same can be said to being hit with a giant freaking sword. Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. OK first of all I'm going to say it was not my idea to originally buy this game when it came out about two weeks ago, but six weeks of previous harranging by my good friend and ex-OB member Jokopoko inclined me towards it. I've always liked the idea of MMOs (it started with OB's obsession with Guild Wars a few years ago which I was too late for, damn lack of broadband) and I've been a fan of the Warhammer Universe for a while now, although I prefer the WH40K setting because it's sci-fi. Anyways this game is actually pretty awesome when you get down to it, I've not player Blizzard's WoW so I can't draw comparisons, even if WAR is supposed to be the major contender for the former's crown. While the missions themselves can be somewhat tedious, and quest characters are not particularly well laid out on the map the Public Quests are a heap of fun when involved in a party or better still a warband (especially if you happen to do the best and get a major loot bag). The biggest feather though in WAR's cap is it's Realm vs Realm combat, it is simply awesome to charge a fellow player from the other realm and hack him down to increase you experience and standing. Even when you die, all you want to do is get up, get healed and get back into the fray to hunt down the bastard who killed you and pay him back. Anyone into MMOs should definitely check this out, I'm not 100% sure of the monthly charge (it's supposed to be somewhere around the $12-$15 mark) but it's really a heck of a lot of fun.
Yeah it makes more sense to record the data over a 24 hour period I think, because of time differences and such (although having one for "most users at once" is probably good too).
Agreed, it would be interesting to have the two sets of records. I just have one quick questions though, what timezone is OB actually set to for these records ? I mean obviously 11:10 on October 2nd for me isn't going to be the same time for James or someone in the States. To answer Petie's questions about the OB Records thing, I think it was in the Event Ideas thread but it was more themed akin to the Guinness Book of Records. I'll check in a little bit just to make sure.

That has to be one of the strangest deaths I've seen you write. Seriously. o_O
Agreed, I had to read it again twice more just to make sure I'd read it correctly originally, and even now it's still very much o_O.
So I definitely encourage people to continue brainstorming and coming up with ideas. Events do not need to be massive endeavours - they can be simple competitions or challenges (or even your own awards thread or something).
Agreed, even though in this case it was unfortunate that I had to close an event early for not being ready, I still really urge people to try out their skills as creating an event. As James said, it doesn't have to be flashy or large scale, if saw a bunch of people want to get together from a particular category (say the AV District) and hold a little event, for example something like the Oscars for anime for themselves I'm all for it. I would like to say that I'm fairly close to releasing an event I've been working with liamc2 on, as well as the much sillier "The Minion" in which I will be searching for a lackey of my own, or if there's enough interest we might get a few of the staff getting their own flunkies, after all Des can't be the only one to have minions, even if half of them are fellow staff members. :p
I think Des has the best idea in terms of making this work by simply trying to set a "most users logged in at once" record. I can even throw together a page that would make this stat publicly viewable if that would be desired (and the higher-ups approve).
If this could be done I think it would certainly be a better alternative, as we're getting a much more genuine view than including the dozens of search engine users. If we could integrate it into the Otaku Records idea Sandy (at least I think it was Sandy) put forward a few months back it'd be a great start to a potentially consecutive set of record breaking events.
Don't rate my signature this time.
Aww but I wanted to give you a really high score 'cuz you've got such an awesome banner. What talented devil made that ? :p Heh heh, all joking I've also got a new banner so I guess I can post here again, the character in both picture is Jeremiah Gottwald AKA Orange-kun from Code Geass, possibly the GARest dude of any recent anime series as of it's finale. Oh the hell with it, Ikillion get over here and rate this a 10.

Firstly a sincere Happy Birthday to you Mr. Maul, it's not every day you reach 20 but by the sound of it you're having a good day, which is good. Heh. My favourite birthday memories are probably from my 19th birthday two and a half years ago, it was pretty special because I was actually in Tasmania at the time. The day started out with my enjoying the glorious weather, then my cousins and a few friends took me out for breakfast at some place in the city. The crepes/pancakes were just delicious after which we decided to head to the nearest beach for most of the day just kicking back and having fun, during which I learned I absolutely cannot surf. After watching the sunset we went to a club in Hobart (Isobar) and...I cannot remember much about what happened there because I consumed quite a lot of alcohol, however if my cousin's photos are accurate I seem to have had a good time. :animeswea Presents included the general allotment of aftershaves, money, DVDs and books as well as a watch which holds huge sentimental value for me.

Still listening to Breaking Benjamin, although I've moved on to their Phobia album, currently I tend to flick between Unknown Soldier, Evil Angel and Dance with the Devil although I've listened to the entire album quite a few times without stopping and the only song I don't particularly care for is Topless (too much screaming again).
yeah I've actually read a lot of those posts discussing reasons for the 'not' side but I have my own suspicions against them. I mean just on the first one about
Lelouch possibly gaining Charles' Code. I'm pretty certain that when someone gains an immortals Code they then lose the ability to use Geass and even then Lelouch code still use Geass. I'd also have to go back and check but I'm also pretty certain that whenever a immortal was "killed" in the series then there was no blood.
With the number of times it happened to C.C. I don't remember any blood from the wounds. I'd have to go back and double check for the Charles incident as well.
Well the opposing argument to the idea that
Lelouch can't have both Geass and Code because no other immortal has it is that both the immortals in the series (Charles and C.C.) recieved the immortality of the individual who gave them their Geass in the first place. Lelouch getting his father's Code but retaining C.C.'s Geass would potentially allow him to override that particular rule
Actually C.C.'s been shot a few times and there was quite a lot of blood spilled out of her on each of those occasions as I recall . I'm also fairly sure that when Lelouch gave his father the command to shoot himself there was blood soaking out of his shirt, hence why Lelouch laughed like a maniac in thinking he'd won.
As for the whole R.R. thing, where did that come from? I assume there was some sort of reference I missed in the last ep. But yeah way too many questions left unanswered even for the finale of a series.
Admittedly I didn't get it either until I read the explanation, for the English-speaking audience it should be read as
L.L.
rather than R.R. standing for
Lelouch Lamperouge when he becomes and immortal like C.C. (it'd probably be pronounced R2 hence the allusion to it in the title of the second series) and thus would explain how Lelouch vi Britannia/Lamperouge "died" leaving only R.R./L.L.
I actually consider that to be quite plausible when you think about it, in much the same way
Suzaku "died" to become Zero.
I imagine also
the pair agreed that Lelouch would not pass on Geass to anyone else, and neither would C.C. as they are no longer alone, which seems to be the aim of most immortals.
At least, that's just my take on it. Well having never seen Death Race 2000, I can't draw any comparisons to this remake, although apparently this is rated the worse film with better reviews (if that makes any sense, damn cult hits). Obviously this is not a film for high browed intellectuals looking for some sort of hidden meaning beneath the mayhem and murder. To enjoy the film, and at points I admittedly did, you just have to sit back and let yourself mentally regress to when you were about ten years old (and a guy obviously, this is not a chick flick) and just gape at the big guns on big cars and even bigger explosions. A solid quantity of alcohol, and an hour or so of watching pro-wrestling or Ultimate Fighter before-hand to generate the necessary bloodlust and testosterone would also be recommended, so you and your friends can whoop retardedly at the movie. It's got plot holes the size of Jupiter's moons sure, but if you're in the advised mindset you'll barely notice...Oh and there's hot chicks too, so that'll help keep you from any deep thinking. Overall I wasn't dissatisfied after seeing the movie (I didn't pay to see it, which almost certainly helped), so it gets about a 6/10 from me. One question I am left asking though is what the hell List did to get into that prison.
EDIT: Upon closer inspection it looks more like she's holding somebody else's bloodied hand. What's up with that?

Code Geass R2 Finale.
Guess it's my turn now then, for Cat I'll give here 8/10, it's a nice looking sig but I think maybe you should use a smaller sized text to keep the eye focused on the banner.
As for what you said Gavin
I'd almost say it's a given that Lelouch actually died, but while we're not shown a grave or anything at the end we're also not given anything to suggest that he lived. Also before he died the flashes suggested he was seeing his life's events appear before his eyes.

Actually on review I'm not so sure
Lelouch actually did die in the end.
Sure it looked like he did, but the level of evidence the "not" side have managed to generate does lead to some interesting questions. Ikillion mentioned the whole R.R. and I'm going to toss in Code Geass itself
Lelouch having both Geass from C.C. and potentially Code from his father Charles
as being possibilities why he's still alive. There's also
the flashes Nunally got when she touched her brother's hand as he was "dying", which we've seen only occur when someone comes into contact with a Code holder, Orange actually letting Suzaku "kill" Lelouch (whom Jeremy sworn his life to, so I just can't see him letting that happen, hell he smiles as Suzaku jumps his shoulder and cheers him on) and finally C.C. smiling, talking out loud to Lelouch and that last cryptic line. I just can't see all Lelouch's allies in the end smiling if he actually had died in that manner,
even if it is what he wanted. So yeah, on review, not so sure. Hence why I want my OVA or movie to clear that up, but failing that I'll settle for Oranga telling us one way or another in his spin-off.
My apologies for making assumptions. Gavin implied it more heavily than you did. But if you both did actually read those posts then my apology extends to both of you.
I imagine I did imply it more heavily than Rach did, admittedly I only glanced through posts after about the first five or six when it became apparent that this wasn't going to be a debate as much as one side firing evidence at the other until everyone just walks away.

Hey Vervex welcome to OB, unfortunately game threads belong in The Lounge rather than the Community Events forum so I've moved the thread where it should belong. ...Hopefully this won't spark even more debate that I'm more of an ogre than a staff member. :animeswea
also, WHERE IS MY ORANGE SPIN OFF SERIES?
Honestly I'd happily settle for an OVA which actually answers some of the damn unanswered questions left by the finale, well with the exception of whether or not Lelouch is actually dead, I figure that's a repeat of Spike Spiegel and we'll be just left to argue it forever. Examples would be what C.C. stood for, and what happened between Rakshaka and Lloyd. That said, as a finale I actually think it was very well done, sure R2 strayed pretty damn far from the original story set up in the first season, by which I mean I always assumed that Charles' intentions for abandoning Lelouch was to turn him into the most worthy heir to his throne in true social-Darwinian style by forcing him to either win or lose everything. The actual reasoning was a bit well... "lolwut ?" and really brought down Charles as a character in my view. Anyway enough ramblings, I enjoyed the series thoroughly and do hope we might get that Orange spin-off Ikillion because it would be so awesome.

You all have no idea how sheepish I'm feeling right now, really. I'm more than happy to give my reasons for closing the thread, and honestly Sabrina, I'm really grateful you're the one who posted the thread, otherwise it could be someone calling for my sacking. :animeswea If it sounded like I gave a false "go-ahead" in the planning thread then I do apologise, as that was not my intention at all. I fully support the event as an idea and when it is actually ready to go ahead, with everything that needs to be in place for it to work ready too, then I promise I will be there in the thick of things. Unfortunately the mandate of my job is to make sure that events are actually ready to reach a board-wide level and in this case I didn't feel that it was. As Boo pointed out, as long as the old record is in place, I think any attempt to actually break it is futile, I'm not trying to be a Grinch and spoil everyone's fun, I just feel that it was sort of pointless to try when there was no chance in succeeding. I know that a few weeks ago Drizzt did plan on using yesterday as the target date for trying to break the record, but I don't think that actually qualifies as enough planning for this event. I think Drizzt needs to take several other things into account, such as other members timezones (for instance I'm working off GMT), the actual active numbers we have on OB at the moment and whether or not that number is actually larger than the previous record which we'll hopefully roll-back to. As I said, I'm more than happy to address people's concerns and questions to the best of my ability, I am admittedly new at this job and thus bound to make mistakes sometimes but I genuinely feel in this case this was not one. Hopefully that answered all your questions Sabrina, if not, feel free to reply here, PM me or IM me and I'll try to answer them better. [Edit] Ah so that's why Adam hasn't got back to us with an answer, thanks Beth.
