I mean, when is the god modding of Sasuke going to end?:animesigh Kishi really need's to work on his storyline-making skillz.
Who knows ? Kishi is clearly having a Sasuke fangirlism at the moment. On a side note, the amount of Jewchiha Sasuke vs Hyuuga Nazi threads that are cropping up are really making me laugh, man that fight should've happened so long ago in the manga. Maybe that's why we've never seen any other Jashin followers aside from Hidan.

June 12th, although I won't get my results from my final exams until around mid-August. How do I feel ? A mixture of fearful and excited that changes percentages every few minutes due to my having to start those final exams this coming Wednesday.

[strike]First vote huh ? Great... Thanks a lot Crys.[/strike] Nevermind. ^_^; Anyway, down to the actual vote, and I have to admit, this is the first time I've ever heard of, let alone seen a Rondeau poem. All three poems were quite interesting and well written, given that I'm facing into my final exams in only a few days, Crystia's subject matter was met with a certain degree of let's say, resistance. Allamorph's as usual was a very deep poem, and his skill in structuring it was also very impressive, although I can't but be slightly wary of the dark nature of the work, though to be fair of course this won't affect my decision. Irish literature is built on bleakness and despair and one can't help but tire of it after a while. Mom's to me felt the most emotive of the three, the most personal and even despite the sad nature of it, I really liked it on the whole, it was the most simple and genuine. So, after reading over the three carefully, and trying to collect my thoughts and probably expressing them horribly, my vote goes to Aaryanna_Mom. I enjoyed all three, but Mom's just clicked with me the most and that's why she gets my vote.
Re-read chapter 188. I suppose my question should've been, how long has Urahara and Isshin known about Aizen? As for the Vaizards.. Although, I never stated them coming forward :) and telling their side, I do see them being kicked out before they could even get a word out. As stubborn as old man Yama-ji is.
Ah, my bad, I misread your question. I'm still not convinced though that Urahara knew about Aizen, because even though he was exiled from Soul Society, he seems to have maintained a decent relationship with the Shinigami i.e. Rukia is familiar with Urahara right off the bat, despite the fact it is her first time being stationed in Karakura Town. Compare that to the Vizard who pretty much dropped off the map after their exile and have a much frostier relationship with Soul Society. Now if Urahara knew about Aizen and his group's intentions, it makes sense that he would have tried to warn Soul Society, I mean, they already knew about the Hyougokyu (I think), so if his relationship was amicable with Soul Society, he should have been able to get that info to them. Of course, maybe he could, and his chose not to, Urahara has proven himself capable of making plans similar to Aizen's level of depth and intricacy before. As for Isshin, we really just at this point know too little to even begin to speculate. Although my feeling is that Urahara was the one to fill him in about Aizen's betrayal. I mean despite his knowledge of the Arrancar, his knowledge of the Vizard turned out to be completely flawed (group of outlaw Shinigami who obtained Hollow powers) to the point it makes me wonder was he even in Soul Society at that point to have known what was going on. I really hope Kubo gives us some info on Isshin soon, he's the last captain we really know nothing about.
-If Urahara knew about Aizen before getting exiled, why didn't he (or Isshin) come forward with it in the first place? When was Urahara exiled? With Shinji's group, or afterwards? I doubt if it was with Shinji's group. Maybe Urahara wasn't even in Soul Society when Isshin was there..? "shrugs"
That's partially true, Urahara knew about the Vizard and the Arrancar, but he never outright states that he knew about Aizen and the other two being traitors. I imagine he definitely suspected something was off, but couldn't prove it. From the looks of things, even Kyouraku had doubts about Aizen's intentions at that point, but by Ichigo's entrance into the picture those seem have been assayed. As for why the Vizard didn't simply come forward, it's hard to say. I imagine we'll find out next week for certain, but my feeling is that the moment they become part hollow, Soul Society turned their back on them, or worse tried to execute them. You'd think that five captains and four lieutenants would have a chance to give their side of the story.
-So much for Kisame vs Suigetsu. Does this mean that Akatsuki and Sasuke joined forces? (Somewhat)
I'm more wondering did this mean that Kisame knew Itachi was going to die in that fight ? Looking back in his attitude and the way he was happy to play with Suigetsu for a while, he just seemed a bit too relaxed, although we haven't seen his reaction to Itachi's death yet.

Homecoming |24 Days Ago| My eyes fluttered open for a moment, then shut by instinct as the first glare of light hits them. I groan numbly, a nauseous feeling of weakness quickly spreading across my body. My throat is so dry at this point even attempting to form words hurts like hell, instead I continue to made unintelligible sounds to attract attention. After a moments, the sounds of raised voices breask the silence. "Holy shit, he's awake ! Gav, Gav can you hear me ?! It's Andrew, can't you hear me ?!" He grips my hand solidly, more than a noticable amount of relief in his voice. I give it a brief squeeze by way of an affirmation to his question. I hear him sigh, cursing what he calls my "stupid heroics" again, and that one day he won't be around to drag my bullet-ridden ass out of the line of fire and back to safety. I smile unintentionally at the comment, my dry lips splitting slightly at the renewed movement. He hands me over a small cup of water that I drink down greedily. I endure what seems like an hour of his frustrated mutterings before I manage to open my eyes again. My sight is still blurry, my left hand leaves Andrew's grip to seek my glasses which have hopefully been placed on the table next to my beside. I fumble for a moment before my fingertips hit the cold metal, quietly I place them back in their usual place as the room slides into focus. "Much better." Dragging myself up in the bed, I notice the bandages for the first time, my entire torso seems wrapped in white marked by the occasional patch of crimson, for a moment it's disconcerting. As I begin to prod my chest, Andrew chooses to chime in. "You took two rounds to the chest covering those civvies from the rebels. Doc says they missed your vital organs by only centimetres, if they'd connected, we wouldn't be sitting here having this conversation." "I get it." There's a trace of frustration in my scratchy voice, I don't need him to tell me how close I can to dying, I can see it myself. Andrew though seems to think otherwise. "No. I don't think you do Gav. The whole unit was freaked over it, we thought you were dead. Annie was bawling her eyes out for a solid five minutes when they brought you in. And this is Annie we're talking about, the same chick who could beat the crap out of you, me and most of the rest of Rangers here..." He paused, sighed again and rubbed the back at his evident stress. "I mean, seriously Gav, we all know you go in for that chivalric "defend the innocent" shit, and it's not as if we don't, but, seriously man, you're not a fucking Jedi who can just dive headlong into the action and expect to walk away without a scratch. I'm just saying, hell man, I'm begging you, be more careful in future, OK ?" It's my turn to sigh, I never knew he was that good with words, fucker should've been a diplomat. "Yeah, alright. I'm sorry man, I didn't mean to worry you guys..." I look around conspiratorially narrowing my eyes, before smiling and rubbing the back of my head. "...Uhh...Where's Annie ?" He grins, something predatory about the smile. "She's back at the base, told me she was going to wait until you're semi-healed to beat the crap out of you for your latest stunt... She also asked me to tell you, don't run, because she will find you." I blanch slightly, feeling significantly worse. "Oh crap..." He lets out a big guffaw, before the door slides open and Neil walks in. Both of us salute, mine looking significantly rougher than my comrade. The captain gives me a quick look before nodding slowly. "Good to see you awake Gav. How're you feeling ?" "I've felt better. How long am I going to be stuck here ?" "Medics say about a month, maybe less. That's not why I'm here though... I hate to do this Gav, but this is the third time you've been injured while on active duty. Colonel ordered you to be put on leave for a while to recover properly. When you're discharged from here, you're on three-month leave-period." "WHAT ?!" I break eye-contact with the captain, pinching the bridge of my nose and sighing in frustration. "I'm sorry Gav, I really am. I asked the Colonel to reconsider, but he point-blank refused. Look at it this way though, you can head back to Otaku City for a while and see Rai and Mike, I'm sure they miss you." Lying back in the bed, I stare a the ceiling for a few moments before answering. "Yeah... I suppose you're right. Thanks Neil." He shrugs indifferently. "Don't worry about it. Anyway, we're going to give you a bit of space to relax. But we'll visit while you're here when we can. Come on Andy, let's give him some time to think." "Alright." "Later then guys, thanks for calling." "Don't mention it, see you soon Gav." "Three months huh ? Great..." |Current Time| The taxi pulls up just outside the house, it's already well into the night. I shift uncomfortably in the backseat, simply looking at the building I left over a year beforehand. "That'll be ten dollars buddy." "Sure." I pull out the equivalent note from my wallet and toss it to the elderly cabbie as I exit the car, lugging my kit bag up on my shoulder and taking the few tentative steps to the door. I reach over to touch the doorbell when the blood droplets on the ground catch my attention... Reaching into my bag, I remove the unloaded pistol and quickly shove in a clip before motioning to the driver to get the hell out of here. I guess my uniform was enough to tell him I was one of the supposed "good-guys" because he just nodded and drove away normally. Internally I thank him, the sound of squealing tires might've drawn unwanted attention. I give the doorbell a single ring, my gun sitting in my left hand, ready to be used at a moments notice. The door opens slowly, creaking on it's hinges Rai's friend Jae coming into view behind the wooden barrier. Right away, I see the surprised look in her eyes. "Gavin ?" "Hey Jae, you guys OK ?" She gives me a strange look I can't really figure out at that moment before nodding slowly. "Yeah...what're you doing here ? I thought you were still with the Rangers ?" "I was. I had some leave coming up so I decided to take it." An embellishment rather than I lie, I didn't need her worrying about me when she looked scared herself. I'd already pushed the pistol into the back of my trousers, she looked as if she'd freak at the sight of a loaded weapon at that moment. "Jae, where's Rai and Mike, I'd like to see them if they're around ?" Little did I know the landmine I'd just walked into with that question.

Anime Sometimes You Wonder... The Stupid Edits Thread
Gavin replied to The Spectacular Professor's topic in Otaku Central
Going through DBZ and looking for stupid edits is a fairly pointless affair, there really were just too many to count. Best ones that come to mind are the Adam West Batman style flashes when someone gets hit, God knows in a show about superheroes who defeat their enemies in hand-to-hand combat that we'd actually see some of it. -
Just got through 402 this morning, and I have to admit, I'm really disappointed in Kishi. Half of the flashback content was unnecessary, we already knew that Sasuke as a child idolised his brother, so there was little point in dragging all that up again. I also noticed, just because I was talking about the character earlier, Mikoto was quite different than previous portrayals, i.e. her frowning and telling Itachi to do his homework was more in like with Fugaku, who himself was oddly smiling. Moving away from that, I liked Sasuke's tears at remembering his brother, it shows his true humanity...at least until he then reveals his grand plans, which run completely counter to everything the brother he idolised stood for and sacrificed himself for. I mean seriously, Itachi killed his entire clan to save Konoha and the ninja world from another war, and now Sasuke wants to go and destroy Konoha... Somewhere in Heaven, Itachi realised he shouldn't have bothered sparing Sasuke that night. Really, "Eagle/Hawk's" new mission feels as if it's just being written for the inevitable repeat Valley of the End fight between Sasuke and Naruto, as opposed to develop a new storyline. And on a final note, Sasuke has officially the worst looking Mangekyou, if it is a Mangekyou, that has ever appeared in the manga. Seriously, a snowflake ? Fail.
Now i hot it, thanks! and it was planted when he poked him right?
Yeah.
Yeah but isn't your entire country small enough to fit inside Texas? Can't complain when one could probably drive across the entire place in a day.
If that were to happen Aceburner, Gavin would probably go and start a new forum for OB members and then rule it with an iron fist. Or at least attempt to.
Emphasis on the word attempt, I know as well as you do I couldn't run a site as big or active as OB, I'd probably go mad within a month and retreat to the Theatre as a crazed role-playing hermit.
This place will probably never die. Even if the network gets shut down, there's still the Clone and AIM to deal with.
True, but it wouldn't be the same, AIM just doesn't have the same group feel as OB, we're far too hyper and wacky for that during those AIM chatrooms.

Recently, I've been listening to American rock group Trapt, and they've fast become a favourite of mine. There's something about the style which sort of reminds me of Linkin Park (seriously, I have no idea why it just does), but better, at least for me. Made of Glass is probably the best song I've heard so far, although Echo is another contender for the spot.

If OB closed permanently tomorrow, would I miss people ? Even if it sounds silly or sentimental, yeah, I definitely would miss some of the people I've gotten to know here. Realistically, I've been around OB nearly seven years at this point, I'm met and gotten to know quite a few people in that time, many of whom have become good friends whom I enjoy talking to and writing with. I've seen people who I know leave OB as well, and lost touch with them, and admittedly yeah, that's been sad for me. Is OB like a family ? In ways yes, in ways no. I think if people stick around long enough, it leans more towards yes than no. That said, I would not advocate OB as a replacement to real-life friendships and relationships, knowing a few friends online should only compliment offline friendships.
So uh, I thought we could all grumble about gas prices for a bit. XD
...I love these threads, it always makes me laugh when you guys complain about the cost of petrol when over on this side of the Atlantic, we're paying roughly double if not more than that you guys are paying. Anyway, after a bit of calculating, and looking up exactly what a gallon is compared to a litre, petrol is apparently $7.38 a gallon locally for me, which when compared with the rest of Ireland seems to be pretty average. I'll let someone from England quote how much they're paying, but off-hand speaking to a few friends while I type this, it's almost certainly higher than what I'm paying. Just OOC as we're on the subject of fuel prices, is diesel more expensive for you guys compared to petrol ? I know over here diesel cars were/are popular because diesel was cheaper (now about $8.12 a gallon) and you get more miles to the gallon compared to petrol, which is still the case.
It's more just kind of poking fun at the fact that Tower of Druaga (the anime) is actually based off an arcade game made by Namco called Tower of Druaga (1984). You'll notice that same sprite art-style used through out the series (at one point they even play the game).
Ah thanks for the info 8-Bit, I'd known about the Namco game and watched episode 8 where they actually play it earlier today.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure the fact that they seem to be regular high school students (and other things, like the Mage is a janitor) is just for the theme song and has nothing to do with the story. I don't think we'll see any dimension-traveling in the near future.
Yeah, I figured that might have been the case, still the fact there's an MMO of the series coming out might hint at something too.
True, so very and painfully true. But I wonder...how old is Kishi? Will he live long enough to stretch this out? After all, one of my worst nightmares is a manga ka dying in the middle of completing their series!
34 according to Wikipedia, so I think him dropping dead of old age isn't going to be a problem. Meh, I imagine the series isn't going to last too much longer, not another 400 chapters anyway. Sasuke's had his revenge/redemption plot, so now once we get through the Kakashi/Sakura development it'll probably lead into the final Naruto and Co. vs the remainder of Akatsuki. I doubt Kishi is going to cover Naruto's time as Hokage, unless he wants to do a little timeskip into the future showing the Rokudaime handing over the reins to someone else.
