This is sad. You all sound like elitist... You bash on the dbz/yu gi oh fools, but then you dont want anime to grow... resulting in a greater likelyhood that the only anime these people see, will be shows like dbz and yu gi oh. Its like the people I got sick of with the "phish scene." They were all hippie punks that loved the music, but loved knowing they were into something that wasnt mainstream even more... They all hated the music that is popular on a large scale and loved phish, but they all hated the kids who listened to popular music... So instead of taking the best way to eliminate the problem of crappy music filling the heads of our generation, they all just tried to keep phish in their own selective club. Never letting anyone hear phish and not letting it become popular only contributed to the outside world listening to "bad" music. Same goes with this... You are all trying to say you love anime, and hate dbz fools. Yet you dont want to let anime grow allowing your "inferior dbz fools" to see the anime that makes you feel superior. You laugh at them, instead, you should extend your hand and your anime knowledge as well as your anime collection. With you all hording the good stuff and only allowing the mass appeal stuff to be seen, the only result will be more yu gi oh's and pokemons... Note: there was a time when not every little kid knew dbz and there was a time when it was only in japan. During that time, many anime fans considered it a good show, but now it is popular, and hence, it is not cool any more... Just plain sad.

Well, sorry again... but That stat only relates to the possible outcome of having a gun in the house... It has little to do with supporting your statment that the majority of gun deaths are a result of accidents or fits of rage... Only the possibility of accidents... the POSSIBILITY, not anything that is hard data based on the results of real world events. sorry, just had to say it.

Wait, theres a nazi horse...:wigout: I need it I need it I need it...

Ban guns and increase the invasion of our lives by police... Hmmm, that is an idea never thought of before... oh except in those nasty facist states that we never like to think of... oh say, nazi germany. But that is not of importance, right, because we all know that police have never, and would never abuse their power. So I mean, with a nation void of violence due to our own willingness to lose the guns, the police would be able to walk around with the final and ultimate power of life and death... a gun. With that, it sounds alot like the samurai... A group of ruling class with weapons at hand. A population of average people. Nothing to distinguish the two besides the power to destroy and kill... But not to worry, our police officers are benevolent, wise, administrators of the law. Not people who shoot to kill or use several clips on immigrants from places like haiti... nothing like soddomy with broom sticks has ever occured. Or the brutality of beating pregnant women, macing those who squirm in protest out of drunken insubordination... oh none of that ever happens. So I say... let the police take care of us... they are far more intelligent and always on the look out for the criminals. Never on the look out for easy speeding tickets or marijuana smokers. btw, the agrements signed by mr. clinton banned the use of ANY gas on the battle field... yet the use of cs on the civilians in our own country is ok?! I guess thats because they know better than us, the people.

Sorry charles, but there is no way in hell I am gonna rely on cops to protect me... especially here in my wonderful state of louisiana. Just to let you know though... the second is not moot. It is very much an important part of our culture. If you would take the time, you might notice that the biggest point in this thread for those of us protecting our rights, is that hand guns very much are a problem... but taking them from those of us who abide the current laws and only creating new laws is like building a house on a weak foundation. How can you create new laws if you can not enforce the current ones? Just as well, how can you build a house on ground that can not support the building. With laws that aren't enforced, building up new laws will only hurt the law abiding people... all the while, criminals will be unaffected. With a house built on horrible land, the only people affected by that land are the ones forced to live on it, not those who can just move to another place. These criminals are just moving to a new place every time we pass laws to dis-arm them. How about you enforce the hand gun laws already in existance. Not just take away guns from people who never use them. And frankly, I would like to see an objective study from a reputable source that backs your "fact" that most gun deaths are from fits of rage and accidents... sorry, but I dont buy that. Unless of course, fits of rage are part of the average night club shooting...

Not to get off subject, but the cause of the samurai's demise was not the development of the gun... It was a combination of government pressure and peaceful times. The Japanese culture had been divided into 4 classes... Samurai, artisans, peasants and merchants. (sometime in the mid 1600's) With a long period of peacful times (tokugawa dynasty *1603-1868) there were problems for the samurai... No battles for the warrior class to fight and for that reason, the income of these warriors were almost non-existant. Samurai had to renounce the title in order to become farmers and teachers as to bring in some sort of income. With unemployment ruining the samurai themselves because of a lack of conflict, and a socio-economic status that was a drain on the country... it was only a natural progression for the country itself to slowly let the samurai fade into obscurity. Education and teaching of martial arts, along with farming became the professions of these once great warriors. Hope that was educational...:D

You are right about energy transfer and all of this stuff, but one thing to note is that the fat buu made a blind boy see... That is not something energy alone will do. What that needs is pure healing and regenerating powers. I would say this fella had the idea right about healing... He probably learned the greater levels of healing from the kai's he obsorbed. However, it is also true that you can give energy as gokou did and heal mortally wounded or fatigued people. Thing is, I can confidently say that the series never addressed the idea of buu being able to heal the blind... So it looks to me like just another un-answered question in this series.

Well, I will say flat out... Racing games: Gran Turismo 3 Its the best racing game made to date and that is that. If your not into the simulation racing games, go with something like need for speed hot pursuit 2. Its a good game but its no gt3. I am thinking that I am going to start openly calling myself the authority on gt3 here at the otaku. so if you've got a question about that game, hit me up. Also, if you want a fps... just give up the ghost. The ps2 rarly makes a good fps. I am biased on that issue though. I also want to mention that gt3 is gonna cost you not too much as it is getting old... plus in 2004, gt4 will be here. So if you want a racer, do the gt3... its totally worth it.

I guess I should re-iterate the point that gun ownership is much higher in rural areas than in urban areas, yet gun deaths in urban areas are much higher than in rural areas. I also want to stress that guns can be used for protection... why do you think cops carry them... because they murder people!? I dont think so. However, I want to stress that I believe it is a good, no a great idea to enforce our current laws concerning gun control. And to show how I feel even further... I believe that certain weapons shouldn't be allowed to be owned by the average law abiding citizen. Guns the the barret M-82 should not be allowed as they have no practical use. The barret can easily be replaced for any uses by a 30-6 or a .308 rifle. Yet there are people who are not willing to bend on the idea that they should have the right to own a semi-automatic .50 caliber sniper rifle. Note: I do not know of a single murder that was the result of a barret. Discretion people... that is all I ask for. Cant we meet in the middle where the reasonable people get to have the guns they love and the criminals get the punishments that aren't currently being enforced.

I also belive that guns serve a purpose for the good of man kind. The truth is, the world will never stop its violent ways, and with that in mind... Guns serve to protect and liberate and will continue to do that for as long as there are people using the same weapons to oppress and murder. As long as unregistered and illegal guns are in the hands of criminals... I will never give up my right to hold my weapon. Thats the bottom line. Come and take it, and I will consider you to be the aggressor... Leave me be, and you will never even see the weapon... none the less know that I have it. Plus, taking what is legally mine is theft. Especially when the object has never been used in any way. (contray to drugs or other possibly illegal objects.)

lol... gundam wing, the best of all time. Wing was full of little kids piloting gundams with controls that only come close to resembling the controls of a jet and a helicopter combined. Then take into account that wing is full of wishy-washy philosophical ideals like total pacifism... Yea, I want to stick with my earlier statments. G gundam was awesome. The first part, maybe the first quarter of the series, sucked compared to the rest, but it was still awesome over all. The final 15 or so eps were awesome. They had emotional content and story line that was able to stray from the cliche gundam ideas seen in the UC timeline. I also think that the animation was awesome. And I just noticed a coincidence worthy of mention... Both of the most recent anti-g gundam replies were done by newbies with wing avatars and even qoutes qoutes from wing. I gotta say though, wing was ok. It had awesome animation and a decsent story. However, tying together kids and military plans is a big no-no. Kids arent involved with the military and they are surely never trained as assasians.

No, I'm asking that you recognize the fact that, I have a love for shooting as a sport.(amongst other things) But the way you all want it, I woulnt be able to do that. Also, Im asking you to recognize that in your time and time again stats, there are flaws. Such as the fact that the fall of deaths and murders by guns in places like britian and france, which coincide with stricter gun laws, are complemented by a total lack of change for the same stats with the same sort of laws being implimented in places such as germany and belgium. But most important in this is the idea of me as an individual. I deserve the right to hold and own an object that will never be used as a weapon, although I could use it in that way if needed. I also want to support Semjaza, my grandfather and father are both collectors and both are very strict about the ways our weapons are stored and regulated. This is not a rarity. The fact is, those who are most likely to use weapons like this in a violent manner, will never be affected by the laws people who are "anti-gun" want to pass. We should respect people as individuals and not stereotype gun owners as gang bangers or murderers. I really hate the fact that I am held in the same group as the random gang member, just because I like to fire guns. I really dislike that especially because of one fact... Although I love to shoot, I hate hunting. Of course Im not enough of an *** to try and tell you not to. (unlike some who think they know better than myself) But still, I just like to shoot at targets. Its an amazing feeling to me and an even greater challenge. Its a sport to me in many aspects and at the same time, its a right to expect the worst. I always have believed in expecting the worst and hoping for the best... If I have to count on the police to protect me, or my fellow man to treat me in a law abiding, legal way... I better start expecting the best, and hoping I dont have to worry about it.

Hey, if it can happen to the second amendment, it can happen to the first. And to remind you, outlawing guns from the law abiding citizens will not take the guns away from the people you are complaining about the government protecting you from. (which, btw, the government cant even enforce our current laws) Plus like what I said before... whats the point of making new laws when you cant enforce the current ones. But hey, its ok with me what ever you want to say... I can tell you now though, if you try to take a gun from me, without an reason that is sound and legitimate. (being my own faults or ownership of overly powerful weapons) I will make you pay for it. De-armament is the first step to controlling the people in ways that alienate our "in-alienable" rights. Nazis de-armed the people. And most importantly... If you take my gun for what you think I MIGHT do, then I am gonna go out of my way to take your car for what you might do. (accidents and drunken driving kill more than fire-arms every year in America, and that is a fact.) (And I might even kill you with one of those out of date... what do you call them, oh thats it, knives or swords; or maybe my own hands.)

I like what some of the others here have said... Outlaw guns and only outlaws have them. Lady Mac's points... I think my view boils down to the idea that we need to worry about enforcing gun laws before we need to worry about making more. What good is a new law when you couldnt up hold the previous ones. That said, I still believe in slight limitations to firearms. No fully auto and no silenced weapons. Otherwise, it should be about the person and not the gun... The law once again needs to adopt something I have long asked for... Descretion. "A gun is only as dangerous as the man carrying it." If any of you can tell me where that qoute is from... well, we will decide on a prize later.

I am more for it than against it... I believe that right now there is only a limited of anime availible to us as americans, and even less of that is availible to those of us who woulnt pay to see it. With main-streaming, we will get negatives, but there will also be positives. I can deal with soccer moms, but I cant really deal with people who think anime isnt cool when more than just a select few know about it. Its loving a certain song, and then hating it when it is on the pop charts... No matter how many times you have seen it or heard it, the quality of that "thing" is still the same. So I say, Let everyone who wishes to, enjoy the anime I love so much.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Kent replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Well I doubt you offended anyone... thing is... 0080 only has like 6, thats right, 6 episodes. So they cant really show them all at once. Otherwise, I think we agree on the rest of the stuff. -
This is true patriotism... Thank you black rose. The title hero is up to each of us as individuals to decide. Of course I have high standards for a "hero" but that is ok. The military has their ways to honor those who go above and beyond the call of duty and those people will be honored as doing such. Thanks for putting out this sort of effort.

Ok has anyone noticed the largest injustice of T.V.? Thats right, Im talking about the bare Male butt cheeks that are always shown with no protest... And the Female butt cheeks that are almost impossible to see on cable. I'm no perv and I dont really care... I just thought it was a funny subject. I mean, how many male butts have you seen? (even on normal cable) All the while, it is a major problem to see anything close to a naked female body. So is it society or is it just a wicked double standard? You decide.
Originally posted by tabmow For practical purposes Saddam is dead unless he surfaces within the next few days and leads or commands an attack on Bagdad. Even if he is physically alive he is dead to the world because his people are reveling in their freedom. Saddam is figurativly dead if not physically. Osama on the other hand is very much alive. Even if he is physically deceased his organization can keep the persona alive mainly due to the fact that it is not linked to any specific location. To prove Osama dead we need a body. Saddam has lost his seat of power if we can relieve the Iraqis of the fear of his reign we have effectivly killed him.
Indeed... this is exactly it... Now, for the moment, we must all rejoice with our new bothers in democracy. ... to all of us who supported this effort in the begining, it is nothing less than true happiness, to the rest of you, Im sure this is a bitter sweet taste. Freedom and happiness to all.

Liberal cliches: The American goverment caffeteria lunch special. Served with a side of rain forest salad and a pint of poor-mans sweat.

I also noticed that the dude who does jet is the voice of that villian... Yup there is no doubt in my mind... That is definatly him.
-
Ok, this is now the official thread for the voice acting and translations of cowboy bebop. The actors, the wording/translations, the voice tones and anything else that has to do with the voice acting in cb. I want to start this with one very specific point... The man who plays jet. I have asked a dozen times before, but has anyone else caught this... He does the narrations of other shows, specifically "Dangerous Missions" on the history channel. Im sure it is him, and I just love the fact that I instantly noticed it. So... has anyone else noticed? Also, if you haven't, feel free to talk about what ever else you might want to, just keep it on the subject of the thread. Thanks.:D

Well I gotta say that I dont really know about those stats. The only thing I can say for sure is... 1. the McLaren has proven itself, the bugatti hasn't. 2. comparing a stock vette to a mustang that is the highest level of its kind is like comparing a bmw 325 to an audi s4. However, I like the fact that you are interested in cars to that extent. Its good to know, but your additude isnt all that nice to know. But what ever. I dont really like getting into flame wars over something as idiotic as arguing about the handling of cars no one has driven besides a select few in all of the world. Still a good call by you on the bmw symbol...:D

Hey, did anyone catch the daily show on comedy central today...? Well in the "ad nausseum" part of the show, one of the correspondents was talking about ads. He walked by billboards in nyc and I noticed that in the background there was a poster for cowboy bebop. I was amazed... it was cool to see another one of our little known special interest on national television. I wasnt sure where to put this post, but figured it was probably for the movie... so here it is. anyone catch it?
