TN, you are possibly more insulting than anyone on this board because of your own air of indifference to the possible insults that your comments may represent. I condem the idea of taking part in the above stated actions... I never supported the idea that a 13 year old should be doing such activities. (drugs sex etc) Although Im sure you just made a simple mistake about the sex thing because he did say specifically that he hadn't "done it." All the while you are reffering to the parents of this child indirectly as bad parents and the child themself as a loser. You should be far more ashamed for your lack of tolerance than this kid should be for his bad decisions. This truely has become another example of the self proclaimed victim of discrimination (that homosexuality thread we had a couple weeks ago) taking the moral low ground by showing their own intolerance for the mistakes of another. Although,I gotta say... since you went to birthday parties and played basketball at that age, you are definatly entitled the right to insult anyone you wish, none the less the parents who responded in a proper authoritative fashion upon finding out about the mistakes of their child.

Ahh this subbed and dubbed crap again. I would remind you all that syk warned against the discussion of cn and the dubbing of kenshin by cn. However, I gotta say that it is slowly becoming obvious to me that many people find the fact that they have watched something in its original version as a pass to knock on any english translations that are produced. I would say this is just another "who's the biggest fan boy thread"? Asking the age old question of whether or not it is acceptable that another wonderful anime is being brought to american television with english spoken language. I say bring kenshin. It has been a long time since I have had the honor of watching it. And even then it was an annoyance to read a fuzzy subtitle at the bottom of bootleg tapes. Oh well, the fact is... you just can't please some people.

I am having a hard time citing the exact source so I will come out with the second hand source that has been accepted by the open media and the intellectual community on both sides of the political spectrum... the O rielly factor. Several "minority leaders" were faced with this statistic on national television and all accepted its legitimacy. Hate to say it, but your personal experience with forth and fifth graders has little or no reflection on the national statistics. However, you must acount for places like dense cities in highly populated states like new york. With a overly dense population of one kind in one area, there is room for a odd statistics, such as this case. Just as with anything else, one large group can misrepresent the unspoken majority. Every study has its holes
Originally posted by Charles The fact that Dan's parents care about what he's doing, combined with his respect for their decision and his success in school prove that he's not a loser--even if he has made some mistakes. It's now up to him to learn from those mistakes and avoid repeating them.
I have to agree with charles here. He has a very important point and even more an unspoken point that I know, which he did not make. That stat... 70%+ of black fourth graders in America can not read. That is what makes for a problem with your tax dollars and people having to resort to crime. The fact that you are worried about having to pay or "deal" with "losers" like this kid experimenting with pot is just a perfect example of liberals for every conservative to use in the most insulting of ways. Dont take that the wrong way, I know you are a good person... literally a good person, you care about what is on the inside of a person and what is the true nature of each individual. However, this kid is at a cross roads. He can let illegal substances and practices ruin his life, or he can balance all the stresses thrown at him. School, girls, social place and the home life... Everyone of us that survived puberty knows that was a troubled time. Drugs, alcohol... which one of us over the age of 18 hasn't played with them? I have, but now I know that the high and love of weed isn't worth the trouble I will have if I continue my practice. I guess what I mean is that... This board member isn't your tax problem. High taxes are your problem. But life as a common teen is this guys problem and you should try supporting him with your own "experience" with turblent adolescence as a openly gay male. In that position you should be willing to accept anothers problems and most of all, support their decisions.
Originally posted by Queen Asuka *Reads this thread and her jaws drops* Parties, Beer, Girls, Sex, and Drugs and you're only 13? That makes me AFRAID to bring up children in this world. I don't want my kids to be in elementary school smoking weed or trying to have sex. It's a freaking shame. I can't believe you are into these types of things at your age. If you were at least 17 or 18 it wouldn't bother me as bad, but you are only 13! You are still a BABY! It makes me sad...it really does. I am sad for you. I hate the way that things like this are just so accepted in today's society. No one has values anymore. It's all about sex and drugs and partying. It really makes me feel outcasted because I'm against it. And all you people here defending it upset me as well, especially since most of YOU are only 14 and 15. None of you hardly are over 16. And you older people should be setting a good example instead of promoting this type of behavior. Well, you probably don't care what I say either way, but I really hope you get out of this. You don't know what kind of things can happen to you. Trust me, I've seen my friends go through this stuff, and they have been hurt BADLY.
Now this is what I like. Pretty girls with morals. I wish there were more like this. Unfortunatly, being immorral is part of the cool culture today. But I gotta say that this sort of opinion is rare. Most people dont like those who look down on drug use and infidelity. I guess what I am getting at is that... All of you should listen to asuka. My views on a certain illegal substance are not relavant to the situation and the fact is... Kids should act like children. Highschool is not the place for experimentation; unfortunatly asuka is gonna learn where that place is. (hint hint, any college in the country) anyway, I just wanna say I am proud of asuka for her moral stand on this sort of stuff. I just wish this sort of view would also wear off on the politics of the country.

Im not going to further this beyond my statments now, but evolution is theory. No matter how much you dont want it to be or how much you believe in certain elements. Evolution is a theory to be taken by the intellectual community as it is stated and not just the parts that one of us likes. the common dog to a wolf or humans and monkeys having the same unknown ancestor, both are part of the theory of evolution, and although I agree with parts, that doesnt change the fact that it is a theory. I do agree with elements of it and I will start to be specific about it, but no matter what, the idea of evolution is theory by all standards.
Originally posted by James And that, Ginny, only demonstrates that you don't know much about evolution. ~_^ color]
Personally, I take that statment not to mean that Ginny doesnt know what he/she is talking about, but to mean that I don't know what Im talking about. How do you know it is not possible that I said what Ginny also felt, only he/she was not at the moment able to express the same opinion in a "well written" way. The fact of the matter is... You pointed out the people who use holes in evolution to attempt proving there own points as if to disprove evolution and support the existance of god. However, you didnt at all cite the people that support evolution as a "be all and end all" fact that disproves the idea of a higher power who is responsible for the creation of god. I know based on your own post that you believe in a possible existance of evolution while still having a higher power responsible for our existance. The thing is... evolution IS a theory. I stated a point that I truely believe... I believe that man and ape are two different entities and were never one in the same because of common ancestors. However, I do believe in the idea that evolution can be seen in the development of man. (I.E. cro-magnum to present day man) But two things need to be recognized... 1. just as you said, this is about personal opinions of faith and evolution. 2. evolution is a theory. I support you having an opinion about this, but I dont support you writting of another persons opinion, as well as dozens of others, who do not support the idea that the concepts of "evolution" are fact. Survival of the fittest is an excellent idea, and it can easily support a theory such as evolutiion. But that same theory does not rule out or rule in, the idea that "evolution" is limited to humans and apes both evolving from 1 creature. However, it does support the idea that both humans and apes were capable of adapting to their enviroments. Bottom line, even if ginny doesnt know what he/she is talking about, they do have the right to say that my comments did a suitable job of representing their own. And tn, the bible actually does have a creation story from clay. Infact it has two creation stories. However, the story of lilith is not from the bible... it is jewish folk lore and by chance, the woman was not cast off simply because of her "ways." In many accounts of her story, she spoke a unknown name of god that is 72 letters long and instantly dissappeared to become the concubine of the devil. But like I said, that is all folklure.

I say be yourself and most importantly... STAY OUT OF TROUBLE. I didnt't say not to try out the things you are interested in. I am an advocate of the de-criminalization of marijuana, but I dont think that "kids" should be doing it. Listen to your parents for now... but later on, you will be able to make descisions for yourself. But until you know that and you are old enough to not be sure of it, dont act on your impulses. Youll understand that last sentence one day... hopefully.
Originally posted by Transtic Nerve Evolution has been scientifically proven, although not in humans. And well, creation hasn't been scientifically proven. I tend to believe what I have some proof of.
I hate to disagree here, but there isn't anything to this... Evolution has not been "proved," it has been supported. Support and common acceptance does not mean proven. Sorry tn, but it looks like this is another where we disagree. Unfortunatly for your side of this, even the average dictionary reffers to "evolution" as the theory of... Sorry tn, but it is a theory and it has gaps in the process.

If you believe in buddha and you can ask why god will "let us kill each other and the planet." Maybe you could explain to me why communist chinesse are killing off and oppressing other buddhist in places like tibet. Or maybe you could explain the actions of the Jappanesse buddhist in the era of world war2. I just wanted to point out that no matter what religion you consider yourself, its our actions that make us good people and simply being buddhist or muslim doesnt make you any more peacful or enlightened than christians or taoist. Oh yea, I have no intention of persuading your views, I just want to show everyone else that big words about enlightenment mean nothing. Peacful people and wise people exist in every culture and religion, you should try to acknowledge that. Which Im sure you do being that you are following the path of buddha.

I believe in god and an evolution theory of sorts. I dont believe in straight up evolution as preached by so many. It is still just a theory, and will stay that way until some one can find a large number of big plugs for the nasty holes in the theory. Although it looks good and makes sense, there are several spots where the scientist who support the theory must make jumps and I dont like making "jumps" in science. I believe in the theory of "survival of the fittest." which is the theory proposed by darwin, which is so often qouted and called evolution although darwin did not propose "evolution" specifically. Isn't it possible that a species is a species and within the species we can evolve, but we do not cross from one species to another. I guess Im just gonna give up on this... Bottom line is that I believe in god, and I believe in the deviation of a species, but not the evolution of one species into another. Dogs are dogs, cats are cats... monkeys are monkeys and people are people. We are not all the same and if we had been at one point there would be animals out there that are a mix of the most beneficial aspects of both species. That would be perfectly reasonable using the very same concept that all "darwinist" use... survival of the fittest.

I find it getting old that this thread is never looked at before another g gundam thread goes up. This sucker has 6 pages for goodness sake. btw, the last ep of g just aired, I wonder if they will air the series again or what... All I can say is that I still love the series and this time I got to record it. so I guess Im lucky, but I woulnt have to worry if it comes on or not... I got it on tape... heehee The two threads have been merged. -Shy

Well actually sara, you got them right. Unfortunatly I was trying to stick it to the "genious." I want to say to the question trans nerve posted that I believe it had not to do with secret agreements, but simple strategy. Why would you waste your time on an all out offensive and then leave you southern flank open to attack. That would make no sense. But you have sparked my interest with the idea that there is a secret agreement driving the strategic importance to attack from the south. Im not saying there were no agreements behind the scenes, Im just saying that when looking at the situation strategically, attacking from the south is without a doubt the best angle of attack.

I love it. I believe the french are a horrible group of people for more reasons than I could list here and with that in mind, I believe we should get rid of every element of french society in American culture. I would say boycott all together but most would think I was over reacting. Truth is... france makes 9 billion dollars in profit off the united states and their economy grows at 1% a year... If americans stop buying french anything, they will feel it more than us. French reprisal is nothing compared to American reprisal. I mean, there is a reason America is considered the biggest consumer in the world.

I know what you mean because I have seen it, but no one steals my stuff. I guess Im lucky or I just dont make good avatars. Oh well, but atleast I finally figured out how to make them.

Ahh Haaa! It is a trick question. Notice I put ORIGINALLY in all caps to draw attention to it. The actual answer is galvanized iron. The term g.i./ galvanized iron was stamped onto the iron canteens and eating equipment that calvalry soldiers let dangle from their saddles. It was on history channel, the show mail call, with R. Lee Ermy. I trust them, plus, the term as used above, pre-dates the General Issue usage of the word which was picked up at the being of ww1 or ww2. (not sure) So remember that little piece of trivial knowledge. I also want to ask you if you know what was the city that Archduke Francis Ferdinand was assasinated in? and what was the first country to declare war as a result... and who did they declare war on? These aren't tricks but they are history questions any self proclaimed genious should know off the top of their head...
Originally posted by Rain Yea, but a bit of History is always good to know. Makes it sound like you know what you're talking about in debates :p
Actually, there is a very simple reason for that... Its because you do know what you are talking about. (contextually speaking.) If your debating something like the politics of the world and your just speaking from your own idealistic philosophy, your not going to be able to continue a legetimate debate with another person who is basing their argument on the facts of history. Just look at the situations we have found ourselves in on these boards dozens of times. We will always get into the current events of the world and eventually one party that is speaking out of personal opinion alone will have to yeild to the facts that another person knows based on their knowledge of history. With that knowledge of history you will know how we got into a situation, and what others have already tried to solve the same problem. History is the study of the past, and the past is what led us to the place we are today. Without understanding the past, we will never be able to truely progress. This is even true with subjects like science and math... Formulas and set patterns are all history that was established long ago so that the people of today who are seeking answers to similar problems will not have to go through the same experimentation that great minds of the past had to go through. Plus, its not like I have to repeat the most famous of all qoutes...

I love history, but not to make anything personal out of this, (so dont get bent out of shape) but I really, really dont like "self proclaimed genious" types. It gets old. I guess I could ask you a simple question that I have asked here before and it is actually a really easy question to find an answer to, so good luck with it, Im sure you know... its been on tv before, so... What did "g.i." ORIGINALLY stand for?

Well you guys could always pull your rights as legal owners of cable and record the shows. Ive been recording for a while now and actually have the episodes on tape that include all the above stuff about sesshamaru's sword. It is in a sense equal to tetsiga. (sorry about the spelling.) Actually they are exact opposites. If you want the story pm me. Im watching cn right now as well and the show is just great. I sure have fallen in love with this show. god its funny, I just love the expressions and humor. As well as the flirting and fighting. Oddly, I really like the romance between kagome and inu yasha more than the action. I just gotta see more...

Dude, I am totally with you on the Ace Combat 4 thing. This is one of my favorite games ever. I have beaten it to the fullest extent. I have (S) rank on every mission of every difficulty from normal up to Ace. I have every plane and every weapon. On the level of reviewing the game... I believe this is the greatest flight game created. The detail on a technical level is amazing. The hidden controls of the plane are so deep that it takes weeks before you learn every little detail about how to view the targeted plane or just watch your missiles take out a target. The game is so good I have created threads about it here, and with no luck, I got just about no response. I would suggest this game as a buy for anyone interested in the genre. Dont waste your time or money on some cheese ball top gun game, buy ace combat 4.
Originally posted by Yu Law Blah not enough realness....but its cool
 Umm yea, realness in the world of gigantic robots called gundams... Oh dont get upset Im just kidding... Anyway, its back to the final episodes. I sure loved these. They were filled with excellent animation and most of all, wonderful emotion. I just can't say how much I love g gundam. Of course, if you really are interested you could go back and look at the dozen post or so in this thread. But just take my word for it and know that I love this show, just as I know you all do to. Well, some of you.:p So once this is completly over I will be back with another one of my final show postings. cya then...

Of course, how could I have not thought of that... Oh maybe its because the only episodes I haven't seen are the final ones of the kid buu saga. If you think about it, Im sure vegeta ask to be brought back with all of earths inhabitants who died after buu was brought to life. Of course I dont really know and thats just my guess. O well, could someone fill us in one the wish that brings veg back to life?
-
Well actually no, vegeta made up for nothing and went to burn in hell like the best of them. :D About the halo though, I dont really remember veg having a halo. I will look into it, and based on that, I will reply again.

Liberals or Conservatives: Who is the bigger threat?
Kent replied to Harry's topic in General Discussion
Well actually I like your last post just now. It was not hostile at all and that makes me respect the content far more than any hostile post. I do understand your point about us having different opinions and that is about all that needs to be said. But I want to remind you that we looked over japan and germany after they were disarmed and defeated. We had to disable these coutries ability to fight before they would submit to the will of the international community. As for picking and choosing... I believe that the long standing relationships between respectable first world nations should out weigh the temperary alterior motives that drive those countries. We can have patience with france, but not Iraq. (although on a personal level, I hate just about everything about france because of the air of ignorance/arogance they emit.) I also believe the united states should set a new president in isolationism. I say we with draw from everything and leave the world to deal with its own problems. However, I know that the world expects U.S. support economically as well as phisically. (in terms of food and medicine) So the world police issue is almost a non-issue. The fact is, some one has to do it and although I don't like that burden falling on the U.S.' shoulders, it must fall on someone's. Unfortunatly, no one else will step up until the time for action has already passed and the actions are all reaction based rather than preventitive. Preventing tragedy is always better than reacting to tragedy. Iraq is a threat to us, they are a large factor in the heated middle east situation you reffer to. When Saddam pays the families of suicide bombers 25,000 dollars after each bombing, everyone must admit that he contributes to the problem. But as I said before, I dont want saddam out for the problems in palestine... I want him out for the freedom of the iraqi people. Just find your way to some sort of info from the "free women of iraq orginization" and you will hear from first hand sources the true stories of turtore based around the practice of rape. Or ask Andy Mcnabb why all the teeth in his head are fake... do I need to even say it. Just think of those people who Saddam is destroying. They are the ones I care to save... not just the Americans that MIGHT get hurt. Although I will admit that I do believe Saddam's Iraq is responsible for the odd anthrax letters. I may be crazy, but it is fact that in the 80's Saddam was sold 2 biological agents for research at bahgdad university. Those two agents were bocholism and, you guessed it... anthrax. Unfortunatly for those who will argue this with me, that specific strain of anthrax was the "aims Iowa strain." That strain was the exact strain in the letters. But you guys dont need to flame me about that one... That is just the crazy conspiracy theorist in me which is constantly supressed for the reason of coming across as a "reasonable" person. -
I stand corrected on earlier statments... there were 5 crusades. I will apoligize for nothing to no one based on the actions of people from the past who I may or may not be related to. I will only apoligize for my own actions. Your grouping of christians is just as bad as the stereotyping of muslims which you are bringing up. Say what you wish, but keep in mind that everyone including people like myself are also garunteed the right to opine.
