Originally posted by Harry Marines definately, army are just drones they use to send in and they don't care if you live or die, marines you can go somewhere.
That sounds like one of the most backwards things ever said on the board. But what ever... I say that you should think about what you wanna do or what you will most likely end up doing. I would personally join the army, go into jump school, try to become a ranger, then try to work my way into something like a permenant position in special forces. Good luck with your decision... I should mention that my father was a ranger. So I just might be a little biased.:naughty: army all the way!!!:demon: ---------------------------- edit: I also wanna mention that if your gonna go in and just be an average enlisted man, and you want to be "hard," join the marines. The marine basic training is harder and the women and men are not integrated. However, you can't become a green beret in the marines, nor can you work with the greatest special forces troops in the world.

1. The pope met with tariq aziz. The pope said the war on Iraq was about oil. The pope did nothing about the pedophilia scandal. 2. One, I like to sleep in on sundays... two, I dont like being told what god thinks of me or my actions. three, my relationship with god does not need a middle man. 3.To be a good church... A church must be morally correct. (consistancy on social issues) A church must be ethically correct. (money must not be an issue for the church.) The biggest thing I feel when I go to church is a sense of "fakeness."

I dont really care about the commercial or them pushing an agenda on me. I dont smoke "ciggs" but I used to and all my friends used to. I didnt quit because of commercials, I quit because I wanted to. The worst part of this is that they dont mention a company name as towards who was doing this, so that is not a good sign when it comes to the factual side. Even worse is the fact that if I was gonna try and target my cigg smoking population, gays and low income/homeless people would be on this marketers list of possibles. Sorry to say it, but thats just good strategy when it comes to selling smokes. Although I still think the idea of "project scum" is pretty crappy. However, I would have really liked it if they would have just said a company name. It would have added greatly to the ads validity. Otherwise it ends up sounding like another one of those bogus political reports coming from "an unnamed source inside the pentagon."

Well according to my psychology professor, "every male has homosexual dreams at some point during puberty." Take that as you will. I can only say to be yourself, and that means listen to your heart. Not anyone elses.

I thought you left because your damn sister died.:therock: But whatever, I stuck up for you in that thread too. enough of that though... Im hitting on this idea of maturity. The way I see it... although the subjects have become more mature, the people discussing them and the quality of the replies are still the same. The topics changed, not the people. Just look how long it takes before any political thread turns into flaming and inturn is closed.

Basically uubu is the reincarnation of buu. (gokou asked for it after the whole buu thing so he could find out once and for all who was stronger) Uubu is the human kid gokou talks about hiding his power. Gokou and uubu fight and eventually gokou flys, uubu is amazed and gokou realizes uubu will never use his full potential unless he is properly trained. Uubu hops on gokou's back and the two fly off "to become stronger"! at uubu's home island where gokou will train him. Everyone gets to say goodbye to gokou. Pan beats goten in the tournament and buu lets satan win the title. Thats about it... heres a pic for you to get the picture...

Dont do a thing. She doesnt really like you. She just likes the idea of you since now you have a girlfriend and proved that she was nothing special. She just wants to feel like she is better than your girlfriend. Dont fall for it. Trust me.

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Kent replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
CRAP! I just missed the first half of nadesico and I am totally regreting it. I need to be on point with this because they are only showing a tiny bit of each of these shows. Like today is the last episode of eva they are showing. I dont really know what Im feeling. In one way Im pissed that they are giving me a tease like this. (hoe productions at its finest) and in another way I am totally stoked that they are showing this stuff in the first place. I guess I am just hoping they will show more of this stuff in the long run, and if you ask me, thats what this is about. I think this is all just a testing to see how well these shows will do if they were to pick them up. cn is slowly learning one thing... anime is good. I also noticed yesterday that cn is bringing (forgive my lack of knowledge) that show about the wandering samurai named R something, kenshin. (sorry) So that is gonna be awesome. What do you guys think? I can say I am really looking forward to this and I honestly believe eva will be coming back in time... So from here on things just might be looking up. --------------------------- Ok this is another edit before anyone is getting into this again... but who cares. Heres the deal for us americans. March 17th. Kenshin and kid buu. Buu at 5:30 est. and Kenshin at 6:30 est. I hope you guys are looking forward to this as much as me... -
Mark me down with justin and matt. I feel really bad about what has happend to this girl, but she needs to accept responsibility. If she can take the actions to be in the situation, she can take the actions needed to accept the situation. Abortion is not the correct path in my opinion. And if I was gonna bet on it... I would bet that if she accepts responsibility and has the child, then gives it up for adoption, she will be less likely to have this happen again. Where as, if she had an abortion, I would be willing to bet this would happen again. I hope that your friend can stay strong and healthy through this. I will pray for her to make the right decisions at this most turbulent time in her life.

My opinions on subjects like this usually get me typing for a while, so tonight I'm avoiding it. Basically I try to believe in Karma. Or you could say I believe in Karma just as much as Dharma. I have troubles expressing thoughts about "energy" and "spirituality."

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
Kent replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central
Alright, the first day of giant robot week is here, and nadesico has just played. Hot damn! I dont really care how bad anyone thinks the dialoge or voices were messed up, the show still rocked. I'm sure it will be like that for most of these since the most Ive seen of nadesico and eva is tid-bits from the net and other various places that didnt let me really get into them. I am glad cn is putting these shows on. but I gotta say, I was really impressed with nadesico in the charactor department. Interactions and individuality are great in this show. Its not all that great to be thrown into another planitary war... but I can deal with that in order to get an eye full of this stuff. Im sure this topic is gonna blow up in about half an hour, and most likely I will back with a reply "post-eva." -
In public it is totally unacceptable to me. In private, I believe it should be a discret action, not an overt showing of immaturity. I do appreciate people who are open and honest, but flatulations are little white lies I can live with out hearing.
Originally posted by Syk3 Eh, I'd have to disagree with you there too. While it is cool to have Spike fight someone so similar, it really has no affect on the plot as a whole, and there is nothing else in the series that brings up the topic of Spike fighting with himself. Fighting Vicious didn't have anything to do with fighting himself, since Spike fights so many people in the entire series, and Andy is the only person that you can see Spike's reflection in. That topic was the outlining theme in this episode, making it a filler that doesn't affect the plot.
I agree with this statment by spike. The ideas brought up here reminded me of one of my favorite episodes in the series for an odd reason. Hard luck Woman What reminded me was the idea of spike fighting and the way spike meets a true master of his own fighting style. Ed's father. Ed's pop is the best fighter in the series. Just look at his ability to not move at all while spike is flying wildly in every direction. Now think about what spike tried to teach the kid in that "waltz for venus" episode. (I do believe that was the ep about the plant to cure a girls blindness and her brother.) That should be enough support for my basic comments about ed's father and spike's fight. sorry to jump topic.

So I guess your the first person to ever be stranded in the desert with no worries about water? Um yea, I wouldn't worry about the eating part cause your gonna die of dehydration first.

I am really happy for you, there are few joys greater than having a child. Try not to let that morning sickness get you down... Im sure you will be the best mom ever. (besides my own of course:D )
Originally posted by Orien_Xel Gokents, I do not need to tell you, or anyone else the logic or reasoning behiind my opinion. I never tried to sway you to my side. Just because you disagree doesn't give you the right to say that I am not well informed, or that my opinion is wrong. Techinically, you didn't say any of those things, but you have said them in other furoms, and I am tired of it. You constantly deride any other viewpoint other then you're own as "wrong". And I think you should take back that "Foolish kid" thing. We kids are the future of your pathetic world. You adults are the ones who have screwed it up so much. Why are "kids" any less intelligent then adults? Just because we're not as old as you are? Many of the people that belong to Otaku Boards are kids. How dare you call us foolish.
I know you take my opinions to be condensending of your own... I do not mean for this to be the case. Infact, none of your words in this thread have brought up argumentitive feelings from myself. Most important in addressing your post above qouted, is the idea of "you adults." This is a term you should think about. Being that I am only a young adult at the age of 21, you should take into account who was running and changing the country you grew up in. (assuming anyone reading this is american, I can not speak on issues pretaining to the social and political affairs of other nations.) If you are as old or older than me the past has been about a 50/50 split between the political left and right. If you are younger it has been even more dominatly biased towards the left. I have not at all been responsible for the current situations, but I refuse to ignore them. This term I used, "foolish kids" was rash, but was a reaction to the idea that this girl was not doing something inappropiate. Unfortunatly, the public schools are not a place for protest. This particular thread should only be addressing the right of a school to "deal" with the students actions and appearance. Yet for an odd reason, this thread has become tied with the current political issues that have plauged the boards in the past. This ideological split that exist between many members and I has created an atmosphere of hostility. I believe that much of your reaction to my "foolish kids..." comment was out of anger and not reason. I do not put down on people who express their own opinion simply because I believe they are wrong. I only address anything that is of a factual matter, which any member of the boards may have misqouted. When I attack what has been said by any one member of the boards, I am attacking what this person has said, not them as a person. This idea of personal attacking became more obvious to me earlier when people of a different political view mentioned the idea of "gee, Im agreeing with gokents... is this good or bad"? I knew at that point that the previous engagments were leading people to expect certain comments or opinions. I wondered if these people realized that we both want the same result of "the better good for man kind"? I know that most of us want this sort of goal, but we all have different ideas and approaches to achive this end goal. When I dealt with cloricus's comments I addressed the simple fact that he had contradicted his own words. This "t-shirt rights issue" is much more black and white than most would make it out to be. The fact of the matter is that the school not only has the right to create a priciple, but it also has the obligation to provide a stable learning enviroment. No matter what your feelings are on the message of the shirt, the message of the shirt remains the same and that message is offensive to some. Offensive material leads directly to hostilities. This compramises the stability of the enviroment and therfore must be removed. This is why school uniforms are good. This issue is not a general censorship issue. Your comments (orein) were directed at myself and not the issue. I'm sorry if you have felt offended in the past, -kent -------------------------------------------- Cloricus, you may be austraillian, but that only gives you more of a right to tell me if the austraillian schools deal with problems like weekly bomb threats (in towns like my own hometown, williamsburg, Va.) or if schools on the other side of the world have to deal with gang rivalries carrying over into the public schools. Conformity and uniformity may be a horrible idea to most, but uniformity is also a key to productivity. At the ages of public grade school, we must raise our levels of productivity if we wish to better our society.

Wow, "dont make my post an anti-bush post"... That is all that need to be said about how you explain all your views. That and the "Im not on either side of this... Im just defending..." Sounds like your awefully confused because out of both of your essays consisted of 90% personal politics and about 10% issue realated opinions. Sadly, even your opinion related points were in no way paying attention to the rules and regulations of general conduct in a public school. I also like what tn said, kids that age have no place in politics. I also think that this person (boy or girl) was simply trying to get attention, act cool, and project an image of defiance. Foolish kids...

Oh, that is good with out a doubt in that you are being accurate about interpretation of the laws stating why and when a public highschool has the right to "deal" with a matter such as a students clothing. It is a very good thing indeed... It shows me that you aren't making this out to be about general censorship or your personal opinion of W. Bush. I believe that my opinions and support of my opinions in my first reponse should be enough of an input on this subject for me to not respond again.
-
Wow, I totally didnt expect that one from tn. First off, just because you do not find this offensive does not mean it is not offensive. I find it terrobly offensive and if I had been at school with a person wearing this, I would most likely resorted to verbal abuse and possibly phisical abuse... had it not been a girl. Keep that in mind if you think this shirt wouldnt have caused trouble or hindered the schools function. I consider fights to be a problem in any school. Second, it is a public highschool and for that very reason it is the schools right to not allow her to wear such a shirt. All of my friends throughout highschool could never wear shirts with items like weed leaves and drug parifanalia on them. Those shirts have nothing offensive in terms of profanity, yet they obviously have subject matter that is borderline between offensive to some and distracting to others. Its also important to recognize the distraction factor in this... why can't girls where clothing that is too revealing? Because it can serve as a distraction.(amongst other reasons) This shirt would have served as a cause of heated debate/argument in every class. I also want to point out what another person mentioned and the fact is... this incident will only be noticed because of the leftist ideology it represents. If this were a shirt with the term baby killer on it and had a picture of an aborted fetus, no one on the left, including the ACLU, would support the persons right to wear it. (only a few who were consistant, which based on his post would include tn, would stick up for the students rights.) Plus, I dont really want to get into bush and what not, but he is not a terrorist. I think Im with James on the fact that wearing such a shirt only shows how foolish someone is. (but if you really think bush is a terrorist, where were your strong words when clinton was in office or any other american president?... including the democrates) I think it would behoove all of you to go check out a site called brain terminal . com. It is filled with video footage of the anti-war protesters and just might give you an idea of how stupid those people make themselves look at times. Bottom line on the subject is that this is a public highschool and the pricipal had every right to send this child home. Remember that this is not controlling this student in general, it is only keeping control during school. No one said she couldnt wear such a shirt outside of school.

Ohh booo hooo, Im gonna get the chance to watch a season of dbgt I haven't yet seen... and all without paying a single cent. Damn I hate those people at cn, they always manage to bring me stuff I haven't seen and wouldn't see since Im not willing to pay astronomical amounts just for bootleg tapes. Oh well, like I explained in the gundam thread about zeta.... Atleast I know Im a hardcore anime fan now that I can bash on another great gift to cable television.

I've been hearing about this all day and didn't feel like starting a thread. It's a true tragedy. I also believe that the band should be held responsible for the illegal use of pyro-technics, which lead to the death of over 90 people. I sure hope responsibility is placed on the people at blame and the deaths of these people are properly honored. This is a true shame, and just one more reason that nightclubs suck.
-
I would totally smoke grass every day if it wasn't illegal. (so remember that when you think of us republicans) But wait, this isnt about illegal stuff, and so... I get high off of anything phisically active, but my activity of choice is mountain biking. I also get high of off any sort of food. I also love to drink and for me thats legal, so beer is a big time thing for me. Love that one. I guess thats it, but I like how all you kids are turning towards sodas and candy instead of drugs and alcohol.

I like people who respect others and themselves. Cobain didnt respect himself and I dont know about how he respected others. But leaving behind a world of fans, a wife, a child and a fortune that billions of people in this world would die for, is just plain selfish and wrong.

Hey, its not that bad... I had the best and I mean, best girl in the school under my thumb. (and I really mean best, she was soooooo far out of my league I cant even tell you. but I will try.) She was so far out of my league that I didn't even get nervous around her because I wasn't even in the least thinking about the possibility of her liking me. It allowed me to be myself like never before. She was about 5'10" 115-125lbs. Dirty blonde, truely a girl I call beautiful before almost any other I have met. She was amazing beyond anything I could ever explain to you all. Not only all that, but my dirty *** had nothing to do with the most popular and prepy kids in the school, who were all her friends. I had spent all my time with her for the last 2 months and I was now close to sure she was diggin' me. All my and her friends told me that and I couldn't believe it. That new years eve, she spent the night at my house after the party I threw... When we came back to school it was litterally crawling with rumors. Everything from us doing drugs together, to straight up getting it on. Needless to say, things never worked out and I was barely friends with her ever again. So next time you think its bad, think about kent and the girl that got away. Sooo.... good luck with your problem and remember that it will pass eventually. This sorta sounds like your in grade school of some sort, and I know how kids that age act... there will be another rumor soon enough and they will forget about your troubles.
-
Im sorry to hear about that. I have been involved in accidents and witnessed them. Far too many of both. I've litterally seen and been in too many to try and recall the numbers. Im sorry to hear about your situation. I also wanna say Im glad you didnt get hurt. I also wanna mention that I dont think harry's coming back to the boards. He was a steady poster the whole time he was hear and he hasnt posted once since he made the first post in that thread...
