I guess that includes the cb club too? I sorta dont like that because, the cb thread had a wide variety of stuff in it. Although I would say that it did go with a bunch of this is my fav. crap. So I respect your decision.

To me Russia is a wild card, but china... I dont think their population is worth the same amount as the number of people, in that, japan took large portions of land during WW2 and has been warring with china for the longest time. As you know, japan has half the size and hence, half the population. (although japan is amazingly densly populated) So to me I can see what James said as being very accurate. I would personally say about Russia that they are going to side where it is best for Russia and not the rest of the world. They have too much to gain and lose. They have nothing, compared to their former glory, yet they still have an amazing wealth of resources and supplies. I would say that they are gonna side with the anti-war effort until they see it is futile, then they will jump ship and try to pick up ecomonic efforts with the u.s. as well as the new Iraq. On a side note, it should be known that russia did sign a 5 year economic plan with Iraq as of about 7 months ago. So I wouldnt be suprised if they try to protect that deal since they probally havent collected their money yet.

Endymion expressed the main point that I support. (good job) I believe it doesnt matter. Not entirly of course. I do think that both have positives, but some times negatives come out with both. I dont really know what to say besides one thing in certain... I am happy to see that the usual bashing of dubbed hasnt occured in the usual quantities we see in this sort of thread. Since that hasnt happend, I dont have too much more to say. Dubbed, Subbed... makes no difference to me. Just lemme have my anime.

Well I want to address some things said in the past page or so that just exploded with replies in the time I ate dinner. first off, I want to mention that the "world" or "most of it" is not against this war the way it has been portrayed by someone at the end of the last page. If that was the case, europe would not be in split that has france and germany on one side and the rest of europe on the other. (the rest of europe are the ones supporting action and not france and germany's attitude of distraction.) I also want to mention something about what juuthena said... The largest amount of foriegn investing from america went to china, with a total of approxamatly 22% of the total foreign investing. No other nation got that much investment out of america, and what that makes me think about is the idea of china being a fascist nation and not a communist nation. Although I could understand some of the people not getting that... hence, communism is state control buisness in a socialist country. Fascism is a system similar to that... it is a socialist system that allows private buisness.(note that both systems are based on a totalitarian government with dictators.) Hence, china being in the wto and getting 22% of america's gross foriegn investing implies that they are not communist, but fascist. However, this is a bit off subject... But I have something else to say. I want to say that I am proud to see so many "independant voices" in this. Many here are just the same as usual, but oddly, in the last 3 pages I have seen a rise in the amount of posting which was based around ideas that were not based on crap like Oil, but instead, ideas that came from educated and well spoken writers utilizing facts, history, logic and reasoning. Well spoken fellas... you know who you are.

I would say that some one in the teachers staff or administration at your school is into hentai. Its not that the otaku has anything to do with hentai, but some jerk thats into hentai just might try to block anything that came to his mind when it came time to block everything possible. Its also possible they just looked at every site that came up in the records of sites visited and decided that the otaku was not related to anything for school, hence... blockage. I think that sucks for you to not be able to access the otaku, but I guess you should be doing school work in that place anyway. I mean, maybe schools have changed since my day, but I was only able to go online once in a blue moon, and when I did, there were nazi teachers marching the line behind each of the students. I would just suggest trying to find away around it although I doubt that would be possible. Good luck.

Well just like you, I dont mind you having your opinion. Its like Ive said a million times before... makes things better when both sides are accounted for. But I still dont really see why people want to go to war with North Korea and ignore Iraq. I mean, we have the chance to stop Iraq from doing what n.k. has done (obtaining and producing you know whats) but everyone thinks its a good idea to talk things out with Iraq and jump into it with N.K. It just doesnt make sense to me, I dont know, maybe its that side of me that understands what the cold war was about? Not that anyone else doesnt, just that, well... I dont know, I figure that for some, no amount of evidence will ever be enough. And I guess we would all rather wait around to see what happens than use our better judgment. Of course, if you dont believe anything presented to the U.N., then I guess your better judgment would tell you there is nothing wrong in Iraq. I should mention that the U.S.A. doesnt do assasinations on heads of state, contrary to what some in the "conspiracy theory" mind set may want you to believe. Of course, if we were allowed to do that sort of thing, I would fully support it. Either way, I still believe the greatest point to be made is simply this... To ask for peace and not war with Iraq, is to ignore the suffering of the Iraqi people. No honest person should be able to say that dethrowning Saddam will do more damage than good. It will allow the Iraqi people to do as they wish to for once in their lives. But I do wanna say, lets go to war with N.K. thats a great idea to me. Nothing makes more sense than jumping into a fight with a nuclear power. All the while ignoring a problem that will only continue to get worse. We shouldnt let personal beef with the bush administration blind us to the problems of the world.

I find it funny, yes funny, that people are worried about innocents, and for that reason they want Saddam to be left alone. That is an oxy-moron if I have ever thought one out. If we dont know, then we all should know that Saddam does more damage to the people of Iraq without anyone elses bombs or war, than most of us would ever allow from first world democracies trying to liberate those people. If we truly are as caring and loving about the people of Iraq as we claim, we must to go war simply to save them from the most horrible leader in the world. I dont think I need to write those deeds he has done... torture, genocide... they arent needed for this, but I often wonder if all of the people protesting war realize that allowing Saddam to continue as he has will just let these actions go on for an amount of time that no nation should have to endure. If we really care, we will save the people of Iraq, not leave them to die by the hands of Saddams military and secret police. I mean... hallabjah. Thats all I should have to say about saddam. btw, I hope those innocents your talking about protecting arent the ones manning tanks, artillery peices and marching around with assault rifles...

Iraq is one of the most important places in terms of historic value, yet under Saddam, no one is allowed to go and look at these places. Tourist, nor acheoligist, no one. I also want to remind you that bombing has targets. We dont just carpet bomb the whole country hoping to hit something. We aim, and we aim on targets that provide military capabilities. If war was forced on you, would you try and hide your tank and artiliary, which you knew were targets, in the yards of civilians or on the steps of the most important archeoligical structures in the world. I wouldnt, I would face my enemy openly and try my best to win the war. But I wouldnt drag unwilling civilians into it... do you think Saddam will do that? Or will he be willing to put the innocents of his country in the line of fire? I believe that not attacking Saddam and forcing him to disarm is the equivalent to giving Adolf Hitler Poland and hoping he would stop there.

Well, first off, Its al-queda in the enlish translation, but that is of no real importance because we all know what you meant, just as with when you meant to say "right" and not "rite." Just so you know though, James and My previous english teacher made me realize that simple grammatical errors call the over all quality of any writing into question. I do want to stress though, that I do not see what you mean about what I did. I find that interesting, I mean, I do understand and know (since I did it) the spitful nature of my last post. But I see no insult as open or as personal as your attempts to say such things to me as..."gokents, go suck a flag" and other classics like " ... I go to school so I can get a job, not sit on my arse all day and watch cnn." Although I will admit, I like you determination, I dont like your attempt to take an approach of justifying your own comments with a "personally I dont believe either side, I just enjoy taking the other side to the most vocal person." Atleast do your usual routine and stick to your guns until the very end, without that, your argument holds no validity, and ends up being just an unneeded rant on doubts of a situation this country, and the world, need no more confusion on.

Its refreshing to see post like that of cloricus compared to Juuthena. I find it great to hear debates leading to the exact words of Iraqi officials talking about special effects and stunts, as well as personal insult... sitting on my "arse." I mean that is sweet. I guess what makes me wonder is the difference between juu, cloricus, and myself. I dont really think it would be mature of me to elaborate on cloricus. Instead I focus on the difference I feel between someone such as him and Juu. I find that when Juu speaks, there is an open, honest and caring heart there. Sometimes its nice to see why I keep my views so strong and stick up for what I believe in. With opinions that are pressed with the utmost of energy, such as that of cloricus, I end up realizing why the world is better off having my side as well as his. Well played cloricus... I couldnt have made you look any worse myself.

I just noticed that they have started the series of cn episodes from the begining again. I would say it TOTALLY sucks, but I kinda liked seeing the begining again, none the less the chance to record the stuff I didnt record first time around. (as well as catching that ending song that grew onto me so that I could never get it out of my head) Im just sad that the show has to go. Especially for reign. Although I havent seen it, reign just doesnt have the same "eye candy" value that a beautiful anime like i.y. has. I mean, aeon flux was cool, but nothing on i.y.
-
Juuthena, I am only going to try and, well, I dont know what to say. I guess I will start with what I feel the most important in your statment. The payment of the soldiers... something so trivial in the game your discussing. War, your ask the question of whether or not it is right to go with no regard to the people you are saving... none the less what you will pay the soldiers who you will send. The pay should be no object, and if anyone in america's society deserves millions of dollars a year to do their job, its not a professional sports player, its the soldiers who will give his life for the life of another. I truly could never begin to express how disturbing it is to see that, and how aggrevating it is to see that from san fransico when I am at a point in my life where everyone tells me not to stereo-type the people from that area. When asking if it is right to go to war, you must not ask what is to gain for us as Americans or as an individual; we must ask what is to gain for the people of Iraq and the surrounding area. To ignore the human rights in Iraq would alone be hypocritical of any person who ask for peace. Saddam is not a threat to America alone but also Isreal, Kuwait, Qutar, and threw the first strike of the 8 years war, which all of whom he has attacked within the last 20 years. I would personally like to ask if you even watched the Address to the U.N. that Seceratary of State Powell made presenting audio and video footage of Iraqi military officers communicating the directions to "evacuate" "nerve agents". 8500 litres of anthrax were ordered by Saddam and this was presented. Nothing has been accounted for. Nor has anything been presented to show evidence of its destruction. A 2nd guard corp. officer of the Iraqi army speaking with a general directly under Saddam was focusing on "wireless" and stopping speaking of all nerve agents. I dont know what your going to say tomorrow, I dont think it will make a difference during this conflict, but in 20 years, who knows... you may be a player in the politics of this country, and that is what frightens me. Being against war in general is fine, but any anime fan who has watched the cell games has seen fist hand the idea of there being people "who words alone will not reach." Please dont argue for peace while ignoring the women raped by Saddams secret police, or the children who witnessed their parents being blinded by the most cruel of ways. These things happen, but I fear that "liberal" teachers of the west coast choose to ignore that element of this conflict, and that shows me selfishness more than benevolence.

Well, since so many here have shown an opinion that seems to not know exactly what went on in the past... I would like to explain just for a second. (well for me that means about a paragragh or two) Basically, the shah of Iran was the victim of a hostile take over by the iatola and the shah was exiled. After that, the iatola supported the capture and holding of american hostages siezed by terrorist who captured the hostages from american embassies. That said, America and Iraq already had relations, so when Iraq made a plea for the worlds help during the 8 years war, (between iran and iraq) America sided with iraq. (infact we gave saddam bochalism and the aims-iowa strain of anthrax because of his plea for defensive capabilities against possible Iranian gas attacks, contrary to what people think, saddam used niether to kill the kurds and actually used seron nerve gas during that war.) So at that point we were friends with Iraq and allies to some extent. Then in 1990 Saddam claimed that the sovereign nation of kuwait was actually the 19th provence of Iraq. That in mind, Saddam invaded with everything, tanks, infantry, helicopters and what was at the time, the 4th largest army in the world. This was not acceptable, hostilities such as these have been wrong no matter where. America stepped in and began operation desert shield. After a few months the operation was changed from a simple aid of defense to a full on offensive attack with the intention of forcing Saddam to with draw all troops and cease all hostilities towards kuwait. At that point the op was changed to the name desert storm. This was when Saddam openly began to show his hate for america and Americas first hostile interaction with Iraq. After Saddam was defeated, he was offered the oppurtunity to stay in power if he would sign surrender papers and agree to u.n. resolutions that would limit his military power. (hence all the u.n. resolutions we are talking about today like #1441) That is the background between the two of us. (the U.S. and Iraq) In my opinion we need to deal with this problem now. The fact is that Saddam is just as dangerous as we all know, but if he does succed in his pursuit of nukes, America might not be the first to get it, but Isreal will cease to be. (with that in mind, chemical weapons just might go into use also) I do think that america is playing the role of the worlds police, but the truth is, someone needs to do that and no one else is willing to. And I do believe there is a difference between rouge nations such as Iraq and Noth Korea having nuclear weapons and nations like Britian and America. But that is a discussion which does not apply to the crimes of Iraq. I do suggest that everyone goes and checks out the evidence for themselves before they make any conclusions. ------------------ Ive just found out that the entire address given by sec. Powell is transcribed online at foxnews.com, If you will trust them I would say its a good place to get a start on what happend. I personally trust them, and for that matter, most of the "first world media."

Just like anything, 80s music is some good and some bad... Only in the case of 80s music its alittle more bad than good. Well, maybe a lot of bad. Either way, there is a lot of music from that decade that I love. I think some was horrid, but a good bit of it was really cool and more importantly, when I hear it, it gives me a feeling of nastalgia, and that is always great when it takes you back to (in my case) a mostly joyful childhood.

This is the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life on an international level. Thats right, Im talking about the hard evidence against Iraq presented by Colin Powell. I am watching the address now and its is literally making my stomach sick. The evidence of chemical weapon production, hiding and testing is overwhelming. Video footage of practice runs to deploy anatrax using modified Mirage fighter jets. Photographic evidence of chemical weapons facilities with semi-truck mounted mobile labs and de-contamination labs on semi-trucks were presented. (Dated may 2002) There were photos presented which showed where saddam had the crust of the earth removed from sites used to host weapons labs as to remove any possible evidence that may have been present after years of testing and development. Records of Iraqs own admissions towards what they had produced as of 1999, yet nothing to indincate that anything has or had been destroyed. Most disturbing was the audio recordings of Iraqi military officers coordinating the movment and hiding of nerve agents. Defected Iraqi citizens testifying to the testing of these weapons on human subjects strapped to beds were used as a referrence to saddams violent nature. (along with the already known use of these weapons during the 8 years war.) This truely is undeniable evidence and only the most skeptical of critics will try and argue this evidence. This infact has frightened me to the point that I do not have the same support for military action (which I now know must be taken) becuase of my worries that these weapons will be used in the air and water supplies of Iraq as well as any of the previously attacked countries in the reigon. Nuclear weapons still have not been obtained, but the "ingrediants" to create these weapons have been clandestinly seized as well as recorded with photographic evidence. This is the nail in the coffin for saddam, but the question is... will these weapons (which are now proven to be in saddams possesion) be the nail in the coffins of hundreds, thousands or even millions of innocents whom may be involved in the forcful dis-armament of Iraq? Now Sec. of State Powell is addressing the terrorist elements hosted in Iraq. Names of the directors of terrorist camps that specifically teach how to produce poisons. Terrorist camps producing ryson (sp?) are caught on photograph and the movement records of extremist terrorist affiliated with Al-Queda are being presented. Also, do you think this is the "dental visit" that proves the U.N. to be a toothless tiger? What do you guys think? and please, I would really like it if the kiddies on the boards that didnt bother watching the address would refrain from the usual skeptical rants of doubt. I want all the opinions possible, but lets keep this on a serious and educated level of discussion.

Besides any opinions I have of mike, I wanna mention something that he said the other day. He said something about preffering water ballon fights and climbing trees over sex, and then went on to say he still has sleep overs with young boys. This sorta disturbed me since there were all of those horrible rumors in the past. But what ever, I dont really care as long as those are rumors and not something that actually happens. As for his "talent," sure he was the king, but I dont think he is really the king of pop today. Then again, since I dont think there is a king of pop and since I know not a damn thing about pop... what the hell, I say mike is the king of pop. I do however believe that he should give up on making music unless he can do it on a scale that he can keep up with. I mean, just with in the last six months he conincidentally sued his record company for one thing or another, and eventually it came out that he was in debt to them because they gave him an advance on an ablum he was to produce, but like you could guess, it didnt sell. So I guess that mike really is talented, but his time to shine was the 80s and early 90s. If I was him, I would release a best of album and let it go.

In these situations I ask myself... wwjwd. What would John Wayne do? I would say it sounds like shes got personal problems that have nothing to do with you. Therefore, if you just ignore her and continue on with your life just as you had before (hanging out with the same people and being the jolly ol' fella you are) then she will probably pull the famous... "why are you mad at me"? After about 3 weeks of not remembering why she got mad at you in the first place she will resort to that, I promise. (unless she has a ton of ignorant pride, if thats the case she will just talk dirty about you behind your back and never give up hating you) That is what I would suggest, and I dont suggest things that I wouldnt do myself. Good luck, and remember not to let this ruin your life because that would probably make her all the happier to continue doing what she has been. (just keep on livin and ignore the sucker)

Hell yea, Lady mac. Not only am I glad to see someone reads the post that are put up besides the first one, but Im also glad to see someone who actually gives a little mind to the questions others ask. I have been thinking about that subject for the last year or so atleast and I always just let it pass by with out giving any real thought to it. Yet the whole time I look at myself in the mirror and see a spitting image of my mother and grandfather. It just gets to me to think about it because I have pride in my fathers name as well. I identify with my doyle genetics and heritage, and I always think the name thing over. In the end I just hope that I can make the right decision which ever way I go. I am at the moment thinking that Im gonna change my name. Im still in college and I think that if I get my name changed before I graduate, I will be able to get the right name on my diploma. So yea, I just wanna thank you for your support.

Joe is one unlucky guy if you ask me. Sure at first he was lucky, and last night he got lucky. But after the show I just watched I was really feeling bad for joe. He is an honest guy and it came through the last ep. Its eating him up and I believe that he is really feeling bad about this. I just hope that he can forgive himself for what he took part in. I really dont think he realized it would be so hard on his conscience when he first signed up. I also hope that the women can forgive him, or atleast the one that he picks. Of course, thats only if he doesnt pick the curly dark haired gold digger. Money can seduce a woman, thats for sure, but there is one on there who is just the worst Ive seen on the show. YES, 8:57 pm and he picks zora over the weak *** gold digger. Hot damn, Im such a gimp about this, but this show rocks. The girl I totally disliked just got booted and as joe said "there was something not there and I just couldnt put my finger on it." That something is honesty, she was the biggest gold digger of the group and it sure is nice to see her get booted. Sorry, dont mean to sound cynical or sadistic but I really dont think she was cool. Oh well. Yea, I feel bad for the girl now, after watching her cry, but whatever shes out. I do really wanna stress that I feel really bad for joe. He has made it obvious to me that he really does feel horrible and I hope he can get over this. Nothing is worse than a guilty conscience.

I would have to say I still think its not a great idea to knock on your teacher. But its also a great way to pass the class by. I personally always go out of my way to hold my tongue with my teachers. Which is actually really hard because college profs. are all liberal as a motha and I just happen to be in the middle of things. So when they start spewing off about all the politcal stuff (dont ask why eng. teachers do that) I always have a different opinion. In the end, I think its best just to suck up to them. Although in highschool, its a bit different, your not paying to go to school and if you fail you get to try again with nothing besides a bad grade. In my case, I pay out the *** just to try. If I do well, great, if I do badly, well, that sucks and Im out a good 300 bucks. So sucking up just to make sure that the english teacher doesnt give me a bad grade for no reason is worth it to me. One day I will have the last laugh.

Yea, Im with lady m on this one about needed to stay here. I used to not be willing to give this place a try, but after time I began to notice that bunches and bunches of different people were slowly showing me what a great place this is. As for your dilema... That is quite the dilema, I will give that to you. I would suggest giving up on it and going to see what its like with the other "lass." Personally I can tell you that long distance relationships dont work, but theres no one who doesnt know that. However, if you really love the one thats leaving, stick it out and see what happens. Love is rare, and I mean RARE. So just let me say good luck, decisions of the heart are for you alone to make...

Ahh yes, the macross plus series. A really good series, especially for a 4 episode sort of thing. I really feel in love with mp after the first scene of the first episode. Which, by the way, was cut from the movie and a true mistake by the producers since that just happens to be one of the best scenes in the series. I thought that the animation was really good, but the varitechs were designed really well. Especially the yf-21. The way it was able to shift its shapes was awesome. I would say that this series is good for any anime fan that hasnt seen it and even better for any macross fan that hasnt seen it.

Actually harlequin, the plow was a much more important invention than you are giving it credit for. Not only did it allow us to work greater sized pieces of land but it also changed our diets. You see, during the middle ages when the plow hadnt been invented there was very, very little protien in the diets of humans. However, because of the deep plow man was able to begin planting beans, which must be planted deeper in soil. With the bean, there was a cheap way to get protien in mass amounts into the human diet. This, according to history professors, allowed man to begin a new age of development. Protien added to our phisical development and our mental development and that inturn created a chain of events that led to the current state of human development. (such as myself, an Irish kid who stands 5'10" which was unheard of at that point) So yes, the plow was very important to the development of society and human culture. I also would like to mention that I do not believe tech drove the warring ways of man, but on the contrary, man's warring ways drove tech development. Man always engaged in war, but with tech advancments we found better ways of going about war. The advancments of war devices have always been looked down upon. Did you know that the cross bow was official deemed as a sin to use upon its invention by the catholic church? I think one of the most important inventions besides the plow (during the middle ages) was the sturup. The sturup was almost as important as the plow. With the invention of the sturup people were now able to ride horses more efficiently. We were also able to ride larger horses which were priorly too difficult to ride and control. These larger horses we were now capable of riding led to man being able to load more on to the animal, hence, enabling the armored knights we so commonly think of. With the sturups invention, which was also just about the same time as the plow, we were able to do things never thought of before and this also added to the coming of a new age. I would also like to point out that the tech developments of the past are also not limited to the application of war. Take the hagia sophia for example. This was the largest building of its time and is still to date an extremly large building. This building was a marvel of architecture and feature the first dome which was symetrical to the size of the building. This would have created a perfect circle between the floor of the building and the roof of the dome. This also ushered in a new age of architecture, but this was built in 537, in constantinople. So this was quite a feat considering the fact that all building to that point all used a flat ceiling. Hence, the dome made a building of twice the normal size a possibility. This sort of tech advancments being played out in architecture was also seen in the abbey church of Saint Denis near paris france, created by the archetitect Suger. (pronounce "sue-jay") This building is the perfect example of what, we today call, a gothic church. Now you see, not all tech advances come from our desire to kill more effectivly. (just incase anyone wonders... every elective course I have taken since 8th grade all the way up to my current level of college edu. has been a history course of some sort.)

I think its based on what the ages of the subjects are. When your under 18, just like dues machina said, there is a major difference between just the littlest bit of years. But if your over 18, there is no problem going a bit further apart. Once your 21 its time, in my opinion to stick with people 18 and over atleast. Im 21 now and the last girl I dated was 23 turned 24 during the time we were dating. But before that I was with a girl that was only a year younger than me. Although, when I was younger, I barely went out with any girls because I didnt like the idea of being 17 or 18 and dating a girl 3 years younger. They were just too immature. Now, if I was approached by an 18 year old girl (3 year difference between her and I) I would have no problem with dating her. Its a thing of circumstances. Ages of subjects in this thread would help an awful lot.

Hey lady Mac (keeping in mind your patience with bad spellers) I know how you feel. My last name is "hoggatt." Not exactly an easy one for the faint of heart. Oddly everyone adds an r to it as if it was "hoggart" and they say it that way too. It gets really old, especially when your still in school or in my case... college, where the teachers still insist on calling role and can never manage it correctly. Luckily Ive moved to luoisiana and there is what they call "the irish channel" so there are a couple of other hoggatts down here. On a side note, I think Im going to change my name. I have the last name just mentioned, but thats my fathers last name. Sadly, he died when I was about 7. So carrying on his name was an obligation, but as of recently I learned that my mother was going to take her maiden name of doyle after her widowing. Since I am, in my opinion, more of a doyle than a hoggatt, I am thinking of changing my name to doyle. It fits more since I have orange facial hair and as my mom puts it, "a map of ireland on my face." I dont really think I will go through with it, but what do you guys think. Should I change it? kent alexander hoggatt kent alexander doyle
