I'll give you a little credit yes, and I do like your point in this last post, but straight up... you shouldn't be so quick to label the last few post as "genius." Not that they weren't good, but, genius? Im not on with that. Its not about how long you've been here, but at the otaku we've had numerous debates on issues like this very subject. *Ive just gone back and read over them again, and they are infact very good... Infact, your opinion is surely on the same page as many of us here at the otaku. Trust me, there are a few of us here who can tell the difference between the real world and the world of "should be's." good job bud, I like people who will put up reasonable opinions on subjects like these...(with that in mind) well done! However, I still have issues with people who will openly label themselves (during intellectual debate none the less) as "genius." (or their writing for that matter) Dont take it the wrong way buddy, just remember that people notice remarks like that, and often times do not like it. Hence, you get people gunning for you. Luckily we all haven't seen cloricus in this thread. YET!? But once you see his remarks, its more than likely you will understand how sincere I actually am about my respect for you opinion... till then... :D

Yeah, thats totally spam. Looking back at it, even I was on the list. Anyway, Im actually coming back to talk about the series and what we are gonna get to see. The first thing thats coming to mind is the dog fella and kagome being kidnapped. Thats obviously the first subject upon IY's return. Question is, what comes after that? I saw a new demon in the commercial. (along with old footage as well) So that means new demons (of course), but Im interested in another subject... Where is the series right now, currently, in Japan? Is the series over? How long term has this thing been going and where does the story stand in the most recent stuff?

Ahhhh I see there is a spark of debate upon us once more. I've been talking about this stuff alot lately at another board, and frankly, Im tired. It just takes so much energy to fight for my views. Its like I just can't get my points to be acknowledged, not accepted, just acknowledged. At this moment in time I would say we are all thinking about war again. With the UN being bombed, the world is now getting a small dose of reality. As first world, secular governments, all of our countries must recognize the fact that the radical islamic terrorist element exist in all areas of the world. Whether the Phillipenes, Chechnia, Saudi Ariba, Morraco, France, Britian, or yes... even Iraq. (sorry austraillia. didnt mention you guys) Right now the world needs to ban together in an honest and open prosecution of all terrorist of any kind. Shoot, the ELF is a terrorist group to me... I mean, what the he11 are those people thinking when they set fires in the name of enviromentalism? Basically, Im gonna leave this thread alone, but it's with good reason. I have just burnt myself out on politics as of lately. My bottom line on this subject is the same as any "reasonable" person. War is horrible, but at times, it must be done. Like a dentist visit or taking out the trash, its just gotta be done. But hey, atleast now there is a big slap in the face to the UN for standing against an American led war on terror. (a war that spans all areas and crosses all borders.) I mean, go read the circumstances of the UN bombing thread, I lay it out there and basically, I feel that the UN is screwing itself by ignoring an ideological war perpetrated by the radical muslim world.

Ok lea, this is an edit: I had an angered political reply posted, but now Im a little chilled out compared to before, and so... Sorry about that. I dis like war just as you do. :D cya
Originally posted by Harry They're doing it because they're fundamentalists, we can try to straighten all of this out after we crush them, but that won't be happening because the world thinks it's hip to let terrorists prance everywhere.
Hell fuckin yeah my man! :demon: That is what we need, but not just plain indiscrimnate killing or anything of that sort... What I think we need is the idea I mentioned earlier... Recognition of a threat. Once the world openly recognizes the true nature of these factions, we will be able to take a united stand against them. Unfortunatly, due to what you mentioned about it "being hip" to not confront these people, we will never see a true defeat for the jihad. I also wanna mention that the goal and drive of these terrorist is not as hidden or complex as people may believe. Infact, it is as obvious as the actions taken by the terrorist. Their stated goal is the destruction of the "western world." The ideology held sacred to these people is the hope that one day, all individuals will be united by the enlightenment of allah. Flat out, these people are trying to purify the earth of all non-believers. (Infadels..lol I love that word.) I also wanna mention that the last post above mine acknowledged the complete mess the UN has become... to that, I say well done. The UN is garbage, and just like any other pile of garbage, it needs to be taken out and cleaned. Who is willing to do that...? I dont know, but I can tell you now that America is a nation powerful enough to side step the garbage and deal with the real troubles of the world, without the help of a stinky trash can.
Originally posted by Orien_Xel Although the UN is becoming very bearucratic, and needlessly tangled, its the best thing we have so far for a world gov't. And yes, the two bombings were a coincidence. Tha's like saying "Well, this guy was murdered in this city, and another guy was murdered in another city. Must be the same group/guy"
Ok, first off, everyone, no more world gov talk. Just keep it together. I hate closures. Now for the qoute above... Basically, I disagree. I see a period of under 24 hours where 2 major bombings occur in the "same area" of the world. Think about this, hamas in Jerusalem and ansar al islam in Iraq. Ever since the "World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders" was established, the ranks of all militant muslims have worked for the same goal. (most of us understand that goal after 9/11) With one group showing its will to fight, another group siezed the day and took a stand as well. These people dont need to worry about formal relations. Each individual group of terrorist knows that even if they never heard of another "cell," they would still be waging jihad. We, as civil people, need to recognize the end goal of groups like al-queda and ansar al islam. Ignoring an international front against any establishment that does not live by extremist Islam is not a wise choice for anyone to make. There is a deep relationship between the terrorist throughout all of the Mid East. No relationships are needed, only a common goal and a common ideology. Thats just my view though... (oh yeah, world gov. is a bad idea)

On the subject of the Iraqi UN embassy bombing and The State of the UN in general... I have just now seen Kofi Annan, say that this bombing is a result of the US not properly taking care of security in Iraq. Yet, note the facts... The UN declined the offer from the pentagon to appropriate American troops for the security of the UN compound. -I believe in personal accountability and those ethics lead me to believe that: should the UN decline outside assistance with security, the UN should be held accountable for the security of the establishment/compound. (humanitarian aid facility in this case) This sort of situation puts me in the position to support a complete withdraw from the UN, while supporting a new selective, "nato-ish" organization based on humanitarian aid. The UN has become a bureaucracy over the last 50 years. (flat out) I would say the Korean War represents the end of an honest "humanitarian" organization and the beginning of an "emergency recovery group." One era represents the ideals of fighting for human rights against, literally! a criminal land grab, invasion of South Korea, by North Korean communist supported by China red him self. (lol, sorry bout the short names.) The other era only represents and International Organization that reacts to famine and genocide after the formal acknowledgment of such crimes or conditions. After the Korean War, an evenly balanced (if you could call it that) UN, military commitment towards the prevention of aggressive military campaigns was not recreated until 1991, during the first gulf war. (Which was initially an action to only contain Saddam himself.) Now... well the UN is just what we know... (I will let you decide the description there; ours my vary so I will spare you mine.) What do you think? Is Kofi Annan not fulfilling his obligations as a leader for the UN when he attempts to establish authority and a special envoy in Iraq? By the results Annan has produced, I say no. Military assistance from the UN was not offered during the removal of Saddam. (As the UN believed terrorist and the reasoning for war was not enough at that point) Then the UN declined security assistance after the conflict had subsided. These are two examples of mismanagement directly from the top levels of the UN. ... Please discuss if you wish, I might come back, but you never know... I don?t subscribe to threads. (and try to remember what this thread is about? stay on topic! ) I also wish to openly acknowledge a sorrow and respect for the victims of this murderous crime. Several were killed and many more injured. *There was also a hamas bombing in Jerusalem the same day of the UN bombing. (You decide if it?s a coincidence.)

spike, Its really awesome to see someone else into gt like myself. I got gt3 in january after having both of the other games. gt3 is a literally 99.0% complete and Ive also taken the racing to the next level with gt3 by going online... thats right, online. "sharkport" - makes saving memory card data on a pc possible. Therefore I can save other saves from other people, so what people do is... they use a game shark, put down all cars and 999,999,999 dollars, then do any sort of car track combinations. Then to actually race, just make the rules of conduct, and save your lap replay. Download the replay via sharkport to your pc, then post that replay on the net. I didnt know a thing about this practice till I started up on a gt board... 10,000+ members strong. Http://gtplanet.net/forums I thought I was fast when I first got there... lol, I was sad. The weekly challenge this week in the olr forum (online racing) is a gt one race car (toyota) fully modified at 1350hp. Then race in arcade mode, free lap, complex string, and keep 2 wheels on the track at all times. If you do it hit me with your time... :D btw, gt4 will most likely bring back racing mods for some cars, but as the game informer interviews mentioned... more space for racing mods means less space for more cars. again, btw, ... with my shark port, I have a porsche gt3 911 (996) that is labeled and different from the "ruf." I also have a lamborgini "nomad race car" that is awesome. Both are availble using programs for the pc, to unlock hidden programing in the game. ... long story with legal dealings at polyphony. You can also make hybrid cars using one program... hybrids = any hp, any car body on any car frame, anything and everything... but uh yeah, lookin forward to gt4 that I am.

If your looking for my opinion... The final episode made me sad. Anything with love and women just breaks me down like some kind of little girl. I guess Im a big wussy inside, but my life has had way too many experiences in the love life area to not be an emotional "little girl." (no offense or insults were meant to be directed at any of the younger women here at the otaku.) btw, will inu yasha be coming back now that flcl is over?
-
Holy crap? Thats it, I just watched the last episode? I cant believe it. Man, I actually got to see the ep tonight only because I had the night off work, and this is what I get - word that its over... wtf?! I gotta say, the show is really cool in terms of charactor design I just love the relationship between the boy and his older girl friend. This only leaves one question in my mind... How is cn gonna deal with only having a few episodes to air... I mean, they cleared a spot on adult swim just to show this, and now its over? btw, did you guys see cb is back on... how great is that? Im actually glad. (even with seeing all one million times!)

The Terminator/Politician (Arnold runs for Governor)
Kent replied to OtakuSennen's topic in General Discussion
Well, I've seen footage of arnold when he first got here... he was talking about why he didnt vote democrate in his first election - "I came here and the democratic party was saying the same things the socialist party in austria said." (This is pointed out to show that the t800 is a person who has paid attention to politics since he was my age.) Regardless of that, I think this election will prove to be one thing... A chance for moderate people to take california back from special intrest groups and politicians. If a democrate from cali. is elected based on a partisan voter base, and a moderate with californias best intrest in mind is ignored based on his/her own political affiliations- california is in for more of the same... energy problems, special intrest groups reshaping the state (state and national parks are always of intrest to terrorist groups like the e.l.f.) and of course, we cant ignore the obvious pull of special intrest in the courts. (regional 9th circuit anyone!?) (not to mention the intrest groups ruining mtn. bikers lives in the marin area- another example of special intrest :D ) Basically, if cali. doesnt elect a moderate with the average person's intrest in mind, the state is gonna be in for more of the same. (the same being special intrest, energy crisis, and a percieved seperation from the nation on a cultural level, which has alienated some... "I pledge allegance..." -you get the point right.) Good luck cali. If arnold doesnt win, I hope some sort of moderate republican can take the masses of moderates in the north back to the polls and manage a win for the sake of cali's better good. Of course, what do I know  -
Well Im glad to see there are atleast a few of us who love the gt series. Right now Im involved in some major racing over at www.gtplanet.net/forum/index and that place is great. Gt4 does look to be the best of the group to date, and I would have to support ????? on the statment about the tracks... it probably is a bit of a mis-representation by saying 50 tracks, when half of them are the same tracks only in reverse. Who exactly knows whats in store for us with this game...? no one at the moment besides poly phony, but for the time being, speculation is enough to keep my intrest.

I caught this last night on adult swim. It was a nice suprise. I didnt know funi and cn were going to be working on this title, but Im glad they are. I love the mech designs and the monsters weren't half bad either. In all, Im looking forward to a season (or a few eps atleast) of "bg" and its gonna be a great little ride based on my pre adult swim bg experience. I give this show a big thumbs up...

I played tm2 till the sun came up when I first got a playstation... it came in a bundle with the system and I loved it. Havent played any for the next gen consoles, but with this in mind, I just might go check it out. Thanks for the reminder... twisted metal was a great series.

When I was about 14, just getting into anime (Im 22 now), I rented a flick called... "urutkusukidoji: return of the overfiend" I had no clue. Its filled with vile content. Hentai, hentai, hentai, Rape, violence and all sorts of immoral, unethical content. Its labeled, not for children, I should have taken that advice. Let me tell you all, never watch any of those unless you love the hentai stuff. So yeah, that was an anime that disturbed me. Not the kind of disturb like a good emotional drama, oh no, Im talking real disturbance in your mind... things you forget when your lucky.

James and cloricus. They have showed me the true nature of "polar opposites." James, I need not talk about what you have experienced with me. (in my mind we had and have a great connection) Cloricus, well, I guess you put in stone what so many others have expressed before. ("terrorist in chief," oh god, what to say.) I will leave it alone in honor of that old saying, "if you dont have anything nice to say..." But basically, you all have seen what I had to say about james... figure out the opposite and you have _______. Both of you have shown the exact opposites of everything. One with reason and logic, moderation and wisdom. The other with... well, I guess I should leave it with what james had done. I hope to see you all influence me somehow, the boards have been and will continue to be a great part of my life. I only wish that we could all meet one day so I could show you ALL who I really am. I also want to give an honorable mention to lady mac. She is a beautiful, amazing, intelligent, capable and brave woman. She has shown me that girls are not as shallow as I believed and that everyone has some way to connect to his/her fellow man. Lady M, you are a gift to us all... god bless. Oh yeah, cant forget justin, I came here and he was cool as hell, but after one IM about what a bad "christian" I was, I lost ALL respect. Sorry dude, but that message was just plain rude. I also wanna mention some of my other people... Bobby, who never comes here, got me started and introduced me to the otaku. Thanks bro. Domon, you've been in contact with me for a long while and its good to have you around. Several other people have made an important and honest impact on me, but at the drunken and sloppy moment, they will all (sadly) fad into a dull and diluted memory of otaku wisdom. You have all helped in some way or another, Thank you. _______ edit: James, It seems alot of people have mentioned you. It makes me wonder if anyone mentioned me...:therock:

Ive got a great one for you guys... I work in a resturant and one night my kitchen manager asked if I knew anything about gas, like natural gas. I said, "yeah, it burns." He said, ok, well we have a leak, could you keep an eye on this (points at pipe) and try to see if you can spot the leak. I was like, sure. (*we're all gonna die) Then as Im concentrating, on the other side of the line (the line is where all the cooking goes down.) the owner is asking, "anything?! anything?!, do you see anything yet"? I said no and waited. Then out of the blue an incredible flood of white gas comes pouring up into my area, all over the place, it was horrible. I freaked out on the inside but played it cool. I ran across the kitchen and started watching the people around flee. Then I noticed the laughter... The owner on the other side of the line opened up an enourmus container of co2 (used to carbonate sodas) and let it fly off in my direction. It freaked me out, being that the resturant was sure to blow up with the amount of gas I saw. But then it turned out to be a big joke and it was only co2. I laughed my tail off after my heart stopped beating a million miles per hour. It was a great joke and Ive loved the idea since. However, any practical joke that involves any sort of pain for anyone is not cool in my book. So thats it... thats my practical joke story.

"call me" Ever since I heard it I had to know more about it. Its so sad to me for some reason, I just wanna cry when I hear it. (as with just about anything with cowboy bebop.)

I know aeon flux. Personally, I didnt really like it, but in that your problem may be resolved... Aeon was on mtv. I dont know about the rest of you guys, but to me, mtv represents a population of "kids" that I dont identify with at all. That said, it could be possible to assume that the people who regularly watch mtv are not the same people who are "otakus." With all that in mind, I would assume that aeon flux died off after only 1 or 2 seasons, as the people it was marketed to were not the kind to like a futuristic, sci-fi cartoon. Im sorry about that if your dad was looking forward to more eps or airings from aeon, but I dont think its gonna happen. Good luck.

I will personally break it down a bit more specific for my favs. First off is gran turismo 3 (soon to be replaced by gt4) This is the best driving/racing game ever on a next gen platform. Then from there its a thing of game type. rpg, dont know any, but Im looking into 2 that are coming soon. "star ocean: till the ends of time" and "ffx-2" looks fun, should be an intresting one. Then there are the flight sims- ace combat 4 takes this one all the way. By far ace 4 is the best flight game ever. Rouge squadron was the only thing to come close to ace 4. Action games... I couldn't really say. There are so many great games out there. I would say "gundam:federation vs zeon" is an excellent game for gundam fans or not. Other great action titles would have to include socom, metal gear solid (ps1) and of course the onimusha titles. Resident evil titles are worthy as well as the armored core titles. (for a mech junkie like me atleast) Then there are the other games like fighters and puzzle. Fighters, I couldnt really say, Im looking forward to doa online as well as virtual fighter evolution. In the end, my fav is always one of the gt series. Then its off to the other games and a matter of who will take second. I know I didnt mention tons of great games, but sometimes you just dont have time to type forever. (cough gta cough)

Well its been announced for some time now and it will be here in the 2004 spring release season. GT4 that is. In terms of what this new game will bring... For starters. A new physics engine. (more realistic and controlable gameplay) 50 tracks (many of which are real world tracks) 500 cars ('nuff said :D ) (including most if not all cars from gt2 & gt3, as well as all the classics and some new ones) Most importantly to me... Online racing. Thats right, now with your network adapter, we can all play together online with the greatest racer ever- gt4. To mention some of the more subtle points about this game... Real world testing was done with several cars on several real world tracks... the end results... The average laps of a Mazda rx-8 at laguna seca in game vs pro race car driver's avg. time in real life... .4 seconds This split was carried over with a vw lupo at laguna and a s2000 at the tsukuba racing circuit. What the developers at polyphony did was break the game into teams of designers... cars/tracks. Each square foot of any real world tracks are mentioned and accounted for. Each car has between 4000 and 5000 polygon renderings. To acheive such accuracy the team went about things differently. No intrest groups testing the game, no feedback consideration on how it played, etc. Instead they waited to do those things until after the product was made. What they did do, was account for the angles, slopes, length and width of each track. Then they accounted for dimensions of the cars, wieght, hieght, power, etc. in combonation with wind, inertia and gravity. These factors all laid into a formula, then applied to the game, ended with a racing sim closer to life than anything ever before. This game looks to be the greatest racer ever and will be the very next game I get. Its also gonna show us just how far the 120 gig processor on the ps2 can be pushed. For me, this is the game that will ruin my life like everquest did for so many others. Now its just time to wait and see what polyphony will do next. (just think  microsoft with their 600 gig processors, and polyphony doing gt5  ) Until then...:drunk: , Im gonna be in a state of euphoria playing gt4. Dont worry though... I'll still have time for the boards... Btw, what do you guys think of gt4?
-
I wondered if any of you guys could help me answer this question... I dont know of any light haired, blue eyed, bearded white guys in any anime. If you can think of any, please help me... it would be great for an avatar. Also, if it helps I can post a picture, but I woulnt was my time with that till someone mentions anything. Thanks for the help...

I have neglected to wiegh in on this for too long now. Martial arts is awesome and I very much love the study of these arts as well as the philosophies behind them. I think my opinion can best be sum'd up by Lee. An underlying concept of his martial arts philosopy (imo) was the idea of being able to exploit your own advantages. (I dont know if he ever said that idea exactly, so dont get upset if this is a mistake. :D ) This would mean to me, that you should adapt your practices of fighting to strengthen your faults, and take advantage of your unique, individual abilities. In other words... The way of the intercepting fist would be perfect for the small quick fellow who can strike before his opponent, but a large man would be better off striking in a different fashion.
