  1. i think nintendo is walking a fine line, but its one i like. its almost like the dreamcast. come out with a consoul and go fully to the limits of capability without a consoul in mind to replace it with in 8 years. but i also think nintendo woulnt fall apart, the game cube can go beyond a ps2 easily and keep with an xbox in prossecing capabilitys; so it doesnt need replacing any time soon. nintendos' only problem in my opinion (as towards why i dont want to buy) is the game situation. for now they dont have too many that intrest me. only mario maybe zelda, metriod and a few others. in a couple of years i may get a 64 and luckily the pres. of nintendo obviously wants the gamecube to be there for me. i also wanna add that nintendo games are truely the best for game play when they hit the right cord. im still right now at this moment trying to play and beat mario world 64.
  2. i think the reason i fear death, is not my own reason, but the loss of my relationship to my mother and brother. seperation from them is my fear of death. not what comes next. i can only have faith in my own beliefs of an after life. ww3 i dont think will happen. if india and pakistan go crazy... lets just hope not. and i want to say the u.s.a. wasnt trying to prove anything in vietnam. i honestly believe the president Lydon b. johnson (D) was making a defesive action for the southren half of vietnam. i know that at least the montin-yard (sp?, the word is french for mountian man) troops were happy to have the u.s. defending human rights against the natural oppression of communism.after the war over 30,000 of the tribes man living in the mountains were slaughtered when the u.s. left. i dont want to say the u.s. fought that war in the best manner possible; i just want to say, hate the polititions and not the soldiers. soldiers are normal people and the polititions that run the bureaucracy are another. if you can find a thread i started a few weeks or maybe even months ago, i wrote about lbj and his involvment in the esscolation of the vietnam conflict. maybe one day i will know enough to talk about pakistan and india the same way. ive been learning alot because of the "war on terror". personally i find the pakistanies to be a group that are hard to control. from what i can tell, not even all of pakistan is under musharifs' control. the pashtun area in the north east is a haven for anyone that wants to walk around with a kalashnakof rifle. i think we will find out that pakistan is the aggressing nation. but, i want to point out that the indian hindu control, is that of a minority in the kashmir area. over 70% of kashmirien (can i even say that) people are muslim. i think this will be able to end with out ww3. muslim extremist... i think that is another problem; but oddly, one in the same.
  3. i just want to blow my big gas guzzling capitalist democratic american horn. we beat portugal and most americans just go ha, because it only mattered to the people who play the game. we're happy for our boys that won. but we're even happy to smite europeans. jk, but it is cool.
  4. im just amazed at this topics life. its moved all over and i have been intrested the whole time. possible nuclear winter... i think that it is possible; that said, i want to say i most likely will not happen. hopefully. in the above i accepted the possibility of the worst; so i will also look at possible out come in that chain of events. going beyond the initial effects i will think about the winter to follow. i believe we could survive it. we are intelligent, so we've got that going. we will take major population loss; up to 2/3. revert to more primitive culture. most likely migrations will occur by all surviving animals and mamals. we also for that matter, are warm blooded allowing self regulating temp, unlike dinos. and most of all, we've made it once before. though that comment holds less weight then i would like; because i know the humans to endure the ice age were very different from modern man. id also like to say that religion, to me, is something so deep, i almost cant comment. is there a thread on beliefs? _________________________________________ i couldnt resist but come back. maybe i did mis out on some cause i noticed the big bang come up. off subject a bit, i know, i just had to mention this. this is all theory, and i want yours. discovery channel. does the rest of the world get that channel? i watched a show that ended up discussing the bang and of all things i was appualled that they actually said the start, just before the bang, there was pure engery that turned into matter and created an explosion. the rest of it sounded cool, it was just the begining. energy? i cant think of a more unscientific way to explain what caused the explosion. of course, that is unless you want to try and prove the exiestence of god. Now that would be some good stuff to start an independent council investigation of god. sorry to come back and edit like this. "just had to"
  5. hey its cool i dont agree being that the depictions of the devil i think of are the ones from old and new testement, but icuold see where ur coming from. john milton didnt write paridise lost till something like 1640 so... i guess. i just think of the devil from the bible. and i think of how, by the 1500s everything in christianity went hay wire, but really what i wonder is if you really read all this stuff you tell me to. i spend time studing and reading out of personal interest, but i wonder what your story is (clorius) in fact would you should elabrate more on this idea of the 15th cetury being the redefining year for the devil.
  6. i personally loved trunks knocking his jaw out of wack in the recent world tournament. hercule still is cool though; as much as i hate him.
  7. yes indeed raven is a good person for allowing this to continue on. i never said anything but good stuff. but i did want to bring up the point that the devil concept was in existance before the 15th century. he is in the new testament and i know that was written before the 10th century. infact it was written before the calapse of rome. just something to think about.

im a newbie to formal training and i think i know alittle. maybe one day i will get formal training but for now, i live in louisiana and this is just one hick state and i dont want to take some american karate from a redneck. id rather do it on my own and hope for the best.
  9. i just want to say thanks to raven tourture because he seems to be cool with seeing myself and others go on and on about the same stuff in his thread. with out getting angry, and without personal opinion swaying his views. also id like to say that ive read all the above and im just not sure about gm. did anyone ever see that horrid movie gatica. gm not a natural step and im a natural type of guy. i would say no matter what the benefit it probally isnt worth the cost. but thats just to me. i dont have diabeties (sp?) or any other kind of dehabilitation. so that could keep me from seeing a benefit that would directly change my life. i want everyone to have a good life and with that in mind, i say, let them have gm, just keep it away from me. unless its natural. i also want to say im not trying to spam and i thought i was keeping a good debate alive not just argueing. sorry and thanks for you patience.
  10. usually in times like such i try and phisically do stuff; exerise helps me alot. i also have noticed that my art inturn goes in strides where one week i will be on top of my game and then a week later its all rubish. i think that just having the exerise probally releases chemicals in my brain. endorphines or something and then i just feel better in general. as for a blind date. good luck, and if you need advice, theres always be your self.
  11. clorious. i just want to get one thing straight. most i what i said is true. i personally think that if you had really found me wrong, you would have taken much pleasure in proving so. instead you just say ... your wrong.... and thats it. its like a debate where someone is backed into a corner and says im against this, and when asked why, they just say... because... come up with some facts about what you and i were talking about... not gm. then if you want to continue... by all means go on. i formally have not thoughts on g.m.
  12. austraillian new zealand amry corps. believe it or not, the commanding officer had the chance to "let the troops live" by not going on with the invasion by the anzac forces. but, the c.o. wanted to have something nice for his superiors. the movie gallipoli is very accurate. two disrepencies, 1, the officer they make out to be a brit, was actually an australlian. 2, there was a forth charge they dont show. its said that at the end of that charge there were bodies stacked a meter high. i salute the anzacs and any other solider that died in battle. in america we have a day called memorial day for that.

these days kendo is very much just a sport. but, at on a new point of view, it could have been something you spent every day doing all within another code that binds you to another mans war; you'd want to be the best in that game. if your intrest be sport or possible defense its still a very good "style" to know. of course it is kinda based around a sword or even stick, so its not one that i would suggest for the "newbie" to just try and pick up on. i am a newbie. i by no means know any of the above. only my own little world of appreciation for the martial arts. side note: tae kwon do is now just about what i would call a tournament style fighting form; room for improvanization (sp?) still exist though.
  14. first off, i never attacked or insulted you, so just chill. second, i do listen and give other views a try, but im not in this for opinion on what people think, so i can change the facts i know. most of this stuff boils down to facts. i perfer to speak from facts. third, communism is a nice thought. but, its only a thought. communism in practice is just plain pooey. if you can site one example of communism supportting a nation and helping it to blossom to new levels of human rights and economic development, i will say that not only is it good in theory, its good in practice. im not talking about some semi-socialist country, we're talking full blown communism. do the research everyone is talking about and you will learn that communism goes against everything in human nature. i also want to mention there is a difference between communism and socialism. in closing i want to tell you to just lay off. im not trying to be a jerk. im just trying to let you hear my side, and i dont try to tell my opinion to often (especially in this thread) i just tell people the facts so we can all be on the same page. i have spoken opinion on the boards. i will continue to opine. i also will admit to error if im wrong, hence... i shouldnt have said this thread was solely on the topic of the "war on terror". what is the topic? _______________________ i wrote all the above and then spoke with some interesting people. upon my return i had a slight change in heart about history. i realized that even with in fact there are areas of history none of us know. this would allow for several differing views, all of which can not be denied, or a result from point of view (being your side). i guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. i enjoy hearing them and discussing them. sorry for any trouble.
  15. i like that yajirobe, hes way cooler than he gets credit for. and in the recent stuff, hes rockin a go-tee; homeboy is smooth.
  16. i just tried my own spelling on a name im sure we all know. fist of the north star. i want to know if showtime beyond is ever going to finish up the series? or does anyone else show it? if you like this show and it ends up being a subject that people dont bring up too often, i suggest we use this as the universal north star thread. if need be i can work on the title spelling.

yes to most of the above. its odd, i dont know the literal meaning of akido, but i do know that jeet kun do is a "style" bruce lee came up with based on the idea of having no "style" its very possible that akido may literally translate to no form or something... i dont know any languages besides english. also, kendo is the art of the sword. i dont know the literal translation. but i know its the martial art that is what a samurai would have practiced. there are 8 specific spots to hit as targets and 3 stances. its considered by some to be one of the hardest to master.
  18. sorry bud, but thats not how you prove a point. i also want to say that your right in just one way. i dont know everything; in fact im not too keen on political science and history. i do however know enough to know you've just resorted to insult and im still lecturring. if i see that you change you above post by means of edit i will take another look at your argument.
  19. great minds come up with their own stuff. this is a thread about the war in afghanistan and against "terrorism" i also find that you misinterpret my saying he didnt want a "perfect society"; i am speaking from a third party perspective involving right and wrong. not a skewd view from with in a deranged idea of what a perfect society is. if i was to take hitlers side and view, then that could be an aim for a perfect society. he just wanted death, genoside and a prosperous germany. even with his alleged "perfect society" view he didnt stick to his own principles; making treaties and alliances with "sub-human" races such as the japanese. in closing i want to say that i meant no insult in this.
  20. sorry but they wouldnt have the sense not to go across that field with the sword. they didnt then and they wouldnt now. unfortunatly, there are some things that must be done. when war is a thing that doesnt have to be done, the world will be at peace; and we woulnt have people dying everyday just because human rights arent being protected. unfortunatly, pakistan and india are fighting out of selfish religous reasons and not over a dispute that has a right and wrong.
  21. hitler didnt want a perfect society. he wanted the destruction of the jewish race. he wanted death and dispare. he wanted you and i to die. of course, that is unless your one of his master race and a native to germany. dont forget, he wanted plenty of whites or ariyans dead; anyone of them that wasnt on his side. hitler was evil.

its actually very interesting. ive heard a quote. since i dont know it perfectly it will be a general comment. fighting _____ is like fighting an empty jacket. the "_____" is supposed to be the name of the man that invented judo. i dont know his name. but the qoute represents the true essence of judo. maximum effiecentcy for minimal effort. for every aggresive manuver there is a complete reverse. it actually plays into the laws of phyisics, for ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction. this is also a common concept in martial arts. the yin and the yang.

piro, what i said isnt wrong nessicarily. i know what your saying about judo, but if you look into it youll find out that the grapples in judo are better for those with weak joints and little self control because you do grapples that are based around throwing the other person with their wieght. where as ju jitsu is based around taking, lets say an arm, and bending it in the wrong direction. now do you think that i little kid is gonna be as good about not over doing that move and stopping when he should. compared to judo where you end up on the ground, tumbled and tired, but not with an inverted elbow. read some more and youll find im right.

    akira

yes i also feel that akira is one of the best. but it is not for newbie anime fans. infact, the more i think of it, the more i realize that someone who rented and just watched it once or something like that, could never get the true emotion of the film, none the less the plot. (run on sentence)

im 5' 10" 210 lbs. lets just say i dont look limber. but i stretched everyday when i was watching dbz and now i can always put my palms flat on the ground with my knees locked. i would also like to say there are really tons of different styles to learn. each one can favor a certain type of person. like judo is good for people with bad joints or children because it doesnt use grapples like other forms such as ju jitsu. like wise, tae kwan do favors those that are limber and able to kick more easily compared to akido, which favors heavier people that can put a little weight into a throw or something. look around and take you time, if you live in america its hard to get the real thing. learn what you can about the facts, then go find a teacher for the style that fits you. if you just want self defense for idiots, there are picture books by people exploiting bruce lee that show mr. lee doing all kinds of defensive situations. their little paper backs called bruce lees fighting method. there are a couple of subjects and each are very simple and applicable. just hope you never have to use it.
