First anime I ever watched, and i watched it like 7 times:animeswea awsome movie though hayao miyazaki makes great movies.

Lucky star is just pure awsome. its so damn funny and is one of those shows which makes me laugh the whole way through the series. the characters are all great and designed well with thier own unique personalities. I especially liked konata for obvious reasons:animesmil shes so damn funny and her being an otaku makes it even better since viewers can relate to her otaku behaviour. overall i would say lucky star is an awsome and funny series but some jokes are for hardcore otaku's and i would recommend it for someone looking for a laugh

i've seen the series end of evangelion and rebuild of eva (you are not alone) and they were all very good. end of evangelion though is a bit hard to follow at most points in the film. all in all though neon genesis evangelion is one hell of a good show.

Anime Why Do People Love Anime So Much?
necrojesta replied to NightAlchemist's topic in Otaku Central
well in my case its like this: people listen to music, play sports, watch movies and etc. and otaku's watch anime to pass the time and escape from reality in their hobby. and theirs nothing wrong with it. also anime is different from the usual cartoons you see and its unique which is a draw in with its cool art style etc. -
subs in my opinion are better but thats just me, I just like the original voices and I dont like most american voice actors.

I get told all the time by my apparent school friends that im some sort of wierd freak for watching it but I don't really mind, i know that most people think of anime as a cartoon but as long as it means something more to me and other otaku's i don't mind. I'm going to a convention soon and it will be the first time i've ever met other otaku's in person actually. Maybe I am what people thing we are but i'm not bothered.

hellsing was a great show and one of the very few shows where i watched the dub. i found the series quite interesting to watch and i quite enjoyed the vampire theme in it but unfortunately it was a while ago when i watched it so i can't remember much of it so i can't say too much.:animedepr

Evangelion is just amazing and definately my favourite "old school" anime series and might be my only favourite "old school" anime since they usually dont appeal to me unfortunately.:animecry:

Fillers are the reason why my rule is not to watch a series that is over 55 episodes. thats because the story always drags on too long and is full of pointless filler that contribute nothing to the plot but are just there too spread the series out EVEN longer and its such a pain in the *** if your like me and you like a good story.

My taste changes often so at the moment im looking at lolicon galleries most of the time right now but i used to like seifuku shojo. after discovering lolicon unfortunately now im completely addicted:animesmil lolicon isn't a bad thing either people!

this anime is just pure BAD. i've tried to watch it multiple times and in the end i managed until episode 53 but its just so boring and also predictable. although the art isn't too bad though and character designs are nice there aren't enough good points to compare to bad points so i refuse to watch this.

I just watched the first episode yesterday (as i'm writing this). it looks kind of like a school comedy/ romance type thing but with an emotional twist and so far is looking very interesting can't wait to see the rest!;)

Anime What are You Watching/Reading Now?
necrojesta replied to 2010DigitalBoy's topic in Otaku Central
I am currently watching clannad and them im going to move onto clannad after story then black lagoon. I am reading the Deathnote manga because I got the collection for christmas and soon im getting welcome to the NHK volume 1 (welcome to the NHK anime was good).:animesmil -
5 centimetres per seconds is AMAZING. The story is so sad and touching and the animation is brilliant which adds to the emotion of the movie. One thing that im not too fond of is the eyes, I just wish he improved them and then i wouldn't have to be so picky. There is the fact that i probably picked out the eyes is probably because the film is so perfect that i needed something to criticize. I downloaded the to my MP4 so now i can watch it anytime I wan't which is really great :animesmil. I also would DEFINATLEY recommend watching his other works although i haven't yet watched the place promised in our early days but i will definately watch it soon. voices of a distant star is a beautiful love story about two peoples distance as is 5 centimetres per second but with a sci-fi twist too it. and she and her cat is an around 5 minute long video about a cats owner from the cats perspective and is really touching. I think I kinda went a bit of topic there but oh well:animeswea

I WAS going to enter a cosplay contest but since i have no experience with cosplaying i'm going to go see one first to see what they are like. I dun wanna go up there not knowing what i'm doing.:animesmil

I was thinking about watching this series but in the end I didn't. I'm not really into samurai's or sword fights so it didn't draw me in and the ganster twist to it put me well off it sorry to say. although i can still say it looks pretty damn awsome.

I am really hoping this is good, i'm going to watch it after clannad and clannad after story. I've heard good things about it from otaku no podcast as well as here. I'm really looking forward to it.:animesmil

I have to say, Elfen lied is very good. Elfen lied has managed to balance fan service, over the top gore, and large amounts of nudity and added it all to an amazing storyline with great characters and good art. one thing is that if elfen lied took out either the nudity the gore or the fan service this show prbably would have gone completely wrong because it gives you stomach churning gore and a dramatic storyline but gives you fan service to balance things. ALSO the nudity isn't shown in a way to be sexy either in my view. this show has been a long time favourite for me. this is all my opinion BTW.

My parents don't hate me watching anime but while my mum is fairly open minded about it while keeping an eye on what im watching my dad doesn't show that he dislikes it and me watching it but im almost certain he hates it really. really my parents don't try and stop me watching it probably because their thinking "wait till' he grows out of it" but they don't know just how much of an otaku i really am. I must say though, ive got it really easy because although they dont approve they don't really stop me watching ANYTHING and i know for certain that they see the cookies filled with hentai this and hentai that lol.:animesmil

yagamai light in death note has one of the worlds smartest minds since he beat L, the greatest detective in the world (apparently) and although he still lost to near im sure he could win a battle of brains since he also has a death note.

1) Deathnote, I absolutley love death note, its an amazing concept with an amazing storyline, it has memorable characters with designs that suit their different personality, the artist is amazing he draws really well, animation is better than a lot of series, theirs a lot of suspense plot twists that keep you watching and character development is their too. also the soundtrack really suits the series. synopsis: Shinigami own notebooks called ?Death Notes? which are used as killing devices. Whoever?s name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds. Shinigami Ryuk dropped his Death Note in the human world where it?s found by honor high school student Light. With the death note actually having directions in it for its use, Light discovers he now has the power to discreetly kill people, and with this new power he plans to change the world in his ideal world by killing off criminals. Eventually the governments of the countries around the world notice the unusual amounts of deaths of their criminals, and figure out someone is behind them, but they have no way of discovering it themselves. That?s when they hire L, a master detective, to find out who is behind the murders. 2) Higurashi no naku koro ni, I first watched higurashi becuase of stepmania, I played the opening to it and really liked it so I looked around on the internet for it. I have to say, I was pulled in by mystery surrounding the series at first but then i saw the characters and how funny they all were with great personalities... but of course, i was a bit shocked to see what the series was like and it actually scared me at some bits but I just had to figure out the mystery of it. The storyline was extremely interesting for me so i kept on watching, the art is so-so my facial expressions were pretty amazing. the voices were epic eg. rena's USODA! and same for shion and mion's voice they were very well done and their voice actor is my favourite now, rika's voice was well played especially the darker/ maturer voice she had. in my opinion satoko's voice was no match for the other girls voices while keichii's voice was full of emotion and well played. The soundtrack was also very good with higurashi no naku koro ni as the opening sung by eiko shimamiya and why or why not as a calming song to end the series. and stepmania is a rhythm game if you don't know synopsis: Keiichi moves to a small town named Hinamizawa Village consisting of 2,000 people. His friend Rena is interested in the junk yard, and there, Keiichi finds out from a camera man that "something" happened there years ago. "They didn't end up finding the missing arm, huh..." Keiichi asks around about the Junk Yard and his friends tell him that it was an area for the construction of a dam, but it was unsuccessful. He then asked if anything disastrous, or weird happened then, his friends Rena and Mion immediately say nothing happened. He's yet to find out that a chain of deaths have been occurring each year around June. The same time the big fight happened around the construction of the dam. One person will die, and one person will disappear. Is this planned? a coincidence? ...or a curse? Sorry for going on so much LOL! sorry ill shorten the descriptions now becuase im talking too much! 3)welcome to the NHK, this was a very good series for me becuase it mixed the slice of life drama with great comedy and the fact they taught viewers about hikikomori, a social disorder made it a very interesting series.art was pretty good and animation was good but I dont really remember many or any in fact of the main characters names which is a disappointment. synopsis: Satou Tatsuhiro is a twenty-two years old man, who is a NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) and a hikikomori (meaning acute social withdrawal). He thinks everything around him is a conspiracy, including the reason why many people, including himself, become hikikomori. Satou comes up with this strange conspiracy theory which includes the Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai (NHK), a secret organization with the intention to make the world filled with hikikomori. Satou wants to break free from the NHK's clutches, but cannot, since he finds it too frightening to go outdoors by himself; that is until he meets Misaki Nakahara, who selects Satou for this "project" to cure him of his hikikomori ways. 4) Elfen lied, I really like this series, i first watched it on TV (the second episode) and i thought it was an ecchi show with a girl with amnesia who would sleep with the main character and their would be dirty stunts left right and centre. I was shocked to see great art and character designs, an amazing storyline with the odd bit of anime overkill eg. the start of the first episode with a perverted twist to kind of balance it out should i say. i would recommend this to anyone who can take a bit of gore and loves good storylines. synopsis: !(MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)! The Diclonius, a mutated homo sapien that is said to be selected by God and will eventually become the destruction of mankind, possesses two horns in their heads, and has a "sixth sense" which gives it telekinetic abilities. Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. Lucy, a young and psychotic Diclonius, manages to break free of her confines and brutally murder most of the guards in the laboratory, only to get shot in the head as she makes her escape. She survives and manages to drift along to a beach, where two teenagers named Kouta and Yuka discovers her. Having lost her memories, she was named after the only thing that she can now say, "Nyuu," and the two allow her to stay at Kouta's home. However, it appears that the evil "Lucy" is not dead just yet... 5) genshiken, this had to be up here really, its a great show which most otakus can relate to which helps the viewer get into the series. the art is good and it isn't a load of characters with pink, green or blue hair either, all the characters have normal looking eyes and mostly black hair with a few exceptions and i would strongly recommend this to any anime fan or otaku who wants some comedy, great characters and something to relate too. synopsis: Sasahara Kanji is a new college student, and he makes up his mind to join a circle to share his thoughts of "Manga, Anime, and Games", that has been hidden until he enters the college. Based on a popular 4-panel comic about the Japanese otaku lifestyle, this anime follows Sasahara Kanji as he dives face first into a world of anime, manga, video games, pornographic doujinshi, and the like. Creator, Kio Shimoku, pokes fun at every element of the otaku world, so sit back and enjoy the ride. This is an anime for hardcore fans, with very complicated references that will test your knowledge of all things otaku. IM DONE! phew....
