That's where shounen-ai comes in. Yaoi cannot be made without pornographic material because if it is roughly translated, it means hard-core boy/boy romance.
-
The Japanese words shounen-ai and yaoi mean two entirely different things. So, yes, I agree with this thread's title. I see no point in watching yaoi just for sexual pleasures.

Nope, no picture. Anyways, I don't know why people remind others of their age. I don't think it matters.

Art Random drawings of my own creation. (Updated often)
eleanor replied to OtakuSennen's topic in Creative Works
Right off, I will tell you the things you need to work on: arms, wrinkles/folds, and smoother shading. Your arms need work on because they don't seem very realistic. I know anime characters aren't meant to realistic since they're just cartoons, but they're based off of realistic bodies. All you really have to do is stare at people's arms whenever they don't notice you. If they notice you, you're on your own. ^_~ Lol, it worked for me. Again, to work on the wrinkles and folding, look at clothing and how it fits other people, or just try and copy a picture off of the internet. If you're anything like me, you can learn my staring at people in school. :toothy: The shading problem is one that can be solved easily. In your case, people can see the places where you switched the direction of your pencil and it never looks good. Just shade in one direction or make the direction changes very, very subtle. Other then that, there's nothing else I can complain about. ^_^ The picture itself is very cool, and there are good things about it. The character design, proportions [probably the most important thing an artist can learn], and the fact that you have a background [^_~] are all excellent things. -
Very, very cool! I love anime fan/original art, but it's nice to see something new for a change. I love your mosaics...I think they've been put together very nicely. ^_^ Keep up the good work!

All three of your banners seem to follow the same format, Sennen, with the picture at the extreme left side and your name in the bottom right-hand corner and CGed middle. Try messin' around with other stuff. ^_~ Anyways, I like the Asuka banner the best. I really like what you did with the red stuff in the middle. I really have no idea how people do that, lol. The avatar goes along with it nicely as well, so good job. ^_^ Anyways, the Shinji banner is a bit iffy, but it's good at the same time. Er...yeah. I personally never liked Rei that much but yer banner is still great. XD Hope to see more!

The Saint Beasts would probably be in several animes, I think. I guess it's a part of a Japanese religion. *shrugs*

XP Bleh. The manga is good enough. I don't think there should be any movie made out of Zelda, because the video games are good enough for me. There's no need to make a crappy version of Zelda that probably has nothing to do with the original plot and send it on to theatres where critics will flame it to death.

I'm planning on getting one of these, but I really don't know which one I should get. So I thought it would be best to just ask OBers. ^_^. So which one do you think is better: Gamecube or Gameboy Advance?
-
^_^ Ninja-Magus took the words outta my mouth. People often concentrate so much on the face, [eyes, mouth, hair, etc.] that they don't work nearly as much on the bodies. Yes...do work on them.

I really respect the man for his obvious talent, but I actually disliked Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I have no idea why. I just didn't feel with it, nor did I enjoy reading it. But I really enjoy Hamlet and Julius Caesar, probably because it wasn't focused around romance. :p

Eh...friends will come and go. Good friends will just stay. I've never really had a good friend in my whole life, so I don't think I can say anything....=_=. You'll just have to accept the fact that some friends don't care to be your friends anymore, and that there are more people that can be your friend.

Eh...the only thing I will say is that I belive that each and everyone of us has a violent tendency no matter what. Most of the time it's hidden away by morals and lessons we learn as we grow, but for some it's either too strong or they weren't taught about morals/lessons/etc. *shrugs* Everyone does have to power to murder someone out of pure lust for death or a cold heart. The will to survive is obviously the main point of cannibalism, whether it was the Donner Party or that football team who got stranded in the mountains of Chile. Many people would cringe or groan in disgust, but would you rather die than survive off of eating another? There are numerous times where animals will eat one of its own kind, but the difference between animals and humans is intelligence and conscience. When one is stripped of all morals and self-control when subjected to harsh conditions, we basically act like animals. We are mammals, one way or the other. There are always murderers who claim they killed one out of the fury and anger of what the victim did to them or a loved one, but like Mitch said, it's all about control. It's basically one major difference between animals and humans. If someone is strong enough to get through a hard period in life, then so be it. If someone is weak or mentall disabled, they will kill without seeing any wrong-doing or conscience. Then there are murderers who kill out of spite, which is probably caused by past experiences and/or mental problems. If anyone has ever watched the movie Seven, it's a good murder to discuss. I guess. =_=;; The movie is about a man who kills people who commit the Seven Deadly Sins [Envy, Sloth, Gluttony, Wrath, Pride, Lust, Greed] It seems he thinks he's doing something good; something that benefits God. The man most likely has a skewered view on reality and religion, taking some things to the extreme.

Originally posted by IloveBebop I've seen a picture with Sephi and Vincent (FF7) kissing. I found it weird and funny at the same time. Vincent/Sephi are most likely one of the weirdest yaoi couples, ever. If you want to find it, just search for Sephiroth in google images. About yaoi being pointless, some yaoi actually does have a point, but with what Soujirou said, that would be wrong, and not really yaoi. So, I guess most yaoi is made as it should be. I also agree that this thread is getting pointless. We keep saying the same things. It's going no where. Right now, I think that this thread should be closed.
....
I think Vincent is supposed to be Sephiroth's father in FFVII

It's just that J-Pop gets more attention because of the anime fans.

I don't really know much about many murderers, and the only one I really have extreme in-depth knowledge on is Lizzie Borden. [Social Studies fair] Anyways, she was possibly the stupidest and clumsiest famous murderer to ever commit a crime. Actually, all the criminals I know about were pretty stupid. There was this lady who poisoned 5 husbands and two of her grandchildren with arsenic and then gave herself away because the police took her romance magazine and she wanted it back. The only other famous murderers I know about are Jack the Ripper, Ed Gein [from the above post and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre], and uh...that's it. ^_^;;; The Ed Gein murder story didn't really disturb me as much as one would expect, because I once read about some Japanese cannibal who murdered an English woman, killed her, and had sexual intercourse with her after she completely died. He then proceeded to cut her open, eating her breasts, kissing her cut-off lips, describing her fat as 'corn syrup', masturbated while doing the whole thing, tried eating her anus after frying it, and other things I forgot about. ..... Weeell, I guess it's obvious that some murderers such as that Japanese man, Ed Gein, and that batty old lady are mentally disabled. *shrugs* The old lady, described as an extremely pretty young lady, was not allowed by her father to socialize with men at all. She was also an avid daydreamer about romances and relationships with men, but her father put a stop on all of that by endlessly giving them chores to do. So, when she grew up, she had an arranged marraige. She wasn't pleased with the man so she killed him with arsenic. After going through 4 other husbands that didn't 'please' her, she became overweight and quite frankly pretty ugly, so all she did was read romance novels and magazines. Maybe it was just her obsession with romance.

Gawd! Talk about uber-skinny. note: try to keep yourself from double-posting. Anyways, ....*stares at girl's skinny-ness* --that's the only problem I have with yourpictures, along with the slightly out-of-proportioned heads. ^_^ But I really love everything else. Keep drawing!

EEK! I love Yami no Matsuei! NO, I don't think Yami no Matsuei is a rip-off of Tokyo Babylon. And yeah, if the story was revolved around a het-couple, the show would probably be insanely popular. Or something along the lines... The artwork is really great, and the plot is very cool. ^_^ I think the whole series is 26 episodes or something...maybe I'm way off. O_o Anyways, I really enjoyed the series. Some of the parts are corny and stupid, but a lot of animes have those moments. I dunno...what exactly are you looking for?

Anime Cartoon Network Line-Ups...and anime on television announcements
eleanor replied to Syk3's topic in Otaku Central

Originally posted by Syk3 Well, I'm not sure if this would go here or not, but my brother was messing around with our Comcast 'On Demand' feature today, and he found the Anime Network that allowed you to play any anime out of a large list in different categories at any time, free of cost, and even lets you pause and rewind and such. I'm unaware if this is what they have been talking about all along when referring to the Anime Network (rather than it being an actual channel, and this On Demand is a step before it), but I felt that I needed to let you all know. :) To get it, you first must have Comcast Digital Cable with On Demand, and go to channel 001. Scroll down the list until you come to another page of listings, and in the top right corner you should see a link entitled The Cutting Edge. Go there, and then in the top right corner of that should be The Anime Network, and simply choose from there. I've been going absolutely crazy on this, heh, and have seen about 3 different anime episodes so far. And for the record, I live in Maryland, in case that matters. EDIT: I talked to my friend about it, and aparently he's known for a while. *shakes fist at him* Unfortunately, he says that if too many people use the On Demand feature at once, it goes down, and they switch the epsidoes every few weeks. But other than that, it still sounds promising to me. ^.~
*hails Syk, worhips, sings, dances, bows down, etc* THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! *takes deep breath* Very very thankful for those instructions, Syk3. I found the channel on my Comcast by going to the On Demand button and then choosing The Cutting Edge, etc. ^_^ Won't my mom be happy about this....:toothy: Now I must IM everyone and brag. PS. I live in Georgia, so maybe that's why the ways of getting it were slightly different. -
Neon Genesis Evangelion:
When Kaworu died. I love/hate that scene.
But other than that, I never really get emotional over animated series/movies. WELL, Grave of the Fireflies was a very moving movie for me, and I did cry. ^_~ It's very depressing. Cowboy Bebop: Contrary to the opinions of many fans,
I really thought the last scene of the last episode was great. Yes, I really liked the character of Spike, but I like death scenes. =_= [yesh, I know it's weird.] I just thought that scene was a killer one. I enjoyed it thouroughly.
PS: Welcome to OB. ^_^ It's nice to see someone...
who can type. You know.
*walks away before getting flamed*

Originally posted by OtakuSennen Actually, it seems whenever I like a song my peers all turn on me and my preference of music. This is mostly found with my passion for Japanese music. I am labeled a nerd and a geek with horrible taste in tunes because I listen to foreign music. J-pop and J-rock just appeal to me, I'm not entirely sure why, and what other people thing is of little or no importance to me. Also, it seems that whenever I like a popular American singer or group, they all suddenly die and fade away or their loyal fanbase crumbles for whatever reason. This situation is not frequent with me, though. The majority of American music does not appeal to me. It's not that I am embarassed to listen to J-pop and J-rock-- I take pride in it. It's just annoying that the masses frown upon my passion for Japan in general. That's as close as I get to being "embarassed" about music. If I listened to the Teletubbies theme song and rocked out to it, that would be an embarassing guilty pleasure on my part. But that is far from what I listen to.
:toothy: I have an excuse since I'm Korean. ^_^ [although I do listen to K-pop/rock a lot] Most Americans can't tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese, and Korean anyway.

They are all great drawings. I love grayscale, so that gave it a giant +. ^_^ I have a few problems with the drawings, but it's just your drawing style. Very nice job...keep up the good work!

KP Duty and Coming Clean by Animom are, in my opinion, great fanfictions. They're Yugioh fanfictions, focusing not mainly around shounen-ai pairings, but Seto Kaiba. Before all the anti-yaoi-ists come in a flame me to death, I will say that YES I was a fan of Yugioh shounen-ai. Mostly my obsession with Kaiba, but whatever. Those two fics are absolutely wonderful stories. The author has a very distinct writing style, almost poetic in a sense. Yugioh shounen-ai fan or not, you guys should read it. Like I said, it's more focused around developing and discovering Seto Kaiba's self, and I'm in love with it. Stygian Solace by Uzumaki-sama is also a well-written shounen-ai fiction, centering around the Riku/Sora pairing. I don't even like that pairing, but I like the story. I guess that says a lot. When I'm Gone by Jen0va99. Focusing around Sephiroth/Cloud and Riku/Sora. Nicely done, just a all-round good fanfiction to read. Faith by Dragongirl16 is a fanfiction about Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. I know this pairing has absolutely no proof, but it grows on you. The ficiton is about the trials Harry faces when his friends betray him, and how he forms a relationship with Malfoy. Sounds corny, but it's actually a good story. Fusion by Knowing Shadows. It's a Sephiroth/Cloud fic taking place in the FFVII world. Lord knows how hard it is for me find a good Sephiroth/Cloud fic, not to mention Cloud and Zack. ^_~ Anyways, it's a great story. Asides by Jen0va99: nice story with a setting of pre-game FVII. Just talks about the all but strange triangle relationship between Cloud, Zack, and Sephiroth. Pianoforte by Alleyprowler. Not exactly the best Gundam Wing fanficiton out there, but one of my favorites. ^_~ Centers around Trowa/Quatre and small bits of 1+2 This is off-topic, but everybody MUST read the works of Random1377. [if you're a fan of Evangelion] He does not have a single shounen-ai fanfiction in his list of works, but his stories are compelling and extremely well-written. I think he's the best Evangelion fanfiction writer...ever.

When the hangover joke was cracked, my friend and I couldn't stop laughing and shut up because I had just been pretending I was having a hangover. But anyways, I enjoyed the movie. Gave me a strange reminder of Big Daddy. >_< It wasn't the best, wasn't bad, probably one of the better movies I've seen. [God, everything looks excellent next to a Live-action Sailor Moon movie]
