1.
Apparently Jason Earls from the hit show Hannah Montannah, is in fact not a teenager. ...he's like 30.
In contrast, I thought David Henrie from Wizards of Waverly Place was probably like 16 years old so I was pretty happy when I realized he was 19 and therefore I could crush on him without feeling weird.
 2.
That. The Monstrumologist is one of the most enjoyable books I've read in a while. Someone go read it. Right now. My ears are sore from these freaking headphones that grap onto my ears like a swimming cap does to a person's head...
I'll probably read this over winter break now, because I haven't read a fun non "literary" book for a while.
 3.
You're giving the internet a fair shot at influencing the future of a person about whom it knows very little. I don't think our survey skills are the item in need of consideration, here. :p
It's just a question of whether you think Scotland or England is cooler ;_; Ideally I wanted to study abroad in France or Italy but being an English major has severely limited the places I can go. meh
 4. I finished my article earlier than I expected. So obviously I stayed up for another hour watching Justin Bieber Youtube videos. Also everyone here is terrible at answering polls.
 5. Should I study abroad at Oxford or St. Andrews (Scotland)?
 6.
That's how it usually ends up for me. Which is why after I finish I transcribe to the computer; gives me time to actually implement the edits I made, and forces me to go back through as if I didn't know what was on the page. Also your banner is borked.
Lol when I first loaded the thread I was like "who posted a giant picture, goddamit" That's an interesting approach to handwriting, though. I might try it now.
 7.
Most anything that I write and am taking seriously is handwritten. It just feels better to me.
I feel like I could never do this, just because the way I write I'd be constantly crossing things out and half the paper would probably just be scribbles. However at work study I sometimes have to use a typewriter to copy things, and I love that so much. Punching the letters and hearing them imprint is really satisfying.
 8. 1. Go home 2. Cry over my GPA 3. Drown my sorrows in television and food 4. Study
 9. I 2nd Allamorph
 10.
Most people who "try" to write stories of that nature "fail miserably" because they can't balance "poignant subtlety" with an "actual message".
Also book titles are italicised in most printed material because underlining is impractical; I do both because on here doing one or the other looks retarded and doesn't communicate what I want it to.

OH, I thought you meant Norton Juster's story was an attempt at it. And I was about to kill you. :)
Actually, book titles are usually put in quotations marks by newspapers and magazines, although they are italicized in academic papers. And then MLA format dictates that students underline them...I think.

 11.
I read books. Not online magazines and stuff, but books. Books that are 7 inches thick. I actually still have the 5 inch thick bedtime story books I read when I was 3.
This is old-fashioned? i cry
 12.
The Phantom Tollbooth was such a great book. Kids take to the imagination part of it, and there is so much allegory in it that will fly over their heads until they get older. Perfect example of how to try to write pointed stories. Also I want to eat letters sometime. =P
What do you mean, "try"?
Also book titles are underlined, not italicized and underlined.

 13. I love "I Got It" by Gorilla Zoe lol
 14.
Yeah, because I'm asian, or else I wouldn't have the nerve to say that out loud. ;) Hey, your mom probably grew up in a world where her mother washed dishes by hand on muddy floors or in a river. lol, I know my mom did, so she thinks it's more practical. And I got to agree, I think it is, too. I always end up washing dishes before putting it into the machine because I don't think some of the stuff would come off. Ofcourse, I never used the dishwasher either until I got old enough to start noticing it gets pretty grody if you don't use it after a while. So, I make a point to try to remember to use it once a week.
Yeah my mom's family pretty much grew up during hard times so I definitely know that's just why we do certain things. I think this sort of thing also applies to immigrate families in general. Like my parents (and be extension, me) don't really pay attention to expiration dates and will pretty much eat anything if it doesn't smell or look bad. Also I rarely rarely ever go to the hospital, unless it's a emergency as in "I just broke my arm and blood is gushing from a head wound." Which I find shocks all my white friends. Like they were genuinely confused that I didn't have a family doctor or that I didn't go in for regular check-ups. Before I went to college and had to get shots my friend was seriously confounded by the fact that I didn't have a family doctor, and asked me how I got shots. lololol.
 15.
You must be asian. =)
lol I am! Is that an Asian thing? I never knew.
 16. On a random note, I don't understand why people opt to make their font small. Still waiting for my crash to come.
 17.
No you're not. In other, pertinent random thought news, audition results for the next semester of bands on our campus are up, and I am in the top ensemble. Ironically, this has now made my schedule more difficult. I now have a choice between stacking two classes in each others' time slot or taking a ninety-minute class at eight in the morning. Sigh.
On the note of school dominating everything, I just became an editor on my school newspaper and literally it takes over your life. And it pisses you off, because most of your time is spent editing lazy/bad writers' articles even though you have three tests to study for. Hence I've gotten four hours of sleep in the last two days. My hands were literally shaking as I took my English test, except strangely I'm not tired anymore. I expect to completely crash after I get out of work-study, though. TGIF.
 18.
I still rake leaves off our lawns despite my family owning a leaf blower. In the winter, we usually keep a kettle of water heated on the stove for making tea or cocoa instead of using the microwave.
Wait, people use microwaves to heat water regularly? WTF. I still though teapots and stuff were common. Also, IDK if this is "old-fashioned," but I pretty much refuse to eat microwave dinners...and microwave-cooked food in general. I just find it sketchy. lol And on another note, I hate leaf blowers. So obnoxious and unnecessary.
 19.
Granted, a metal-lined belt is a bit past the lines of discipline if you ask me, but I won't get into that here.
Yeah, that's sort of weird to me. I've only experienced wooden sicks/rulers.
People who say Lilo & Stitch was the last good Disney movie are making the tragic mistake of overlooking Treasure Planet. Hot damn that's an excellent film.
I secretly love Treasure Planet. My self-piteous, angry 12-year-old self loved Jim very much. Very, very much.
 20.
And Lunox, yes, they hate homosexuality, and my dad is a bible-thumper. It sucks. As for the violence thing, there was quite a bit of hurt involving a metal-lined belt, but that was purely discipline, sooo...
I grew up in a family/culture where hitting your kid for discipline is normal, so I understand why your parents do that. Just know that if you feel your parents are violent towards you in a way that is inappropriate and born out of personal bigotry, don't take it. I'm really glad that your counselor has taken the effort to help you out.
 21.
Yesterday morning, after demanding I stay home from school, she came into my room and showed it to me. She screamed at me for it and demanded to know why I told my guidance counselor and doctor before her. She wanted to know first so that she could shut me up before I told anyone else. I told her it was because she doesn't support it and would in turn not support me. She said, "That's right! Because it's perverted!" She said that she wouldn't tell my ultra-religious dad, but I had to when he got home. I argued over and over.
Have your parents ever made any homophobic or derisive remarks about gay/lesbian people? Or I mean, in general are they very religious? Have your parents ever treated you violently? I'm hoping for you that this is just a premature, temporary reaction from your mom that stems from... idk, shock, fear, anger. Tell us how everything goes.
So I'mma change the subject for two seconds so that I can proclaim my excitement for tonight. MAN, I'M EXCITED!
One of my friends actually made this and posted it on Facebook. (my group was Alice in Wonderland, I was the Cheshire cat) Ginny's mental regression, as shown by pictures, Halloween night: Normal: Sort of drunk: Pretty drunk: Really drunk: What is even going on:
 22. I never use the dish washing machine, just because my mom never used it so I just grew up hand washing/drying everything.
 23.
Hang on, lemme wrap my mind around this. You want to depend on getting crucial information in an intelligent, citizen-minded dissemination, from today's news sources? lol

:blulaugh:
Wow, pretentious much? I mean, god forbid that citizens don't have time to read through thousands of pages of primary sources to understand what's going on in the world. Yeah, really, darn Congress for not making their bill-making process easy for the common person to read/understand. And yes, please fire back at me about how ****** Fox news is and how CNN gets wrapped up in sensationalism. I believe it is perfectly fine for someone to form an opinion over political events by reading multiple sources they respect. Blast me if you want, but I like The Economist and the New York Times. I tend to agree with what their editorials say and how they present their information. So excuse me for scoffing over the fact that you're getting annoyed at Congress for making their bill too long. Maybe you should try sitting in there getting **** done sometime. And Aaryana, until you start getting all your news from primary sources, don't scorn news sources, or don't laugh at me for suggesting that people use news sources to inform themselves. The fact is, even if you could use all primary sources to inform yourself, you'd never do it due to time and resources. If you're going to dismiss all news sources as illegitimate, you might as well stop reading any article or newspaper.
 24.
It's Congress. Do you really think that if the summary was enough they would have spent the effort to construct ten gross of pages, and not saved themselves the trouble? I'm sorry, hun, but knowing the gist of the bill isn't enough when one's watching for a myriad ways someone can piggypack their own agenda onto it.
I'm not talking about a summary from the government, I'm talking about news sources. And if someone is really that intent about finding out piggybacking representatives, suck it up and read it.
 25.
From my anonymous friend on Facebook:
Good news: The Baucus Bill is online for public review. Bad news: One would have to read and comprehend 20 pages per hour for the entire 72-hour review period in order to get through this thing before the vote.
Thank you, Congress. Thank you. (For those who don't care to do the math, that is over one-thousand and four hundred pages.)
I mean really I don't think it'd be too hard to find a summary of it online.
