Anime Am I being selfish to not want my favorite anime licensed?
eleanor replied to Genkai's topic in Otaku Central
I think a lot of hard-core anime/manga fans think this, but you have to keep in mind that anime isn't just for a handful of people. I think anime is really a great thing, and other people should be able to experience it as well. Sure, you may be the the one that's read some before-hand, but it really doesn't matter. -
I was up until four or something last night and I'm sleepy, so bear with me. I think I'm just going to post the numbers. Joey 5/1o

I decided to make an art thread instead of making new threads every time I post some art. I'm just going to start off with my oldest pic saved on 250free, so enjoy. Well, there's already a Zelda manga, and the art is beautiful, it's one of my favorite mangas. I think it would be cool if Zelda was made into an anime since it would have a good plot and lots of action. ^_^

Just a thought...When you read a thread, what makes you reply or not reply? It makes me think a lot when I see about 70 views, and no replies.

Otaku Artists Elite. Chris already picked some people, but right now he's holding a contest and we're going to pick the top five winners.

Very nice work, as always. I love the way you draw and CG, it's so good! ^_^ I think you should enter the O.A.E contest.

That is a bad thing, when people tell you GW is hardcore yaoi. Personally, if someone said that to me, I wouldn't care. What's wrong with shounen-ai? It was all those fanfictions that drew me to the show, anyway. Oh, and in fanfiction stories, I've never seen an author try to force her ideas of a couple on readers. That's stupid. For example: FFVII stories. Cloud is usually set up with Tifa or Aerith, because it's evident in the game that they both love him. Yuffie, however, seems to take no interest in Cloud. So, does that mean when an author wirtes a Cloud/Yuffie story, they're trying to force their ideas on people? No. Does that mean there's something horribly wrong about the Cloud/Yuffie pairing? That's your own opinion. If you don't like the couple, don't read the story and don't look at the fanart. So when people put Cloud and Vincent together, ignore it if you don't like it. This is getting stupid. Why are you complaining about...links? Don't click on them! O_o;; That's like saying there's a fansite about Kenshin/Kaoru, and they give you a link to some fanart and fanfiction about that couple as well. Oh, yeah, that's horribly bad. And anyways, you KNOW if your at a yaoi-site of yaoi-fanfiction. Of all the shounen-ai sites I've gone to, I haven't seen a one that stops you ands tells you that you're about to enter the 'Yaoi-zone' of the site. In fanfiction, people usually state if their story if yaoi or not. They even had ratings. Hm, let's see. R and NC-17 would have to go in the yaoi department, yes?

So they got 'em drunk, eh? Hm, I never knew that. Sorry, but I was wrong about the Pearl Harbor thing. I learned that they only used the Kamikaze technique during the later part of the war.

Juna 1) Very, very nice! I'm speechless... I love the quality! 9.5/10 2)It's good abtract art, but something about doesn't really click with me. 9/10 3)Her stomach area is a bit weird, it sticks out too much. Also, her hair is pretty big, and it makes the body look unproportional. Nice job on the shading, though. 8/10 D_A 1) Good, but I don't think purple and orange match very well. 8.9/10 2)I'm not fond of the blue streaks going across the two guys' faces, but it's good anyway. 8/10 3)n/a, get it out soon! Ruby 1)Nice, a bit too soft, but it's good. The hidden shoulder on the right should stick out more. 8/10 2)Good pic, but the color is a bit clumsy. Also, the girl's feet don't look like they're on the ground. They look like they're floatin' or something. 7.4/10 3)Er...I really have no idea what's going on in this. 6.8/10

Please look at attatchment.(i'm bored.)

Sorry if I offended you in any way. I only flipped throught the book, so apologies for anything mean I said. About the whole strand of hair that doesn't connect. In sketches, artists tend to draw much faster and...well..sketchier. I guess it would've looked all right on a sketch, but I don't think the picture you posted was a sketch. You obviously worked on it, and so...yeah. And her legs do look weird. They don't exactly connect with the rest of her body.

Hm, I'd have to say Invader Zim and Family Guy. I really loved the art style Jhonen Vasquez used for Invader Zim, and it always kept me laughing the whole time. Family Guy is pretty funny as well, but I've only seen three episodes so far.

I just found that out after doing some searching, but thanks for the help! When they were using that technique, were they voluntary or were some people ordered to do it?

I've seen about four episodes of DN Angel, and I really like it. They use a bit of CG to make some of the buildings, and I think it was a good idea. But, I thought they were going to release Gravitation this year as well. O_o I heard that some company bought the rights to it or something.
-
Well, do you know any battles where pilots started using the Kamikaze technique heavily? Oh yeah, and one more question. When they were using that technique, were they voluntary or were some people ordered to do it?

I'm making a manga for a contest, and I need some info. In the Pearl Harbor attack, I heard that the Kamikaze Pilots commited suicide by crashing their planes into random buildings at Pearl Harbor. I need to know if they pilots who did this were selected and ordered to do this by Japanese officials, or if they were voluntary. (just for the Pearl Harbor attack) Oh, and if anyone can find a picture of the inside of the planes they used, I'd be really thankful. ^_^ Thanks.

My mother is dead-set against homosexuals, and she hates the fact that some anime I watch was homosexuality in it. I don't blame her, since she's a very devoted Christian whereas I'm an Athiest (sh, don't tell her!), but I beleive that Christians shouldn't try to force ideas on other people by trying to stop gay marriage.

Originally posted by juna I like her a lot too... the only thing that I can see, which no one has mentioned already, is that the hair for the bangs seems to start suddenly from her forehead, I would try drawing the bangs to meet the hairline that you have already have established. Great job! ^_^
I mentioned it. O_o I'd also like to add that her briads seem a bit weird. The place where they connect is too thin, and it doesn't look right. Also, the place where the dress ends and the legs begin, her thigh is way off to the side and it makes her body looks pretty deformed. Nice job, anyway.

I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion here, and whether or not someone disagrees or agrees, there's no reason to insult anyone.

I thought about it, and I finally recognized the girl! It's that girl...from that book. O_o It's called New Generation of Manga Artists or something. I loved that guy's art. Well, very nice job. Though, at the top of her head, two of the small strands seem to come out of nowhere. Good job, anyway. I hope to see more of your work.

I read an article on Gay Marriage in Newsweek, and I decided to bring it up here on OB. Okay, actually I didn't read the whole thing. My sister told me about it, mostly >__>;;. but she said that many people were going against it. It seems that they think if gay people are allowed to marry, that would be anti-american since it's against Christianity. I for one think they should make gay marriage legal in every state, and I don't like how people are saying it makes you anti-american.

Booboo 1)Very nice, I like the stitches across its body. What I don't like is the zipper and the chains. The zipper looks deformed because of the way you made it 3D like, and the chains ...just don't look right. 8/10 2)I like the overall pic, and I love the shading. But, his stomach sticks out for no apparent reason. Yes, I've seen a DBZ episode with him, and he does stick his waist and hips out very far, but the way you drew it looks impossible almost. Well, it's just my opinion. 8.9/10 3)I love the expression! ^_^ Well, you know the part where you draw the zigzag things? You made them go to the side too much, and it looks like Vash's head is abnormal at the sides. Also, the place where the clothes start, the back of the turtleneck-thing shouldn't go up as much. 8/10

Eh? HeeroxDuo, TOP FIVE?! What happened to Kaworu and Shinji, HUH?! Lol, j/k. Well, on your point of the shounen-ai/yaoi authors, same thing happens with het couples. Authors tend to put male characters with other girl characters, flaming OTHER girl characters beyond reason. It's not just with the boys.
(by the way, I'm going to pester some yaoi fans somewhere with a fic pairing Legato and Milly-and then post a note on it saying I have as much evidence for that as I do for the VxW pairing. Which I'm sure I could contrive just as much, i.e. they both like pudding, they both are subordinate to someone who is ordering them around [Knives and Meryl],they look good together. . . )
Actually, I advise you against that. Anyways, another quote.
while I find those pairings personally revolting as I find all yaoi, these characters don't have ANY somewhat workable opposite-gender
The creators of GW said that they never meant to put shounen-ai on the series, and just because a boy doesn't have a potential girl doesn't mean they're gay automatically. Like Charles said, these characters are ink on paper, and authors tend to do wild things with them. Let yaoi/shounen-ai fans do whatever, there's nothing wrong with it.

^_^ Thank you! Recently, I've been trying to draw in another style, and the pics aren't coming out so good.
