I think The Decemberists is a great band. I also think The Jonas Brothers is just as good.
-
I feel like I'm 14 but I legit love the Jonas Brothers now. They're just, just... lol. I love them. I love how Kevin is the rejected one.

I remember when there was a random craze by fans to get Gaspard Ulliel and Bella as some other actress whose name I forget. I'm planning on reading the books, not for any expectation of quality but because of the lulz I have gotten from reading random excerpts and the many hilarious blog posts about the series. And afterward, I'm all for the movie.

Ah, I love it when people take these things too seriously.

If I were a multi-millionaire celebrity, or some royal princess who lived in Dubai, or just filthy stinking rich...then yes. Yes I would send $50,000 on a necklace. Sigh. lol But sticking to reality, it depends on what you mean by designer clothes. Some people consider stores like Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, etc. designer clothes, some only consider labels like Gucci, Prada, etc. as designer. And then there's people who think designer clothes are the small boutiques that operate mostly in NYC or LA. And there's probably more random definitions, according to other people. I equate designer clothes with Gucci, Prada, etc. and boutiques, both of which are mad expensive. The only 'designer' pieces of clothing I've bought was my prom dress and a purse (which was Coach, if you consider that designer). A lot of designer clothes don't have a lot of range when it comes to the type of people that can wear it, and some of it just sucks (i.e. Juicy Couture, their clothing makes me kill myself), but I sort of love everything Marc Jacobs makes, as a stereotypical teenage girl. But generally I shop at mall stores. But I guess I've just learned how to tell if a store's clothing is good quality or not. Stores like Urban Outfitters is semi-ridiculous, mediocre to average fabric quality and incredibly overpriced. I also hate Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, etc. for having the same clothes year after year with the same designs and patterns and ridiculous prices- they could at least change their designs yearly. I'm sorry guys, but Burnin' Up is just, like....fabulous. Fabulous and terrible and awesome. Awesomely bad tween pop, ahhh yes. It brings me back to the 90s, and therefore I heartily approve of The Jonas Brothers.

Hah, the olden comic covers of Batman/Robin sexual innuendos override any gay threat the Joker presented. ;)

Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction

It's sort of disheartening that a lot of people just resort to "both candidates suck, America is screwed anyway". The US is not screwed. Will we have to adjust to not being the only superpower in the future? Yes. Will it take time to recover from the last 8 years? Yes. But we're not screwed. -
Hard Candy: Um... I spent most of this movie becoming increasingly irritated. The premise was cool, I guess, but I just didn't like Ellen Page's character at all. I guess just something about purposely luring pedophiles and then getting revenge on them just annoys me, which makes sense because I really don't like the show To Catch a Predator either. The Dark Knight: Overrated. Sick Nurses: A Thai horror movie, I don't know if it was supposed to be funny or if it was unintentional, but it was just a giant laughfest. Watching it with friends will guarantee a good time. Persepolis: I really liked the animation, it was smooth and unique. As for the storytellling, it was good, maybe just above average. I had read the graphic novels beforehand, and so I guess maybe that helped (my friends who hadn't were very disappointed by this film). Black Sheep: A humor/horror movie, basically about killer sheep. Fun to watch with friends, but the idea behind the movie was funnier than the execution imo. The Last Supper: Another terrible horror film, this time Japanese. But this time it was so terrible it wasn't even funny. There were some funny moments, but overall it was sort of painful to watch. Godfather Part III: Sofia Coppola was lol, her performance was sort of terrible. But overall I think it's definitely the weakest of the triology- the plot was sort of convulated and it was more a stand-alone film than a continuation of the first two movies. Scent of a Woman: I liked this movie a lot, Al Pacino did really well and it was a moving movie, although sort of predictable. The monologue at the end is pretty awesome. Other movies seen: National Lampoon's Van Wilder Movies I'll Watch: Arrested Development Iron Man Paradise Now The Big Lebowski The City of Lost Children Knocked Up Movie Count: 57

Or, maybe I could just continue thinking that The Dark Knight wasn't fantastic. I can see why people think I'm being cynical or "against it for the sake of it" about it- but I've said it many times and I'll say it again. I didn't think the movie was bad, I think there were problems with it (like any other movie) that stops it from really being everything people make it out to be. My first post in this thread should show everyone, I did not walk into this movie thinking it was going to disappoint. Sometimes people just don't like certain movies. ;D

Sweet, I really like this thread. Here's my sketches for today: Sort of bare, but today was a tiring day.

I've heard the Harvey Dent transformation defense from most of my friends, but I stand by what I said. Even if it's believable, it still had that "tacked on" feeling. He
dies within what, a day? One of my friends argued against my "it felt like two movies mashed together" argument by saying the director didn't know if there would be another movie, but that's really not a great excuse even if it is true. I just didn't find it focused. I thought the plot was convulated, and there were better ways to get the point across. Like adding more Batman time, maybe.
And the theme thing?
It would have been great if we had been able to look into Batman's character more. But we didn't, really, so in the end to me the message fell on its face. And also, I hate Captain Obvious monologues.
The movie wasn't bad, it just grates me to see everyone believe it's zomg amazing. I'm also bitter because I missed out on what most people thought was a fantastic movie experience, something I haven't had in a while.

Obamas Oil Plan, A Step in the Right Direction

Too bad most good 'ole Americans don't enjoy the snotty types, just the kind you'd like to drink a beer with. Yeah, that turned out swell. I also love how a lot of Americans think oil will just go back down to normal one day, like sub-dollar normal. Haha. -
Kicking the Bucket: My Most Gruesome Thread Yet
eleanor replied to Lunar's topic in General Discussion
I don't really aspire to go out in a blaze of glory, I just want a happy life of doing something I love and surrounding myself with family and friends. I don't know if I'd want to die peacefully alone or surrounded, but I definitely want to die peacefully. lol I don't see the huge deal of dying of old age. If I marry and have kids, I'd want to see my kids grow up and marry and have kids of their own, and then die. I'd like that, as corny as that sounds. -
Ah, I love Joss Whedon. So why wouldn't I like Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog? The ending was sort of wtf-ery, but it was still a great show.

Had a dream last night, not very pleasant, and I can see where it stems from. I was basically at college already, and throughout the whole dream I was weighted down with the feeling of utter depression. I absolutely hated college, had no friends, studied alone, did everything alone. I felt terrible, even a long while after I woke up.

My friends and I usually go to Blockbuster and try and find the most ridiculous horror movie that will make us laugh. The good ones are more hilarious than most comedic movies I've seen. Does anyone else do this? It's awesome to watch terrible horror movies with your friends, while making jokes about the whole thing. (Also, any recs?) We just saw Sick Nurses, this thai horror/humor movie that was pretty much 2 hours of pure laughter. It is the most blatant b-movie, over-the-top, and ridiculous thing we've ever seen, everyone needs to go see it asap.
I think whats amazing about it the modern adaptation of the movie. I dont think the action was super amazing but I thought it was apporpriate. It sounds like lunox wanted some crazy fighting scenes and more behind the scenes planning but I thought they did it well. I do agree there were some areas they could have improved the story but overall I thought the movie was fantastic.
Not crazy, just good.

I'll take Gray as well.

The animation quality holds up very well into the next episodes, I was pretty impressed. I'm really glad you posted this thread, Ilkillion, I'm definitely going to keep up with this one. And I've never seen Eureka 7, so it's all new to me. :)

Cinema Paradiso, when at the end
the main character watches the reel given to him and he realizes it is every kiss cut out from the movies he saw in his local theatre as a kid
. Very touching, very awesome ending.
The ruffles look so planned out. It's amazing.
;) The entire bottom right corner of that dress, right where the first twist is, was me drawing from life. I was literally just looking at my shirt that was wrinkled, twisted, and hanging halfway from an open drawer. This post contains my recent stuff. The one right below is something new I tried, I enjoyed drawing the pole and the clock. Sorry for the small size/watermark, I feel sort of lame for using it, but I plan on working on this and using it for a contest. These two were... me loving legs! Seriously, I love drawing legs. I just find them the most fun to draw, probably because they're one of my favorite body parts on women. My proportions are sort of wonky, but they happen to be some of my favorite sketches. :3 I turn sort of lesbian when I draw. The only dreams I remember, as in long-term memory (I remember normal dreams, too, but I forget them as time goes on), are nightmares. Which is unfortunate, because I have incredibly freaky/scary nightmares. i.e. Me being stabbed repeatedly by a killer, me and my mom being chased by Satan-worshipping murderers, me and my friends being killed off by some monster in an old school building, etc. :/ The latest nightmare I remember was more just nervewracking than scary. Aliens came to Earth and offered humans two choices: go into these large holding cubes for a month alone and come out safely, or die. I got in my car pronto and spent my entire dream crashing into things trying to get away from the aliens. lol But I do have a non-nightmare recurring dream, which is me being able to jump incredibly high (as in above the clouds high), but each time I do I go higher and higher and the fall down gets scarier. I eventually wake up before I go too high.
