I really just can't get over Daniel Day Lewis yelling about milkshakes. And him dancing to Kelis's Milkshake. -
Lollipop by Mika - Don't deny this song...it's amazing and you know it. lol The music video is pretty cool, too. Check it out! Those You've Known from Spring Awakening - I want to see this musical so badly. =_= I wish I lived in NYC, I'd spend all my money on this kind of stuff. And Jonathan Groff is completely drool worthy. With a Little Help from My Friends from Across the Universe - For some reason I didn't like this song at first, but it's pretty fun.
Ummm... I'm not even old enough to vote. If I did though, I would go for Obama. McCain is uber old. So if elected, his first act as president will probably be to drop dead. Hilary can't smile. YES! THAT'S MY REASONING, SHUT UP! If we can't have a president who can smile without looking like a smushed barbie, why have one at all?! It's stupid but it's my reasoning. Plus Hilary is an ice cold witch that has dishonesty to the max. I don't give a rat's *** if she IS also a girl, she's a sewer rat.
Kill me now.

Manga Naruto Manga [Warning: Spoilers]
eleanor replied to Ryo the Tactician's topic in Otaku Central
I'm just really glad Naruto didn't end up saving the day on this one. It would have been a major character development flaw and irregularity in storytelling if Sasuke didn't deal with how stupid his quest for revenge was alone. And so I really hope Naruto doesn't even come into contact with Sasuke until Sasuke decides to go back to Konoha himself, or decides to find Naruto himself. I'm actually incredibly glad Itachi died, because now we can get on with Sasuke's character development. I don't expect him to go back to Konoha or come into contact with Naruto willingly in the near future; I'd be really disappointed if that happened. There are a lot of bad things that could happen with Sasuke's development from here on out, and I really just expect him to spend time alone after this. It makes me irritated that I'll probably have to read through another huge fight before the manga really addresses Sasuke again. lol And my final thought:
Kishi has serious problems with drawing upper male abdominals....
-

Here's mine. This thing was driving me crazy because now I'm trying to remember all the books I've ever read... I'm still thinking of random books that I go back to search for. -_- But it's an awesome site, I've always wanted to keep track of all the books I've read/will read/are reading. For example, I'm really excited to read The Road by Cormac McCarthy, but I still four books to finish. lol But I've just recently finished A Streetcar named Desire by Tennessee Williams, and I have to say I loved it. It's the best play I've ever read, and it made me really want to watch the movie. I generally don't even like plays, but this and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead are up there on my favorite books list. A book I don't recommend is Valis by Philip K. Dick. It's like I jumped into the Philip K. Dick lake too early and I have no idea what the hell is going on. My friend warned me that I should read some of his other stuff before Valis, but I just started Valis instead and it is hands down the weirdest fucking book I've ever read. lol
First of all, I don't think you're a leader of any county that lacks respect for women, are you? And second of all, dont underestimate the power of people underestimating others. So what if we're a superpower, that didn't stop the terrorists from attacking, now did it?
A general study into international politics will show that a country's "power" doesn't go down because a women is in charge. Just because the US hasn't had a female president doesn't mean other major countries haven't... UK, Pakistan, etc. No one disrespected or gave less attention to the UK when Margaret Thatcher was PM. And the terrorists didn't attack the US because they thought we were "weak" or someone to "ignore", they attacked us because we're an international power that has great influence in the Middle East. Attacking the US doesn't mean you don't take them seriously. Quite the opposite, in this case...
And from what I interprete you're saying the US is the only superpower? Thats highly unlikey, one of the few maybe, but the worlds's one and only superpower, I don't think so.

Keep China in mind, neh? Can't be turning a blind eye to the East.
I'm sorry, I just have to disagree with this. China is an emerging superpower, and we don't even know if China with withstand its very possible economic bubble.
;807345'] As for the US being the only super power, nope. You have the EU, and there's Russia. FINALLY. Listen to me when I explain why McCain must be 'a little loony'. NO ONE CAN WITHSTAND TORTURE. Especially not over the course of years and years. It wasn't a cheap shot at his expense, it's only rational that he must have some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. YOU try being tortured and see how sane you'd be after that.
What I'm saying is that the US is clearly the world's strongest, if not only, superpower, and that these other countries, while they come close, aren't on the same level. Russia? No, they're not close to China's scale, and that's the closest thing that comes to being a superpower. Their economy is strong now because the rising oil prices, but oil is never a stable commodity. What happens when oil prices go down, and then Russians have to deal with a crappy economy and the human rights they've given up to maintain economic stability? Russia has only recently gained power as an international player, and it's a far stretch to say they're a "superpower". The EU...? I don't know about that. It's not even a solid organization when it comes to its power play. EU members still have to figure out if the EU will play the role of a loose confederation or a strong federal system. I wouldn't count it was a world superpower. And if you disagree, I think it's safe to say that the US is the world's greatest superpower. And the fact is, neither of us have been tortured, and probably never will be. You've taken the more irrational side and called McCain loony. So, are all Holocaust survivors loony? Congolese women who have been raped for years every day? What about the ones that have experience that and are spearheading organizations to help treat these women? Post-traumatic stress disorder doesn't happen to everyone, and it doesn't define someone's life.

Border collies and Jindo mixes. I like medium-sized, energetic dogs you can run with, and I also find them the cutest. And their intelligence is impressive, so you can train well. But the reason I say Jindo mixes is because pure Jindos are a hassle if you're not committed 1000% to training it well. They're incredibly smart, which sort of backfires if you don't train them, which is a huge undertaking.
This may sound a bit selfish, but pulling out of Iraq would be disastrous for whom? As far as the constitution goes we shouldn't even be in Iraq. If I recall, didn't Bush somehow give himself the power to make that decision? I may be proven wrong with upon further research, but that's what I seem to remember.
You don't sound selfish, you sound uninformed.
;807219'] McCain: the next Bush. You know he must be a little loony from years of torture in Vietnam (that's the one he was in, right?) and I don't think we need another old man for president.
What the ****? Try being tortured for five years as a POW in Vietnam, getting your arms and legs broken continuously and getting beaten everyday, and then say "he must be a little loony". And no, I don't trust your psychological evaluations. If you have to ask "that's the one he was in, right?", I don't even know why you're attacking McCain. If anything, the fact that when he was offered to be released but refused until all of his fellow soldiers were released and therefore stayed for several more years gives me more respect for him.
;807219']Also, about Hillary, being as the Muslims have no respect for women, I doubt they'd take seriously a country with a female president.[/FONT']
You'll find that even though a country's leaders can lack respect for women's rights, they won't disregard the US because its president is a women, lol. The idea of this is ridiculous. Let's totally ignore and not take seriously the world's only superpower... oh, wait.
I am very concerned about this election. As far as I'm concerned, Obama doesn't even care about our country. I have several friends in the Army and even those that were stationed in Iraq. They all agree on one thing. Pulling out of middle east would be disasterous. When I was listening to the radio I heard a very funny thing. A black man was called racist when he called Obama by his full name. Anyways...I am not very happy with the democrats at all. Not saying that Bush is awesome or anything. However, Washington state elected Christine Gregoire. She promised better higher education. She has been in office for what, two years. She has not done a thing and in fact, education has declined. Democrats talk to get elected and Republicans are too silent or too afraid. I do not like any of the candidates period.
I don't see how caring about your country and having civil war break out in the Middle East is directly correlated. Caring about your country can mean taking care of problems here and not somewhere else, so it's sort of foolish to jump to the conclusion that Obama doesn't care about the country. And education... all I can say is, there is a point where the state's help ends and students have to be willing to learn. It's not the US government's fault that places like China and India are producing more educated and able workers.

In all honesty, the surge plan wasn't a failure. Even as a democrat, pulling all of our troops out of Iraq will just be utter catastrophe to me. Mostly I'm just bitter that the US caused all of this crap, and now we're just going to leave, regardless of whether or not it was because the Republicans that were in power then and the Dems in power now (in the legislature, at least). What will happen if we just pull all our troops out? Civil war? And to me, Obama is Hilary, and I don't care which one gets the nomination. The only thing it's doing now is splitting the Democratic Party, and they're both acting dumb because of the cat fights they're getting in.

Penelope: We got a free pass to see it for newspaper, and I thought it was decent. The pacing was really awkward sometimes, there were some completely unnecessary scenes, and overall the movie was sort of jumbled and had bad development, but it was still a decent view. Also, James McAvoy... always a plus. Will be Seeing Soon: The Other Boelyn Girl 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days Be Kind Rewind There Will Be Blood PERSEPOLIS *so excited for this film. Blade Runner: Watched the Director's Cut as my first view...I literally watched this film one hour ago, lol. It has already started growing on me. I've been thinking about the movie so far, and while I haven't been able to completely wrap my head around it (I plan on watching it a second time) I think it was very well made. The atmosphere was just really good, and I was legitimately creeped out/paranoid the entire time. Drillbit Taylor: Lol, don't even think about watching this movie. Clearly the low point of Owen Wilson's career.... Will be Seeing Soon: 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days Be Kind Rewind There Will Be Blood PERSEPOLIS *so excited for this film. Awesome thread. :) Hot Fuzz: BEST. MOVIE. EVER. Egdar Wright, Simon Pegg, marry me now.
Or just let me have your kids.
Paris je t'aime: Rather disappointing. Of all the short movies, only several stand out (Gurinder Chadha, Coen Bros, Sylvain Chomet, Vincenzo Natali*), and the rest was either lackluster or just straight up boring. *Only because Elijah Wood was sort of hilarious in it. lol 27 Dresses: The RomCom that tried but didn't really make it. A Very Long Engagement: I think Audrey Tautou felt very much out of her element in this movie. Compared to her performance in Amelie, her acting didn't really have a good spark. And other than the fact that Gaspard Ulliel is beautiful, this movie was just above average. Quirky, depressing, uplifting, well made, but nothing really tugged at my heart. If the director had cut out some scenes and focused more on the couple's relationship, it would have made a lasting impression. Le Dernier Jour: If ever there were a movie that moved too slowly and didn't even make up for it in the end, this is it. Dead Poets Society: Yes, I hadn't seen this movie until now (a tragedy), but I absolutely LOVED it. Robert Sean Leonard is just _>) PERSEPOLIS *so excited for this film. The City of Lost Children Bladerunner 21 Movie Count: 16
I also watched Oldboy, an awesome and trippy Korean movie that felt about twice it's 2-hour length. It was an excellent mix of suspense, action, and psychology with a dash of black comedy thrown in for good measure. One of the most well-written movies I'd say I've ever seen and the innumerable plot twists and mechanics are just too much fun. Really, really awkward moments, too.
Just to add to the Old Boy discussion: to me it was another sad but too common case of the Asian film that had hella awesome style but no substance. No modern Asian film I've seen so far has had richness of a good western film. The only ones that do and I can recount are old classics that probably aren't known to the current Asian "extreme" film fans, and only because my parents knew of them and showed them to me.

Now That We've Narrowed Down The Candidates...
eleanor replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
In fact, I'm not too interested in any of the candidates really, maybe I'm becoming jaded, but all of them seem to have too many problems. It's how it's always been I'm sure, but for some reason, this election just seems to embody that stupidity even more than usual.
As South Park put it, it's always between a giant turd and a douchebag.
