Good character design is the anime I prefer. There's really no correlation between my favorite anime, and they're pretty much all across the board. But they all interested me because I liked at least one of their character designs. I know it sounds weird, but it's just true. Every anime that I've actually enjoyed had character design that was up my alley. Add that to my extreme pickiness when it comes to liking character design, and this explains why I haven't seen much anime. lol

After a long day of skiing/snowboarding, and having a fozen butt, hot chocolate is god. Nothing makes it taste better than a day spent out in the cold. For that reason I've never been compelled to make it at home, so I usually buy it lodges or places like Starbucks. I've never heard of hot chocolate with whipped cream, though. Sounds yummy. :)

Oh, Gainax. lol I've just started to watch Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, and it's definitely right up my alley. Typical Gainax style/quality animation/general craziness. Also, Kamina is the greatest character ever. The only problem I have with it so far is Yoko's character design. There's a line between sexy and tacky, and Yoko's clothes teeters (yes, even for anime).

I've never really used anyone as a 'back-up' friend, but I've been used as one. I'm not annoyed by it at all, though, but I'm not really a friend, just an acquaintance. I knew that, so I didn't mind comforting her. So, unless you know you're just an acquaintance, don't keep on thinking you're an actual friend.

I'm a control freak when I have to work at school with people I know aren't smarter than me. Other than that, I'm usually chill with anything that goes on. Physically, I'm a total anti-control freak. I'm one of those 'messy but I know where everything is' people, so my room and school papers are usually disorganized, but I rarely lose anything or don't know where anything is.
Case and point, I still see many people get pissed and insulted when BoA is called Korean.
...BoA is Korean. lol
Culturally, Korea has always been playing third fiddle to China and Japan, often slavishly copying both of its more powerful neighbors.
Excuse me? Since when did Korea slavishly copy China and Japan in history? Oh wait, they didn't. Because all three countries basically fed off of each other. Way to hack & slack and generalize history at the same time. If you're basing your statement on cartoons and video games and movies, you should realize that there's more to culture than its entertainment.

Do you need language to maintain your culture?
eleanor replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I can't believe that no one has brought this up. Korean culture is an excellent example of how you don't need to be allowed to speak the language to have culture. Korea was taken over by Japan in 1911 (date subject to debate) and the Japanese government prohibited their dress, culture and language to be used. But everything still prospered and people kept their culture in secret and worked hard to maintain their heritage. So there you have it, culture can survive without language
I'm not disagreeing with you, but Koreans still spoke their language in secret. The situation you bring up is different from a gradual obsoleteness of a language. -
Sinx and e^x walked into a party. Everyone was having a good time except for e^x, and when sinx asked him why he was sitting alone at the bar, e^x said: "even when I try to integrate, nothing happens." *brick'd*
I'm neutral on the art. Could be worse. (That said, the school uniforms are pretty bad.) ~Dagger~
I love how badly the uniform colors clash with Asuka's hair.
And there will probably be a lot of gay moments with Shinji and Kaworu.
Score! :) Not really digging the character designs, though. *sigh* I wish BL existed outside of shoujo style anime.

The only recurring (important) characters in the movies are Bourne, Nikki, Pamela, and Marie. I don't really remember a Carlos, probably because the movies stray from the books a lot. It's just loosely based.

The best part of the movie is the opening credits. :p It's basically a movie that's only good when seen with friends. My newspaper class was done with this month's paper, so some of us started watching Superbad in the publications lab. It was hilarious when I watched with my classmates, but when I went home and finished it by myself, it just wasn't that funny. Amusing, yeah, but not as fun when you're alone.

Hard Gay was hilarious to me, but then after watching about five episodes I didn't find it as funny as before. I guess because I watched the best episodes first? lol But don't get me wrong, I almost peed from laughter at some points. The ramen one is definitely one of my favorites. I also remember the one where HG gets a toy replica of himself. I love how most everyone reacts to him; even though they're totally freaked out of their minds they just bow and smile.
I take Language/Compostion and was wondering whether I should switch to AP LA/Comp? I was really good at LA/Comp at my last school but I'm not so sure about this school. I know that some of my friends take it and that it's good for college and stuff. But is it worth it?
Take AP Lang/Comp if you're good at timed writings. Because if you are, than you're probably good at doing the multiple choice for the AP Lang exam as well. Honestly, I didn't really learn anything in AP Lang. After the first practice essay in class (which I got a 5 on, lol) I consistently got 8/9s on the rest. Writing is just one of those things that's hard to learn or improve significantly at. And never assume that you'll do well in an AP class if you do well in a regular class, though. When I took regular precalculus rather than honors, I had a 98 with no studying whatsoever. Then I moved onto AP Calc and I had to put in hours of work each day to maintain a decent grade. The only sure thing I can tell you is: don't ever pick classes based on your friends.
AP classes usually look good on college applications, as most have already stated. Also, I don't know if your school works the same as mine, but AP classes count as a 5 point class, so even if I make a B in there, it still counts as an A... You should check into that, because it's always a plus if the class turns out to be very simple.
You also have to take into consideration that colleges don't look at AP/Honors points. Your weighted GPA means nothing to most colleges.
It depends, really. From my experience, if colleges accept the scores, then they'll most likely translate them into elective credit rather than credit for a specific course. An exception at my school is AP English Literature, which can be translated into credit for the basic freshman English course (which is much easier than AP English Lit, haha). I think they give actual credit for the AP Government exam, too. Again, though, it probably varies from school to school.
I honestly don't care whether I get credit, I'm actually only concerned about how it looks on my application. lol I've heard from people that colleges care more about the grade you got in AP rather than your AP score, even to the point that AP scores aren't really important to them in the application review.

I'm still a senior in high school, but from what I've heard from most everybody (teachers, college students, etc.) is that SAT IIs aren't incredibly important. Colleges don't really care which subjects you choose to take them in, and if you break 600 on them you're fine. SAT IIs are usually used for placement purposes, and they're never going to make or break you when it comes to applications. And just remember financial aid. A lot of people I know don't put any faith in it, but sometimes it works. lol But anyways, I have a question. Do colleges care about AP exam scores? I've heard they do, and I've heard they couldn't give a rat's *** about them.
For every person who absolutely hates the scent, theres someone who absolutely loves it. I remember once etting a 'oh! you smell like axe!' and I asked f that was good, and they said yes. I know my mom likes the smell sinc my dad says that's the only reason he wears it... i hate it >_>
To be honest, I've never smelled Axe directly from the container. But the guys who wear it that I've encountered just use way too much of it, I think. You can practically smell it from across the classroom, and that's just bleh.

Since the Handicap Battles aren't happening, your idea sounds great! And has a better chance of surviving longer. lol

Don't worry, Axe smells pretty disgusting. You're better off with a bar of soap.

Do you need language to maintain your culture?
eleanor replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
I agree with James. Culture can survive with or without language, but if you look at something like Korean culture, the language certainly plays a part. There are parts to the Korean language that don't exist in any other language and say a lot about the culture surrounding it. Similar themes can be found in other Asiatic languages, especially Japanese/Chinese, but it's still unique. I'm sure this applies to every culture and its lanauge as well. Language and culture feed off of each other, so they both change over time. -
Transformers was only cool, because it was so ridiculously awful and stuffed with clichés, that it was actually great. Besides, I doubt Bourne has such great - amazingly lame, but great - quotes as Transformers. Don't see him yelling "you want a piece of this?!" after which an agent tears him apart and yells "no, I want two pieces". Though the "I'm so glad I got in that car with you!" with a sunset sunburst in the background might fit in, if they want to decrease the overall quality of the movie. :]
The other fact that also influenced me is that I was never a Transformers fan and I thought the fight scenes were sort of lame. :/ But I do appreciate the awesomely bad parts of it. :)

Most Korean movies are bad. No need to glorify them, because it's just the truth. lol Old Boy is just one of those movies every Korean has seen, and if they haven't, they know what it's about and how popular it was. It has that gritty 'style' that Asians seem to crave over quality, which is what a lot of Asian movies suffer from IMO. My Sassy Girl is also a great example, though. I hear they're making an American remake of that.

I have a dog named Simba, and it's the cutest dog I've ever seen. :) She's a jindo-gae, which is the mascot dog of Korea. She's a runt, though, because she's rather small and she's not as strong as normal Jindos. And being a Jindo, she's very affectionate with my family, but dangerous to strangers. =_= But they're great dogs. Very hard to train, but once you do they're incredibly loyal. I've had another Jindo before named Cookie, but we gave her away to a family living on a farm when we moved, and before Simba I had a Jack Russell Terrier named Twix that ran away and never came back. We also had three guinea pigs (Reeses, Snickers, and Rose) that eventually died, but they were mostly my sister's pets. I liked dogs as pets the most, since they're easy to play with and just lovable. I also like cats, but I'm incredibly allergic to them. If I ever end up living up in the countryside when I get old or something, I'd very much like to have a black-and-white Border Collie, or another Jindo.
