If they do make a movie of The Hobbit, I don't think it'll have much of a success as LoTR had. The LoTR trilogy has much more action, story, and character development, while The Hobbit is just one book. It might even seem a tad boring compared to LoTR. But you know, a lot of people thought LoTR couldn't be done when it was first announced. ^_^

Anime what video game do you think would make a good anime
eleanor replied to ninj4_monkey's topic in Otaku Central
For the whole Kingdom Hearts anime thing: I'd agree with Arcadia on this one, but Dagger has a good point. If the cartoon series were to be released in America, a blend of American cartoons and Asian cartoons wouldn't hurt it. But like Arcadia said, the Disney characters weren't changed and I don't think the original characters/existing characters for Kingdom Hearts weren't changed to fit American audiences, either. I think a lot of people just don't watch some things because it's styled in anime and they're reminded of some bad anime series. *coughs violently* It reminds me of the whole Crash Bandicoot thing. *shrugs* -
Heh...when the audience saw Legolas in that silver-suit thing, 95% of the girls went, "Ohhh.." Hm.
Too bad Sam married that girl with the curls.
XD

From this moment on, I can say that LoTR:TRotK is the absolute best action movie I've ever seen in my whole entire life. *rambles* The Battle of Minas Turas [sp?] was probably the biggest battle on-screen til this day. It made the Battle of Helm's Deep look almost trivial in one sense. It was just so...great! The scenes that stick in my mind is
when Legolas climbed atop the er...elephant-looking animal and completely killed everyone on it, Eowyn faced off with the Witch King, and when Aragorn almost died. [T____T]
But the whole thing looked very cool. Just the look of an gigantic army of Orcs, Rohanians, etc., made you just imagine how much time and effort went into the whole thing. I mean...10,000 Orcs? That must have taken a while. Oh, wait, I almost forgot my favorite part.
When the lights of Minas Turas were lit and it followed along that whole path through the mountains,
I just thought that was really cool for some reason. *shrugs* Ok, so on with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum. Many people who watched the movie before me advised that I would practically loathe Gollum as the movie went on, but I really didn't.
I actually felt indifferent towards him when he kept on trying to kill Frodo and Sam to get the ring back. Eh.
All I really felt for was Sam, since he was so loyal and a true friend,
was eventually told to "Go back." by Frodo. THEN, Frodo left Middle Earth, never to go back.
I really wish the movie ended there
just as the ship sailed into the horizon
but I guess Peter Jackson had other things on his mind. Some pet peeves I had with the movie was when it kept on fading to black for a long time between random parts towards the end.
Especially when Frodo and Sam were on the rock after they destroyed the ring and all of a sudden it faded out just to arrive at the exact scene, expect Frodo and Sam were just lying there on the rock. *raises eyebrow*
*thinks* The music was also great. But I had a itsy-bitsy problem with it because they played the same music whenever the Rohanians went to battle or whatever. That violin-solo music. Thing. The music was still awesome, though. *laughs* The first thing my friend said to me after the movie ended was "Whenever Aragorn and Legolas did that shoulder thing, I thought they would kiss or something." Hm...I don't think Gimli and Legolas had much of a part in this movie as the others. Oh well. ^_^ I was very happy with how Merry and Pippin got some attention.

Anime what video game do you think would make a good anime
eleanor replied to ninj4_monkey's topic in Otaku Central
I'm a huge fan of the Zelda series, so I'd like to see one of the N64 Zelda games to be created into a video game. But first of all, I'd rule out Ocarina of Time and go with Majora's Mask. Ocarina of Time is a great game; I actually prefer it to Majora's Mask, but it would be...very long. I dislike extremely long anime series that have episode counts that stretch over 40, and to actually go into detail in Ocarina of Time through everything would take a long time. Besides, anime shows like to stretch things out so that the audience will anticipate the next show. Come on, just imagine it. Episode one: Link talks to Saria and has a nice stroll in the woods for 30 minutes. Episode Two: Link walks around a bit more and finds the Deku shield. Hurray, Link will meet the Deku Tree two episodes later! Episode 74: Link is forced into an engagement. So on and so forth. In Majora's Mask, Link has a bunch of side-quests and stuff, but he only really has three main....things..he has to get through. Eh...I probably have no idea of what I'm talking about, but I just think Majora's Mask would make a better anime series. Although, there are a series of Zelda mangas that are completely awesome, and the artist does an excellent job of cutting down the story and still make it entertaining. *shrugs* I think any good RPG game could be made into an anime [don't even start with the Final Fantasy Games], but I think most of them wouldn't turn out as good as most people would expect. I would personally love to see Final Fantasy VII made into a twenty-six episode anime show. Although this would probably never happen, I'm sure that such a show would have a built-in fan base, not to mention an obscenely large budget. I've always felt that the game's second and third discs aren't nearly so well plotted as its first, so it'd be nice if its storyline was expanded. That would be nice....^_^ They're making a CGed movie called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, in case you didn't know. But it would still be cool if it was actually made into an anime series. -
I'm seeing it today at 6:00 PM with two of my friends. ^_^ I'm pretty excited. We're going to get there at 5:00 PM [^_~] so...we're spending about four and a half hours at the movie theatres. Fun. I haven't heard anything bad about the movie from anyone yet, and I think it'll be the best of the trilogy so far.

Mainly Republicans, I guess. I mean, yes, everyone should be happy, but it's a lucky day for Bush because something good actually came out of the Americans troops in Iraq...

I don't think Sakura and Syaoran are married when the manga first starts out....they just have the childhood-friends thing going on.
-
Stick with writing what you know, but then don't stick to it at all. ^_~ Creating a story with personal experience is excellent, but if you stick to writing only what you know, there's no way you can expand the plot. Does JK Rowling KNOW for certain that wizards go to some obscure school in London...? No. Watching other animes and getting ideas is a good way to start off your plot as well. If you see a mini-filler event in an anime and you like that idea, run with it. Watching the news and reading articles can help you with creating a storyline. But anyways, you really have to define what kind of anime you're trying to create. You can focus around action, romance, plot, etc. Good luck. ^_^

Althought I haven't read the book, I'd say it looks pretty good. If this is Christopher's first book, then I will say 'congradulations' to him [thinks of cheesy Evangelion scene where everybody said 'Congradulations' and shudders] because it's been pretty popular. I mean...the points that people make of Eragon being unoriginal with having a good plot reminds me of the Harry Potter series. JK Rowling isn't exactly the greatest writer I've even seen *coughs* but she has an excellent storyline. Sometimes it's easier for beginning writers to use characters such as dwarfs, elves, etc. because these characters already have a certain background and footing. It's not as easy for people to create their own race and make up everything and out of nothing but imagination make their own footing or a certain species. Perhaps the author will get better at the problem that occured in 'Eragon', but if he doesn't, then I'd have to agree with Dagger. But all in all, I don't think beginning authors are trying to actually imitate other writers such as JRR Tolkien, but trying to start out simple and then go into the hard stuff when they've gained more experience. But I guess starting off with a bang would help. And to talk about Eragon's age....Hm. I'll use an example of other books here. I've read the Orson Scott Card series, and among them, 'Ender's Game' and 'Ender's Shadow' was the more popular ones amongst teenagers. Why? Even thought Ender and Bean [the main characters] were young, they had the mentality that was and surpassed teenager's minds. The characters were the audiences' ages, and they could relate to them more easily. Orson's other books revolve around characters that range in the 30-40s age, so they're not so popular. Get my point? Most people you read Eragon are around 12-15, so if the author made Eragon 19 or 20, it would be harder for people to grasp his thinking and mentality. If the characters were to run deeper and more realistic, some readers would probably put the book down and leave it alone until they were older, and then they'd probably put the book down because they've read other spectacular books...*shrugs* I guess that's the author's reasoning. I have no other points to discuss, I have a feeling I shouldn't have written this post in the first place because I haven't even read the book.

There was another thread about this earlier on...it wasn't by me, though. I thought it would generate more discussion now since it's closer to its release date. *shrugs* To Cahoots: They probably just made it like that to make it look cool. ^_~

Yes, that's how the title of this manga is originaly spelled. In short, this manga is based around characters from various CLAMP comics, mostly from CardCaptorSakura. It takes place in the Land of Clow, with Touya as King and Sakura as the princess, next in line to the heir. Syaoran is sort of an archaeoligist who's trying to find some secret to the whole land along with some other people. As for the romance, Syaoran is Sakura's childhood friend [and yes, Touya still hates him with a passion] and Yukito, the Palace's Magician, is still very close with Touya. Well anyways, Sakura secretly has this magnificent power that she does not realize, and often has 'visions'. She also has a nifty pair of wings, which are called her 'soul', and in the beginning of the manga, her wings are taken away and Syaroan has to go out and rescue her memories and soul. He's accompanied by two other men, but both have their own reasons for joining Syaoran on his quest. Etc, etc. Other CLAMP characters' appearances are: -Yuuko from XXXHolic as the witch of demension. -Tomoyo from CCS as a princess of a neighboring land. -Souma from RG Velda as Tomoyo's assistant. -Chii from Chobits as the servent/creation of Fye, an original character. -Ashura from XXXHolic. -Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth as Yuuko's pet. Fortunately [^___^], Tokyopop snatched up the liscence, and it's planned to come out in 2004 [along with DN Angel.]

Scientifically, men are smarter than woman on the subjects of math and science and are usually more aggresive and stronger. For the defense of woman, woman are usually more intelligent in the areas of Language Arts. They're also more sensitive, less strong, and not as aggresive. [Who gets the higher rates on crimes and rape...MALES. :p] Which sometimes can be a load of bull. But anyways, I guess it's partly true. If I look around my TAG [like a Honors/Advanced class] classes in science and math, there's usually more boys and girls. Um...the language art classes are usually well split down the middle. O_o MOVING ON....and if you take a look at the Olympics, you will see that in the track/field and ski-racing, the mens' overall scores are practically always better than the womans' overall scores. Then there's a fact that boys can be extremely insensitive and stupid while woman are usually more mature. [Who hits puberty first, eh?] Heh. Well anyways...woman can be just as strong[er], smart[er], etc.[-er!] than man at anything.

Art Drawing on the computer, frankenstein is born...

My scanner hates me too. *glares at computer and hurts eyes* I think the picture is pretty good considering you drew it on the computer. ^_^ Mouses are evil when it comes to drawing. OOC: Naw, that's Sennen, silly. :p *re-reads Shinmaru's post* *starts drawing Syk3/Shinmaru picture* REVENGE! Shinmaru was back in his regular spot in the corner of the room, moaning and groaning was the Ebola virus ate at his body. He started reading the book The Hot Zone to make things worse. The Fellowship of the Soul [copyright Shinmaru 2003] continued to fight the giant, one-red-eyed monkeys...of CUPCAKES. Half of the Fellowship was twitching on the ground, their bodies completely smothered under huge cupcakes. "Mmm....chocolate icing." Xra choked before falling to the ground. "IMA ALLERGIC TO CHOCOLATE I TELL YA.....!!!" KKC shrieked. Along with Xra and KKC lay Sennen, Japan_86, and Syk3. "Wait a second....what's the mortal enemy of the cupcake?" Kazuka muttered under his breathe. Dragon Warrior 'overhearing' this statement somehow summoned a giant platform complete with the trumpets and dancing, half-naked girls. "OF COURSE, THE MORTAL ENEMY OF THE CUPCAKE IS THE ASPARAGUS!" DW said...uh..sexy-like. Maladjusted sat in the corner next to Shinmaru, dramatically reading outloud The Hot Zone. Especially the part where the people with the Ebola virus threw up a black substance which were the dead virus cells and the part where people broke out and died...extremely....PAINFULLY. Shinmaru cried and said sommething about regretting the sentence he wrote of him getting the awful virus in the first place. By that time, the plot had advanced no further and the Sexy DW had defeated the giant monkey of cupcakes. He spent rest of the time fixing his hair and choosing another sexy outfit to wear. Maladjusted was drawing again. Her pencil moved furiously. Shinmaru was viciously getting attacked by fat Santa elves with knives and a CD of Destiny's Child. His mangled hand [think Asuka when the
Eva series were eating her Eva
] reached out to Syk3, who was TOO BUSY talking to Mei on the phone while hearting a picture of her. Sennen was sort lying there on the floor. Soul-less. A problem that this plot has yet to approach. The Pikaschmeep was violently attacking Kazuko. "You're...pretty *cough hack cough* violent..." Shinmaru managed to whisper out while looking at the very bloody picture. "Of course I'm not the good person that's secretly EVIL trying to FOIL EVERYONE'S PLANS that is in practically EVERY MOVIE." Maladjusted said, still drawing. Xra had finally eaten through the cupcake trapping him to the floor. He decided to read of the 27th Harry Potter book instead of helping the almost dead Japan_86 twitching under the cupcake. "Hm...Harry Potter and the Completely Unnecessary Other Book Describing his Middle-Age CRISIS." Xra read outloud. Reading outloud helped him understand the book more. He read on. "Harry Potter and his wife the ORIGINAL CHARACTER that EVERYONE HATES who HAPPENS TO BE A MARY-SUE were leading James Potter to 3/4 Platform-thingy-whatever. James, the first son of Harry, had sparkling green hair that often blinded many people and black eyes that maked him look depressed at time. He had a scar of an elephant standing on a circus ball on his right cheek. The Hogwarts Express, now called the Boom-Chaka-Laka Train of Grooviness pulled up. "TOOT TOOT! Harry, look at me and get nostalgic!" The train magically said. As the students entered, a magic arms handed each one a package of weed. Harry cringed. It was Cho Chang. The girl who went to bed with everything living in Hogwarts and some things that were NOT LIVING. Draco Malfoy walked in, looking incredibly hot. [See pgs. 34-98 to read further praising and worhip of Draco Malfoy written by Maladjusted] Harry felt the urge to go up to him and ask him why the sky was blue. Harry then saw Ron and Hermione walk in with twenty children." Xra slammed the book shut. He was quite disturbed. This is so off-topic, it's not funny. Syk3, who had managed to lift the cupcake after some Disney animators came in and forced him to have one of those love flashbacks that magically gave him power to lift incredibly heavy things and crap. Did you know that my favorite word is 'rhapsody'? Syk had lifted the giant cupcakes off of the remaining people as Maladjusted used a photo-copier to copy a picture of Syk3/Shinmaru ten thousand times and stick them everywhere on this godforsaken earth. Dragon Warrior had finally picked out a sexy-enough outfit for his to wear and flaunt at Kazuko. ......... I mean, be more sexy for the rest of this RPG. Yeah. The Fellowship of the Soul [copyright Shinmaru 2003] left the area, with Shinmaru carried by the Pikaschmeep since he was currently dying. The Great Deku took pity on him and gave him Link's green hat to make him happier. Shinmaru shrieked in joy and skipped to the front of the group. Apparently, he was OK now. "Shouldn't we advance the plot now?" Xra complained. He was still trying to get his thoughts off of the demented Harry Potter book. "Hm..." Shinmaru rubbed his chin, proudly wearing Link's hat jauntily. "We need something corny and over-used so we won't have to think." Dragon Warrior said. "Look IT'S A HIGH SCHOOL WE HAVE TO GO FOR A MONTH AND LET STUPID [strike]PERVERTED[/strike] RANDOMNESS OCCUR!" Japan_86 pointed, horrified, at a large building: Peterson High School. "Hey, the initials of the school are PMS!" Syk3 exclaimed.

Yeah, the relationship between
Aragorn and Arwen
is pretty under-developed in the books. I think all the romance is. *shrugs* If you want to know what's gettin cut out of the movie...:
Houses of Healing: When Eowyn and Faramir are together in this place and Aragorn heals Eowyn. Peter Jackson thought that the movie was straying away from Frodo and Sam for too long, and cut it. It'll be on DVD. Saruman: Jackson filmed a scene for "The Two Towers" where Grima Wormtongue kills Saruman, and then decided to bump it to The Return of the King. Then he cut it because he felt it was old buisness. It'll be on DVD, once again. The Scouring of the Shire: When the hobbits go back to the Shire, kill some enemies, and restore order. Jackson never liked that part of the book, and never shot it at all.
The information above was taken from NEWSWEEK, so I'm pretty sure it's official.

OOC: *is choking Shinmaru with bare hands instead of waiting for a chatroom to come up later* ^_~ "What the crap?!" Maladjusted moaned as she uh...watched her fate. Or whatever. She grabbed the piece of paper Sennen held and fed it to her Pikashcmeep. "MY BLACKMAIL!" Azurewolf's voice entered from somewhere even though he's not in this RPG. ['Hey, I'm the narrator here!' The Great Deku Tree shouted angrily'] "Ah, not to worry..." Sennen said suavely as he took out five thousand copies of the list. "Ah...Mally, you can't use suavely to describe Sennen's voice because his soul is stolen." Shinmaru stated as he carefully placed some spectacles on his nose. According to the camera man from Mario Kart, Shinmaru was brutally beaten up and crying in a corner holding various-sized bandages. Syk3 was crying because he was on the list and could not bear the fact of leaving Mei for this RPG. Ha. Ha. =_= "I ALREADY HAVE A BOYFRIEND!" Maladjusted exclaimed proudly. "You do?" Syk3 asked happily. "She does?!" Sennen said in a monotones voice because his soul has been stolen. "I do?" Maladjusted asked, confused, "Wait! I mean...yes, I like coconuts....yeah." She turned hastily to hug her Pikachu-slash-fluff ball and walk away embarrased. She sat in a corner, pushing Shinmaru out of way and took out the list and pen. "Hm..." Maladjusted crossed out D_B_D and Taylor Hewitt. Wait, I think I should rewrite that. REWIND! Dun dun dun... Maladjusted crossed out Taylor Hewitt and D_B_D. 'The OtakuBot sure is sexy, though.' She thought was she nibbled the nub of her pen. The Deku Tree coughed importantly. The Fellowship of the Soul [copyright Shinmaru 2003] ventured out, after Sennen finally realizing his soul was gone again and ordered the Deku Tree to advance the plot. Maladjusted straggled behing, giving glares to Shinmaru, Sennen, and a non-existant AzureWolf. [Boy, I hope he's reading this. *punches Azure* :p] The Pikaschmeep growled threateningly. Mmmhm. I like to eat frosted cupcakes. Er.. ON WITH THE STORY....! EDIT: ^_^ For your enjoyment [I hope.] I drew a picture of the cast doing stupid things. Haha. But I'm not posting it because my scanner is broken. So what is the point of this edit, you ask? WELL SHUT UP AND LISTEN! *takes ADHD pills* I drew two pictures on the compy while talking to Sennen last night. Here they are: YAY!...yeah..er..*mumbles* Ok, fine, I'll leave now. It's great fun, really. ^_^ I went to my first one this year in September. Well, for one thing, they're REALLY crowded. There's always a lot of cosplayers, too, and some of them are pretty vulgar [^_~] so just in case...Cosplaying looked like great fun, so I guess I'll do it next year. Bring bottled water or something to drink while staying at the con [are you staying in a hotel room there...?] and some snacks to eat. At most cons, they don't sell food and if they do, it'll probably have a huge line. ^__^;; In the Dealer's Room [room where you can buy all the anime goodies], I advise you not to buy any Japanese food snacks there, because those things are horribly over-priced at cons. You should research the things you want to buy and see if the Dealer's Rooms' prices are either too high, a good bargain, or average. It's pretty easy to get ripped off in there...and if you're short of money, you can always haggle with the dealers so that they'll lower the price several dollars. The place sells everything from anime t-shirts to plushies, so don't try and spend all the money you have. ^_~ Try to spend your money wisely, even though that's hard when you're in a room packed with all-anime. The art galleries and shows are also fun. You can browse and buy art if you want, but sometimes the artists overprice their pictures. =_= Caution: If you want to view the Cosplay Contest, be aware of the many hours is takes. In the one I went into, we left after three hours and the contest was still going on. >_> The AMV contest can be long as well, but I enjoyed it and sat through the whole thing. There's also an anime theatre at most cons where they play all anime all day, and there's a schedule outside of it. Or you can go into the Video Game room where they hold contests for games such as Soul Calibur and Super Smash Bros. Melee and etc. *shrugs* I visited it, but it was really hot in there so I left. Every anime convention has tons of panels and workshops, and those are also very enjoyable, so have fun and try to make new friends! ^_^

Anime Does anyone wish .hack//SIGN had more action?
eleanor replied to zdude255's topic in Otaku Central
The lack of action in .hack//SIGN is one thing that makes many audience memebers stray away from the show, and Lord knows how SLOWLY the plot moves along, but I believe that show is fine with what it has got already. Although, more action would not hurt at all. Tons of anime shows sport both action and a good plot, such as Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop [hey, the filler episodes do rock...], Hellsing, Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin, etc. The creators of the show were probably leaning more to a side of more meaning and depth rather than pointless action, because there are also many animes that completely abandon plot and decide to please violent little kids with lots of blood and fighting. But yeah, even though .hack//SIGN is fine where it is, more action would do it some good. -
The whole thing is stupid. The media is just picking on him because they're too lazy to find out what's going on in Iraq.
