Art Metal Gear Solid Codec Parody Thingie. (spoilers!!!)
Kinetic replied to Dragonballzman's topic in Creative Works
Lol, that was great. I think it could have been faster in some places, but it was really good. Are you going to add sound to it any time? I think that would make it amazing, lol. I don't know what kind of work would go into that though. -
It's a great design, but a bit too blurry for me. I would love to see you push in some clarity in there. It's really hard to do that with charcoal though, because of the powder left on the sheet that you have to clean up. What kind of charcoal were you using? As in vine or compressed? I love the glare on the eye and the teeth though. Getting those small details is extremely hard. And what size paper did you use?
-
That is great as well. What kind of charcoal did you use; vine or compressed? You really do know how to manipulate mediums well. I can only wish for the kind of talent you have. There's no way you can be making less than an A in your Art class. Maybe it's because of the size, but there doesn't seem to be much value in it. It's really only one part of the sheet though, and it still looks great. I tip my hat to you sir.
-
I can't believe I missed this topic. That's really a great piece, especially considering the size. Great use of color as well. I love how it sort of follows the color wheel all the way around. Great idea ;) It's definately a nice design as well. Were you trying to depict an image or was it just abstract?
-
hello hatake senseai, i am a new member here  i think i am just gonna replay :) wOw nice art...but isnt it is small.. and by the way try to draw a full body ... good luck carry on we want to see more ane more
She didn't draw it ^_^ Unless she did, and then it's amazing. Anyway, I think you could drop the outer glow, or at least make it a little more subtle. I didn't even notice the transparent image on the left until now, and that makes it just that much better. The background is interesting as well. I'm still wondering how you achieved that effect. Was it airbrushing or filters? Or another medium that I'm unfamiliar with? Lol. Anyway, it's a great wallpaper and I'd use it if I were still into anime. Just keep experimenting and you'll become one of those people you hear about on deviantART and stuff every day :p
As the image loaded (the horizontal one) I was reminded of a playground. You know those metal frames that you grab a hold of with your arms and swing about like a monkey on ? Or hang upside-down on and still look like a monkey *lol* I agree with Baron, that it looks like a lot of piping. Sort of like a blue-print, hehe. The three stripes of color on the background are lovely, very soft. If you took away the "piping", you could do something else with that background ?
Lol, I could try that. I haven't really done a soft, mellow piece yet. I just added the background in there to give it some depth though. That part only took me about 30 seconds ^_^; I was also reminded of a blueprint in a way. The look I was going for was more of a technological one though. I don't know what kind of technology, but whatever :p

Thanks alot for all of the brilliant comments and suggestions everyone :) I'm glad to be getting this kind of feedback, as it will help me to improve on what I'm doing wrong. Everyone pretty much said that the comets are out of place, and that was my only vice with the entire piece, but I really couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I made them look as best I could. I'll experiment some more with the PSD file and see what I can make out of them. Thanks again everyone :)
-
Thanks for the info :p Got it fixed now. I also made a new one with more detailed comets. http://www.deviantart.com/view/6144015/ I like this one because of the reality factor, but I enjoy the other one more because it's monochromatic for the most part and it just kind of abstract.
-
Wow, those are really great. I love how the background on the first one looks as if it were drawn in the same style as the stock. In the second one, I like the 2D boxes, but the right stock looks a little iffy. It's still good though :) Great job on both of them.

Emergence I figured I'd try my hand at brushing. Next time I'll make the implosion on the planet clearer, as I'm not too happy with that. I enjoy the rest of it though :) The little streaks are the "comets." Didn't feel like detailing them, as this was my first attempt and I wanted to see what I was capable of. I'm happy with the result. Comments? Critique?
I can't say that I like this a lot. As I have said before...it doesn't really do much for me. It looks alright...but yeah. The more I look, the more detail I see, and it closely resembles pipes. I understand that this must have taken...woah. An enormous amount of time and patience. It seems to grow on me, but I don't think I'll ever really love this style. I must say, it does look cool in some bits, but overall does little for me. I do admire how much effort you put into this though. Good stuff.
Thanks for the comment :) And I was expecting people to not like it much, but to more appreciate the patience it took and the design value. It was sort of a work of virtue, testing my patience (patience is a virtue, right? Lol). Anyway, I'll try to stay away from the boring stuff from now on :p
-
I really don't like your new style... It looks so... Blegh... Not cool lol. Of course it's just a matter of taste, but its like you spend no time at it at all. The blue(purple) is just one color blue(purple), as goes for the other colors. Put a fancy BG behind it and a few lines through it and its done. I'm sure you spend more time on it than I just said, but well yeah. This is what I think it looks like o-o;;
I spent like 9 hours on it ^_^; That's your opinion though. Abstract backgrounds are overrated and dead. The point is not for it to look cool, but to be a good design (by art standards). I mean for it to be slightly aesthetically pleasing, but that's not the point. http://swankin.deviantart.com/ Check out that gallery. Some day, I'm going to take a step into that field, as that is the most pleasing to me, but I'm just testing my abilities relating to that area before I plunge headfirst into it.

The title has no relevance to the piece what-so-ever. I just couldn't think of a title (because this piece wasn't meant to have a symbolic meaning), and looked at the title of my current techno song, lol. Anyway, this is what I have been working on for the past, like, 4 days or something off and on (because there's no way I'd have the patience to do this thing the whole way through in one sweep). It was originally 2022x1212 or something like that, but I rotated it 90º and resized it to 3000x5000 because I want to sell it as a print on deviantART some day. Anyway, it looks better horizontal than vertical, but I have to do it this way to sell it as a print on DA. But, like I said, it's 3000x5000 and is 4.5 megabytes. That's why I'm showing you the semi-thumbnail view, lol. Full-View is a must for the details though. You can barely make them out at this size. At some later date I'll post the smaller (horizontal) version. Actually, I'll try uploading it here, one sec. Nevermind, no luck there. I'll try my host. Sometimes it will be out of alignment, but then I wait for it to finish loading in 2 seconds and it's fine again. I have no idea what IE I'm running though, and my resolution is 1600x1200. E D I T: It just happened again. What internet speed are you guys running on? It might just not be finished loading and aligning before you post or something. And I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and IE6.
My initial thought when looking at the most recent image was "Disco !" And if you look at it like that, it's full of life, fun stuff. Moving to some beat, rhythm. But I also felt that it could be seen as someone on the run, hunted, avoiding those spotlights from the helicopter O.o;; If you take this approach, you feel the tension and the anxiety that the image exude. As if someone is coming after you and you want to hide from it. I love how it crosses some points, but goes behind others. Though, the green "fan-thing" at the upper left corner might be better behind the window ? In short: It feels like life, hurtling itself through you/past you. Whether or not you feel that is a good thing (Disco!) or a bad thing (Run!), is up to whoever views it, I guess ^_^ This one I liked most of the experimental modern pieces *nods*
That's sort of what I was thinking also. A sort of late-night club you're at. It sort of felt as though the club that you were at is uncomfortable to you, thanks to the black and such. I enjoy the inverse more though, because the light colors just sort of give you the feeling of happiness. It's as though you're laying in the grass and staring at the sun and clouds in the world of tomorrow, basking in the light. It's comfortable and I enjoy it. Right now I'm working on a piece very similar, but only including the squares and it's going to be humongous. I started on it earlier and my arm started to hurt because I can already tell that a ton of work is going to be put into it. I'm really unsure where to start though, lol. Thanks for the comments :)
This post belongs in the "separation of church and state" thread. There's no reason for two religious debate threads going around. I urge a moderator to merge this thread with that one and then delete my post.
It really doesn't have to go into that thread. That thread is about seperation of church and state on the whole, and this gets into a specific area of it. Please stop playing moderator. If they see a post like that, they'll delete it or merge and and inform the author. It's their job. Now lookie there, I'm sort of playing moderator ^_^; Makes me feel like a hypocrite. Anyway, it's really only a moment of silence in any school I've visited or attended, not a long amount of time. I don't know how long meditation lasts though. I assume that the moment of silence has been in effect for a long time because this is such a Christian-based country. It still is for the most part, but it was much more back when it was created I'm sure. It's just a tradition that has been carried on and I don't care much to change it, as most students don't pray anyway.
-
Thanks for both of the comments :) I was really hoping that Mimmi would post her evaluations of this piece, as she did the last one. I, too, was getting the same sort of vibe from this, but I wanted to see what everyone said. I sort of feel as though I'm looking through a window to a different world, but the other world has yet another mirror projecting my own world (if that makes any sense), the abstract symbol in the center (a part of my world), showing the disruption in life that brings us to the point of tears. I didn't really evaluate it until now, but that's what it looks like to me. To Baron: I also got the same feeling, but for a reason. I was merely posting the design to see how people liked it, and if it was pleasurable, I was going to show you the large (1000x1200 I think) composition I made with it. I'm rather proud of that as well, even though it's a bit odd. The symbol was extremely easy though ^_^; I made a diamond and deleted sections, then I duplicated the diamond, rotated it, and made a sort of star shaped thing. Then I made the trendy tech circles and put one in the center, lol. Mess with the perspective and that's what you get. Anyway, now I'm going to post the composition, which I'm fairly proud of. The only vice I have with it are the fan/wing type things. They just looks a little odd to me. http://www.deviantart.com/view/5978016/ I'm probably going to add some dark grey/black brushing to break up that negative space. It won't be too drastic though. E D I T: I added alot to it. I even added the inverse in the same image. It may take a while to load because it's so huge. I haven't even though of a name for this one because I love it so much and I'm excited about what kind of critique it might receive, good or bad. I've been trying to get into modern design lately, viewing alot of other people's art and studying it. A popular trend is the light yellowish/brownish background with red on top, and I was trying that. That's the basis for this piece, but I was working on a small corner effect (because it's an enormous piece) and I couldn't stop because I loved the results. It started out with red, empty squares overlapping each other and I was deleting vertical and horizontal portions. It looked good, but it was missing something. Then I created a diagonal selection and had a hay-day because the result looked great. I took the thing I created out of the large composition and put it in a new window. I then duplicated it, scaled it down, and messed with the colors. I see alot of pink and black, and many people say they go well together, so I thought I'd try it. I also added the green in the so it's not completely monochromatic, because everything would have gotten lost within the image and you wouldn't be able to make out many details. I'm not sure what size it will be on everyone else's screens because I'm working in 1600x1200, but I hope it's not too big. Oh yeah, I also inverted it, just to see what it would look like and I think it's pretty neat. Please state which one you like better if you comment :)

Art FMA (Full Metal Alchemist) Signature :-)
Kinetic replied to Hittokiri Zero's topic in Creative Works
I love seeing these animations from you because you compose them so well. Honestly, making animations bores me, but if I ever get around to experimenting with Flash, I'd love to get into it more. I enjoy how they fade into the picture as they're sliding in from behind the text. Sort of two entries into the image, as well as looking great aesthetically. Great work as usual :) -
You guys really do praise this too much :) Honestly, I love the attention and comments it's getting, but I think it's overrated. It's horribly small. But if you like this, then hopefully you'll like my next one. It's got basically the same premise, but it's 1000x1200. I'm also working on making the composition more enjoyable on this one. It's odd working with this size though, because it's a vertical rectangle instead of a horizontal one. We'll see what happens with it though :) To Hittokiri: That's actually the route I've been taking ^_^; All of my earlier pieces consisted of abstract 3D renders either resting with some airbrushing or 3D renders that I've contorted massively and blended with duplicates even more contorted to make the crystallic looking backgrounds. I've been avoiding modeling for a while because it intimidates me and my computer locks up every time I run 3D Studio Max now, but hopefully I'll get into it in the future :)
Like I said in your myO (http://www.myotaku.com/users/kinetix/ hehe) looking at it made me think of bows and snowflakes. Bows are usually wrapped around a gift, they bring forth a reaction of joy and anticipation. The image actually resembles a bow being untied and the content is being revealed (in my silly mind, hehe). Snowflakes falling are a beautiful sight, but can also be regarded with sadness. ("Rain is tears from heaven", sort of.) And when you look closer at a snowflake, the crystalised tear, it's shape is rather sharp and the snow is cold. So with your interpretation in mind, I can see how it conveys both the joys of life as well as the sadness and pain. And how life can either unravel before your eyes, or have you lost in its maze-like design. If I look at it purely aesthetically, the colors are very soft and sort of well proportioned over the image. The pink and purple are dominant, so the orange/brown that is there is not as well merged in as I think it could be (but that's just me) The frame is nicely done and the color-change effect suits it perfectly. You're getting better ^__^
Wow, that was the best comment I've had on a piece in a while :) Symbolic-wise, I completely see where you're coming from. I actually quite enjoy your interpretation more than what I gained out of it. I really wish I had that kind of eye for this sort of thing. Thanks alot :)

It's a neat idea, that's for sure. I honestly don't know what to think about them, as I haven't read your poem, so I can't relate the two. The texture isn't very visible in the first one, but it's very apparent in the second and I'm liking it ;) Great job.

hmm......im not sure......*pose* Ok.....first off.....the colours, they're beautiful, couldnt fault them if I tried, the fact that you've blended the border in somewhat is a nice touch also. The fact that you have a point behind, and appreciate the point that this image portrays adds to why I respect it, more than like it. Graphically though, the middle parts, the jagged parts in the foreground, I dont like, at all. I think its the emboss/bevel that makes it look...almost tacky, to me. The plus signs and the circle-ish design, I love, very nice touch. On the whole, I must say, this is one of your better pieces, to me anyway, since I love the softness of the background. And the colours match ;) i'd give this a 9 but the bevel lets it down for me, so, 8/10
Honestly, I was really risking it with that bevel. Back when I had only a monochromatic image with no brushing in the background, I thought that I needed more depth, and I hadn't messed with the perspective on the circle/plus symbols yet, so I basically had none. I guess I just forgot to see what it would look like without the bevel once I reached this point. I do agree though, it's tacky. I'm going to take it out for my personal issues with it, but I probably won't repost it because I'm just lazy. E D I T: Ok, I uploaded the new one. Didn't take too much effort so I was up to it ^_^;

I love how he used so many different mediums. I wish he hadn't cut the page into fourths though, it stops all movement from section to section. If he still could, I would like to see the different mediums blend into the same composition. I think I'll do that, but don't tell, lol. I enjoy the bottom right corner for the uniqueness. Your brother has a great imagination, this is pretty good ;)

The banners look great. The ones that really caught my eye are the last one and the banner you're using in your signature. I'm wondering if you airbrushed the stock in the last banner or if you just found it. Either way, it still looks good, but if that's your own work then I have to see more of it ;) As for the banner in your signature, the repeated text is "trendy," and anywhere else you would get flamed for it, but it looks pretty good :) AFI's older music is better though ¬_¬
