It's always nice to get comments from you, but you praise me far too much, lol. I really do enjoy this though. It was originally a monochromatic piece, only using a yellowish-brownish tint, but I really wasn't enjoying it, so I decided to add the color in there, since that's something I've been using to symbolize life lately. Kinetic is not teh roxors, but he makes due. Lol

http://www.deviantart.com/view/5842812/ This all started out as I was playing with the selection tool, just trying to see how it works, as I'm hoping to expand my style of art. I'm always just making 3D Renders, airbrushing slightly, and blending them like mad to make my backgrounds, but that hectic and crystalic lifestyle is just tiring me lately. I decided to try out a bit of simplicity and I just couldn't stop. I really enjoyed making this and it took an extremely long time, but I love the result. The odd shapes symbolize the mazes and seemingly contortions of reality that we must face ever day. The change in color, as my last (I think it was my last) deviation exemplifies, symbolizes a vicissitude, or sudden change in life, such as the death of a loved one or a new person who you are fond of. The image symbolizes all these elements of life, and I hope you all enjoy it :)

Lol, I love how the text resembles nature in your first one. Whether it was a font that's preset like that or not, it looks great. The Billy Doyd one is humorous as well, and I like the transparent, duplicated text.
-
Wow, I never knew you had that kind of skill. The brushing in the background is superb. That's what caught my eye at first. Great transitions from light to dark as well as a nice design. The stock is a little dark, but that's just my opinion I suppose. I would adjust the brightness a little bit and blur it extremely slightly to solve a bit of the graininess. The text placement is pretty good as well, taking up a bit of the negative space. Great job ;)

It's not bad. I love how the background is sort of erratic, with pictures blended in, and it has good movement. Although, it's a little off balance because of the Scryed logo on the right side. That's the first time I've seen someone use the logo in their image though. Lol Anyway, best anime ever, great taste. Nice sig ;)
I really like your work, but I have two complaints. Much of what I see is repetitious. Which may not be a bad thing, great artists can and have been repetitious. I'd like to see something.... more new, something that doesn't look so crystalized. My other thing is the use of text in your work. The use of text is fine when you have a banner or a website or something, but in a work of art like that it has no place. I really think it takes away from the overall artwork. Really demeaning. Visual artists don't use words to convey the meaning of their art, thats what poets and authors are for. Visual artists use the subject of their work or the style of their work to convey the meaning of their art. While there are some artists that use words in their work, I think yours would be alot better if you didn't.
Thanks for the comments. Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of the crystalized work as well and I'm starting to try and work on more simplistic things. If I ever get my hands on Adobe Illustrator, I'd like to start vectoring a bit. I agree with the text, though. In real life, I do have alot of symbolic meaning in my artwork (I only work in Art class at school though), but I don't try very hard in my graphics. But yes, I'm looking to not use text as much. I'm sort of going through a rather large change right now with my work.

Well, the image decided to be retarded, so I just put the deviantART link up there. Anyway, thanks for the comment (again). I'll just post what I said because I'm too lazy to type it again. Yes! An oxymoron! Lol Anyway, thanks for the comments :) I have a rather large monitor with alot of crispness, so I guess I'm seeing it a little clearer than some people, but I'll keep that it mind next time ;) Anyway, Roseate Discord is an oxymoron, as you said, that means a sort of cheerful tension. Glad you enjoyed it :) E D I T: Oh, and I use 3D Studio Max 5 along with Adobe Photoshop 7.

Long title ^_^' I did a remix of the original wallpaper that I think I posted, but I was unsatisfied with both wallpapers because there was an immense amount of negative space (or so it seemed) created by the stocks. I've been working with wallpaper-size images for a while, but lately I've worked with much smaller ones because it simply looks more appealing. Anyway, I did another remix of Roseate Discord that I am very pleased with. http://www.deviantart.com/view/5620559/ Any comments are appreciated, especially critique :)

I really like this sig. The background really matches the stock in a great way. Either that, or it's the fact that I love silver :p Anyway, I honestly don't see any flaws in it. Great banner ;)

This is an interesting topic. Very often do I think about my place in society. Not so much on the internet, but I feel comfortable with my setting. Really, there's not much to say about my place. I'm a supporting role in society. On these boards, I feel respected by some and I have my close friends. On the other board I go to right now (wow, only two? That's a record for me lol), I'm pretty popular. I'm one of the only graphic designers left and I unleash my real humor over there (you guys would shun me). The second "society ranking," or whatever you want to call it, is pretty much how I am in real life. I'm pretty popular, with lots of people that like me, and a few really close friends. Honestly, I don't get out enough. I'm home all day unless I'm out playing football with the kids on my street, but I don't like them much, so I stay inside. I have about 5 or 6 websites that I visit and most of them don't update often (like Penny Arcade and others). Life is boring *sigh*

Simply amazing ;) The composition is very successful overall. I love, as Pyrophobic said, how the clouds cut into the sun. Some day you might consider doing an ink print of this, because it would look great.

I have to agree with the last couple of posts as well. If you take insults made of names seriously, then you're taking it far too personally. Last year I was insecure (due to a lack of social interaction. Thanks homeschool! *sarcasm*) and got picked on a lot, but once you learn to keep the gag going and turn it around, you will start to feel more confident and get more respect I suppose. Just don't take these things seriously, it's not worth it. My friends and I insult people all the time in a joking manner, yet always logical insults (well, not all the time), but the people we insult know that it's a joke and they get over it; like anyone else should.

Every time I think I have something that I can beat Kenji with, he obliterates me ^_^' Two more votes to go anyway, I still have a chance. lol Thanks to everyone who commented. And Mimmi, it's Spasmodic ;) Just another word for erratic.

I'm just in the mood for graphics lately I guess. A sort of new style, working more on fonts and such in a small space, making it more of a compositional style. Anyway, rules: (if you accept) Win: 8 votes KO: 5 votes No stock images Any Size Any Program Any anthing else Post ASAP ;)

Heh, don't beat yourself up, it's not bad ;) Now the voting is open, so get cracking people!

I was just messing about in photoshop and decided that I wanted to have another battle. Anyway, I proceeded in making an image and I'm very happy with the end result. Win at 7 KO at 4 Any Size Any Program Preferrably no stocks (images, like anime). Pure graphics. Any style of graphics allowed (which means if Semjaza wants to vector against me, I'm dead :p) The rape (KO) level is when one person gets the set amount of votes while the other combatant still has none. It's an awesome layout but I'm not a fan of the blue. That's the style you're going with on this though, so it fits :p The scrollbar is very unique though. That's one of the things I liked most (along with Kim playing her bass). I have a question though. Is it going to be centered in the window or are you going to have it open in a new window that it fits in?

I honestly don't know much about Industrial or even what it sounds like and I don't know much of anything about underground bands (I didn't even know about Modest Mouse who is signed with Epic until my friend Taso told me about them, much less Deviates, who I recommend :p). Anyway, I'll check out their music, but I have to head off to school right now.

Good Charlotte isn't punk ~_^ They're what I like to call Modern Pop. Anyhow, Emo isn't necessarily a genre, but any style of music singing about love issues and things like that. My friends all hate it, but I really don't mind. They're talking about things like Coldplay (If I'm getting it right). Anyway, if you want some really good Punk bands, I would search for: Deviates Modest Mouse Dead Kennedies Misfits Green Day and Offspring (although many consider them to not be Punk anymore) The names are eluding me right now, but those should do for now. All great bands.

Oh, I see now. I've never used Illustrator, but now I'm thinking about getting it; one way or another. I think I use the semi-colon right in that situation :p Thanks for the tips though. If I do get Illustrator, I'll definately keep them in mind. A tablet would be nice all the time. I would use it constantly lol. They're so expensive though, and I don't have a job yet, and my parents definately wouldn't get one lol. I have seen that realistic approach that you were talking about and it is stunning. I wish I had that much skill with a real pencil, much less my computer :p

Oh my god, I can't believe that you have that much skill 0_0 What tool do you use for vectoring anyway? I've tried to use the pen tool in photoshop but it only succeeds in confusing me.

Exactly the reason I made this thread. There are always songs that seem like they are defining you, but it's sad that I can never remember. Truly, I should have posted this next song first, because it's what inspired me to change my life around. Like I said, I now have a much more enthusiastic outlook on life and this song is the reason. Last year, I was the kid in the corner who wanted to fit in but was not socially adept enough, as well as being timid, to really stand out and not get picked on. The lyrics are what did it, but the song sounds great as well. The Offspring - Defy You You may push me around But you cannot win You may throw me down But I'll rise again The more you say The more I defy you So get out of my face You cannot stop us You cannot bring us down Never give up We go on and on You'll never break us Never bring us down We are alive! All my will All my strength Rip it out Start again The wind blows I'll lean into the wind My angle grows I'll use it to win The more you say The more I defy you So get out of my way Can you leave it all behind? Can you leave it all behind? Cause you can't go back You can't go back

*found this thread from your other thread* :p Anyway, it looks great, but I agree that it seems to be missing something. I'm all for plain layouts, but this one seems a little too plain, I don't know why. I think that adding characters would be a good idea, but it might be even better to do it in the far background instead of the text area. I honestly don't know.

I love the vectorish feel in it. I honestly don't know much about Flash, so I couldn't give any tips, but I'm starting to really like this band and that animation looks great, so I look forward to seeing more work from you relating to this ;)

By Semjaza This one kind of sums up my feelings on religion as a whole, although I think many people would read it much differently than I take it. Piro and I seem to be in agreement on it.
I'm interested in hearing what your take was on it. I'm not very religious, but the way I read it, it was speaking about how people are ignorant for believing in things they can't see. That might now be how you saw it though :p
By Boba It's my life And it's now or never I ain't gonna live forever I just want to live while I'm alive (It's my life) My heart is like an open highway Like Frankie said I did it my way I just want to live while I'm alive 'Cause it's my life Better stand tall when they're calling you out Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down
I can really relate with that song. This year (school-year), I've really become in touch with myself and am much more enlightened. I have a much more enthusiastic outlook on life because I've finally learned that I'm not a less worthy person than everyone else and I can finally stand up for myself.
