1. When I first saw it, I wasn't particularly drawn to it simply because it's not that aesthetically pleasing to me. It was quite blurry and grainy, and the color scheme didn't really appeal to me. I didn't take the time to study the political or religious symbolism in the piece because I myself am not very religious, although I should be. I then proceeded to read your post and when I heard the term Piss Christ, I suddenly thought it was just another teenage atheist trying to fit in with the other, "goths," if there is such a thing in the US. To me, it's just punk kids who think the idea is cool. We don't get along well. However, I continued reading and found that disgracing the name of Christ was not the intention of the piece. You ask if it is really art. Of course. When it comes down to it, art is only intent. A monkey could fling poo at a wall and it would make an amazing composition, but it would not be art because that was not the monkey's intent. Serrano (I think that was his name) had the intent of making a political piece of art and he succeeded. Whether it is museum-worthy or not, I have no idea. I honestly don't know what a museum's standards are in terms of art.
2.
I never realized it when I watched the movie as a kid, but it's not really a happy song...it's actually rather haunting.
I was thinking the same thing as I red that ^_^' It's kind of depressing. An odd thing to be in a Muppets movie :p I was listening to the Deviates today (an underground band that's hard to find lyrics for) and checking out the only site that had more than one song worth of lyrics lol. I was listening to one song, trying to keep up with his singing. I read the lyrics as it went along though, and it relates heavily to my relationship with my father. Deviates - I Remember When i think of my youth, I don't remember you You weren't there, You didn't care You still don't care, You never cared if I did, but I don't It was a dream, I had no choice I couldn't scream, I had no voice to say or do anything I was all alone and the hate did grow And i remember what its like to be different A constant fight, ya, I remember You couldn't see No you couldn't feel Wake up from the dream Just to find its real Yeah i remember My mind was full of hate Yy heart was empty I couldn't take it It was your choice to leave I hated you, did you hate me? A fight for custody, over me A piece of property Just filled me w/ confusion, Empty thoughts, anger & illusions. Do you remember me, that whining kid, that crying baby The hate has evolved Problem solved You don't exist Its all your fault Yeah i remember what its like to be a kid, that's not my life You're nothing to me, you never were, that's pretty lame I guess that's just the way it goes... but i remember It just relates because my father abandoned my mother and I when I was too young to remember and then my mother and step-father got full custody of me. It relates a little :p
3. Most people have certain lyrics that they can associate with or at least lyrics that touch them to a certain extent. At least, that's what I assume since I, as well of friends of mine, have had that experience. I want to see what kind of lyrics you all have feelings for. Here is a song by AFI or Offspring (one of them wrote it and one of them use it as a cover song. Not sure which way it went). I know you're all going to be saying things like, "Aww, keep your head up, it'll be alright," or, "get over it, it's teenage angst." I thought of TN when I wrote that :p Anyway, it's just from a while back when I was suffering through that common teenage angst and depression (that most of us do from time to time) and these lyrics stayed with me because it was like others were picking at me piece by piece like a set of baby-back ribs. I don't feel like this anymore because I've learned to get over it and not be so pathetic. Enough of that though, here are the lyrics. Hope unknown Sometimes just waking is surreal I walk right through the nameless ones I know thatHope's unknown Sometimes the water feels so real As I walk through it fills My lungs, my god, I'm drowning This day never seems to end This pain, never This day never seems to end This rage I can not let go Oh, oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh oh Holes through flawless souls Oh oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh Holes through flawless souls So alone Sometimes I swear that i can hear The taunting of the voiceless ones I fear that I alone Fear those who finally cease to feel That they're alone inside this place I am the misplaced This day never seems to end This pain, never This day never seems to end This rage I can not let go Oh, oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh oh Holes through flawless souls Oh oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh Holes through flawless souls Now every face, it looks familiar Then every face would melt away until Now everyone Do you know I know your deception Now every face, it looks familiar Then every face would melt away until Now everyone Do you know I know your deception Oh, oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh oh Holes through flawless souls Oh oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh Holes through flawless souls Oh, oh Hear them calling Oh oh oh, oh Feel them gnawing out holes Oh oh oh Holes through flawless souls It's a really good song too, the way that both bands perform it. What are some of the lyrics that you guys have kept close? E D I T: Wow, the WYSIWYG editor jumbled up all the lyrics but I went through and spaced them out :p I'm pretty sure that's how it should be spaced ;)
4. I've never really heard any of The Pixies' music, but since you're so enthusiastic about them in this post and previous ones, I decided to check them out. I was very impressed. They have a very unique sound and are predictable, but in an odd way that I enjoy. Sort of like the way Modest Mouse is unpredictable in a way that I enjoy. That reminds me, the voice of the lead vocalist seems like a hybrid of the singer from Led Zeppelin (I'm too lazy to find a name) and the lead vocalist from Modest Mouse (yet again, too lazy to find a name). That's just how it struck me anyway. I would love to see these bands in concert :)
5. Ah, I've seen HexV6 before. I'm pretty sure that I saw it on DeviantART and added it to my favorites, but I don't remember leaving a comment. Although, it's mostly pretty monochromatic with the greyish tone and then the orange stands out very well, so I'm drawn to it (although it does break the image up a little, which is good), but I'm obviously first drawn to the enormous 3D render off to the right side. The render is amazing; I'm especially loving the way it fades into that transparent grid in the center there. The airbrushing looks a little odd because it's just straight lines in different angles being connected, but I bet if you blurred those or smudged them very slightly that they would look even better. Great job on this one ;)

Wrong Turn

Well, tonight my dad decided to rent a few horror movies. These movies being Jeepers Creepers 2, Cabin Fever, and Wrong Turn. Honestly, Wrong Turn was the best of the three (in my opinion) and definately the most memorable. I found it quite humorous that the movie Deliverance was mentioned in it since they both relate :p Very few movies have me tense with my stomach churning, but this movie, along with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, has succeeded in doing that. I suppose it's that southern horror feeling that gets me because in the end, it's all possible and has most likely happened in the past. Now I'm going to watch Falling Down (just for the humorous parts, personally), but what are your opinions on Wrong Turn?
7. I was just thinking about you and your work the other day :p I think I saw your name on Devilforums or something and PMed you. Anyhow, amazing work as usual. HexV4 is a great composition along with stunning renders and 2D. HexV5 caught my eye the most, however, because the render(s) is/are very intricate and the brushing is very well done. Virus2, while a great composition, doesn't stun me as much as the others do but it is still very good. You never cease to amaze me ;) Reverence_is_Back>>
8. I might be attending my "High School Prom" (as I said earlier, it's the entire high school since my school is small), but I might not because I just broke up with my girlfriend and there is really noone else that I want to go with. I'm not trying to put you all on a guilt trip, we're just on the topic of proms and having a date for it is a large part :p Like I said (again), my school is small, so there aren't alot of people that I like (pretty much not any) in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship perspective. There is one girl that lives in a town about 30 miles away from me (lol) but we became infatuated with each other over Winter Break and I just thought that I might ask her. Hmmmmm *rubs chin*
9. I agree with Boba, I hope that you and your family are able to recover from this tragedy. At one point in time, I had a small housefire in my kitchen and I was terrified. Luckily, my father was able to put it out before anything serious happened. He did, however, receive several burns and scars from the fire. Most are not apparent now, only the car crash scars (go him lol). Anyhow, I would be utterly shocked if this happened to me and I would not know how to handle it. I honestly wish you the best of luck.
10. The advanced art class at my school does that. Hopefully I'll be in that class next year :p Anyhow, it looks great :) There aren't that many dark values, but that's alright I guess. It's hard to pull off transparency and make it look good, but you did it very well. The glass, as I said, is a little too light but it still looks great. Nice work ;)
11. That would be awesome to have a 20s theme! I would wear a zoot suit in an instant lol. I actually just covered that age in my US History class. We're about to get into World War Two right now. Anyway, I'm still a sophomore, so I don't have the pleasure of the senior prom. My school is small, however, so I'll be attending the High School Prom (lol). Hopefully when I'm senior we'll be able to raise enough money so that the lower class students don't have to attend.
12. Complimentary colors. I love it :toothy: I love the blending in this and the transition from blue to orange. The hexagonal pattern in the blue area is great, but I would love to see it as a more subtle tone so that it blends in more because the image has a very 3 dimensional form but the pattern is sort of 2D and it gives it an odd perspective that is kind of uncomfortable. If you manipulated that to an angle, that would probably fix it, but I think that making it more subtle would work best. That's a very minor thing though, and the banner is simply amazing. Although the text could be much, much better. Though I don't know how PSP's font system works because I've never used it. Great job!
13. I also have a little "thing" for names (since I couldn't find a better word). At one point in time my step-father and mother were getting full custody of me and I had the option to change my name to whatever I wanted (if my mom didn't threaten to kill me for what I chose). Anyway, for some oddball reason I wanted Xavier, and thank God I didn't choose it because it would be retarded ^_^' No offense to anyone named Xavier. Just my personal. . .thoughts or something. Anyway, my mother wouldn't let me change Cole because it had meaning or William because it had meaning (which really pissed me off because I hate both names). So it went from Cole Justin William Austin to Cole William Shane Feagin (because I also liked Shane at the time). Anyway, enough blabbering. Names for a boy: Sean Josh Um, James? James is good. Justin Names for a girl: Michelle Tatiana Nicole All of these are mainstream (for lack of a better word) names, but I like them :p
14. That's completely awesome! I think the grungy areas look the best and that the entire background should be covered in that :p
15. I honestly don't see what your problem with the new layout is. It's absolutely marvelous down to the very fine details. The organization is top notch and the forums are much more cleaner. Not to mention accesibility and stunning visuality. I don't think that everyone is giving Justin and James the credit they deserve.
16. Wow, I just wrote out a long and detailed post about animation styles and such and I could have sworn I copied it in case something happened. Well, something happened and when I paste, it comes out as my post in another thread that I copied my post from >.< However, for the sake of conversation, I'll rewrite it for the most part. What kind of animation tickles your fancy? Honestly, animation is one of the most important factors in an anime to me. Call me shallow if you may, but it's my opinion. An anime could have the most fascinating plot that has ever touched my ears, so stunning that it feels as though I could reach out and touch it, but if the animation is sloppy in any way, I'll blow it off as if it were nothing. This could just be my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder talking, but bad animation is visually irritating. Things such as Thundercats and Lupin the 3rd come to mind. I disgust those animes for their animation alone (although I'm not quite fond of their plots or characters either). It's mainly sloppy animation and old animation with that grainy texture, but they are quite annoying. What are your opinions on this subject?
17. I have to agree with Semjaza. vb3 is horrid in my opinion. I don't know if anyone here visits Infinite-Forums, but when they upgraded, it was completely horrible. I couldn't have put it in better words than it already has been. vb3 is like a maze. A terrible unattractive maze full of annoyances and Justin and James have remedied that to a miraculous extent. To tell you the truth, it's been over an hour and I'm in love with the layout. The load times are a bit slower (althought that might be something with my connection), but this layout is simply amazing. And there is still more to come! What with the upcoming integration of myOtaku and everything else, I believe that these forums will continue to be the best that I have ever visited concerning not only quality, but visually stunning as well. I wouldn't mind seeing the WYSIWYG in the quick-reply but if it can't be done then I'm fine with hitting the reply button.
18. Wow, surprisingly, I remember much of that ^_^' It was when I first started using the internet (10-12 years old, I don't remember). I went to Yahoo! and searched for DBZ (being the mainstream anime fan that I was), thus finding theOtaku.com. I saw the words "Message Board" and was automatically drawn to it out of curiosity. I joined as Chibi Trunks and Miari Trunks (I have no idea why I joined twice), not completely understanding what it was about, but I did get the idea that it was a place to talk. I'm pretty sure it was v2, and it was extremely busy, in the DBZ forum at least. I remember Will2x losing all of his posts and that entire war, and the main names I remember are H-Bomb, Oz and Trunks (which I'm pretty sure is Zeh, who I'm pretty sure is banned now, correct me if I'm wrong). I remember loosening up and becoming a crazy spammer. I would post messages consisting of only smilies. ^_^' I eventually grew angry at the board's post limit and I was on Will2x's side during the battles, as he was my friend. I found a new forum called Anikey that I joined and I loved it (I would still go there to this day if it hadn't shut down due to bandwidth. Anikey was enormous). I learned a great deal about web design there and created many websites. Eventually, I returned to OtakuBoards, to see that it had turned into something completely different. I now had a greater knowledge of the internet and understood completely was was acceptable and unacceptable on forums. I signed up once more as Aries (often being mistaken for a girl as "Aeris"), and my name was changed to Kinetic. This is where I am now. lol E D I T: I was wondering where you had gone Warlock. You don't even know me (unless you secretly stalk me or something), but I immediately realized that you were a respected member on the forums and yeah. . .forgot what I was saying, but yeah, I was wondering where you were :p

I think a little icon would be great. Honestly, I would use one in each of my banners but my hand it too unsteady for the lasso tool, the pen tool confuses me to this very day and using the polygonal lasso tool to make one would be far too tedious for me ^_^'
20. Honestly, it was bothersome to me at first too (but I'm slightly claustrophobic and I suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I'm a basket case ^_^'), but it has definately grown on my and I enjoy it much, much more than v6. They did an amazing job and I love the layout. It might be possible for them to make a new skin that's widescreen for people who prefer it that way. I was wishing for it to be wider until I remembered how much I detest widescreen forum skins :p They might even have a widescreen skin in the process of being created, I have absolutely no idea.

They just contrast a little too well in my opinion I guess. That's what I was drawn to anyway :p And I just noticed that it's Kazuma from s.CRY.ed in your banner. Favorite anime right thurr lol. E D I T: And one more thing. Are you the Kenji, formerly known as Kaisuke, formerly known as Kenji? I guess I just assumed you were because of the little symbols, but I am uncertian :p
22. Lol, great comments guys, thanks alot :) To Syk3: Thanks for the compliment. I remember my first few banners when I had learned the ways of the magic wand tool and I was tossing out filtered up banners with cut-out characters every few seconds :p To be honest, I've always enjoyed your eye for design. The compositions in the banners you make always come out very stylish and appealing. I was looking at your banner site and saw that Metal Gear Solid banner that you created so long ago and remembering how much I loved it when you made it and how much I still love it :p To OtakuSennen, thanks again for the compliments :p I'm always glad to hear that someone enjoys my work, which is basically the reason that I, as others, post my art, if not for honest critique or advice. The blurred out "eu" in euphOria is a personal preference of mine :p I was greatly contemplating taking the dodge tool to the background and making the "phOria" fuzzier. Just my taste lol. Thanks again guys :) E D I T: And to Hataki Vash, euphoria is a moment of delight (related to ecstasy) but I only chose it because it sounded cool :p It was either going to be euphOria, rapture (which is another word for euphoria), or Avidity. E D I T 2: I just noticed that I have a ton of smilies in my post >.
23. I love the mastercard rip-off and the "Vote Bush in 2004" banners :p You use the animator alot (obviously), but maybe sometime you'll move onto flash. Flash is a very powerful program once you learn how to use it.
24.
It looks pretty cool to me Kinetic. I?m fascinated by the technique you used to create the yellow background that dominates the banner. How?d you do that, and which program did you use? Overall I think that the banner is excellent. However, for some reason the lower left corner strikes me as a little too bright for my liking and the yellow ?euphOria? text is a little hard to read. A very nice job. Rating: 8/10
Thanks for the comments :) For the background I used a 3D Studio Max render and manipulated it inside of photoshop with some airbrushing to make a wallpaper. Then I just centered the wallpaper in the signature zone and did some more manipulating lol.
