The drum is cool too :D I love the texture on the bottom part. And I can see that this one is sitting on a chair, but the mario teapot one still confuses me -_- It's just floating there!

Whoa, tht's awesome :) I don't know a single thing about pottery, but I doubt it's simple lol. It looks good though, great job ;) And what is it resting on? It sort of looks like it's floating there lol.

Lol, that's one of the best comments I've ever gotten :) Longer and more detailed than any others, at least. I don't remember placing a hand in Vivid Paroxysm, but that's cool that it forms one (lol). As for the blues, they were put in there by a mistake that I didn't feel the need to remedy lol. Sooner or later I'll go back and remove them. I do agree about the text in both, though. It is a bit too faded, but that's just a personal preference :p And I doubt I'll win our battle. That was a great piece of yours.

This thread is solely meant to be an area to critique my latest work, [url=http://images2.deviantart.com/i/2004/06/1/7/Wayward_Flow.png]Wayward Flow[/url]. But it's also a tiny advertisement for that [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=36943]battle[/url] thread over there :toothy: Anyhow, it's all the same 3D render, the same one I use in most pieces (I merely contort it each time, but not this time), because 3D Studio Max was taking up too much space on my humble hard drive. I did choose orange and blue for a reason. Complimentary colors, of course. That's all thanks to my art class and such. I didn't decide to add the little blue renders in until later, because the vast amount of orange created a large area of seemingly negative space. So, I decided to add those in, but I'm going to play with the blending because I think that they stick out a little [i]too[/i] much. The 2D work in the middle-right area was rushed, merely because it's my second try and I just wanted quick results (as you can obviously see). So I'm going to backtrack and clean that up a bit as well. I believe there is a fair amount of movement in this piece. If you're used to critiquing, you're not automatically drawn to one thing. The 2D work is a little opaque though, so I might make it a little more transparent just so that my emphatic point continues to be the orange render in the center. Any comments or critique is much appreciated :) [b]E D I T:[/b] One more thing that I forgot. The word "UNPREDICTABLE" at the bottom was only thrown in to the composition to make it a little more interesting. It makes you study the image a little bit more, in my opinion. Well, that's all. Wow, the background is [i]very[/i] dark. I had to set the brightness to an extremely high level in photoshop to see the details =p Anyway, I must agree with OtakuSennen's point about placing an alleyway in the image. It would be a better background and would make it very interesting. About the text, yes, I agree you should use another font. Though I think that the placement is better as it is, because in the corner it would throw off the balance quite a bit.

That looks great :) The shading was done very well (although the transitions could be smoother). It should be larger though, so that you can fit in more detail, especially in his face.

[/B][/QUOTE] I was in that battle :toothy: Anyhow, we did try on a few occasions to battle in the Art Forum, but it was eventually settled that battles belonged in the "Battle Arena" forum, and so that's where they were from then on. There have been very few battles as far as I know, and I was involved in some of them, but it is a good concept. On many forums that I visit, the Graphics Battles section is always very popular. Of course, those forums have much looser spam restrictions, and people would only post "So and So gmv," "gmv" standing for "gets my vote."

The bookshelf is a great addition though :) The [i]only[/i] problem I have with this is that his right left seems a little disproportionate (right from his point of view). Great work as always :)

Click on the "Colorize" box and slide the top bar to the color you want and slide the other two bars to change the brightness and such. [size=1]This is definately a great banner. The background is unique (very nice effect) and the stock image is perfect. The pose and angle fit very well with the background and they complement each other greatly. Although the outer hair area looks a little blurry (I'm assuming that's because you erased the background). Next time try using the magic wand tool and using a very small eraser to get the leftover bits and pieces. I also would like to see a better text with the banner. The current font doesn't bring it justice. [/size]

[size=1]It's definately unique :p The colors are good, but to me, the white seems a little off. A little orange thrown in here and there might have looked a little better (just in my opinion). Or maybe in place of the white there could have been a complementary color (purple), but I've always thought that the yellow and purple combination was a bit off. You could do a shade of blueish-purple though and that might turn out well. Overall, I enjoy this piece, but your current signature is much better (did you use the pen tool for all of it?). [/size]

I've seen countless threads go unanswered and I have replied to them myself (not only on this forum, but many others), just to give the artist a little recognition. About my art, I agree that alot of it is the same, but that's only because the three last pieces I've made have been with the same style. My work varies alot (you would see if I posted the link to my portfolio, but I'm currently cleaning it out), but yes, the last 3 banners I have posted have all been the same style (well, two were and another was majorly different). That still doesn't mean that an artist doesn't deserve recognition. I don't always have to be appreciated here, because I am appreciated in many other forums and communities, but other people also go unrecognized and it's not pleasant. E D I T: And another thing is, just because someone's art has the same style most of the time, that doesn't mean every banner is the same and can't be given different critique. Most people have a certain [i]style[/i] to their work, but each piece is unique and different and deserves to be critiqued just as much as any other piece. [/size]
