I?m earning $7.10 an hour as a clerk/stocker/cashier/whatever else my manager needs me to do at a local garden store. Depending on which full time employees aren?t working, I fill in as needed. On any given day I could be running the register, watering plants, putting together grills, cleaning up or going out to get someone?s lunch. It?s a decent job, although the boss is a grouch most of the time. It?s not exactly the most interesting job, as horticulture isn?t my forte, but I?ve learned a lot through the experience. I?m saving money for college and all the workplace gossip makes for some interesting stories. My first, and previous, job was as a bagger for a grocery store. Depending on the day, I could make a significant amount of money (all tips) or very little. Each person usually tipped between two and three dollars, which was a lot for five-ten minutes of bringing groceries to someone?s car and loading them in. That routine, on a busy day, could be as often as seven times an hour, which worked out quite well. However, there?d also be days when very few people showed up, and I?d make $20 all day. I quit after three months, as I didn?t like it all that much, but it was an ok first job.

Well, sounds interesting to me - count me in if you think I'm up to par.
But he said to try Accutane[/B'] , but when i looked at the side effects of accutane, it was not worth it, like depression and extreme dryness of your body.
I used Accutane, and I never had any problems with it; the acne I had (moderate) was cleared up within six months. I'm now off of it, and it hasn't come back after three months. Accutane has had a lot of hype over allegations that users experience depression, but my doctor told me that no study has ever confirmed it. However, it can do damage to your liver and cause nasty birth defects. A blood test is required every month to check that your liver is ok. I never had any problem with it. Assuming you have health insurance, since it is expensive, I'd give it a try.
Did anyone else get a lightsaber spoon? >>;
In my Apple Jacks!
I also took issue with the showing of a skeletal frame of the Death Star being shown in Episode III. The building of the frame fits the previous timeline, as the spacing between Episode II and III is similar to that between ESB and ROTJ. I find it very hard to believe it took the Empire 17/18 years to complete the space station, which is must have. There is mention, I recall, of the Death Star being "a new battlestation" in ANH. Did anyone else notice that the lightsabers had points? That, too, didn't sit well with me. The Plan 66 deal was semi-believable, but I find it hard to believe that all of those very powerful Jedi Masters didn't get an inkling of what was going on, as Yoda did. I could see some, like Ki Adi Mundi, dying because he was vastly outnumbered, but Aayla Secura should have been able to defend herself. Additionally, I feel it a little unrealistic that Anakin was able to take out most of the temple. There surely were a good number of Knights and Masters present, defeating all of them seems highly implausible.
I held off seeing the movie on opening night as part of the Han Shot First "movement" I suppose you could call it. Overall, I enjoyed it and give it 4/4.5 stars.
I felt the movie's best scene was the duel between Yoda and Palpatine, it's worst was the dialogue between Anakin, Windu and Palpatine during the arrest confrontation and the funniest moment was when Yoda kills the two Imperial guards right before he confronts the Emperor. I also like the irony in that Anakin gives up everything he is for his love, and in doing so loses her, too. Along with the fact that without his poor choices she wouldnt have died. >.>

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a stalker song, since the subject is obviously reasonably well known to the object of his affection, but I'll throw it out there anyway. It seems to me as if this song describes the situation that develops when one of two people who are acquaintances begins to like, almost obsessively, the other - while the other person looks right through them. Like the guy you buy your coffee from every morning, etc. I hope that made some semblance of sense. Everywhere by Michelle Branch Turn it inside out so I can see The part of you thats drifting over me 'Cause when I look you're never there But when I sleep you're everywhere You're everywhere Tell me how I got this far Tell me why you're here and who you are 'Cause everytime I look you're never there And everytime I sleep you're always there 'Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone Recognize the way you make me feel It's hard to think that you might not be real I sense that now, the water's getting deep I try to wash the pain away from me Away from me 'Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone I'm not alone (interlude) When I touch your hand It's then I understand That beauty lies within It's now that we begin You always light my way There never comes a day No matter where I go I always feel you soar 'Cause you're everywhere to me And when I close my eyes it's you I see You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone You're everywhere to me And when I catch my breath it's you I breathe You're everything I know that makes me believe I'm not alone You're in everyone I see So tell me Do you see me?

Is the war in Iraq worth the sacrifice?
Boba Fett replied to ChibiHorsewoman's topic in General Discussion
So yeah, the question is 'Is this war in Iraq worth the Sacrifice?
Yes.
I really don't think so. Yes, part of my saying so is on a personal level. But aside from that where has this war gotten us? Over 1,400 soldiers and Marines killed from the US alone.
This war has freed a nation from years of oppression by the hand of a dictator who?d committed all sorts of terrible crimes, started a democracy in a region where there are very few and ensured that Iraq will never have the capability of producing weapons of mass destruction. Whether you agree with the decision to go to war or not, I hope you realize that we?re committed. We can?t simply just get up one day and leave; it?s imperative that the country becomes stable before we withdraw our troops. If we were to leave now, it?d allow insurgent forces to possibly destroy any chance of a democracy in Iraq.
We're spending millions on this war putting the country more in debt and we were lied to.
Hundreds of Billions. You seriously think that the president would all out lie to the American people? I?d say that Bush was misinformed or misled, but not that he lied. -
I really don't see a problem with the inauguration, or the expenses of the aforementioned event. No matter who's elected, first term or second, this kind of ceremony will go on. There will always be business interests, so they too will figure out how best to buddy up to the winning political party. If Kerry were elected, the Republicans would make the same stink; there would be the same protests (hopefully with catchier slogans) and the like. To me, it's not really a big deal.
If they don't like Bush for the war, here's an interesting fact. There's 100,000 soldiers in Iraq, while 400,000 police in the state of California. My teacher says that there is just about the same amount of violence in California as there is in Iraq.
Good thing we're training Iraqis to fill police and national guard/military roles. I'd take issue with your teacher saying there's about the same amount of violence in CA as Iraq. I don?t see an entrenched insurgency kidnapping and beheading all non-Californians and demanding everyone else leave the state. Iraq definitely is a more dangerous, violent place right now than CA.
One of my buddies over here said the other day he saw an Iraqi dude fill up the empty tank of his SUV and two spare gas cans and pay roughly .40 for the whole purchase. Enjoy! :D
It's an extreme version of the 'buying drugs from Canada' scenario. Remember how much we pay Iraqi soldiers, police and other governmental service professions - then how much you make. I think it's a safe bet to say the costs are pretty similar, if not more over there, based on percentage of total income. Prices should be cheaper, but terrorist attacks on refineries and convoys have made fuel hard to come by. The Iraq and Iraqis Blog is a good place to glean information with regard to this and other issues of the like.

I?m not one for saving things I have no use for, but I do collect a few things.

Anything and everything Star Wars ? I?m a huge dork when it comes to this. My room is literally plastered with movie posters and maps, my two bookcases are full of the EU novels and I?ve got a box of action figures. There are also various odd Star Wars themed objects I?ve just happened to pick up (Candy Jars, Die Cast Figures, Videogames, etc.)
Those Bicentennial quarters. Pretty nifty, I think.
Pennies. I?ve got a little collecting book that I got from my grandfather that he had when he was a kid, and there are pennies there from 1900 onwards. The neatest of which are Zinc WWII pennies. It?s also fun, when I find older pennies, to fill in the few spots in the 50s-60s that are missing.

But then again, gas prices in San Francisco are up to $2.29...
CA has some of the US's highest gas prices because of it's strict environmental regulations, which would be even stricter in LA if the city weren't given a special exception from the EPA mandates on clean air. Gas prices are influenced by OPEC, supply and demand, government taxes and most importantly, what people are willing to pay. Frankly, I think the last of these is the most important. When people stop sucking the added cost up and drive only when they must, those who produce, supply and govern will take notice.

I liked the story, Shy. It really was an interesting read; the diverse cast of suspects and their individual quirks seemed to work really well in the story. Additionally, I found the workplace drama pretty convincing, especially when the detective begins to use their slang/inside expressions (Skelebitch). Especially convincing was Felix; he really seemed to capture the demeanor of a good TV show detective, with an almost Law and Order dark humor about him. Crime dramas/mysteries are by far, in my experience, the hardest stories to write so I commend you (for what it?s worth) on this one. **While reading through, I noticed a ?hr? somewhere in either chapter two or three, which was definitely a misspelling or typo. Upon skimming back over the story, I couldn?t find it. Guess this isn?t much help, but I thought I?d mention it.

-Lone toddler crying in a shopping mall. I?d ignore the kid. There are tons of people in a mall, and someone would either go get their kid, notify a clerk or a security person, or assist the child in finding his parents/guardian. You can get in a lot of trouble approaching other people?s kids. -First person at the scene of a car accident. I?d call 911 and report the accident. If there were someone who looked in desperate need of help, I would stop and attempt to assist them. -Person drowning. I?m not the strongest swimmer, so I wouldn?t go out there and attempt to rescue the person in danger. I?d attempt to throw them something they could hang onto until help arrived, and probably call for help. -Obviously upset person running down the street. Nothing. -Injured animal. Depends. If it were a bird or something small/wild I wouldn?t do anything. If a larger animal, like a dog or a deer were hurt and seemed to be sticking around in one area, I?d call animal control. -Elderly person having trouble crossing a busy street. Depends on how much trouble and how busy the street. I?d probably help the person to the other side and make sure they were close to home and going to make it there ok. -Person shoplifting. I?d watch and see if they got caught, but if they got away with it I wouldn?t say anything. Not worth the trouble. -Smoke coming from the upper windows of an apartment building. Call 911 and report it, but keep on walking. -Drunk fumbling to get his car keys into the door of his car. Take the keys, unlock the car and then lock the keys in the car. That?ll show the drunk. Besides, he wont be able to go anywhere unless he calls someone, and they?ll know he?s drunk. No problem for me, safer for him.

The SUV was only going thirty miles an hour down the winding road. Its inexperienced driver peered out through the windshield and attempted to divine from the fog the path ahead. A dog emerged from the mist. He swerved sharply to the right. As he hit the child, the leash flew from the boy?s hand.
They're new album, American Idiot, actually has some alright songs on it, from what I hear. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Holiday.
I never did get how Holiday fit into their whole Rock-Opera theme. It just doesn't, to me, seem to gel with the other twelve songs.
Every once in a while I get the "connection refused" message, and it's been happening more often now with OB (at least for the past few weeks). I'll click on a link and get an error message, but if I refresh the page a few times I usually get the page I'm looking for.
Does anyone besides me find it funny that the same people who are against abortion are usually also opposed to birth conrtol which would help to curb teh need for abortions? Shots rang out across the open field. He charged forward, squeezing the trigger. The AK-47 barked loudly, spewing hot lead towards the jeep shooting his men. Their muzzle flashes started to change direction; a grenade flew from his hand and it?s pin hit the muddy ground. Their bullets caught up to him; the jeep exploded.

The OtakuBoards Nifty Fifty: Nominations (2004)
Boba Fett replied to Shy's topic in General Discussion
What is it? The Otaku Lounge Why was it nifty? The Lounge has had it?s ups and downs as far as thread quality goes, but the sheer number of them means there?s always something going on. Whether it?s a debate that calls for some research, screenshot captions that make you laugh or just a bunny with a pancake on it?s head, the Lounge has something for everyone. What is it? Siren Why was it nifty? Not only does he always have something to say, but he knows how to put it across in a witty and concise manner. It?s also nice to hear a different spin on things, see things from a different point of view. If there?s a deeper meaning to something, Siren has it covered. Besides, you can never have too much intelligent thought. What is it? Baron Samedi Why was it nifty? Baron seems to be a voice of reason around here, no matter what his title [Bomb Chucker] says. He opinion is always worth hearing, and draws people back from the polar states that many of us seem to find ourselves in when arguing about something or the other. In addition, his MyO is just about the coolest thing around. What is it? 55 Fiction Why was it nifty? Sara?s Anthology creation has really allowed a lot of us to post in an area of the board where we don?t usually tread. It?s also a nice challenge to fit your tale into just fifty-five words. It?s probably the best read on the boards we?ve had in a long while. What is it? Rebel Scum Why was it nifty? ?A certain point of view? on a classic, this is definitely my favorite RPG of the year. The quality of the short tales in there is amazing, and the variety of authors and topics makes it a brilliant read. What is it? The Reanimatrix Why was it nifty? James outdid himself with this concept, allowing everyone and anyone to post their own Matrix fanfiction, with great success. It runs the gamut from dead serious to dark humor, and there?s some interesting HTML work to boot. What is it? OtakuBoards: Enter the Net Why was it nifty? Although it was first posted in the closing months of 2003, more than half of the action here was in 2004. This has got to be one of the funniest threads of the year, bringing back memories of members of days gone by, and showing all of us in a different light. The plot is also nothing to scoff at, and with the end of each chapter you?re left craving more. If you?re going to read a thread from 2004, read this one. -
Darwin states that small changes in a species appear over lots of time and this is what gives rise to new species. If this is true, shouldn't there have been fossils found of strange half dogs/dolphins?
Only if dogs evolved into dolphins, lol. Personally, I?d put more weight on Darwinism than any existing religious creationism. All of the latter are based on faith, and are completely lacking in the evidence department. Darwinism, while not a perfect theory, is backed up by significant scientific data (fossils, for instance).

He shoved the box of books aside and it fell to the floor, where it?s contents spilled across the carpeted ground with soft thuds. His fingers reached the window latch and, with sudden effort, forced it open. Satisfied with his view, he raised the rifle. As the Lincoln pulled into view, he changed the world.

How good is America doing in their foreign affairs?
Boba Fett replied to Morpheus's topic in General Discussion
I?d just like to add this. The entire world is donating to the Tsunami victims in affected countries. However, the infrastructure isn?t in place, especially in Indonesia, for this aid to be distributed. Most of the aid is being flown into Jakarta, far from where it is needed. How is this aid being distributed? Not by the UN, or any of the other countries that have been hounding the US for more aid dollars. The USS Abraham Lincoln?s helicopters are working full time to fly aid from the airport to affected regions. In addition, security units that were supposed to be deployed to Iraq to assist with their elections are now being diverted to assist Tsunami victims. The cost of these acts is not factored into the donations you see on the news. Bear that in mind.
